Newer, clean but VERY rude front desk people. Three separate interactions with two different people and each time I was GROWLED at. These people weren't just unhappy about having to be at work they were down right mad, foamy at the mouth, ask me for nothing or else I will chew you up and spit you out I would rather be at the beach so go away ATTITUDE. Which brings it down to TWO stars.

The view was pretty even from a non-ocean front room, location was smack in the middle of P E R F E C T. Price was good.

Pillows puffy, mattress good, carpets clean, furniture decent, bathroom clean, shower pressure pretty good with teeny tiny little thin towels BUT DON'T ask for extras. ASKER BEWARE!

The jury is in.  Do not stay here.  You'll be more comfortable sleeping on the beach.  The kicker?  No hot water in the shower.

It is now called the Ocean 1 Hotel.  The one thing they got going on is location. You can't beat 1st and Boardwalk if you want to be on the beach and in the action. That's what the star is for.

The decor is Early American Goodwill and there are no nonsmoking rooms so we could smell the residue from the prior occupant. The Queen bed is more like a double bed.  It is not a Queen.  Plan accordingly if that matters to you.

The reservation system worked pretty well but it did not send me a confirmation email.  Parking is tough. Far away unless you luck out and can park in one of the few spots by the office.  You CAN pull up by the office to check in and unload luggage.

Staff was nice enough. For the most part smiled when addressed and wanted to be helpful. They seem to be a bit undertrained in hospitality.

Would I stay here again?  No. Not. Ever.

Hey Yelp - this property is now Ocean 1 Hotel and Suites. Please update your website.

The mission; a clean, safe, economical, high floor oceanfront room with a balcony, overlooking the boardwalk located with easy access to Ocean City attractions. Mission accomplished with no more and no less. I left the wheels at home (who wants traffic on vacation?) and took the Greyhound to OC for a 4-day, 3-night trip down nostalgia lane; I was born in Salisbury and hadn't been back to OC in decades. Given the fact the reviews on this property ran the gamete, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was warmly greeted by Dawn at the front desk and had a smooth check in, although there really is no lobby to speak of, no seating area, just the front desk and the front office. I was given room 401, a queen bed, oceanfront room on the corner of the floor (be advised - the '04; series rooms are right next to the elevator). As soon as you open the door, you can see the sprawling beach in front of the property, so the first impression was positive. Yes, as previously reported, this is a very small room with only space for a queen sized bed, armoire/dresser with a (non flat screen) TV, a small round table with two chairs and a medium sized refrigerator. Bathroom amenities were as basic as they get; single ply toilet paper, the 'wafer thin soap' and two generic miniature bottle of shampoo. When I checked in there were fresh towels but no washcloths, however, after having read previous reviews about the shortage I had opted to bring my own and didn't bother to contact the front desk. (Washcloths were provided the next day.) Contrary to other reviews, I will say the bed was a little on the firm side but still comfortable, I had no issues with water temperature or water pressure. Yes, it does get somewhat noisy at night but that's just part of the night time scene experience, part of the 'carnival atmosphere'. Once the sliding glass door was closed and the AC on, it was not an issue at all. Also, as previously stated, the balconies are not private and yes, it was possible to see into your neighbor's room if you were actually trying to. But for the most part we all just exchanged pleasantries on the 'communal balcony' and everyone minded their own business. (the sunrises from this vantage point were amazing!) Also, they do not enforce the 'no smoking on balconies' policy; the guests in 404 were heavy smokers and their smoke did occasionally waft onto my balcony. They do provide a coffee maker, however, they do not provide any mugs or styrofoam cups. I had to stack several of those Saran-wrapped plastic cups together to actually provide a vessel for my coffee that didn't burn my hand.

The front desk staff were pleasant including Dawn, Tasha and Sandy who were always able to provide suggestions or directions or information (especially how to catch the OC Beachbus for a 17 block ride for a much needed liquor run!) Dawn even suggested I pick up a bag of ice on that run as their machine was not working; it was nice she informed me so that I didn't have to find that out myself! The housekeeping staff I encountered during my stay were all very hospitable and nice. At checkout, the front desk did allow me to store my luggage as they have an 11am checkout and I wasn't scheduled to leave OC until 5:30pm and also contacted the cab company for me because Sprint service was spotty!

Overall, my stay was good, it's a decent, clean, safe, 'no frills' property in a prime location. Would I stay there again? Most likely not, but not because of a bad experience or anything or anyone negative, as I said my mission was accomplished. I'd just like more basic amenities in a property including a pool, some type of food service, styrofoam cups for hotel provided coffee maker, in-room safe, upgraded or modern furniture, a clock radio with Ipod or phone connection capability (there were no music options; cable music channels were inaccessible) and most important, a private balcony. Thanks OC1 for a very nice stay.
