First impressions were fine: The lobby is beautiful.  Doors open out, so it's a little odd to have to carry in your luggage and stop to open two doors.  They should be automatic or swing both directions.  This is a 3-story hotel.  The hotel was tucked hidden around the corner, rather than obviously planted in the lobby.  It was also kind of slow.  The room was standard for a hotel.  Nothing special.  Mints left on the nightstand.  Major complaint was noise: Every time the elevator moved, there was a huge THUNK like a body falling dead to the floor in the next room, before the whirring.  I was thankful I had my earplugs, else I'd probably have been awoken many times in the night.  Was only there one night, didn't check out the pool/spa or restaurant.  Good for business perhaps, but not even a continental breakfast that the cheap hotels typically give you.  Not worth the price for vacationers.

Only one lamp worked in my room... talk about living in darkness.  Luckily wi-fi was functional and free.. so my laptop provided a steady soothing glow for the evening.  The towels were absolutely horrible, like sandpaper and the bathtub was actually dirty (dusty and hair).  At $143/night, I wondered why they weren't charging more like $50/night.  Would never stay here again.  Still tramatized.

Decent hotel.  In fact, after our StudioPlus debacle, the bf and I really appreciated the BW in Reno.  We booked this b/c of the proximity to Tahoe.  It is about an hour drive to East Lake Tahoe.  The price was right, the staff was helpful and our rooms were clean and quiet.  We were not disturbed by airport activity, the planes were barely audible.

One thing that really freaked me out was that the bathtub/shower combo was made for short people.  It was great for me, but could be a pain for taller people.

All in all, the quality was alright and I had no complaints.  If you are looking for a place that is close to Tahoe, but CHEAPER, then this may be the place.  Unfortunately, I didn't like Reno as much as Tahoe...

I stay at the Airport Plaza quite often and Saturday, August 8 was no exception; with a twist. I checked in at 3:30pm and come to find out my room was not ready. Daniel, the manager, greeted me at the front desk and, without hesitation, issued me the Presidential Suite. As a steady customer, I tell you I will continue to visit the Best Western Airport Plaza, Reno, Nevada. Peter D.

Stayed here last night because my United flight was canceled so United put me up here.   I liked this place because the staff was so nice.  I didn't have any luggage, so when I asked for a toothbrush, they asked what else I needed.  I ended up with a toothbrush, toothpaste, deordorant, shaving cream and a razor.

I also mentioned to someone on the staff that my phone was dead and I didn't have a charger.  They checked out lost and found and located a charger that I could use.

The rooms are fancy, but they are clean, large enough, and comfortable.  All in all a nice place that goes the extra mile.

At this price range, a very nice hotel.  The front desk staff, restaurant staff and lounge staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive.  The rooms were clean and neat, very standard.  Very conveniently located for both the airport, and easy on/off to hwy 395.

The food at the restaurant was amazingly good.  Very unexpected at this type of hotel/motel.

Dump.

I got the room near the elevator from hell. It literally sounds like the elevator machines are behind your headboard.

I didn't realize it until it was too late so I spent a wakeful night dealing with it. I changed rooms the following AM and that request was met with gnashing of teeth and downright rudeness.

We paid $80 per night during a recent convention.

SKIP IT!

It couldn't get more convenient than this. The hotel is an easy walk across the street from RNO, and they have a complimentary airport shuttle.

After a week vacationing south of Reno, I was able to check into the Best Western on a Friday night, move my suitcases into my room, return my rental car to the airport and walk back across the street. The next morning, the shuttle ferried me to RNO in record time.  On top of that, my room was huge and very affordable (booked on Best Western's site), and the front-desk staff was super-nice.

Highly recommended.

This hotel was clean and what we expected from a best western - nothing fancy, but everything worked, and the bedding was comfortable. We came in very late, and Dave the night audit guy was incredibly nice and helpful.

RUN AWAY!!! We stayed here on a brief sleep-stop when we were passing through Reno. On the way home, I noticed nasty red itchy bumps in little circles all over my skin. BED BUG BITES!!!!! I freaked out. This was a first for me, and utterly disgusting. Don't stay here.

I had gone to 2 wedding fairs and was trying to look for the best place for our wedding and twice I was approached by this place. So I decided to give it a try and meet with the coordinator. It was very simple, I checked out the grounds and conference room where the reception would be held. We decided to go with it because of the price and the ground were very nice.

I did want to get rooms at the hotel, but seen some of the suites and was not impressed. They were old and musty. It was too late for for some family members who already booked there.

The wedding day came and it was great. In our package we got a room for the girls to get ready in, the hotel set up the ceremony site as well as ballroom. All we had to do was decorate if we wanted to. Everything turned out beautiful. The people are still talking about how great the food was.

I would recommend this place for a wedding to anyone. Staff was great, food was great. If you do not want to worry about your wedding day go here and let them do all of the hard stuff for you.

The rooms were okay as reported by the quests that did say there.

I'm not a fan of airport hotels as they rely on one-time customers who they may never see again.  This Best Western exceeded my expectations, was clean and convenient.   I ate dinner in the bar and breakfast in the restaurant and found both quite good -I'd say better than the average airport hotel.  Staff were friendly and shuttle happily dropped me off at the Convention Center.

Good overall experience.

If you're a business traveler on a budget and looking for something that is a little quieter than the casinos, then this could be your place.  It's located right across from the airport and if you're car-less, traveling light and have a spirit of adventure, you can walk from the terminal to the hotel, but this requires crossing some landscape and roadways.  The hotel is a sprawling three-story complex, with lots of rooms and a rabbit's warren of corridors.  It is classic late 1970s/early 1980s.  They have a bar and a restaurant that are actually not too bad.  The rooms are clean and spacious, with microwave, mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV (no HD here), and wifi.  Minor gripes: HD TV not available, mini-fridge didn't work/wasn't tuned on (I couldn't find the switch but didn't need the fridge anyway), had to call for the wifi code instead of it being provided on check-in, and there was a small dried-on ketchup drip on the doorstep outside my room.  Minor issues considering price and convenience.  I'd stay here again.

I'm up every month on business & really enjoy staying here. The room floorplan is great if one person wants to get up early & get ready. The bathroom area is on the other side of the wall, not directly in front of the beds with glaring lights.
The bar is a lot of fun. The bartender, Laura (Czech), os so nice & a real hoot! The drinks & food are priced reasonably. Nice atmosphere.
The only (slightly) negative comment I would have is that it could use a renovation to update the guest rooms. But, the courtyard area by the pool with all the trees & grass is very relaxing. There's even an outdoor fireplace!
Definitely prefer this hotel over another one near by.

I visited Reno for New Year celebration with my family. I stayed in a king size bedroom with my wife. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Clean bath room with decent water pressure.  What I didn't like  in the hotel room was the room heater. It never made the room warm. They need to fix room heaters i guess. I did not hear any noise from airport. Receptionists were nice but when i asked about some information, they just asked me to google it. Since it is a tourist spot i expected a better response. Over all a nice place to stay and family friendly.

My husband and I were on our way back from Burning man and had booked a room at the hotel and had called them before we left to let them know that we would not be arriving until 9am and just wanted the room for a quick shower before our flight.  When we arrived the receptionist said that they had given up our room.  Her attitude and answers were very curt during our conversation and it felt like she was not listening to what we were trying to explain and seemed to have no interest in rectifying the situation.  On our way to the restaurant, George, the owner, came over to us and told us that he would be happy to let us shower in the spa area and would have a waitress show us where to go after we ate.  He was incredibly helpful and friendly and we felt very well looked after for the rest of our time there; he ensured we had towels and that we were able to relax comfortably before our flight and didn't charge us for any of it.  The waitresses at the restaurant were also very nice and helpful and the food was good!

I stay here occasionally when I need to fly out of Reno early.  Usually it is pretty good.  This last occasion was not.  Front desk staff was unfriendly on both check-in and out.  Also, a luke warm shower at 5am was particularly unpleasant.  I won't stay here again.

Many of the rooms are very smokey. However, they recently renovated a handful of them. GET ONE OF THOSE! ... The night before my flight to Reno, I specifically called to make sure my room was non-smoking. When I got to the hotel, some of the rooms were not labeled, and some were labled "Non-Smoking," which made me think that any rooms without labels were smoking. Well my room wasn't labeled and the smell hit me like a punch in the face when I opened the door. I didn't even walk in the room, immediately went downstairs and told them I wanted it switched. The woman was very nice about it and gave me one of the "newly renovated" rooms. It was a suite with a king bed, couch, TV, fireplace, etc. Very nice room... THEY SHOULD ALL BE LIKE THAT. In the end I was satisfied, but the hotel "as a whole" is a little rough around the edges: a little musty, a little smokey, but fully functional with nicely rennovated room (if you can get one) and a prompt shuttle service that tailors to the guests.

Stayed here over MLK weekend and it was actually nice and comfortable for a least expensive rate of $69 a night (the total came out almost $80 with taxes). Beds were comfy and the water pressure of the shower was perfect, too. Don't expect views though.

Clean and quiet. The rooms were nice enough, and was pretty cheap at under $70 with taxes. There was a security offer that made loops around the parking lot (they also do long-term airport parking) about every 5-10 minutes, and that made me feel more comfortable about the less than exceptional hotel location. There was someone buying some sort of drug in the adjoining parking lot, but that couldn't have really been stopped by the security guy, as the people were smart enough to walk away casually any time someone came by. The lack of complimentary breakfast or coffee sucked a little, and their croissants were less than stellar in the restaurant, but all in all I would stay again.

The free wifi was fantastic. There were four of us staying in this room, and we were all able to log on and use our devices. There were some problems getting us checked in on time, but we just hung out in the lobby until our room was eventually ready.

Very close to the airport, and there was a shuttle bus that took us to our terminal at any time (I think we left at 4 or 5 am).

This hotel is nothing fancy, and there isn't much in the neighbourhood, but it certainly did the job of not having me sleep at the airport hunched over my bags!

This freakishly large Best Western was actually quite nice for the price point.  The room was very large and the bed was comfortable.  The bar in the lobby was actually a lot of fun and the lady behind the bar was fantastic (I believe she was from Prague?).  The food was rather inexpensive and was also quite tasty.  I had a chicken and asparagus dish that was completely satisfying after being on the road all day.

The bad parts?  The endless hallways evoked memories of "The Shining" and there were some bizarre people staying there at the same time.  My favorite was the old crazy lady who kept asking if she could walk our dog while calling me sir.  "Sir... I'd love to walk your dog.  Sir... can I walk your dog?"  It could have been cute, but it was creepy in the "I'm gonna make a stew out of your dog" way.

All in all an A-OK experience!  3.5 stars!

Wow I'm really surprised and impressed with this place! I thought it would be outdated and creepy because it's a little off the map but everything was modern and clean. I actually felt comfortable being there when I usually hate hotels. I came late and left early but I did notice a beautiful outdoors area. Best western also offered a discount for Costco members that I glady took advantage of. All in all it was a great place and when I come back to Reno I will be staying there again.

The place was dirty and just desolate looking. There's no damn way they could even be considered a three-star hotel. The ice machines on the entire first floor didn't work, there was a damp spot on the carpet in front of the mini-fridge, the blinds don't close all the way so there's always light coming from outside, the walls are sheet thin, and I heard the footsteps from upstairs all damn night. I literally said this was the "Worst Western" roach motel I've ever come across. Spend a little more and go to another place.

This hotel is okay. It's right across the street from the airport, but there is also a Hyatt place nearby, so I'm not sure why anyone would stay here. The room rate does not include breakfast, and while their restaurant produces fine standard breakfast fare, at $8-12, it's a tad overpriced for being a restaurant inside a best western. My room was fine. Non-smoking as requested, and clean enough. The furniture was pretty outdated, as were the bedspreads and carpet. The room was pretty dark, but the heating/cooling worked, as did the TV. There were accessible outlets and a powerstrip between the bed and the bedside table so I could plug things in easily.

I haven't stayed at any of the other hotels in the area, but if you just need a clean, airport adjacent room with no breakfast for $90-160, then this place would do. They do have a free shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the airport (call for pickup), and you can also pay $5 to have the shuttle take you to (and pick you up from) a nearby casino if you don't want to drive or don't have a car at the hotel.

Wifi was easy to get on, and the person at check in gave me all the info I needed to get online once in my room.

Five stars because the front desk goes the extra mile. I needed a couple of extras and the people at the desk bend over backwards to accommodate. I have stayed at this hotel several times and the service is always good, rooms clean and they are pet friendly. They also have a restaurant with better than average food. Highly recommend.

Not quite 3 stars for me.  We booked here because they told us there was a heated spa and a heated pool available. When we checked in, the spa was drained for cleaning and they had disconnected the pool heater.  Other than being conned on the pool/spa, the room was clean and mostly comfortable.  The AC unit was not great and the TV service was terrible.

Decent room, shuttle bus is prompt, nice employees but there is a nasty waitress lurking in the restaurant.  You can catch the shuttle to some local casinos for 5 bucks, and you'll need it because the bar and restaurant in the casino are closed by like 9pm. Water pressure in the shower is weak and the coffee in your room tastes like crud, but it IS a Best Western.  Beds are a little firm - the good kind - but so are the pillows-the bad kind. Good size flat screen but not HD.

Our intent was to not stay in Reno.  However, a family emergency required a last minute and complicated stay.  After having traveled several hours under very stressful conditions and checking on "pet friendly" type hotels/motels and having very poor luck, we found the Best Western Airport Plaza Hotel.  The access was easy, and the lobby inviting. They were very friendly when we arrived (without reservations of any type) and had a friendly greeting.  We explained our situation (we had a dog and our parents also had a dog and that we needed handicap access for a previous injury), they found one pet friendly room and allowed us to keep multiple dogs in one.  By the way, this was all at 11:00 at night with a wedding reception going on.  The next morning we found that we can get a discount breakfasts, coffee, and they even made arrangements to extend our stay due to our emergency without any complications.  Since we had to spend multiple days and different family members would be traveling in and out.  The Best Western had no issues with this arrangement what-so-ever.

The grounds are like a resort.  It is very peaceful with a waterfall fixture, mature trees, and a nice clean swimming pool.  It was very quiet and inviting.  The lounge is full service, the food is of quality, and the service and cleanliness of the rooms is outstanding for the price.  I even met the owner who was very concerned over our impressions of his hotel, the service, and our comfort, but also wanted our opinions on what needs to be improved.

The staff is first rate and it is evident that customer service is at the top of their priority list along with cleanliness and quality.  I had to spend nearly a week in this hotel and I was completely comfortable the entire time.

My only complaint is that they generally only have one person working the lobby check in/check out.  This can cause a delay due to the fact that each employee gives their undivided attention to the current customer.  They do not rush through a customer just to get to the next one.  My recommendation would to have additional staff available during these peak times.

I would stay there again if my travels ever take me to Reno again.

5 stars for price. $50 for 1 night; they honor Costco membership as a discount. Across the street from the airport but didn't have an issue with airplane noise. We were placed in a pet-friendly room which is ground floor with your own patio door to the outside. The patio door was thin though so you did hear noise pollution from the freeways. In the pet-friendly rooms they have a large doggy bed with blanket for your pet, and provide you with a treat bag for your pet filled with 2 large Kirkland dog biscuits and poop bags. Clean bathrooms and linens.

I would have given this location 3.5 stars if my room didn't have bed bugs. Room 284. I didn't discover all the bites until I had left so I called the hotel that morning. The girl who took my call sounded like she didn't care at all and said she'd make a report (something like that) and she wouldn't offer me a discount or money back since I booked through a third party. I wasn't worried about but instead I told her please make sure no else gets that room until the situation has been resolved. Again, she didn't care. There was just silence and then a shallow response that she'd make the report. Not every room will have the bugs, but make sure you check your bed. I should have.

This is one of those hotel that smell. The hallways and rooms smell funny. They smell like cigarette smoke and worse, mold. I am allegeric to both. Got really sick. It would have  been better to spend the night in the rental car than to spemd a night in this dump. It took me a week to get well after spending a horrible night in this "hotel". Also, I did not appreciate the couple next door that was having a dispute. These people were fighting! At one point the loser guy started to throw the girl's stuff out the room. Lowest class hotel ever.

Check in was supposed to be at 2 got there at 145 was told to wait until 2. 2 came asked to wait 15 mins rooms weren't ready.. at this point a lot of people were waiting to check in. Was told a little longer but we ended up not being able to check in until about 310 (which we had to be somewhere at 430.. planned on getting ready there then heading out). One customer had to ask the front desk to even say sorry! The front desk manager then helped me, at first he seemed Ryde but he then gave our family vouchers for free breakfast and 10%  off each room so at least he did try to make it better!

Over all the pool was clean & the rooms where clean! I did end up enjoying my stay!

I called to the hotel, explaining my problem, then my call was forwarded to a manager.
But he wasn't there.  So I left him a message, but he never called me back.
I called to my credit card company to dispute the charge.
