For a simple no-frills, convenient place to stay, the Pear Tree Inn near Lambert - St. Louis Airport is a surprisingly good choice.  Service at the hotel is nice, with workers being polite friendly.  Rooms are very nice and quite clean, although there is an unfortunate dearth of electrical outlets available in the room.  Nonetheless, for being located adjacent to the airfield, the hotel rooms are very quiet.  Also, we ended up in the room next to the elevator and I feared it would keep me up all night, but surprisingly I had no problems sleeping.  The hotel boasts a full breakfast for free (and the food is decent), a small workout facility (two treadmills and a stationary bike, but don't go looking for weights because there aren't any), and a happy hour (which we didn't attend, but I think you get at least one drink on the house).  The best part however, is that with the airport comes a Metrolink station, which can be easily accessed in a few minutes via the free shuttle from the hotel which runs on demand.  Be aware, though, that from the airport you cannot buy a one-hour pass (one-ride pass, essentially), so don't be surprised at the cost of a trip into the city.  But if you plan to wander a bit, buy a day pass and hop on for a easy and painless ride into the heart of the city.  For a brief stay at the right price, there really isn't too much to complain about at the Pear Tree.

Great place to spend the night before an early morning flight.   The staff was wonderful, room just right.  Gabriel, the shuttle driver from the airport, even dropped me off at a nearby Mexican restaurant for dinner - sparing me the agony of one more night of hotel strip food.   He came back, picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel.

This hotel is the best in the area!  The staff is awesome and always accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and pool always clean. The evening drinks and snacks as well as breakfast included, what a deal. Again, what makes this place so wonderful is the staff.

It's not fancy or anything. The interior is a bit dated but clean and comfortable. It's close to the airport with a shuttle. Complimentary Happy Hour with beer and wine and Complimentary Breakfast in the morning. The staff has always been welcoming and friendly.

The rooms have been getting some updates, but it's still a mediocre room. Free wifi, good breakfast, free popcorn, free beer/wine during happy hour in the afternoon.

The room was clean. The issues were in service. At check in they tried to force me into a smoking room saying it was my fault then it was a system issue after 20 mins I got a non smoking room. This morning no shuttle service

The Pear Tree Inn is in a convenient location and is comfortable, but don't expect a fancy room. Unfortunately, our room was right next to the elevator, which was a bit loud.

The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good. I like the way they gave us each a free drink voucher for during happy hour. They also have a good free breakfast in the morning. It only takes about 20 minutes to get downtown from the Pear Tree Inn.

Terrible hotel: rooms have not been updated since the 90's. Stinky halls, broken elevators, subpar housekeeping. All the free drinks in the world will not make up for fungi growing on your pillows!! Don't stay here.

This Drury-run hotel near the STL airport seems a real bargain compared to its nearby competitors. The free (full) breakfast of sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, yogurt, cereals, breads, jams is plenty to choose from and available for about 3.5 hours each morning.  Staff is friendly and helpful. Shuttle to STL terminal and Metrolink is dependable, 24/7, free. Parking is free and in a secured (gated) lot accessed by room keys only.

Rooms: Quiet. How do they do this? Some of the rooms are huge, some are small, all I've seen come with micros and frig, little coffeemakers. You do not hear planes or the elevator, even when in the room nearest the elevator.  The free Wi-Fi works well in the room and elsewhere on the property.

Why not 5 stars? There are not enough outlets. I had to unplug the clock radio and a lamp to find enough outlets to charge my cell phones, computer, etc. Also, on a recent stay, hotels.com (APPARENTLY) had not sent my pre-paid (by several weeks) reservation along and upon arriving from my flight around 11 p.m.,  on an ordinary weeknight, I was told there was NO room, not at PTI, not at any Drury, not at any Hampton.  While this (APPARENTLY) was not the fault of the hotel staff, and we also checked with the customer service people by phone, it seemed to me they should have found me a room somewhere.

What happened? I got the PTI shuttle to my car rental, was getting my car (so i could drive partway to my destination & find lodging there), when PTI called the car rental agency to tell me "a cancellation has made a room available for you". OK. That was good that they tracked me down. However, somehow I got the feeling this was rather odd (at midnight), so still not sure how to rank the hotel on this.

There is free popcorn in the lobby, free food at happy hour, and lots of other amenities at the PTI. Airline staff stay there, so it must be dependable and clean.
