I never got a chance to stay at the Lighthouse Club Hotel, but I hope that the customer service I received while trying to book a reservation is not indicative of what a stay at the Lighthouse would be. I called to hold a reservation for 24 hours. When the reservation agent called me to see if I was going to keep my reservation, she did not announce what business she was calling from and was very rude. They should do better customer service training for their reservation agent.

I still have a hard time believing there is a hotel as nice as the Lighthouse in Ocean City. You will not want to stay anywhere else in Ocean City.
The Lighthouse sits on the bay, so it's far enough from the main roads to pick up any of the noises. It's peaceful even during peak season. The staff is abnormally friendly for OC. When someone opened and held the door for us when we were checking in for the first time I thought I was going mental. This is, after all, Ocean City! I They offered us sangria while we waited to complete the check-in process (the last time I was offered a cocktail while checking into a hotel was in St. Lucia). Someone helped us with our bags and showed us to our room, and then offered to give us a tour of the hotel. On the main level there is a social room, which offers an "honor bar" (unattended, pay for what you take) that serves beer and wine. Fresh baked cookies are served every afternoon and make the entire hotel smell scrumptious. There is a wraparound patio on the main floor with rocking chairs that overlook the bay. If you don't have a bay side room you can still enjoy the view! If you leave the hotel there are bridges that take you directly to Fagers bar & restaurant. If they are charging cover at the bar, show them your room key and they will waive the cover fee!
And then there were the rooms... let me begin by saying that I have yet to find a bed as comfortable as the ones at the Lighthouse. I've stayed in both the partial bay room on the lower level and the full bay view on the upper level. Both had Jacuzzis in the rooms, one had a fireplace. All have balconies, some are private. Turndown service is provided at night (the chocolates they leave on your pillow? Godiva. YES.) They also bring you muffins, fresh fruit and orange juice for the following morning's breakfast. Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate is available in the room with a small coffee pot. They even leave a newspaper outside your door in the morning.
Now for a confession: I own an apartment about a block away from Fagers Island. I still choose to stay at the Lighthouse, even if my apartment's not being rented out. The Lighthouse is like a close by mini-vacation, but it doesn't feel like Ocean City. You won't want to stay anywhere else in OC, I promise.

This place is amazing. It's basically like a B&B off the bay in OC. The beds were extremely comfortable with down pillows. If you are looking to stay in OC and are OK being a little off the boardwalk in a quiet area, this is by far the best place I have found yet.
Oh, and you get VIP access to Fager's Island (bar & nightclub) if you stay here. Both of those I highly recommend which are less than a block away.

We went here on a recent vacation. This place is amazing. We loved this. The service was amazing. The people were friendly. And though a little dated the room was beautiful. And the homemade pound cake and fresh fruit were a very nice touch.
The view of the bay is also beautiful.
Will definitely be going back.

This was a GREAT spot for a quite romantic weekend away, the jacuzzi in our room was fantastic. There was a wonderful room downstairs where they put out cookies (free) and wine/beer (honor system to the room) and you could sit in the cozy room or out on the common porch in rocking chairs looking out over the water. The staff was very friendly.
We went in March so most of the typical Ocean City restaurants were not open and the boardwalk was only open during the day (and Friday/Saturday night). So my one word of caution is that if you go in OC's off season be prepared to hunt around for restaurants, there are many open, but it takes some looking...
Our one concern was that the AC was not turned on in our room, which caused us to have to open the porch door over night in order to remain somewhat cool. The only real issue from this was that there was added noise in the early morning hours.

We stayed here on our first trip to OC, and feel very lucky to have found it. OC can be frantic and loud and full of teen and twenty-somethings being raucous. The Lighthouse is a quiet, civilized retreat right in town yet secluded and beautiful.
Located right on the bay, the water literally laps at the foot of the building, most rooms have spectacular water views. The most noise came from the passing waterbirds.
Service was on par with the cost, the room's decor a little dated but maintained in like - new condition. Most significantly, there were no "nickel and dime" charges so many hotels tack on even at this price point. Parking, wireless internet, even bottled water and soda were complimentary.
While I feel somewhat indifferent about OC, I would certainly return just to stay at the Lighthouse again.
