We stayed at this hotel with a bunch of family members for a wedding.  IT WAS THE WRONG CHOICE!!!  The employees at this hotel were SUPER rude, the non-smoking rooms reeked of cigarette smoke, the bathroom had mold and they ran out of eggs halfway through breakfast and employees would not bring out more.  We were at the pool and one of the employees started grabbing the shower towels.  When we told them that the front desk knew we had them out, they took them anyway and rudely replied that we needed to use the pool towels.  I guess they thought we were going to steal their towels.

I've been staying at this hotel just about every week since December of 2010. I must say the staff is friendly.
Don't get the end rooms near the elevator rooms #224,324,424 unless you want to hear the elevator clunking all night.
Don't leave anything valuable in your car. There is a break in at least twice a month or more.
Rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.

I've spent 3 weeks in this hotel so far over the last several months, going on a fourth next month.  I continue to be extremely impressed with this hotel, when considering the price.  This time the weather was nice enough to use the pool & hot tub.  I don't think this hotel gets too many families, so the pool was actually very quiet.  This past room was also the cleanest one I've gotten...in the past, I've found some light housekeeping problems (nothing I couldn't live with or they weren't willing to resolve).

I'm glad to have a decent place to stay when away from home.  The friendly employees make it a little easier to be away from home for a week at a time.

I've said derogatory things about La Quinta in the past, that LQ translates to "near the Interstate" or "next to the Waffle House" both of which are true about this property. But I was completely wrong about the quality. This is actually a very nice hotel.

Even without status, my room is just as large as any I've had with other mid-tier hotels. A nicely decorated room with a very large LG flat screen TV, mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Very friendly staff and the breakfast spread (free) is more than acceptable. The wireless Internet works well too. Five bars!

I think the only things that I would ding them on (just because) is that the electric outlets on the desk area aren't within easy reach. And there's a slight draft from the window, but with the heater on low, it's no big deal at all. Those are really minor complaints and everything else is ideal.

Would I stay here again? Considering that it's HALF the price of the Marriott across the street where I stayed last week, you betcha!

good location and quiet, even though yes, it is near the train tracks. there isn't much traffic on the tracks so pretty quiet, I never woke up because of a train.
PET FRIENDLY, we were traveling with our cat so it was wonderful and the price was perfect, 85 a night with the AAA discount.

We booked this hotel because we were looking to get west as Hurricane Irene approached and because we were traveling with our beagle.  We didn't have a dog for a long time but just recently got ours.  So, I never quite realized that La Quinta was so dog friendly.  Back in the day, it was joked that La Quinta translated to "next to Denny's" but now it translates to "Doggie Hotel".  There are dogs everywhere, which is a nice little niche for the chain.  But, if you don't like dogs, don't stay at La Quinta.   Lucky for us, we like them.

Don't let the presence of dogs make you worry about the state of this hotel.  It was very well maintained.  From the time we arrived to the time we left, we have been very pleased with this hotel.  Our room was in great shape and had everything you could want.  The morning breakfast was only OK but not any reason to not stay here again.  The staff was very helpful.   It was a pleasant experience.

For the price, I am not sure you can beat this hotel.  As others have said, the quality of the rooms will compare with other more highly priced chains.  Check it out if you need to stay in the Durham area.

Had a single nights stay during Labor Day weekend 2012. Front desk staff was efficient and polite at check in. Was given an "accessible" room so there may have been some larger doors, more floor space and some extra handrails but otherwise a normal looking room. Room & bath appeared clean overall. Bed was comfortable, flat screen tv was nice and climate control was consistent. Breakfast was continental but enough to get you going w/o being on an empty stomach - did have hard boiled eggs and one of those self make waffle irons. Quiet location about a block off of the main road in a wooded area. Convenient to many stores and restaurants near by. Decent value stay - but I didn't get to try the pool ;-(

I had to visit my sister who is currently attending college in that area.  I booked the room directly from the website and from we all know that part is pretty straight forward.

We arrived and upon checking in, everything was prepaid and ready to go.  I found this strange because usually you have to give your card, they make copies/get an imprint, you have to to sign countless papers, etc.  In this situation it was only one signature and I was good to go.  Due to me coming down for one night I cannot comment on daily operations but I can tell you that upon arriving at 10pm that the area was kind of off the road (beyond the train tracks) but for me I still felt safe.  There is also a waffle house next to the location that did get packed and to some small extent out of control around 3am however it did not spill over into the hotel.

The hotel room really impressed me.  A definite bang for your buck.  It was up to date with a flat screen TV, nice bedding, clean floors, and the bathroom was spotless (those of you who know me know that I am a stickler for dirty bathrooms).

Due to the cold weather I did not check out the pool or hot tub but the gym was minimal and clean.

As with all La Quinta it does come with a complimentary Continental Breakfast.  It is not waffle house but it does come with waffles.  The items consist for yogurt, cold cereal, fruit, waffles, juices, and coffee.  Again another bang for you buck and it will tie you over until lunch time.

The only flaws were  the lack of a fridge and the location.  It did kind of sit off the road with at first gave me some fears; however, over all it was a fantastic experience.

Macy the general manager was very welcoming. This is a good value because it's between Durham and Raleigh and not really close to either one but I found to be perfectly convenient. The room was clean. I would have appreciated some newer bedding and pillows.

The room is nice and clean. My only compliant is the thermostat can only be set at 79 degrees Fahrenheit from inside the room. At this temperature cold air blows out of vent. In order to set thermostat above 79 degrees Fahrenheit I had to call the front desk and set the temperature at 85. Well my room became extremely hot, so adjusted the thermostat and from 85 the thermostat went to 79. Cool air started to come out of the vent again.. I called down to the front desk to get the thermostat turned up again. I was told I needed to keep the thermostat set at temperature.. Dial tone! If you book a room here you can not adjust your thermostat. I went downstairs to discuss with the clerk his poor customer service (interrupting his personal telephone call).

This hotel was just gross. I felt dirty just walking on the carpet. Worst of all, the walls are so thin that I heard everything from the room across the hall from mine. The only high point was that the staff were all super friendly.

This place had the highest reviews in the area that fit within the budget I'm given for business travel. Usually Expedia is good to me...not today.

So far I've been greeted by rude staff members, a toilet that won't stop running and crumbling moldy walls and doors in the bathroom. I am absolutely not pleased and will be requesting a room change shortly.  If this is the highest rated hotel in a moderate price range I would really hate to see the other places.

I'm with Candace B., I was totally let down by Hotwire on this one and misled by all the thumbs up this property received. The three star property I selected felt more like a two star motor lodge.

First off, I'm giving the place one star for location and surrounding amenities (e.g., Starbucks).

Moving along, I'm not wasting a lot of time on this review. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll upload some I took in lieu of another complaint to management.

The room seemed clean but wasn't. They have these interesting bedskirts and while looking for a plug for my phone, I found some leftovers from who knows how many guests ago beneath the bedskirts. I mentioned it to the front desk staff and asked them to take care of it. Got back to the room later, it was still there.

We left late each day -- around 3pm. The first day, our room was serviced. The second day, even though I saw a cleaning crew still on the floor, we came back to an uncleaned room and no clean towels. Not only was our room dirty, but the hallways were dirty and the garbage cans were overflowing.

You want to stay here, your choice. Caveat emptor!

I have stayed in several La Quinta Inn's but this one took the prize. I spent 15 years working with the Hospitality Business in Corporate America and have seen all manner of hotels and Inns, but La Quinta is one of the most consistent chains when it comes to guest services, cleanliness and staff professionalism.
Our room was ready by noon, as requested, and our preference for a suite on the first floor, closer to the lobby was no problem.
The entire property was immaculate and the staff extremely attentive to our every request or need.
This location is off the major interstates but as quiet as a country inn and tucked back in a beautiful setting of pine trees.
The King bed was more than comfortable and I love the way they use sheets, blankets, pillows and even a duvet for a added touch of class. We slept like we were home and our three days , a true vacation.
One of the best perks is their incredible coffee and light breakfast, served in the Lobby each morning. The fare is fresh, with juices and fruit, rolls and bagels and even waffles, yogurt and hard cooked eggs. This is a really nice part of La Quinta's offering and is a good reason that they hit high occupancy numbers every night.
I will always look for a La Quinta, first and if none are close, choose any other four star property.
Great for families traveling or business folks looking for a bargain and excellent accommodations.
