Liked this hotel...paid thru Travelocity... Then on the way home checked my account. The took the money out as if room was not paid for!!!  WTF!   Called and talked to manager... Oh yeah we made a mistake.. But still have to WAIT 3 days for money to get back in my account . Never Again. Sloppy, Sloppy , Sloppy. You have lost my business FOREVER!!

Stayed here for a wedding weekend, last weekend in June 2012.

The physical aspect of the hotel are nice. Good location, roomy suites. Most ES hotels have an open-atrium design and that creates a lot of outside noise- this one has hallways instead so it's pretty quiet in the rooms.

My issues, however, were with the staff of the hotel. Before we even stepped into the hotel, I was given a negative vibe. My laundry list:

Pulling up to the hotel, I declined valet. Got a smug, curt answer from the valet staffer about where to find the self-park garage.

Guest check-in asked for identification of not only myself but my guest. I've never experienced that when checking into a hotel.

Entering the suite- room service leftovers were lying outside the hallway door, giving off the impression that previous guests were still occupying the room.

Upon entering the room, lights were still on and the bathroom door was closed, again, making us think that guests were still there. Housekeeping left their chickenscratch-laden list of rooms to clean on the common room table.

My guest encountered URINE on the toilet seat. Yuck. Gross. Vomit.

At 8:45 in the morning on our checkout, housekeeping woke us up, knocking on our door to ask if had already checked out and since we hadn't, when we planned on doing so. We planned on checking out by their posted noon checkout time. We shouldn't have had to accomodate their overbooking.

I like Embassy Suites for the most part. My family usually tries to stay in one whenever we travel (who can turn down omelettes to order at breakfast!?). But this experience will make me think twice when making a reservation in the future.

I think all Embassy Suites are all the same - nice roomy rooms, staff is helpful and courteous, and complementary breakfast.  Definitely a go back and a decent price if you are in downtown St. Louis.
