    So, ok this is not a New York Hotel. If you're a New Yorker traveling to the Chesterfield area lower your expectations stat. The Hilton Frontenac is basically off the highway and across the street from a large strip mall. Not thrilling. The entry way has a big old chandelier hanging in it which only serves to heighten the expectation that you probably shouldn't have had from the beginning. The layout is really odd with certain areas of entrance and egress not really panning out which I learned the hard way, Frontenac style.

    So, the cheery front desk guy gave me my room key card and a map. He did the whole "You Are Here" circle and pen pointed the path to my room. I, being just off of a flight and having only fifteen minutes to freshen up before leaving for my meeting didn't really listen to chatty Cathy. Instead - eyes glazing over perma-grin intact - I quickly traded in what would prove to be valuable nuggets of information for the opportunity to think about how I could simply find it on my own by reading the signs once this dude stopped babbling. I'm on the second floor. That's really all I need to know. So, I thanked my kind clerk and exited stage left for the elevator first briskly passing under not only the Dynasty chandelier (I waved to Blake and Crystal) but also under a South Fork style balcony (I winked at JR and Sue Ellen) with sweeping staircase. I just don't get this place. I dragged ass into the elevator and began my assent to 2. What's this? These room numbers don't make sense? The fake fireplace with fake fire in it was burning oh so bright (not so much crackling) at one in the afternoon but my room was nowhere in sight. What's that? I think I hear someone calling my name. I look down from South Fork to see that same cheery clerk waving me back onto the elevator. I cannot get to my room from this part of the second floor. I had gotten into the wrong elevator. Drat! I was weary and weight with luggage. Geez, this is so stupid! "Sorry Mammmm!" exclaimed front desk guy. No problem, grumble, grumble. Why does it smell like dog? Grumble, grumble.

    I finally make it to my room way-way-way back in the hotel and it's well, ok. Pretty standard room with two beds, television, coffee and tea machine, A/C but NO mini bar. It was clean, didn't smell funny and held the promise of a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. I slept like a baby. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows - not too lofty, not too flat. It was freezing, however, and though the temp could have been a spoiler I just grabbed an extra down comforter off of the spare bed and got to snoozing. Turns out the working temperature gauge for the A/C was on the wall and was not the fracking foogazi on the unit. So even though I turned it down it never changed the temperature in the room. Oh well. Thank goodness for extra bedding. In the AM my bill was under the door. I had an early call so I skipped breakfast, paid my bill quickly and peaced out of the Frontenac. The staff made sure a car services was waiting out front for me to take me to work which was great.

    Overall, I just don't get it. This poor baby just has a severe case of the blahs.

    Really old Hotel and poorly laid out...It's a little confusing to navigate at first with multiple elevators.  The rooms are averagely small, and nothing really worth mentioning.  

    The bar is not too bad and serve a limited menu, but poorly staff.  The restaurant closes up really early and the staff are not friendly about it at all.

    Rooms are clean and food was decent (i ordered the ravioli), they also helped me find a late night spot to order from on one of the nights when the kitchen had closed, which was very nice.  The hotel bartender is sweet and the prices are VERY reasonable. I also ended up having an eye infection and needed a special kind of solution, which they got for me from the gift store. I don't know what the rate normally is at this hotel, so I can't tell if it was reasonable or not--- I was here for a wedding and had a group rate. The only other thing that was a little frustrating was the gentleman at the front desk. He wasn't overtly rude but just not particularly friendly, and a bit standoffish --which is not something an east coast gal would normally complain about when visiting St. Louis. Lastly, and this is not a big deal, but the elevators were gross. Considering there is a nice fountain outside and the inside is well kept the elevators were really out of place. Regardless though, all in all a good stay and they provide a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport every hour!

    I stayed here for a family weekend recently and overall it's a nice hotel. There were some mix-ups with hotel rooms and the suite we were supposed to have (in order to have a private common room for the 8 of us) was given away. Meh. The rooms we did end up getting were spacious with lots of seating area. We were also out on a floor with an "Executive Suite" so basically a decent snack room for the floor.

    We stayed in the main building but there are several surrounding buildings which could make it annoying if you need to leave a building to get to the restaurant for breakfast. The fitness room was in one of the surrounding buildings, but a short walk from the main building.

    Fitness center is pretty small but has all the basics - treadmills, weights, etc. I don't see a lot of people using this though (only 2 people there on a Saturday).

    Parking was free which was nice since we had our own cars. However there were two events happening when we were there, so you are battling for spots with people not actually staying there. There is a grocery store and a high end shopping mall across the street. It is also right off of Interstate 64 which makes it easy to come in and out of the downtown area.

    Overall a decent experience.

    3 1/2 stars is probably a more accurate rating.  

    The hotel itself is nice.  The rooms were well sized and well kept.  The pool was a major plus (two kids).

    Location was so-so, it is about 15 minutes to downtown St. Louis and the hotel is right off Interstate 64.

    However, given the quality of the hotel and the reasonable price, I gave 4 stars.

    If you don't mind a 15-20 minute drive to most major St. Louis attractions and you want a good dollar value I would recommend it.  If you want walkability and price is not a big deal I would recommend downtown hotels.

    I found this to be a great facility.  A little different than most Hilton properties, but I thought it was mostly a good thing!

    It is definitely a 'spread out' property.  My room was in a different building than the front desk, and there were several places to park (including a covered garage).  There is dining on-site, as well as an old-fashioned barbershop (I haven't needed one of these for 20+ years), but if you don't shave your own head, I guess this is pretty cool!

    This would definitely be a great facility for an event - wedding, conference, etc.

    I liked it.  Definitely different, but in a good way.

    Compared to the standard Hilton properties (actual Hiltons, not Doubletrees, Hamptons, etc.) this place is not going to blow anyone's mind.  That being said, its a really nice property with a beautiful entrance and sort of a 'campus' feel with different buildings for ballrooms, the restaurant, etc.  

    The executive lounge is staffed at all times and serves booze along with the usual free drinks, breakfast, apps, and desserts.  The ladies working there were very nice and attentive during my visits.  The coffee in the lounge isn't Starbucks (unless they didn't advertise it), but its still a tasty and relatively strong brew (100x better then the stuff in the rooms).

    The rooms were nice and clean and it was always easy to find a parking spot (free) near the entrance of the building.  My only complaint was that the shower curtains are not waterproof, so if you have the shower head pointed towards them your entire bathroom floor will be covered with water when you get out.

    Otherwise, its a nice Hilton with a bit of flair and solid service.

    I think this place's nadir was in the 80s - things need freshening and updating in the common areas.  I have not stayed here, but I will say that the grill does solid sandwiches, an afterthought at most places like this.  And, it was reasonable, and there are not many of those choices in this neck of the woods.  That bumps it up to 4 stars.

    I flew in for a business meeting and had a pleasant stay. The staff was warm and courteous. The room was clean and well-appointed. The room service breakfast was pretty greasy but that might just be a normal occurrence. (I prefer light healthy fare). Great value. Free WiFi. I would stay here again!

    I just returned from a convention at this lovely hotel.  It's a state convention with nearly 300 people in attendance. We ate in the hotel restaurants and also had food prepared and served at our breakfast, lunch, and dinner meetings.  We have yearly conventions--one in the northern part of Illinois, one central, and one in southern IL or St. Louis area.  This was the best hotel of all!  Food was fabulous! For once we had enough staff to serve us so that one table wasn't eating dessert while the table at the other side of the room was being served a salad.  Hotel rooms were clean and had comfortable beds.  Meeting rooms were set to our specifications--and when we had issues with temperature, all we had to do was mention it to one of the friendly staff readily available in the hall and it was addressed.  Whenever we passed a hotel worker in the hall or on the elevator, we were greeted with a smile and polite, "Is everything okay with your visit?"or something along those lines.  I plan to go back with my husband or friends and stay at this hotel--conveniently located across from an upscale mall.  If we choose to take Amtrak from Northern IL suburbs, we can get off at the Kirkland station and the hotel offers a shuttle to their door. I think the hotel has addressed all of the complaints that were addressed in other comments, because I saw none of them.

    From the moment I checked in the staff was condescending and sobbish.  I was hassled for refusing to give a credit card even though it was on a company paid trip.  I was then told my rewards wouldn't be honored because I didn't give them the CC.  I have never had hilton staff be so rude.  The hotel is very old and dated.  They spray the rooms with fabreeze to cover up the musty odor that is present just about everywhere.  If this hotel wasn't chosen for me for work I would never come back.

    I recently stayed in this hotel. What a complete let down.  Save your money and go to Best Western. You will get better service and more amenities.  This place is a complete joke and the free "executive" breakfast was so very sad.  If you want a nice place to stay near St Louis, go to the Sheratan.

    Not quite a Hilton.  This property is dated and worn.  Staff is nice enough .  First room had blood spatter on back of bathroom door, hair on the shower stall wall and a curly hair on one of the bath towels.  Front desk was kind enough to get me another room.  The rooms were both two room suites, a sitting area and a bedroom.  The sitting room was virtually unusable because the refrigerator was so loud that you couldn't talk or watch tv and the sofa was so worn out that I expected to see it on the curb with a "free sign on it".  Seriously, was unable to sit on it because the cushions and frame were so worn.  There was an upholstered chair in the sitting room, but it was so hard that it was unusable.  The desk chair was nice.  The fitness center was nice but only one of the treadmills was fully operational.  The neighborhood is nice and there is a terrific shopping center next door.

    Most of the  time when I travel for work, I don't really have a choice in my accommodations, but I am always pleasantly surprised with what our travel services department comes up with.  On a recent trip to St. Louis I found myself at the Frontenac Hilton.

    When we pulled up to the entrance, I liked the fact that it didn't look like a conventional hotel.  The entrance had a large foyer which reminded me of an entrance to an old fashioned estate home.  There were many different hallways and rooms around the place.  I didn't find this disturbing, but more of an adventure to locate areas that I needed.  Like the bar.

    My room was just fine with a huge and very comfortable bed.  I sleep on a Tempur-Pedic mattress due to multiple back issues.  I was a little concerned that I would not sleep well and wake up in pain.  However, the bed was just perfect.  There was a little coffee maker in the room which provided me with a nice jolt to start my day.  The room wasn't large, but it really didn't need to be since all I was doing was sleeping, bathing, and heading out to meetings.

    All the folks I interacted with during my stay were polite and helpful.  The only small glitch was the surely bartender.  After checking in, I headed out to the bar area, which is quite large, and parked myself at the bar, next to an associate for a beer before we were to meet others in our group for drinks and dinner.  The bartender made a comment that, you got your name on your lapel... Yes, I was wearing a name tag since my company requested that we do.  For some reason this somewhat bothered him.  He made more than one comment about it.  It was a little awkward.  

    If I find myself in St. Louis again, I would  gladly stay here again.

    The confluence of an evening event and an early morning appointment led to a stay here. The location is central, with bonus stars given for being across the street from Plaza Frontenac, with its bounty of stores and restaurants. I have stayed at a fair number of Hilton's standard properties and this location runs true to form, though it does seem that there are more ballrooms and meeting rooms lining the halls at this particular Hilton. The hotel rooms themselves are serviceable, though the windows could have benefited from some additional insulation as I could feel occasional drafts of cold air seeping through. Check-in/check-out were routine and there were no hiccups on this stay, always a plus in my book.

    We were able to get a room last minute because we were disappointed in the Sheraton across town.  The lobby is beautiful, front desk very friendly and helpful, and the room was nice.  We usually get room upgrades because my husband is a Hilton Honors member, but they apologized that all upgrade rooms were taken (not a problem, considering we had just booked at 9:30 that night!)

    The rooms were clean and very quiet, and the fitness facility was also nice.

    The best thing I can say about this Hilton is LOCATION LOCATION!  Right next to  highway 40 (or is it 64?) It's on Lindbergh so if you chose not to hit the highway you could zip up and down Lindbergh to get to a lot of places. It's across the street from a grocery store and next door to Plaza Frontenac with all of its stores and eateries.

    The staff is very nice, check in was a breeze, the room was a nice size, and a nice pool right in front of the hotel.  That may or may not sit right with some people because anyone from Lindbergh can see you as they drive past.  There is a nice bar inside, a restaurant, and meeting and ballrooms galore if you have an event.  So why just a 3 star?

    It is not a very modern Hilton.  They charge for their WiFi unless you are a club member (no biggie, most hotels do that now).  The beds are nice enough but the room and the decor is so dated and old.  I had to call housekeeping as one of the glasses in our room next to the ice bucket was broken - but still sitting there with it's "protective" cap on it. WTH?

    Parking is a bit weird too as it is pretty much all over the grounds and there is one garage.  We had a server in the restaurant who was not too with it that day as well.  Wiped off the table with whatever was in/on that rag and it left a less than pleasant aroma.  Our breakfast included juice but we had to flag down another server to get it as ours went missing on us.  

    Perhaps it was just our turn to have a hotel with some problems, but it wouldn't stop me from going back and staying.  I'd just eat breakfast someplace else.

    Gorgeous entrance. Nice but not accomodating staff. That's it.

    I called to verify our reservation, it's there. I also ask if there is an airport shuttle. Yes. Our plane lands at 11pm and I call them for pickup. They tell me they stop running the shuttle after 11pm. I go to check in and ask for their airport shuttle to pick me up at 6 am. They tell me can't do that either, shuttle starts at 7 am. You've got to be kidding me Hilton. They tell me they have otherwise an 8 mi radius for the shuttle to take to other places. Have to go somewhere at 2pm 1 mi away, let's hope the shuttle isn't "on break" at yhat time.

    This am I am awoken to some wonderful conversation as the walls are that thin. You can hear every single word.

    Bed is soft, shower is ok, nothing extravagant. I'm not even done w my stay here and am not impressed. They probably put all the money into making that ridiculous entrance and stopped caring after they lured customers in.

    The place might not really deserve one star-- the staff is great and the beds are ok, and the gym is pretty good. But for the price, it is a miserable value. The hotel hasn't really had any updates in the 20 years or so since it became a Hilton.  Much of the furniture and by the looks of it, the carpet dates back to the 80's. The windows are drafty, rooms are dark, and the layout of the hotel is a mess.

    Hilton really needs to invest in this location if they are to get by on anything other than the location.

    I don't live too far from this hotel so because of that reason I have never had an excuse to go in to it until recently for a school function.

    It is a nice hotel, presentation is nice and the staff was very attentive and whatnot to make sure our function ran smoothly.  I do have to say I wasn't too much impressed with the food they served us, esp for the price that our parents paid to have it.  It was pretty simple setting and food service wasn't spectacular.  They weren't clear on when dinner was going to be served and personally if the wait staff is supposed to serve the wine, they should be more attentive and be at the table once someone is looking at the bottle.

    I do have to say that from general looks of the hotel you don't realize just how big it is until you have to drive around to see the ballroom you're supposed to be in.  Then you'll see there's lots of other stuff on the grounds of the hotel as well.

    I would like to see other parts of the hotel...one day.

    Gorgeous hotel.. big rooms... gorgeous bathrooms in the rooms directly across the street from Schnucks: the best grocery store in Missouri..great people inside the hotel.. always packed.. the pool is cold outside.. nice service.. great buffet for breakfast and great lunch and dinner dining.. weddings and all are always here.  in wealthy neighborhood.  gorgeous interior.  great front desk service.  They sell TAMPONS in Vending machines.  Paris Hilton Must have put this one together. lol

    A bit dated, but truly beautiful in it's design.  Great housekeeping, a fully rennovated and excellent 24/7 gym, and conveniently located near major access points, a grocery store, and a swanky mall with movie theater.  Sure it isn't The Four Seasons, but at 1/2 the price I think the bang for the buck is on the side of the Hilton.

    First off, the staff is great, they couldn't be any better.

    The problem, though, is that they are working in a hotel that is straight out of 1973 or so.  The whole place kind of needs a reboot to bring it into the current century.  When you see the Hilton sign, you kind of expect a certain standard, and this place doesn't live up to that (other than the staff as mentioned.  They are first class Hilton all the way).

    In some ways, I kind of feel sorry for the staff because they deserve a nicer place in which to be so friendly!

    Location wise, it isn't really all that great but isn't all that awful.  There are some dining options nearby but if you have business downtown STL, you are probably better off at another hotel closer in.  The area of this hotel is suburban/residential for the most part...so if you are looking for Strip Mall Takeout Chinese, you are in luck.

    It isn't awful, if this place was a Holiday Inn or Red Roof Inn, it would be 5 stars.  But judged through the Hilton lens, it need some work.

    This is my "go to" hotel when I visit my family in St. Louis.  I like it since it has a great location for easy access to everything, has an excellent staff, and is generally a clean, safe hotel.  I also like the beds as they sleep well.  The rooms are generally quiet and restful, the bathrooms exactly what you would expect from a Hilton property.

    The secret to staying here is accessing the hotel on the side where the traffic signal is - it makes for a much easier entrance and exit.  There is a food store across the street and a neat German restaurant across the street, too.

    I noticed that the televisions receive the high definition signals and a vast array of cable channels that will make those staying a while happy.  My Hilton Radio did not work, but I didn't really need it since I used the wireless to access my music services.  All in all, I had a great visit here and would certainly come back again.

    Loved staying here. The location (15 minutes to downtown) was great. It's a beautiful hotel and the staff was very friendly. The workout room was also very spacious with more accessories than your typical Hilton. Highly recommend.

    The hotel is so promising from the outside into the front entry way.  Once you enter this named propoerty you really really feal like you are in for a treat.  Man was I wrong.  I will say the staff was the only redeeming part of the stay.

    As i left the classicly decorated front desk to find my room I encountered some frayed carpet and maitnence opportunities.  This was not of real concern till I enetered my room.  What a disaster.....


    Bed was pretty comfortable


    Hair in the shower - looked like someone shaved a chiapet
    A/C - did not work
    Rips in the rugs
    Bad weight room
    Overall dirty everywhere.

    In my opinion this hotel needs some love and a face lift before I will go back.

    Nice older style hotel in a nice area. Nice restaurants close by, with a supermarket across the street. Friendly and helpful staff. Room service is inexpensive considering it's a nice hotel. I would stay again.

    Gorgeous hotel decor. It seems it was an independent hotel or manor at one point because it has too much character and unique qualities to be a typical Hilton hotel. We had a king junior suite. There was a lot of space but for some reason the bathroom was extremely small compared to the rest of the junior suite. We came here for a dear friend's event. There is a barber there but not sure of hours. The room service closed at 11pm on a Saturday night :(   They provided complimentary toiletries which was great. It had some old, broken down features but not too bad. It has a mall across from it with a Neiman Marcus and other high end shops. There is also a sort of grocery store near there across the road. It has free parking and you will not be guaranteed a room in the main hotel building and they have other buildings with other rooms in it. Free wifi in the room but not outside or in the banquet rooms. It was nice overall.

    Had my first stay here last week for 3 nights while in town for meetings.  A few of my coworkers were grumbling about it, so I had low expectations, but honestly, there was only one hiccup in the whole process for me.  Other than that, the staff is superb, very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good every morning, and the room was big, clean, quiet, and comfortable.  I tend to like older properties.  Yes, they need some TLC, but the rooms tend to be bigger and the building overall is built more solidly and quieter.  

    My only issue was when I checked in, my room was stifling hot and the air conditioner showed absolutely no signs of life.  They made me wait until almost 4 to check in.  Are you telling me the maid cleaned the room when it was this hot?  I'm shocked they didn't have the A/C already on to cool it off.  I had to call the front desk because my unit wouldn't even come on.  

    The maintenance dude arrived about 15 minutes later and had to crawl underneath it to do something to it, and then the thermostat on the wall was working.   Soon the room was the temperature of a meat locker which is the way I like it.

    The A/C units are covered with a wooden cabinet to make them look nicer.  Well, when the handyman was working on mine, he must not have pushed the unit all the way back up or something because it chose about 2:30 a.m. to fall forward, hit the floor, and damn near make me wet the bed.  I'm sure the inhabitant of the room underneath mine was none too happy either.  That was not cool.

    But I'm a self-sufficient gal, so I slowed my heart rate, got out of bed and put the cabinet back over the unit, and shoved a chair up against it so no more of those falling off the wall shenanigans would take place.

    Overall I would definitely go back again.  The location is great as well with several good restaurants within walking distance, a grocery store across the street, and a mall & movie theater across the other street.

    The price seemed right on this hotel during a holiday weekend. Overall decent place to crash after a wedding.

    - Immediately located off the highway so getting to and from the hotel and wedding location was a breeze.
    - Friendly staff and prompt morning room service.
    - Style is a bit outdated, but the room was clean and bed was comfy.

    - If possible, avoid getting the interior rooms with "windows" that looked out into the hallway. This style of room was noisy and you could hear people walking down the hall and talking in normal voice volumes. For a light sleeper, this would make it hard to get rest.
    - They need to replace their shower curtains. The one in my bathroom smelled like mildew. Ick.

    Old hotel that is under renovation.  Rooms are dated, but staff is super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome!   The fitness center is great and reason enough to stay here.  The location is walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping.  The grocery store across the street is great for a snack as well.

    This is an older, more run down property. Usually short-staffed, especially the restaurant. Staff occasionally displays an attitude (the wrong kind). We've stayed here about a half dozen times, but seriously looking for something better in west county. Alas, the choices are slim :(

    I experienced terrible service and waited 3 hours to check into my room even after check in began. Very nice appearance that makes up for the not so charming service.

    Arrived late at night,we think this must be the smallest Hilton hotel in the world?No elevator so the baggage man has to lift the baggages. The front desk man is nice and helpful, but the hotel room is so old,we can't believe this is a "Hilton".

    Very charming older building.  I stayed in the executive floor. Room was nice and bed was comfortable.  Bathroom was in good shape.  Despite some users saying the construction was better and more sound proof, I beg to differ.  I had a con joining rooms in both sides and could here the rude person next door making calls at 11:30 at night.  Also heard the same individual waking up, showering, and clamering around at 4:40 in the morning.

    Hotel staff was very nice.  My only interaction was the check in and check out.

    Gym was superb.  One of the best gyms I have seen while traveling.  Brand new equipment and lots of it.

    Stayed here two nights for a friends wedding. Neat and welcoming hotel. It's one of those hotels that are older in construction but pretty much make up for it by good renovation and modernization.
    Since I opted for the wifi+breakfast package, I was given a room in their 3rd floor, dubbed "executive floor" since it had this amazing place called Executive Lounge. They had light breakfast, cereal, fruits, milk, sodas, coffee, all day snacks and get this, night time desserts....all included in the breakfast package! This truly enhanced the experience.

    Other notable points:
    - the gym was spacious and one of the better equipped ones that I have come across in such hotels.
    - there's a Panera Bread , interestingly marked St. Louis Bread right next door.
    - a grocery store across the road looked convenient although I didn't need anything.
    - free airport shuttle is a good service, but they can take their time to come and pick you.

    The rates were good too so I would happily stay here again or recommend it to friends.
