My wife and I were in St.Louis for a friends wedding and even thought the wedding was in the West County area we stayed Downtown the first 2 night so I can show my wife where I grew up. The Crown Plaza had an amazing lobby and when when we were checking in I asked if they had any suites available and sure enough they did and it was only $30.00 more than what we were paying. When we get up to the room, we noticed that the living room area was surrounded by blinds. We opened the blinds to see an amazing view of the Arch and the park below. Not only did the living room have 2 walls that were really windows but, there was a sliding glass door to a balcony and if you step outside you have a full view of the Arch and at night it "kinda" reminded me of the times when I lived in St. Louis and of all the great times I had there. The room had a seperate bed room and a full size kitchen as well. "Well worth the extra money" The hotel had a great workout room and is walking distance from wonderful restaurants and sites. The staff was great and if we needed anything at all they always helped us. *** Whenever in St.Louis remember to eat the toasted ravioli****

I stayed here once for a friend's birthday party, and never got over the rooftop pool.  The view of the Arch on a sunny summer day was more than I could have bargained for.  Our party of four was completely alone at noon on a Sunday, and it stayed that way for an hour.  

Our room was nice too, and affordable, with lots of pillows and plush furnishings.  But like I said, the main attraction here is the pool and the proximity to the nightlife downtown.

I stayed here for New Year's Eve, and I was pretty impressed with the hotel. Checking in took some time, but the clerks were extremely personable and friendly. The lobby looked great, though I didn't see what was up the escalators.
As for the room, we paid $97 base price, and that went up to $107 after the 15.49% tax. Parking was $10, so it was $117 total. The parking garage was a mess, and we're pretty sure that someone slammed into his car overnight. There is hardly any room to maneuver, and it's a clusterjam. The parking situation removes the one star.
The room was great. It had a kitchen area with coffee and a fridge. There was a decent-sized closet with an ironing board and hangers.
There was a desk (with complimentary internet) as well as a lounge chair and ottoman. The view was awesome as you looked down on the city and at the bridges.
Clean bathroom, comfortable bed, and hey, they even gave you a sleeping peacefully cd.
The room was well-kept, and I saw online where they have rates as low as $65 sometimes. I would stay here again and recommend it.

If you're doing the sports thing in Saint Louis, this is the place to be.  You're just a short walk from the stadium, which is very convenient if it's you're first time in Saint Louis.  Overall the experience was positive.  The rooms are not particularly spacious, but that really is not a big deal, you're basically just sleeping there right?  When I was checking out the hotel directory, I found some leftover printouts from Craigslist that were for In-call escorts which was a little on the eww side, and the parking situation in the lot next door is a total disaster.  Outside of that however, everything was good.  The staff members are completely professional, which was a real pleasure after being on the road for 5 hours.  Good experience.

Old and dirty.  We had a fabulous view of the arch but the rooms and hallways are in desperate need of a renovation. The room smelled funky. I would not stay there again.

i booked two 2-room suites for last weekend's bachelorette party.  the location was perfect because both washington street and the landing are a very quick cab ride away in the rain or nice walk in good weather.

i booked the suites online for a total of $372.  each suite had 2 bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen), 2 bathrooms, a large living room, and a full kitchen.  we were very impressed with the amount of space and the views of the city.

the living space and kitchen were perfect for opening gifts and having drinks before heading out for the night.  the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable.  

4 stars because the rooms seemed a little worn.  clean but definitely a little rough around the edges.  it was clear that one of the bedrooms doors had been kicked in before and was not patched very well.

sidenote:  the garage smells TERRRRRRIBLE!  luckily there were some hotel employees on golfcarts who helped all of the girls bring their luggage in while i checked in - a very nice touch!

We were looking for something cheap for one night and were pleasantly suprised when we opened the door to a suite. We had a living room, and bedroom and a killer view.

Parking was easy enough with the attached garage. In and out as you please with validation from the front desk for $10.

We even got a sleep relaxation CD, that I must admit we tried. It was a little creepy but I did pass right out.

Service, Hospitality, Everything... the husband had to live here for almost a month, and what a pleasure. Anatasia at the front desk was our favorite... she emanates joy and kindness... if we ever need a place in St Louis to stay again... we will be back. AND the rooms are HUGGEEEE!!!!!!!

Despite being a native St. Louisan, I recently moved to California and have found myself staying at the Crowne Plaza each of the two times I've returned home.

My first stay started off quite rocky.  I waited outside in my car for 15 minutes waiting for the valet to get around to helping me.  Upon finally getting inside and to the reservations desk, I waited another 20 minutes just to check-in.  When I finally reached the front of the line the woman excused herself and said she'd be right back to help me, but never returned.  There were no bellmen available to assist with my bags so I ended up pushing the big cart up to my room myself.  

To the hotel's defense, there was a large convention downtown that weekend.  But more staff should have been on call.

The room itself was what redeemed my stay.  It was a little shabby (could use an update on the carpet and furniture) but we somehow ended up in a three-room suite on the 28th floor, complete with a large balcony that had the most magnificent view of the arch and riverfront that I've ever seen (and I grew up here!).  The bed was big and comfy and everything was tidy.

The rest of our stay was smooth, and when we returned last weekend for another stay, the valet and front desk service was much improved.  I wasn't entirely impressed with our room this time (they refused to accommodate my request for a room with a balcony or a view even though I later learned there were some available) but I got it for a steal so I can't complain.  It was clean and comfortable and that's all I needed.

As an aside, our travel companions did not receive their wake-up call the first morning they were in the hotel.  True to their guarantee (which is on the nightstand), the Crowne comped their room for that entire night to make it up to them.

Day 1- Get to my room, they gave me a double-sized room with a great view of the arch and two beds...with a mirror placed directly in front of one of the beds.  Tacky.  Room was BOILING hot and no sign of an individual thermostat.  Call down to the front desk and was assured that while I was at work, someone would fix it.  Get back from work, room was still boiling hot, even with the windows opened.  Called back down, another repairman came up and said there was not much he could do but open the window and give me a small fan.  Fine.

Day 2- Wake up sweating and with work papers stuck to my head.  In desperate need of a shower.  Turned faucet on, let it run for a few minutes, laid out my clothes.  Go back in, water is FREEZING cold.  Called downstairs, front-desk guy remembers me.  After explaining that my room had no hot water, he informed me that they were working on the pipes and had to turn the water off.  He offered to give me a key to the shower in another room downstairs that was not affected by this.  No thanks, i'll wait.  30 minutes later, the maintenance guy comes in and turns on the faucet in my kitchen area, bathroom sink, and the shower.  He told me to let it run for ten minutes and it should work.  Lovely.

Room service is okay; tasty, but exactly what you think hotel-food would be like.  Delicious bread pudding.  Not much around here in way of food aside from a chinese buffet, quiznos, jimmy john's, and subway.  

Sleep was comfy, pillows are too squishy, so even though they give you like 7 pillows per bed, they are paper thin once you put your head down.  Either that or my head is just ginormous.  

Considering my first encounter with people in St. Louis was with two prisoners (unbeknownst to me when I first starting speaking with them) who literally just got released from prison, still had uniforms on, subway in hands, and their $50 debit card, my hotel experience was overall pleasant with only a few minor hiccups.  I've been to worse...

The Crowne Plaze was pretty sure to get 3 stars from me, based on location alone. As a home base for being in town for a Cards game, it definitely got the job done.

We got in town early enough to wander Washington Ave. for a couple hours before the game. While the location's good for people going to the Landing, we were feeling lower-key and its proximity to the Wash Ave. bars helped us celebrate a Cards win. The lobby bar was comfy and surprisingly not too crowded after the game.

The room was fine. We were on the 5th floor so not much of a view, but as I said above we were here to enjoy a baseball game and the sights of St. Louis, not to hang out at the hotel.

The location is great, but the quality is sub-par.  The walls are paper thin as I could literally hear my neighbor's phone conversations, TV, alarm and showering schedule.
The rooms definitely need to be updated starting with the pillows (like sleeping on a sheet) and mattress (hard as a rock and could feel every spring). I would definitely spend more next time and stay at a nicer, more updated hotel.

Ok. I'm from Philadelphia. I  get the big city thing - safety, dirt, etc. Having said that, this Crowne Plaza is a dump. The parking lot is a bizarre, twisting lot with NO ELEVATORS and a maze to get to and from your car - so unload your bags at the curb.

The hotel itself seems to be mostly smoking rooms. We requested 2 non-smoking rooms, and they were out. In fact, they could not put us and our teenage kids on the same floor. We were both placed on smoking only floors (what hotel has 2 full smoking floors still?) and the halls reeked of smoke. They rooms weren't so bad, but still smelled. With us and the kids on separate floors, I am not normally concerned, but this hotel honestly felt a little unsafe (and both I and my guy grew up in large urban areas, so it's not us being overly paranoid).

The halls were dirty, and there were hordes of teens and adults shouting throughout the night. The rooms were fairly clean, as were the linens. Our rooms had a beautiful view of the arch - the best part of the stay. But they were both weird shapes - like a C shape - so the TV wasn't really visible from the bed or the chair.

Anyway, if you need a cheap place downtown, maybe this is it. But it is NOT a 3.5 star hotel. No way, no how. And double lock your door.

We stayed at another Crowne Plaza on this same trip, in Memphis. That one was a 3.5 star hotel. All non-smoking, clean, and safer overall despite being in a slightly worse neighborhood. The one in St. Louis is not at all in the same league.

Our team came here for the FIRST Robotics Championship and they gave away all of our rooms. Even after we had two mentors check in at 4:30 and be told their rooms werent ready. Had to sit in the lobby for 2 hours until they scrambled to find us rooms not equipped for the number of people they were for. Very disappointing. On top of all of this, they ran out of towels for the hotel. Yes, that's correct- they overbooked the hotel, but didn't have enough towels for the FULL hotel. One day housekeeping didn't even get to our room.

I thought this crowne plaza was very nice. The rooms are large and the hotel staff was accommodating.  The staff was friendly. I gave it 3 stars because of the location. It seems like the area was pretty dead at night. Its not an area hopping with young people.

I am so torn on this place!!!

The very cool Sleep CD, eye mask, linen spray, ear plugs, etc - they give you.
Spacious rooms with fridge and extra sink
Self park OR Valet
SUPER close to Arch and Courthouse - an easy walk
Food wasn't too bad

The restaurant service is terrible
My room had a faint smell of smoke
The bar is a huge open area next to the lobby and its just odd
It took SEVEN MINUTES to get hot water out of my shower
It took me way too long to find the thermostat to adjust my room temp

I love the linen spray so much I brought it to my next hotel! I'd consider staying here again but I think I would complain more about the smell and water.

stayed here this past weekend for a bachelor party downtown.  It's an older hotel but its clean and the service was great.  Location was wonderful too.  Will probably stay here again.

So we booked two nights at this place... and only stayed one(unwillingly)  We got into town super late.  Once we got to the room we tried to turn on the AC.  To our surprise there was no AC in the room.  You don't get to control your own room temp settings.  

After we called to figure out what the deal was we then found out they have a 48 HOUR cancellation policy... So I thought we were going to be stuck staying there.  They promised to move us to a room that should be cooler and give us a fan.  While its not there fault the temp outside was unseasonably warm they should have some sort of alternative to make things better.

Even worse the room they moved us to had a leak in the ceiling and when we woke up our bag was wet and so were some of our stuff.  Not a huge deal but still a pain in the a**.  The manager promised a refund for our troubles but its been over a month and I haven't heard anything.  

Also, I keep calling and leaving messages and no one ever returns my calls...

Update-  Just spoke to Samantha.  I dealt with Felicia the day that the carpet was wet.  Samantha now informs me that there was no leak from the ceiling that both security and an engineer said they didn't see a leak.  

I stood there with security and the engineer and the engineer checked the non-functioning AC unit then confirmed the water mark on the wall and said it must be the unit above our room leaking down...

Stay here every year for the Missouri Valley Conference Basketball Tourney. Most of the rooms are spacious, however if you get stuck near the vending machines you end up with a half room. Not all rooms have refrigerators if you are planning to use one. Overall a great hotel within walking distance of everything downtown, but I have had better stays.

Whenever I stay at hotels, I will admit I only use Hotwire. I always get an awesome rate and it has never failed me. My stay at the Crowne Plaza was no different.

When we got there, they gave us a king size bed (ooo wink,wink). The room was on the 10th floor and close to the elevator although we never had an issue with noise which was nice. The room was also very spacious. I honeslty can't complain about the room.

My favorite thing about this hotel though is that it is literally like two blocks from Laclede's Landing and the Lumiere. Perfect! I don't want to take a cab, I'd rather walk and it was conducive staying here.

A negative: the cleaning lady tried to come into our room twice when we had told them we were not leaving until check out AND I had the door hanger on there saying do not disturb..oh well..

Wonderful service. Nice comfortable beds as expected at the Crowne Plaza.  The room is quite spacious and clean.  Awsome view of the Gateway Arch! The hotel is within walking distance to many historical sites.

I stayed here for two nights with friends. We had one 2-bed room and 1 King Suite room. The 2-bed room was large and had 2 QUEEN beds. I like to emphasize QUEEN, because a lot of hotels only have 2 double beds. It had 1 regular bathroom. The view directly out of our window was of a hotel across the street. If we looked down, we could see the street. And, if we looked East, we could see the Arch. It was not a bad view. And, as I said, the room was large. It made it feel a lot less cramped than the typical hotel room by having some open space in there. The room also had a small refrigerator. The room was clean and had all the towels and sheets that we needed. Also, there were two air-conditioners in the room. One of them worked and one did not. We were fine with this as the windows do open (though you would not want to open them if you had kids in the room) and it was cool out anyway. However, if it were hot out, this would not have been sufficient.

As for the King suite, It had a bedroom with a king bed, and, in a living space, a couch with a pullout bed (probably a double bed size). This room overall was probably the same size as the 2-bed room, but it had a wall separating the bedroom from the living area. It actually felt smaller to us. However, it did have a balcony which was nice. It also had a great view of the Arch and the river. The room did NOT have a refrigerator. Also, it did not have a full bathtub. It was kind of a half tub with shower in it. That was the only bathroom in the room. We all felt that the 2-bed room was the better value unless you prefer/require more privacy. The suite was clean, but they did not have any extra sheets or pillows for someone to sleep on the couch bed. We had to call the front desk and have them brought up at around 3 AM. It was over an hour wait for them. Then, the next morning, it was realized that there were not enough towels for 3 people either. So, they had to call for those. It was about 30 minutes wait for them, which isn't so bad for the morning I guess.

The front desk service was friendly. There is a parking garage right at the hotel basically, it was $10 a day for us. There is a rooftop pool, but it was not opened for the year yet while we were there. The location of the hotel by the arch and the river was nice. It is in downtown, so as long as you don't mind walking a bit (either to a place, or to a metro stop), it's in walking distance to everything basically. Also, they do have free wireless access in the hotel for guests. There is also a bar and a restaurant (separate from each other) in the hotel. We did not use either, so cannot comment on them.

I'd definitely stay here again, as long as the price is competitive with other decent hotels in the area... and it wasn't the hottest months of summer.

My husband and I opted for a Stay-cation and stayed at the Crown Plaza. It is crazy to me that I have lived here for 5 years and every once in a while I feel like a get a totally different view of the city!

Great location
Wonderful view of the arch and downtown from the rooftop.
Most rooms have a balcony
Pricing is reasonable
Walking distance from several local attractions

Decor is a bit tacky
Rooftop pool is tiny
Hotel Restaurant has little options for healthy eaters
The bathrooms in the rooms are just kind of weird

We stayed here with two other couples last July. It took 45 minutes to stand in line to check in, only to be told there was not a room ready for us, but one was opening up soon. The other couples were able to go up to their rooms.  After an hour I called back and spoke to the manager who said  our original clerk must be lying to us because there was not a room being prepared for us. Really? Bad, bad, bad customer service. Not something you want happening after a long day of traveling. We finally got a room at 8pm at night. It was a nice room with a view of the arch, but I would not book here again.

Another couple had a room on the smoking floor, which smelled very musty, and the air conditioning did not work

The decor is a little dated, but the staff are amazing and our room was huge.  The views from our window were spectacular.  You could almost touch the Arch, City Hall, and stadiums.  If you asked me if I wanted to pay an extra $100 a night for a new carpet, the answer is no.    The rates are really reasonable & the people are amazingly helpful.

The Crowne Plaza seems to be one of the more overlooked hotels in downtown St. Louis, but it does not have as much to offer as some of the other higher end hotels in the area.

The rooms are actually very large. The hotel is old, and you can tell that they have renovated the rooms, but you can still easily tell that they are old. The thermostat in our room was broken, but we were too intoxicated to bother getting another room so late at night. The customer service was friendly and accommodating. We were on the 21st floor and had an awesome view of the arch, which was nice! The bar was completely empty on a Friday evening and so was the lobby in general.

I would prefer to stay at the Hyatt, Hilton, or Millennium any day, but the prices were cheap and service was good, so I'll give The Crowne and A-Ok.

This place almost got a 5-star from me!  The staff was super-friendly and even upgraded my room for free to a corner room on the 27th facing the Arch...AWESOME VIEW!
The previous complaints I'd read about the hot water were never an issue for me.  If anything, I had to watch how hot the water was when I started the shower or I would've probably lost a layer of skin!
My room was a suite and it rivaled many apartments I've rented in terms of size.  It was spacious, clean, and nice.
The hotel restaurant was not busy but the staff was very friendly. I ate alone while I waited for my party to arrive and my waiter and I passed the time talking about the NBA Finals that were going on.  The food was tasty and well-portioned - I ordered the 1/2 rack St. Louis style ribs.
Con's time:
The TV's are still tube ones and remind you of the hotel's age.  LCD/LED TV's would've been nice.  I did notice that there were some TV's stashed in some places so maybe they're in the process of replacing them.
There is only free wired Internet in your room.  If you want wireless, you'll need to go to the bar or a few other places in the hotel and pay for it (listed in their Guest Directory).  I brought my iPad 2 and was pretty much screwed because I didn't own an Airport Express yet.
They were skimpy on towels. I had 2 in the room and no wash cloths.
The gym is nice and most of the equipment have attached TV's so you can pass the time. Unfortunately, the equipment is older and not gym quality and some of the equipment and TV's and equipment were OOC.
Lastly, the path from the parking lot to the hotel goes past a dumpster and there is no way to avoid the smell.

I actually bunked up with Rachel S. on her 2nd stay at the Crown Plaza Downtown STL, and for those wondering minds out there, we shared beds with our hubbies, not each other...I know you are all sorely disappointed!

I have to agree with Rachel S. that our room, while decent, was nothing to get too excited about.  It was decent size and our beds were comfortable, though a full is never quite big enough for my hubby and me.  The carpet and decor needs an update, but we did score it on Hotwire for less than $100 a night, so it was well worth it.

The service was fine for us from bell boy to reception desk to valet, we had no issues and I always think that is a plus.

I don't know that I would pay the listed price on the website to stay here, but it wasn't bad for what we needed - a place to shower and lay our heads over Halloween weekend. :)

It definitely worked and I would not be disappointed if Hotwire planted me here again.

******Need to update and renovate.
My stay was from July 31 to August 6.
1. Lobby had awful smell.
2. Too many flies in the lobby area.
3. Escalator in lobby to the PR level was not working the entire time of our stay (6nights).
4. Shuttle service provided has a 3 mile radius.
5. Bartender, Sylester was nasty and rude - no tip.
6. Bartender, Martiz is great. Friendly and very informative and knowledgeable of the city. Told us of great places to eat and to listen to music.
7. Restaurant meals to expensive. Hotel offered meal discounts, which was not worth the service.
8. Elevators were very slow.
9. Unable to control thermostat in hotel room.
10. Great view of "The Arch".
11. Lobby furniture needs to be updated.
12. Close to Monty's sandwich shop - great food.
13. Hallways are very drab.
14. Observation deck nice view of the city.

I was very pleased with this place.  We were on the 23rd floor with a great view of the Arch.  We had a balcony, which, from what I understood, means we had a smoking room.  You can smoke on the balcony but not in the actual room.  Neither of us smoke, but the balcony was cool!  The room was HUGE.  We had 2 queen beds, a couch, chair and coffee table, desk/office area, a microwave, mini fridge, iron, coffee pot.  The wifi is free.  The bed was super comfortable.  The only gripes I have are 1) the bathroom is small and no fan, and 2). we couldn't adjust the a/c, it wasn't an option, and 3). the elevators were kinda slow.  The parking is $10, but the front office will validate your tickets.  I was overall pleased and will be going back soon.  It's in a great location, we walked to the Arch, and it took us less than 10 min.  The staff was very friendly and attentive.

This is an older hotel, and I am used to staying in newer ones, so that may have colored my perceptions.  
The staff was friendly.  The rooms were clean (and huge!) with inexplicably small bathrooms.  The pool was on the roof, and was really cool.  We had a catered dinner at the event we were attending, and the food was delicious.  They had a chocolate layered cake that was phenomenal!  Internet was free, which you don't usually get from a higher-end hotel.  
Aside from the age of the hotel, and some iffy-ness with the air conditioner (it worked, but not well), I had few major complaints.  Specifically, the elevators were slow and inefficient.  I seemed only a couple were working at a time, and all were incredibly crowded, especially if you had luggage.  The parking garage was dirty, smelly, and dirty condensation leaked from above, which was pretty nasty if it hit you.  The buffet breakfast was very expensive, and seemed no different than the free continental breakfast you can get at other hotels.  Very overpriced.   It served its purpose, and the pool was cool, but nothing else was too special.  

Fun tidbit: my mom returned to her room on Saturday night, to find approximately 20 towels, and an extra mattress sitting in her room, partially blocking her fridge/microwave/coffee access.  The front desk was puzzled, no explanation was offered, and the staff did not come to get them until the next day, despite several phone calls.  So they might have an elf problem or something, I'm not sure.

More like 2.5 stars. The only reason they get that high is the location, and the room size.
Really the location is great 17th floor room with a balcony looking at the arch that's nice. Larger than average rooms. Lucky we had a killer fire works show and concert at the arch it was fun to watch from such a great location.
Things seam to go down hill from there.The street noise was overly loud I've stayed in other hotels that didn't seam to have this problem even in Downtown Chicago .Then there was the towel thing like the next day 14 hours later after several calls and broken promises finally got some clean towels.

Ok great location but in serious need of some remodeling and general cleaning. My room was less than clean and I wouldn't even sit in the chair I'm not sure what happened in it. No flat screen TV ?

Ok great location but the parking thing is like a maze and dirty, and who would put a dumpster by the only door leading in from the parking garage nice in the 100 degree heat.

Ok great location walk to the Arch and some very good restaurants near by but needs some help.

Ugh. This will be my last visit to any Crowne Plaza. They all are like this one.

The lobby is deceiving - it's nice and looks like the hotel would be a good place to stay. The hallways and the rooms are old and dingy. The decor is dated, it's dinged up and has seen better days. The room appeared mostly clean so that's a plus.

The room itself was poorly laid out but it was a fairly large room. There was a nook behind the TV. Yep, behind it. Big enough for a chair but that's it. But for the life of me, I can't understand why the room was spacious but they made the bathroom so tiny.  The toilet was almost under the sink.  

This hotel is over priced. I don't know why Crowne's are old & run down but they still charge like a higher class hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding recently. The location of this hotel is great -- right in the heart of St. Louis and you can walk to both Busch Stadium and the dome where the Rams play. You can see the Arch from some views. The bedroom area itself was of good quality. What I didn't care for was the quality of the bathroom. The bathroom is very small and the handles to flush the toilet are like those from a public bathroom, which I absolutely hate.

A few other negatives: The lobby seemed to be very crowded, like fire code violation crowded. Taking the elevator to a room is annoying, as the elevators run slow and you often have to wait to take the next lift since the first one is already full of people. It's very annoying to take a crowded elevator that stops at every floor only for the person who was waiting on it to be unable to get on it due to capacity.  For a hotel with something like six elevators, the service should be quicker and better.

Lastly, the parking garage situation is rough in a lot of ways.

I admit I tend to dwell on the negative aspects. There are worse hotels, but I don't know if this one is good for the cost.

First stay at a Crowne Plaza, we usually stay at 4 star + properties but the price and location were fine for our firSt trip to St Louis.
Parking: they charge for self park, $10.00 per night. The garage is pretty old and leaks water from the roof (it's not raining) and is pretty old and ghetto.
Lobby & Service: The MOD checked us in and was very nice and helpful with area resturaunts, the lobby is nice and clean.
Room: it appears to have been referbished within the past 5 years but it was cheap and poorly done. The tub is blue and the finish is wearing off, the paint is yellow, the wall coverings are tan and the white tile is poorly refinished bright white with with putty patches throughout.
The mattress and box springs squeak something fearce, the old windows don't block the street noise and worst of all the A/C was not keeping us cool through the night. I would hate to try sleeping in the summer months.
The hallway on the 21st floor is unvacuumed and stained and the room doors are chipped and dirty, it's not very nice to see this condition when you have just checked in and going to your room after an exhausting day of travel.
I would not stay here again in the future, pretty disappointed.

Great hotel, really close to everything St. Louis has to offer, nice big bar with TV's huge workout room. Love that its like as soon as you drive into St. Louis, you are in the hotel. Parking could use some work, maybe a parking garage reno? Seems like it was developed for a smaller hotel. Stayed with a wedding group so no idea what the actual rates are.

I'll give two stars because of the great view and location. Otherwise this hotel leaves much to be desired. The decor is old and dated. The paint is chipping.  The carpet was stained and dirty. My white socks were grey after walking around the room. The worst part was the bathroom. The shower was marginal and had minimal pressure. There was a vent over the shower with mold literally hanging out of it in clumps. Disgusting!! The sink in the bathroom would not drain. Parking was a nightmare in an old confusing filthy parking structure attached to the hotel. Despite the fact the we parked ourselves, we found a ten dollar valet parking charge on our bill, which we had to go to the desk to have removed. The TV was nice and modern, but it was tucked into a corner of the room and there was no place to sit and watch it. Overall- not someplace that I would ever stay again.

This is by far one of the WORST hotels I've ever stayed in. When I arrived at 6pm after already requesting a single king size bed for me and my partner we opened the room to find that it had not been cleaned and there were 2 twin beds side by side. I went down to the lobby and the person at the front desk said there were no more rooms available. When I told him that I was traveling with a certain touring company... All of a sudden a room appeared. The towels in the room were stained, the air conditioning was barely coming out. This hotel looks like dump. It's old and not taken care of. Since I'm not from here I asked for directions and NO ONE that worked there seemed to know ANYTHING that was around their own place of business. The staff that I encountered were rude and unprofessional. Right down to the housekeeper that basically got mad that she had to clean my room ( which is her job) and by clean all I needed were towels and my bed made. All of the employees take smoke breaks in the parking garage making the hotel look and smell like a trashy bar. I've worked in hospitality before so I know what GOOD service is and I know how to handle hi volume. This hotel and its staff need a good attitude adjustment and face lift. You can guarantee that my company will NEVER stay here again and I will make sure that other touring companies know about this place. Boo.....!!!!

Beautiful hotel.  We our room was clean and prepared to our liking but the view, well, where else can you view the arch up so close.  

Definitely have to work on the food though.  We didnt finish even though we were starving.  We had a sandwich and a salad, which had wilty rotty veggies, terrible :(

I stayed at this hotel Oct 28-Nov 3 2013 and on the last evening I found TWO roaches in the bed. This was on the 25th floor and I had a friend staying on the 4th floor who also had the same problem. The hotel did remove one night off the bill and the complaint seemed the norm. This hotel is in a great location but needs serious upgrading and a full fumigation.

Great location. We walked to good restaurants (within 10 blocks)
View of the arch.
Big rooms.

Air conditioner was weird.
Housekeeping seemed confused about any request.
We could hear everything in the hallway.
The front desk did not know about their shuttle that was supposed to take us to the wedding.
The parking garage was a disgusting maze with water leaking everywhere.
The floor in our room was dirty. After a shower my feet were visibly dirty within a half hour.
The bathroom was tiny.  The counter space was so small, I feared dropping things in the toilet. When I put the toilet seat lid down condensation built up and then dripped all over the seat when put back up. You had to put the lid down in order to flush the toilet.
No conditioner.
$2 for hot water and a tea bag. What happened to continental breakfasts?

I stayed here a few weeks ago.  I had stayed here before and it was fine.  But this trip was pretty bad.  We needed a cheap box fan to stay cool, house keeping didn't clean our room or bathroom, I had to call down twice for towels, when the room was cleaned, they forgot to leave towels.  I called housekeeping and management but no one called back.   The toilet had to be flushed 4 or 5 times to empty.  Pretty sure we won't be back.

Really disappointed in our stay here this weekend.  First of all there were no thermostats, just two outdated vents that you could not turn off.  If I had to guess, I'd say our room was about 85 degrees, and opening the windows did not do a lick of good because we were on the 22nd floor.  Without the door open there's no air flow at all.  All they could manage was to bring us a fan which was barely enough to get us through the night, which is all we were staying or else I would have made them give us a new room.

When I was checking out, I told the woman at the front desk about how hot it was and she made no effort to compensate us for our discomfort, in fact the next words out of her mouth were "It looks like you have a $10 charge for parking."  

I will not stay here again, and I wish I would have checked the reviews before making my reservation.

Stayed here on 8-31-14 after attending Card /Cub game..room was not available before the game as promised so I asked to use upstairs Lobby restroom  to wash my hands.It was being cleaned and even though someone was in a stall the housekeeper snarled at me for asking to wash my hands.  Nice customer service. They stored our luggage and preregistered us so we only needed to show our ID to get the room ..only 1 evening attendant at the desk..I waited 2nd in line..and older couple rudely butted in front of me and another desk clerk came to help them instead of me..my husband was told that THEY were  first..I assured them they were not..there was NO apology making us wait..again..the day staff in the front desk was  OK ..the evening..awful. The bellman was very good and took bags to our room.
The only bartender moved like a snail with MANY patrons waiting for a drink. We went  down to the Hyatt where they know how to hire a bartender that knows how to move and serve a crowd. They should staff accordingly ..knowing when the Cubs are in town there will be MANY people willing to spend money. Bad management.
The room was OK..on floor 15..one coffee packet for a double occupancy however. The toilet tissue dispenser was broken..so the roll had  to be up on the small sink where it got wet..really tacky in my opinion and it would have been an easy fix.
The whole place could  use remodeling..carpet is nasty and it has an odor.  Maybe they need to watch a couple episodes of HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE to get some guidance.

I think the staff of this hotel  needs some serious education  about the hospitality business,as there are MANY other choices in the area..We stayed at the  Hyatt the night before and sorry we left there to stay here. From the other reviews it seems this is their standard

The hotel isn't in a bad location, but I definitely had a less than pleasant experience, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't an isolated experience.

My biggest complaint has to be other guests.  I understand that the hotel can't control who is staying at their hotel, and I get that if you can pay the hotel rates you should be able to stay there, but there should be some limits.  I was at the hotel for a wedding, but the wedding block was spread out and I got stuck on a floor of drunk teenagers.  A drunk man tried to break into my room at 2 am, swore at me through the door when I told him that he was at the wrong room and I had to have security to make sure he didn't actually get in my room.  However, instead of putting him in the right room and asking his friends to shut down their party, security simply told him to stay away from my room.  Never mind the fact that after he tried to break in I actually wanted to be able to sleep peacefully.

The hotel parking garage needs complete reconstruction.  It's very confusing, not easy to navigate and the further down you go the less safe it becomes.  I think part of the problem is that the Crowne Plaza shares the garage with another business, but there's got to be a better way to straighten out the parking.

The view of the Arch was the best feature of the room, but if I were to stay downtown again I would definitely consider a different hotel.

Let me start off by saying that I have stayed a several Crowne Plazas and have enjoyed the experiences, but when my wife and I used priceline and got this place as an express deal for 45/ a night i should have known. There is NO WAY this place is a 3 1/2 star hotel its more like a 2 star. The hotel staff is very nice but the rooms were in such need of a makeover. We found what looked like blood spots over the wall, mold in the bathroom and a thermostat that didn't work. Oh and i forgot to mention the first night, no sleep at all. People slamming doors and partying all night long. Reminded me of 15 years ago in a frat house when i was a student. Called security twice with no solution, The next morning i asked to move rooms. The manager in the morning said she would call me when the room was ready for us to move.... you guessed it no call. when we got back from our day out we were given a room on a higher floor with an arch view but same issue, slamming doors all night, broken thermostat and dirty room. We ended up leaving a day early and just ate the last night on our bill. This place was way below our expectations for the crowne plaza name. Don't waste time or money staying at this place. Going to contact the GM and have this resolved..... VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!

I should have read the reviews before booking this instead of trusting the crowne plaza name.

First, the good: The room itself was nice with a great view, unfortunately the balcony was completely barren. I guess I was lucky to be in a recently renovated one (2306). You'll get the same view in the neighboring hotels, so that's not really a selling point.
Some of the staff, including the manager, are very nice.

Now the bad: I booked the room for 3 people in a room with one king bed and one sofa bed weeks in advance. (They charge extra for people after 2 guests, bear that in mind for later)
When I drove in, I was left to wonder where to park my car. Finally, I was told to go around the block to get in through an other entrance which brought me back to the original parking lot. Go figure! Directions in the parking lot are nowhere to be found and very confusing. The garage is badly lit and disgusting stuff is dangling from the pipes along the ceiling. Creepy! There is no elevator in the 6 level garage, so if you haven't dropped off your luggage, you'll have to haul it on the ramps where cars are going up and down.
There was only 1 towel set in the room, so we had to request 2 more.
The sofa bed wasn't made and there was no linens for it in the room, so I had to call the front desk/housekeeping again. Reaching anyone at either desk took forever. It'll just keep ringing. Wait for it. When you get someone to finally pick up, don't expect a greeting. I had to talk to someone 3 times to get linens. The third time, I asked how long it'd take since I was waiting to go to bed and it had been over 30 minutes since the last call that was answered. I was told in a very unpleasant way that I was the 6th person in line for house keeping duty! It was after 11pm!!!
When the linens came (probably took a solid hour since the first call), I wasn't offered for the bed to be made, I was just dumped sheets that weren't ironed and a blanket - I closed my eyes hoping that they were clean ones... Fine, I was gonna make my bed myself anyways, since 2 of us were already sleeping and I was in my PJs, but I'd like at least to be asked... No sorry, no nothing.
If you know 3 people are checking in, please be prepared to receive 3 people in the room!
Also, the wifi connection just doesn't work, or is so slow that you can forget about it. I saw a flyer next to the tv cabinet advertising hi speed internet on the tv. Yeah right, as if streaming is going to work when I can't even connect my phone and read emails.
One more complaint: the elevator system desperately needs upgrade for this 29-storied building. The wait time can be very long because of it, with a messy flock of people in the lobby getting aggravated... Splitting the elevators between those servicing the higher or lower floors could be helpful...

Bottom line: look elsewhere, don't go there! You've been warned.

And that's how my first yelp review goes down. It took a terrible place like this to get me worked up enough to write one.

Booked a group of 10, relatively easy. Stayed Oct 20 for one night. The check-in was a nightmare. Apparently the first time the front desk team handled 5 rooms, 10 people? They couldn't get the process right within the property management system, issued keys to the same room for half of our group, and confused themselves on the credit card processing/billing (more to come on this later).

Staff did not know the public transportation schedule/options to the airport. (Really?) When I asked about how to arrange transportation, two staff answered "not sure." Had to look it up myself.

Received bank statement, found that they charged me twice for the same room. Called hotel three times. The operator transferred me to the "Manager-on-duty voicemail". You've got to be kidding!!! The voice mail stated they would call me back by the end of the current day. I called three days in a row and have yet to receive a returned phone call!!!!! Called the GM. No surprise, voicemail, no returned call.

This is by far the worse guest response I have encountered.

Avoid this hotel, they don't know how to run the basics.

So, we called to make sure our sweet would be ready for us. We requested a room with an arch view and a crib and sheets and blanket for the pullout bed.
All were confirmed to be waiting for our arrival.
None of which we got without a room change and two calls to the front desk. Not to mention the urine decorated toilet seat, left up, after the room cleaning.
Don't even get me started on how long it took us to get our car out of the garage.

We got a great deal on priceline for the Crowne Plaza, so we left the toddler with Grandma and Grandpa and went out for a last pre-baby adventure.  

The room was huge, but the heater/ac did not work and because we were in a Priceline room, they would not move us.  Finally after having to let his inner Papa Bear come out, they moved us to a room with working a/c.  Once I landed in the oh-so-comfy king sized bed, I was out like a light.  

I would have given it four stars had they not given us so much grief over using priceline.  That was the biggest bummer for me.

Nice downtown hotel & centrally located. My room was very clean and the lounge is beautiful.
One downside was that my room had no thermostat...when I travel I do like having my room around 60. If I had stayed more than one night it may have angered me more than it did.

I see a lot of negative reviews on here, but I just stayed at this hotel recently after getting a good deal on Priceline and had a great experience. All of the employees I came into contact with were extremely helpful and provided great customer service. My room was also spotless when I arrived. Based on my experience, I'd recommend this hotel!

Decent hotel in a great downtown location. I really don't have a lot to say about it because I didn't spend a lot of time in it. I will say these few things though:

1. That parking lot is kind of scary. I was expecting someone in a hoodie and ski mask, holding a hatchet to appear at any moment.

2. That bed was pretty comfy.

3. I didn't expect a whole lot of frills but uhhh, a mini fridge would have been nice. Some rooms have them, some don't. I can't for the life of me figure out why any of them wouldn't. I get to sleep in this comfy king sized bed, but I have to sip room temp water?

If I was expecting to spend a lot of time in my room, I don't know if I'd  choose the Crowne. But for easy access to downtown, a place to lay your head at night, and a decent bar area, this place isn't too shabby.

I was here for a few days for a conference. I wasn't expecting much as a college student. And i know there was a lot of us there too. But the customer service was very poor. Whether is was an attitude, or the fact that they took our towels and never replaced them and the AC didn't work in our room and the internet barely worked. And overall the rooms weren't that great.

I wasn't a huge fan of this place. It wasn't the worst hotel I have stayed at. The rooms were clean and the TV was very nice. The balcony was big, but very bare. There wasn't even any places to sit, but the view of the Arch was one of the best I have seen. The pool was about the size of a bath tub, perhaps a little smaller. Even though it was on the roof, which is cool, there was no room to move and only about 3 people could fit in there and forget about having your own space or being comfortable.

The heating is centrally located, it was explained to me that the higher floors are warmer. I was on 25th floor and the room was steaming. Had to be moved down to 8 to be somewhat comfortable. Would not stay here again for this reason, but the view of the Arch was nice and the staff was accommodating.

I have stayed at this location once before and am still kicking myself for making such a bad decision. Waited 30 minutes for someone to valet my car upon check in. There were others waiting as well and it's like the guy just disappears every now and then. Staff didn't even know when I asked the front desk but they really didn't care. Messed up my reservation and tried giving me a crappy room without deducting the extra I paid for a suite.
Tried to find someone again to get my bag that the airline dropped off. Waited almost 1/2 hour for that as the bell mans excuse was he was parking cars.
There was also several rooms with breakfast crap outside of their doors upon going to my room at 6:00pm. Sadly, this crap still existed the next morning (24 hours later).
The room service food was crappy. Suggest going to the Irish pub right down the street (Tigin Irish Pub) only a 5 minute walk or Tony's Italian which is another good place. Liked Tigrin better with the live entertainment and good bar food.
Another thing with the crown, my patio door don't lock no matter how much I try. The bed was cozy but the so called suite was outdated and worn. Careful not to get stuck in the bathroom as it's very, very, very small.
Also had a worker walk right in two hours after I checked in. She never even knocked and just stood their when I said someone is in here and then approached her. Seemed a little fishy to me. Planning on scanning my belongings??
Bottom line, I am convinced the Crown Plaza is a crap hole. Had similar issues with two other Crowns in WI. I am done with Crown Plaza's! They are all crap holes!!

I am not one who likes to throw disrespect to businesses for that is how their employees earn the money. My bothers and I came down to St. Louis for some family business and catch a Sox n Cards game. I being the Red Sox fan was happy but a cloud tried it's best to mess up our 3 day stay @the plaza. After parking the car in a paid lot then checking in went to our room which was clean. We relaxed for a few then went to get a bite to eat came back to the room to relax. Next morning we go to the car only to find we were robbed security came police rode up on a bicycle. The Plaza did little to help they didn't even make the necessary calls nor did they seem to care. I take it they didn't want to alarm their customers that were checking in. This hotel is the worst place an outer towners to stay. Criminals target out of state vehicles and the hotel and parking lot owner must been friends with the thieves. I will not tell not to stay here but I will tell you if you do borrow some Missouri plates so the thieves don't target your car in a paid lot adjoint to the Plaza. The housekeepers never came to make our beds or clean the room. They should rename it Crowne Plaza Motel sorry motels cause this place doesn't deserve to be in business. One and only good thing is it is within walking distance to both stadiums.

When I first checked into this hotel I was already disappointed. I was given a room that wasn't clean, the service and staff there needs more training on how to do there job and be professional. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying more than a 2 days. I was more concerned with the lack of cameras that's in the hotel more than anything. I can name a list of problems until I checked out. Never again. The only thing nice about this hotel is the lobby otherwise than that don't even waste your money.

Wow. I have way higher expectations for a Crowne Plaza. The other reviews really hit the nail on the head. This hotel is in desperate need of an update. The bathroom in our room was awful... granite countertops could not hide the awful black-mildew covered time around the bathtub. Ugh. The room was clean enough (thank heavens) but so outdated. We were definitely disappointed. We did ask for a room with temperature control and got that thanks to the girl at the front desk. Wouldn't stay here again unless the hotel gets a major overhaul.

I don't write a lot of reviews for hotels, but my experience has been so bad that I just have to warn people. I stayed here on a business trip in Jan. 2014. It's an average hotel. Nothing great / nothing horrible (except the heat in the rooms was really loud and either full blast or not working at all, but whatever, right? Not worth complaining about.)... or so I thought.

On Friday March 28, 2014 at 11am my credit card was fraudulently charged for a second visit while I was home in MA. I called the hotel and asked to speak to the manager (who was unavailable), so I left a voicemail. The hotel has not bothered to respond to me. I am working with my bank to dispute the charge. I've had to cancel my debit card, I have to update my payment info in a bunch of places... this is really annoying! I'm just glad I regularly check my bank account and found the bogus charge.

This is almost definitely someone at the hotel stealing credit card info; either to let a friend stay for free or to run some kind of refund scam. The fact that the manager hasn't responded means they aren't taking this seriously or they might even be involved. I wouldn't be surprised to find out I'm not the only one who's been stolen from!

Really cool view of the arch, but room was pretty out dated (not that I really care, but I know some people do).  The staff was so-so, some were really nice (especially the ladies in the restaurant), but for some reason the front desk (not everyone...just the lady who checked me in) didn't seem very nice, maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know.  Also, the parking garage was really bad...really old and dirty, made me a little nervous being there.

I come out to visit the city of St. Louis and I now know to never stay at this hotel again.
Service was very slow. The amenities were very very basic for this being in the down town area. I asked if there was a gift shop and the response was the only one is blocks away.
The only reason i will rate it 2 stars is because if your lucky enough for a balcony. The view of the arch is awesome.

This hotel has the WORST wifi I have ever come across. I travel for work and switch hotels almost every week and this has to be the worst by far for getting any work done. I'm not just talking streaming or Facebook.  Even just loading google takes five minutes. If you're planning on getting some work done here, DON'T.
Horrible option for anyone who runs or operates business from their computer.
Everything else is okay, rooms are huge and the view is wonderful, but I'm so frustrated with how behind I am on work I can't enjoy them.

Friendly staff at check in.  Good location. Our room was huge!!! 1709. Had a nice view of the Arch. No thermostat controls and our room was very hot    Got the room on Priceline for $57 so can't complain much. Would definitely stay here again

I've stayed at many Crowne Plaza Hotels in my line of work. When it came time to plan a weekend get away to St. Louis I decided to book this hotel via Priceline.  

Upon arrival into St Louis we called requesting to be picked up from the Amtrak station and were told that the hotel does not offer any shuttle service (despite having a picture of one on its website). We decide to hop in a cab.

We were given a warm welcome and to our surprise upgraded to a superior room.  The excitement quickly came to an end upon walking off of the elevator on to the 11th floor.  The hallways were dark, dirty and dated. Upon entering our room, the age of the hotel was truly revealed. The suite was in need of serious updating.  From the carpet, painting, furniture and decor. Everything was dated including the forced heating/air conditioning. The closet doors appeared to be the original doors.  

While I did not take photos as many others have, I can attest that my suite resembled those of others.

I did have a great view of The Arc however!

Like many others, I had a sub-optimal experience here for 3 nights. Upon check-in, they confirmed my 3 night stay in a non-smoking room & then proceeded to tell me there were no non-smoking rooms left. Staying in a smoking room is torture for a non-smoker. I kept my clothes in my luggage with the hope they wouldn't all be contaminated (fat chance). You'd think they'd give me a nice room to make up for the inconvenience, right? Well you'd be wrong - I could barely squeeze between the bed and the dresser, and I'm not a large person. I did switch to a non-smoking (larger) room the next day. They weren't apologetic about the hassle.

This place is in serious need of an overhaul. You can't control the temp. in your room - it's controlled centrally for the entire hotel. Too hot? Too bad. Too cold? Put on every piece of clothing you brought with you. And then we have the rest of the "WTF" items: single paned windows mean lots of street noise, water damage on the ceiling where the acoustic material is discolored and falling off, a closet with 2 hangers, a missing hairdryer, a missing iron, a shower that doesn't work. Now those weren't all in my room, but compiled from the comments of others I was with. But it gives you an overall picture of the care & maintenance, or lack thereof, of the place.

I won't even go on to describe the food other than to call it virtually inedible. Don't eat here.

The upside (yes, there are a few): close to the arch, views of the arch from some rooms, convenient to Busch stadium for Cardinals games, and within easy walking distance of lots of restaurant choices.

To sum it all up: stay somewhere else.

I give this hotel three stars...location is fantastic can't beat the views of the arch and the river.  The price is good for a downtown hotel and the rooms are spacious and that's a big plus, considering I'm from Chicago and you spend almost twice as much for a downtown postage stamp size room.  The reason it doesn't get more stars, the hotel is old and need some cosmetic touch ups.  The curtains in our room are ripped...and the toilet needs a new seat....yes a new TOILET SEAT.  For a weekend stay visiting family, or catching a Cardinals game can't beat it..but it needs work.

After reading the reviews for this place i was a little skeptical about our stay, but found myself to be pleasantly surprised.  The view of the Arch and the old courthouse from our window and balcony was amazing.  The location is within walking distance to a bunch to the Arch, even with the construction going on, the Cardinals stadium and many other attractions.  Also not too far from some great food.

The hotel is in need of some updates, I mean the burnt orange carpet is just hideous and the public style toilets was a little wierd, but overall we found the hotel to be clean. One BIG upside was the friendly and accommodating staff. I can't say that we were very needy on this trip, but every interaction in the lobby and even riding the elevators was a pleasant one.

One reason I am giving the hotel 4 stars is because the wifi would not work on my laptop or cell phone, but somehow worked on my tablet? The website never popped up to allow me to sign in. We were here on pleasure, so this did not bother me too much.

Another reason is there was no furniture on the balconies, I mean a couple lawn chairs and an end table would suffice.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay and would stay here again in the future.

I am an IHG expert.  In the last 18 months I have about 170 IHG hotel nights, many of them in Crowne Plazas.  I am a Platinum Priority Club member so I know what I'm talking about.  I usually give Crowne Plazas four stars but I'm sad to say these folks get three from me.

I have many good things to say-

* The location is awesome.  It's easy to walk to dozens of restaurants and bars.

* This property is almost 30 stories tall. Ask for a room with and Arch view.  You will be OMG completely blown away.

* Even better, ask for a room with a balcony.  Can you imagine a balcony view from the 25th floor?  It's incredible!

* The staff is wonderfully trained and friendly and competent.  Kudos to the management for their efforts.

* There is a pool on the roof and as you might expect the Arch view is stunning.  In season, it doesn't get much better than enjoying the pool and the view with a cooler of adult libations.

I know you can hear the "but" coming and here it is-

* This property is tired.  It's old.  It's clear that it  is has had a remodel but it is not up to Crowne Plaza standards.

* The rooms are spotless and huge but were designed decades ago.  That has consequences.  See the next bullet.

* The bathrooms are tiny.  No, that's inaccurate, they're minuscule!  I could stretch my arms out one way and touch both walls.  Stretch the other way and I could touch the wall and the shower.  If you were sharing this room with your significant other it would be almost impossible.

So would I stay here again?  Yes but it's a seasonal recommendation.  In warm weather the balconies and roof top pool are killer.  I'd stay here in a heartbeat.  In the colder months I'd look elsewhere.

The hotel was very clean. The staff is very friendly. I reserved our room on Priceline and was a bit nervous to what I would get. My room was spacious. With 2 queen beds. The bathroom was huge. Didn't hear any traffic noise and other guest noise was barely audible.
There is valet parking for $20 and plenty of self parking for $10. Room service ends at 11pm. The hotel is within walking distance to the Edward Jones Dome.

The bartender Sam was great and chit chatted with all that came to order drinks.

The only con to the room was the shower. It's a walk in shower and had 2 shower heads. But the main one didn't work. The hand held shower head can only be pointed to the wall so water doesn't stream out to the bathroom floor.

The only reason this hotel gets 2 stars and not 1 is because the concierge suite on the top floor has awesome views of the arch, free happy hour, and free breakfast. It made me feel like a luxe business traveller.

Otherwise this place needs some serious help and some serious updating. The rooms are way old, they look like they could belong in the 50s. The AC is seriously old too. The sheets were way too thin and I tended to be too cold at night. They have a smoking floor - what is this Europe? I asked for a wake up call one morning and never got it. And when they gave me my final receipt under my door on my departure day they didn't zero out my balance so I had to go down and get another printed. Seriously, how difficult is this?

The Cards were playing three nights in a row when I was there and everyday at the front desk it was pure chaos without enough staff to help everyone check in.

Go elsewhere.

IHG properties are usually well kept. My room had an amazing view of the arch, but inside the room i was missing my desk chair, had wall paper falling down and paint chips. Definitely time to renovate. (Frequent travel with IHG, 100 nights a year)

Seven stars for an incredible staff. Nice lobby. Reasonable parking for its location ($10).

Minus five for the room.

There's no nice way to say this: the building is a dilapidated relic. The newest thing in the room is the tv, at least it is a flat screen. Fridge and microwave are a nice touch, still old. Room was clean and large, crazy with wasted space, old furniture, crappy old fixtures.

My room was right next to the elevator. You could hear it all night long, like there wasn't even a wall there. Slamming, people whistling, talking loudly, it went on all night. That stunk.

The bathroom. Ugh. Seriously dated, thinking 1970's remodel? The shower had two temperatures: glacier-fed and scalding. I ended up having to devise a kind of sponge bath because I'm just not into torture. The soaps were nice.

The furnace, God bless it, tried. Too bad it isn't adjustable. Brrr.

The view from the balcony is spectacular. There is a lot of potential here. I hope a major overhaul is in the works. Until then, it is way overpriced for a glorified Motel 6.

This was probably the worst hotel stay of my entire life (for some perspective I am a consultant who is traveling about 25% of the time so that's really saying something...) The reason for one star is because some the staff were great in trying to resolve our issues and it had a convenient location with a great view but still it was an overall bad experience. From the moment of check in we regretted our choice of hotel. The lobby was filled with high school age groups and extremely drunk sports fans.

We were in St Louis to celebrate and meet with my future in laws. We arrived Friday and checked in the early afternoon. My in laws room had two other parties attempt to get in because they overbooked the room to two other guests. The first time it happened the people actually went in the room and were able to shower and change clothes before the hotel figured out what was going on. The security guard explained he had to go through their luggage because they didn't know who was in the room. They had to get new room keys 4 times that day. The second time someone tried to get in their room was at midnight. They had a horrible night dealing with security and other guests trying to get in their room. So not once but twice the front desk rented out an already occupied room. I spent the next morning speaking with the manager who moved them to an upgraded suite which was great but the issues didn't stop there. (On a side note the balcony door was broken and they sent someone to replace it quickly.) they did offer us free drink tickets as well but we found out later they were for drinks, just beer.

We witnessed a drinker guest fall on the pavement in front of the hotel that night and break her nose. I ran to the hotel to get some help and it took them over ten minutes to send someone. A medical emergency deserves more than a tired look and complacency from the security staff. That same day we watched an underage drunk kid get arrested in the lobby.

The next day our stay did not improve. Our floor was filled with unsupervised high school age children who found it fun to go between rooms all night. This would not be so bad if the rooms weren't 50 years old and the doors weren't hollow and need to be slammed to close (literally have signs on the doors saying close with force because they do not close on their own). So after asking them to keep it down and after I was done being yelled at by their "supervising" adult (who was staying on a different floor from their three unsupervised teenage rooms) they decided it would be funny to knock on our door every 15-30 minutes. So for the next three hours we kept being woken constantly by knocking at the door. After 1am I finally got security to come up and try and get it to stop (after several calls).

I would not recommend this place to anyone!! Although they have a wonderful view of the arch, the hotel is very old and in extreme disrepair. The elevator system was so whacked that people were waiting upwards of 30 minutes just to get on one to their room. It didn't help that there were unsupervised kids playing games and pressing the buttons to every single floor causing havoc on the elevators. We seriously rode an elevator from floor 15 to the lobby that stopped at EVERY SINGLE floor because someone decided to press every single button.

The location was convenient but that's pretty much where the one star comes into effect. If you like drunk and rowdy people, a broken down transport system and an old decrepit room (stocked with your own pet cockroach) this is your place. We literally had the same room service remnants in the hall of our room the entire stay - that's three days with rotting food sitting right by the elevator with no attention paid by staff at all!!! We had to carry all of bags down 12 flights of stairs to check out after waiting for 20 minute and seeing 8 full elevators pass our floor. We checked out early and got flights home early because it was so terrible we couldn't stand another night. Seriously I never thought I could have such a bad stay somewhere but if you want the stay from hell, the crowne plaza is your ideal destination.

Stay away from this place!

I unfortunately booked this place with too much confidence in the Crown Plaza name. I spent a terrible 3 nights here and found myself toying with the idea of checking in at the Hyatt next door every night as my my window faced their hotel and I could see how much nicer they had it.
I started my tormented stay here by being introduced to the hideously confusing and dangerous establishment they called their parking garage. After figuring out the poorly signed ups and downs of this garage, I parked my car and entered the hotel lobby.
I finally checked into the hotel after my tiring journey and waited 10 minutes to get to my room on the 17th floor. The hallways were filled with trash and room service remains from the morning.  After attempting to open the hotel room door I realized that my room keys weren't activated. I called the lobby and they asked be to come back down for reactivation.  I waited another 7 minutes for the elevator and once I was in the lobby I had to wait on line for 30 minutes until they got to me.  The keys worked on the second round.  At this point I had already been at the hotel for over an hour and had just gotten the chance to enter my room....I was at least expecting a decent room.

Instead my room looked like it had been rotting from the inside.  I was greeted by old, disgusting carpet,  poor thread count bed sheets with stains and holes in them, a dirty grimy tub, a super tiny closet with NO ironing board or suitcase stand, and the most ancient AC system I have ever seen. The only saving grace was my view of the arch.

I took a little nap on the corner of the bed where there was no staining on the sheets.  I woke up freezing several times bc the AC unit would not adjust. I then decided to run an errand and found myself in their maze of a parking garage once more.  Upon trying to exit the garage , the garage teller told me that the front desk has to give me a stamp on my ticket in order for me to be able to exit without having to pay for the garage. I was super annoyed that the front desk didn't tell me this during my one hour check in drama. I distinctly remember mentioning that I parked my car. The teller informed me that this situation happens a lot with the guests of the Crown Plaza.  At this point I didn't care. I payed the extra fee and made sure to get my ticket stamped thereafter.

This hotel was a glorified motel. The halls were always dirty, the carpets old, and the service terrible.  I will never stay at another crown plaza again. It is obvious to me that they do not abide by standards. Even a Holiday Inn is more of a predictable choice.

Couldn't handle it. This place is so bad I had to leave. The first room we went to was huge... On the 4th floor with a watermelon sized stain in the middle of the room. It smelled awful. The light was broken in the bathroom so we asked to switch. Then we went to a room that looked fine but on the sheets there was hair and yellow body fluids. Disgusting.

The elevators felt like they would break, the halls had chipped paint left and right, the doors hard to open. I left this hotel. I've stayed in 3rd world countries with better hotel cleanliness.

Looking at the reviews for Crowne Plaza, I was really expecting the worst. But maybe that's how all good experiences start, by having low expectations. So I was downtown looking for a place to stay, calling around for the best price for the night. (You would think that hotels would lower the price just to sell a room for the night, right??) Well, when we called Crowne Plaza, they were polite and courteous, answering all of the questions.

When we finally got there, Sharhonda is amazing and helped us out. She made the experience easy and fun. We got a room for the night overlooking the arc in all it's glory and beauty. It definitely made my last night in Downtown Saint Louis the best it could have been! The room was large (2 beds) & clean, and although the sheets felt a bit starchy it was comfortable enough.
