I came to Minneapolis on business and this hotel was recommended to me. It's an interesting hotel. It's adjacent to a large building, formerly a retail and catalog facility for Sears & Roebuck, and the second tallest building in Minneapolis. It has some really interesting 1920's architecture.
The interior is nice: nice bed and nice flat panel TV.
The downside is that it's located in Crack Town. The area is so bad that my cab driver warned me not to leave the hotel after dark. In my many years of business travel, I've never had that happen.
I won't ever stay here again.

We were in town for a quick weekend and were very impressed with this Sheraton.  The staff is very kind and helpful.  The rooms are very nice & the beds are heavenly.  The perfect combination of pillows and bedding to compliment the mattress.  This is a definite keeper.  The hotel is not as close to the main area of uptown as I originally thought but it's just a short drive.

I stayed here in the spring of 2006 and it was in excellent condition.  Not in a very convenient location if you need to be in downtown, but a short drive away.

Tina F.'s review suggests that is adjacent to crack whores on the corner.  Not true.  While it may have been in, at worse, in a transitional neighborhood, it wasn't unsafe.  Her cab driver needs to lay off the crack pipe.

I stayed here three times over the years before I moved to Minneapolis.  It's in a great spot close to Uptown.  Rooms are very spacious and well-appointed, service is stellar.  I never did get a chance to check out the restaurant.  Also, when I stayed they had a great shuttle service that will drop you off within a few miles (will take you into Uptown) free of charge.

The area didn't scare me, I felt safe.

The hotel itself is fine (it's a Sheraton).  But the neighborhood is cracktown.

If this really bothers you don't stay here at all.  If you can look past that, the neighborhood is actually also home to a thriving Muslim community, and right across the hotel is an indoor ethnic market and food mall.  Inside that building there's great shopping and food options.

I actually got some tasty Pakistani food and a local microbrew and had a great dinner while working in my hotel room.  (Outside of that though, it's all KFC and liquor stores.  Very unexpected).

Booked here at the last minute for a weekend getaway.  Downside is location--a couple miles south of downtown in a not-so-upscale neighborhood.  But the advantages of the hotel greatly outweighed that--free/flexible shuttle service, great accommodations, and extremely friendly and helpful staff.  Plus there's access to a biking/jogging trail right next to the hotel, and a great international market with a lot of great eating options right across the street.  Oh, and the light rail station to go to the Mall of America or the airport is only a mile away.  Would definitely stay here again.

Honestly staying here was not the best. I was able to get my room on time but my colleague had to wait several hours (past check in time) to get her room.  I also woke up with a bug bite which freaked me out a little. There were no visible bedbugs though. I checked the mattress. This hotel is conveniently located next to a large market that serves international food which is nice. The gym was bigger than expected and well-equipped. I had several issues with my key and they had trouble resolving that. Some of our cabs also arrived late which I suppose wasn't the hotel's fault but on the other hand they called the cabs and seemed pretty casual about the fact that we were getting really late. Overall a big meh. Everything seemed really old but not in the cool way. It could have been worse.

Came up to Minneapolis for a wedding. This was the hotel booked by the bride. I think it was a great choice! They have a shuttle that will take you anywhere in a 5 mile radius. We used it all weekend. They picked us up from the Midtown light rail station from the airport which is much cheaper than a $35 cab ride. We also used the shuttle to go back to the light rail to hit up Mall of America. Then they also took us to the wedding and back. Then drove us around for lunch and entertainment on Sunday. No rental car needed! They were also very timely.

It is next to the Global market which is a great place to grab breakfast in the morning.

The main sad thing was no continental breakfast unless you had an upgrade for the fourth floor.

Rooms were clean and looked great. I would design my bathroom after theirs except have a wider tub... this one was weird but I was showering so no big deal.

Everyone at the desk was very helpful. One of the shuttle drivers had a crazy accent that was a little hard to understand but he was very helpful once you figured it out.

If I was to come back to Minneapolis I would stay here again.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The beds were super comfy, and blinds allowed us to sleep in after a couple long nights. Nice toiletries and great location, especially if you are a bike person. The Mid Town Green way is located directly behind this place. The staff didn't just make me feel comfortable, they made my stay fun. Where do they get all the cute young guys that work here, and can I bring one home with me?
That's saying a lot considering I was here for a funeral. A special thanks to Kyle, Dan, Bunbob, Keith and Katia. Everyone was great but these folks went beyond that. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in the twin cities.

We stayed here for a wedding.  The hotel itself was really nice and the shuttle drivers were very helpful and friendly.

it seemed that the line of communication between the coordinators and the front desk were lacking.  There were a lot of problems with peoples reservations and they had some errors with our shuttles and it just didn't feel like anyone was ever really in charge.

For a SPG hotel, I was a bit disappointed...

Check in: Unremarkable. Nothing to brag or complain about.
Room: I had a room that was facing the bus station and had a perfect view of a run-down liquor store... Wouldn't come here for the view.  Bed was decent. Bathroom was small but clean.
Check out: Unremarkable again... went to the restaurant to get a latte- they said that their coffee and espresso machine wasn't working.  Difficult to rave about a hotel that doesn't have caffeine in the morning!

Con:  No closet or chest of drawers; it's an armoire with smallish shelves.  No fridge.  Windows don't open.  Everything else good.  Not a high end neighborhood, but fun.  International market next door, good location to get to lots of stuff.  Bed is nice.  Free parking but they do some fake take-a-ticket thing to keep strangers out of the lot.  Staff is small but very nice, very efficient, very customer-oriented.  Free shuttle.  Free internet, and it's really fast!  (Ethernet cable or wi-fi.)  Free bottle of water in room, plus one you can buy. Bar/restaurant/lobby is a nice gathering place.  Highly recommended.  Indoor pool (didn't try).

My 4-star rating is based on the fact that I was able to secure  a room relatively last-minute for under $99. As a Sheraton, it has all the expected amenities, nice bed, large TV, spacious rooms, etc. I wasn't able to visit the gym, but I expect it to be nice as well.

As others have mentioned, the surrounding neighborhood itself is less than ideal, but the combination of location (a short car drive from most of minneapolis) + the price makes it a great value.

The short comings of this Sheraton is surprising and for many the location is too dangerousness to chance. For me the violent bus station and dodgy neighborhood is not a turn off, but were I not familiar with city life and overly confident, I would be scared. In short, I wouldn't let my wife stay here.

Let's talk about the short comings. If you happen to get a room that is not on the fourth floor, you might think that your shower were taken from a trailer. You won't have a refrigerator. Don't expect premium channels. The carpets need replaced. The lobby doesn't have coffee or tea. Beyond that I could nit pick.

I like the gym. The bar is nice and well staffed. There is a bike and running path behind the hotel that within broad daylight provides a ten minutes walk to Wells Fargo. Come night fall the same walk will get you to the very gates of Hades in less than ten minutes.  Finally! My favorite part of the Sheraton is it's proximity to the Midtown Market where you can shop and eat at a number of great festival type booths that allow you to have the best of a Street Festival all year around.

Myself and two friends stayed at this property for reasons of convenience.  The hotel appears to be in a dicey neighborhood--its situated near a transit station and the parking lot is right off this depot.  Many of the surrounding businesses have bars on their windows.  However, this is far better than a bunch of boarded-up storefronts and the neighborhood appears to be going through a revival.  Don't let the location deter you from staying.  The staff is very professional--especially the bartenders in the bar.  They were happy to provide information about local attractions and neighborhood events.  They also poured a very good drink.  Food was priced reasonably for a hotel with no other restaurants of its type in the immediate area.

The only disappointing part of the hotel were the beds--the mattresses were rock hard.

SPG Plat member who travels around a bit.

Booked this place because the rate was great considering there was a conference in town. Surrounding neighborhoods are a little sketchy, I wouldn't necessarily feel safe walking around at night but nothing just being aware of your surroundings wouldn't allow you to get over. Private (paid) lot for parking, but its open and sits right next to the city bus stop.

There's a liquor store, Popeyes, and a Midtown Exchange center with all sorts of shops and little food marts inside making things pretty convenient if you need something to eat on the go.

Room was on the club floor. Club floor offers horderves and breakfast - standard stuff. I couldn't understand why they kept taking away all the waters at night - most places leave it which is nice should I need to grab a bottle on my way back from the gym. Room itself when I entered had just been cleaned so it was in a state of disarray. I didn't mind much seeing how I was tired. Room was small and looked dated and bathroom was equally small with hardly any shelf/table space to put down your items. Internet is free for anyone to use (no password).

Gym is big compared to other hotels and well-equipped. I appreciated this the most. There's a pool too however it isn't very deep (~4ft) so I didn't bother.

I probably won't be back to this location.

To the power that be, let it be known that I had a great experience at this hotel. All thanks to Tony from the front desk! He made me and my family very welcome, like my second home. If there is an award for GREAT customer service. Please give that to Tony!!! Please private message me if you need my information on this.

For EVERYONE else. This hotel is a "jewel" hidden in mid-town in a bit of a rough area, but the staffs are great. From front desk to housekeeping. Very attentive! It is clean and updated. The gym and heated swimming pool /sauna are in pristine condition. It even has an underground entrance to the Midtown Global Market where you can find some great food and "local" market shopping. Kind of remind me of the Reading Terminal Market in downtown Philadelphia.

The club lounge if you can get upgrade has water fully stocked everyday.  Breakfast in the morning and Hors d'oeuvre in the afternoon are good.

This hotel is within minutes some good Vietnamese food and other ethnic good food.

Need I say more?? Will stay here again if I get a chance.
