The Siena Hotel Spa Casino was purchased and renovated in 2010, and officially reopened in mid-2011. The Siena is Reno's only riverfront Hotel/Casino, which is located on the outskirts of Downtown Reno and Midtown.

My review is well overdue but wanted to give my opinion. BF and I stayed here in 5\18-5\20 with our living social deal as well. Loved that they allowed us to book on a weekend no questions asked. Fine print did say no holidays though. Wine wasn't anything special, just Barefoot. We didn't get a room upgrade unfortunately but what did surprise us was our great view of the fireworks from one of the other casinos :] Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, and great hotel staff. Da Vinci was ok but the view of the river was the best part. Seems like a lot of recent yelpers are having negative experience with the casino staff though. Unfortunately we didn't spend much time on the casino floor so I don't have a say on that. But every staff member that we walked by or shared an elevator with was very nice and courteous. Gym was clean, pool was nice, wished I had more time because I would loved to try spa and we never did find our way to the sushi bar. I would stay again

WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN!!   I travel to Reno regularly for business and usually stay at GSR or Silver Legacy.  This was my first time at Siena.  My boyfriend and I were both in Reno on business and decided to try Siena.  We were booked for 2 nights.  We had an accident in the room wherein one of the candle votives we lit next to the bedside lit a decorative pillow on fire.  We never thought twice about reporting the incident and paying for the pillow.  We filed a report and headed off to work that day.  I returned to the hotel at around 3 and headed up to our room.  My key no longer worked.  I walked down to the front desk to request a new key.  When I did, I was met by security and management to inform me that due to the damages to the room, we were to leave the hotel immediately.  They claimed we had not only burned the pillow by the nightstand and table lamp.  I was escorted (not only was I a rooming burning pyro, but apparently a flight risk as well!) to my room by two men in black to collect my things.  They stood there with the door open and staring at me, as I packed my underwear and everything else and other hotel guests peered to see the criminal packing her things.  Unbelievable!  I checked the bedside table and lamp for the damages.  There was some black "soot" on the table and lamp base which I wiped off with a towel from the bathroom.  I asked that management come up to inspect these items since they were kicking us out for them and they refused, stating that they would not be up to look and I was to get out of the hotel immediately. I took photos of the pristine items as I feel I will need to defend myself against these complete idiots. I finished packing our  things, loaded my luggage on the cart and pushed it down to the lobby.  All the while closely trailed by the men in black in case I decided to loiter I guess.  (As if I would even dream of doing anything but getting the heck out of this hotel asap!)  I was escorted to my vehicle and watched until my vehicle left the premises.  This was the most humiliating experience of my life!  We had an accident, reported it and then were treated as if we were a couple of rock stars that purposely trashed the place!  I guess at we should have smuggled the burned pillow out of the hotel, but would have never thought that telling the truth and paying for our mistake would have ended in eviction and humiliation.  We will be disputing all charges from the Siena and filing a formal complaint for defamation of character.

Rude staff.. Room smelled like cat piss... And "resort fee" of $11 for water and Internet?  I'd likely buy these anyway - but only if they worked (Internet did not.). When I called to have this taken care of - I was hung up on!  I will say the room was very nice , just smelled horrible.

Wow..such a bizarre stay!  We stayed here years ago and had a great stay but this past weekend was horrible.  First, we were given keys to a room already occupied.  Second, we were given a smoking room even though we requested a non-smoking.  They couldn't change rooms because they were booked (it was Rib Fest weekend).  Third, a security guard knocked on our door at 7:00 a.m. to "see if someone was in the room already."  Fourth, the pool sign says "open 8:00am - 9:00pm Daily" but when I went to the pool at 8:10 am for a morning swim it was closed.  I called the front desk and she informed me it opens at 9:00 am.  When I told her about the sign that was right next to the pool said 8:00 Daily, she said she hasn't been up to the pool lately but the pool opens at 9:00 am.  I asked to speak with the manager.  Apparently, the manager wouldn't be in until 9:00 am.  Lastly, the safe would not open even though I inputted the correct code.  It took two security officers and 20 minutes to get it open.  Too bad because the property is nice (lobby, rooms, pool, spa).

Let me begin with the fact that we had stayed here once before, years earlier, and just found out about a year ago, that it had gone bankrupt.  Thought the place was very nice and very different from most Casino Hotels in Reno, IN  A GOOD WAY.  Fast forward to present time.  Received a deal in the mail - the first time we had heard from the Siena ever (maybe marketing was their problem)  Turns out, it's their one yr anniversary of "new ownership"...so we went - $39 dollar room rate was hard to pass up.  Arrived early and was delighted to find that David, who took our reservation, did a great job.  Amanda checked us in and confirmed everything David said - room with view of river, non-smoking, and king bed.  Up to the room - beautiful!  Down to play games, and although they didn't have my "Wizard of Oz" penny machine, they did have several others that were entertaining in a surround sound way.  Then off to the tables....we played Pai Gow for about 4hrs...all the dealers were pleasent, and had a good sense of humor....best yet was it was a Friday night (Good Friday) and the table stayed at $5.00 minimum bet.  Loved it!  Again, the place is empty and I don't know why, but I'll be more then happy to either help them get guests, or just keep it my secret.  Upon checking out, I mentioned to the front desk girl that they should market to the bowlers, as we have many tournaments, and I was informed they have a rate for the women - $69/night....well, I have to admit, if I'm going to Reno, I'm not paying for a room over $45/night and never have.....if I have to, I use Priceline....but IF they could do $50/night, I might considerate it with a group, because it would be great fun to have a casino to ourselves and have everyone within ear shot when gambling!

All in all - Very Chic Hotel!

This review is for the casino. This is one of my favorite places to play craps in Reno. The place is bright, doesn't smell like smoke and they have 10x odds on craps. The casino is small and not on the "strip" downtown which makes it not nearly as crowded which is also a plus. If you're playing craps in Reno this is the place to go.

We took advantage of a LivingSocial special for this hotel since we were headed to Reno for a concert anyway. I had never been into this hotel before so I was a little unsure going into it. We were very pleasantly surprised! The rooms were fantastic! Quite roomy, beds and pillows were very comfortable and clean, LCD TV was a great plus in addition to the mini fridge, just wish there was a microwave for things like leftovers. The only restaurant we ate at was the River View Cafe, which was quite impressive. The staff was great, food was yummy, and prices affordable (especially the daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials). The casino area was nice and NOT CROWDED which is more than I can say about a lot of the other casinos in the area. The only downside is that it seems that there are just not enough cocktail waitresses on the floor, just about every time we wanted a drink while playing, we had to leave our machines to head to the bar. All in all, this is a fantastic place to stay with great staff and restaurants, and a beautiful view of the Truckee River. We will definitely be staying here again!

watch your credit card charges at the Siena. they charged me mulitple room charges and when i called to inquire, they couldn't "find" these other charges. I left multiple messages for the supervisor Trish to call back and she never does. i will be contacting my credit card company.

I really want the Siena to succeed, it's starting to look like an epic fail.  We stopped by to get a Peet's coffee but there was no one available to serve us. We found a guy in a suit and told him that no one was working in the Peet's coffee bar, he gave us a comment form to fill out and walked away. We had a coupon for a 2/1 breakfast but waited a full hour for our food, which was very mediocre. We recommended the Siena to some relatives who were in town (we were in the middle of the remodel and couldn't accommodate guests)  They made reservations and upon check-in were given a key card to an occupied room. They went back to the front desk who by that time had realized they had "somehow" rented that room to someone else, and all they had left was smoking rooms...blech...they left and drove back to the bay area. We had similarly strange experiences eating at DaVinci's I will describe that under the Da Vinci's review.

We had a little "stay-cation" here in Reno this weekend and had a Living Social deal for the Siena, two nights for $100, not too shabby. We had a nice room on the 8th floor (only 9 floors in this place) with a great view of the river. Customer service throughout was amazing with friendly check in, maids, bartenders, etc. When I originally called the lady who answered was such a bitch I thought about not calling back. Next person was a doll and so went the rest of the service throughout. I don't gamble so I liked that you can basically stay in one side of the property and never deal with gaming. The king sized bed was very comfy, lots of pillows. Bathrooms need some upgrading I think, the water doesn't drain fast enough in the shower. Also, why does the city of Reno hate the Siena? Really? Low income housing right next to it that they built? Lines for soup kitchens at the motel behind it? Crazy. Go to the Rotunda bar and see Karl, he makes a great martini and you have a nice view of the river. The clams are good too!

This is for the casino only. We (unfortunately) stayed at Circus Circus, so I can't speak for the hotel aspect yet.

I can't say enough good things about this place. It was relaxed and laid back -- a wonderful change from the casinos a few blocks away. The air was clean rather than smoky. Not a huge casino floor, but a great variety of fun slot machines.

The dealers were awesome! My boyfriend and I had been wanting to learn Craps ever since we got to Reno and the online guides I found were very confusing. At the other casinos, the tables were so crowded that we were too intimidated to ask for a basic lesson. When we got here, there were no other customers at the Craps table.

The dealers took it upon themselves to teach us the game, complete with helpful tips and advice. By the second evening we went, they knew us by name. We went back for at least a couple hours every night we were in town, and always had a blast regardless of whether we won, lost, or broke even. A million thanks to Charlie, Jeff, Jim, Joanne, Michelle, Paul, Sarah, and Tressa, as well as Mike and Bob, for being so friendly, helpful, and patient!

We're hoping to stay here on our next trip to Reno. If the hotel itself is anywhere near as great as the casino, I'll be thrilled.

Love the casino, da Vinci had a 2 for 1 prime rib dinner on Fri through Dec. Went once and food was great, included soup. Went again and soup was $3 food was still good, went a third time and soup was now $6. No longer a bargain!  They have Peets coffee bar, which is great. It would be even better if there was someone there to serve the coffee. Out of 3 trips I was only able to get one coffee. Cheers.

Just spent my weekend with my wife and had a blast. Room was over looking the river and was a very pleasurable sight to look out too. Casino is a bit small , but won plenty of time to stayed and hung out there. The rest of Reno is a short 1-2 block walk to main drag. Hotel staff was very helpful and respectful .  Free wi if , and other amenities were very nice. We are defiantly staying at The Siena again.

Stayed in deluxe room on 8th floor overlooking Truckee River and downtown Reno. room was well appointed, very clean and comfortable.  bed very comfortable. room rate very good.  especially like the ease of access.  Very friendly, courteous and professional staff.  nice place in town for a weekend to unwind after being away for nearly 3 weeks. Da Vinci's restaurant was only dining facility visited and I've written separate review of that delightful experience. can't say anything about casino itself as I didn't get to it. all in all a good experience.  I'm happy to recommend.  I'll be back.  jt

We went to Reno for a wedding.  Arrived at the Siena at noon on a Friday, and asked if there was any chance for early check-in, since we had very little sleep the night before and the flight was early morning.  They said sure, and would call us when the room was ready.  We went and ate lunch in their restaurant-horrible food, over-salted and really greasy (made us all slightly nauseous) and then hung out at another casino.  They never called.  Check in was supposed to be at 3:00.  We went back at 3:00 and they said our room was still not ready, but any minute.  We sat in the lobby waiting for 1 and 1/2 hours!!!  Finally, at 4:30 they let us check in.  The room was just okay.  Three of us staying in a suite, but they only gave us 2 towels with no extras in the room.  No place to hang up towels in the bathrooms (really weird).  We had to hang our hand towels on the door handles of the bathrooms.  50's music piped through out the entire hotel and parking lot, on a loop.  I heard the same song over and over.  The lobby smelled like cigarettes and decorated in a Euro-trash style.  We went to the rehearsal dinner for the wedding and the bride asked us if we had received our gift basket, that she had personally dropped by the hotel.  This was the first we had heard of it.  We went to the L2 lounge for a drink after the rehearsal dinner.  10:30 on a Friday night and they place was empty.  Unbelievably tacky.  Lots of video screens running silhouettes of nude women gyrating.  Looked like something that should be in a strip club.  A huge dance floor with no one there and a DJ playing rap music (didn't quite go with the naked, writhing women).  I order a Stoli martini.  They waitress came back after 10 minutes and said they were out of Stoli (heaven knows who they served it all to).  I then asked for Sky Vodka.  They were out of that too.  My son had a white Russian that they neglected to put Kahlua in.  We watched several people come up the escalator from the first floor, take one look at the place, turn around and go right back down again!!  We checked out on Monday and I told the person at the front desk that we were unhappy with our stay and that we never got our gift basket.  She told me that she could give me the manager's phone number.  REALLY?!!  She should have called the manager right then and there and done something for us!!!  I told her that I was going to go online and give the place a bad review, and she had nothing to say.  I will not recommend the Siena to anyone and will never stay there again.

Went to the spa, had an okay massage (say hot stone is included but they only put hot stones on you and don't massage with them) and pedicure from a lady who ignored all of my attempts at conversation and made it a very dull and lackluster experience.  When I exited, the hotel director was in spa talking to staff about cheap guests and asking how many appointments were on the books for the day. That exuded class.    
Paint fumes were high even in the elevator.  In the elevator I ran into a woman who claimed to be the designer and said everything here was still under construction. Haven't they been open for a year? She was not the nicest person, spoke down to me like I should be grateful to her for something.
I ate at the sushi bar. Food was ok but it took a long time for portions, chef was hispanic and told me he was new to sushi and it was time consuming.

Overall, no matter how hard I tried to find a bright spot, everywhere I went it seemed that I was detained to have a less than exemplary stay. Very sad for a newly opened property in downtown Reno when they have such amazing competition!

The hotel is in a good downtown location and the rooms overlooking the river are very nice.   Staff was friendly, and the rooms were updated and newer looking.  One BIG complaint - my husband left his medicine (expensive cancer treatment meds with syringes) in one of the drawers of the bureau.  We realized it that evening after we checked out, and called immediately.  The night security said nothing was turned in and to call back the next day.  I called the next day, and still nothing turned in.  We actually drove back to the hotel the 3rd day on the way back the airport, and stopped in to ask.  We were told nothing was turned in.  I explained that this was very expensive meds and could someone please take the effort to look in the bureau to make sure?  They called security, and he said "well, someone is in the room right now...we can't do anything"   I asked...can you just call the guest and explain the situation, I'm sure for cancer meds, they would be willing to look or have you go up and look int he drawers.  The answer was no, we can't do anything about it.   So $500 worth of cancer drugs down the drain....we know that it's our fault for leaving it behind, but security and the lost n found policies did not even make an effort.  According to the guard, if they find medicine, it is just thrown away....without contacting the guest, or even making the cleaning staff report that it was found.    I would have left 4-5 stars, but how a company handles a problem, is often a measure of their customer service...they really failed us...will not recommend or visit them again.

Very nice time, they did a good job at this place, although it's an old building that's been remodeled and still smells like a smoky old casino.  The food was excellent!  And the staff was over the top as nice and welcoming as they could be.  A little off the main drag, but on the river and a great view.  The business center is excellent.  Nice TV in the rooms and a good job on the remodel though i might have done something different with the bathroom, like get rid of the tub in favor of a large shower.  Who takes hotel baths?  Food everywhere was a really great surprise and the make a mean Bloody Mary in the restaurant.  Sushi place was only O.K., but the rest of the place made up for it.  I'd like to see them a little busier.  They're trying really hard to please and earn your business - and are doing a great job of it.  We met up with locals that frequent the place for food.  That says something.
And they're dog friendly!
You need to put this one on your list, but you're gonna have to get past the smoke.

I was passing through Reno with family staying the night. We stayed in room 409. Place looks very nice and clean. Front desk made us wait because they were too busy talking to each other to acknowledge us standing there.
Room was very clean. But shower head did not work right and bathroom door would not lock. Room was cool but as the nigh progressed we got hot. The air conditioner fan was not blowing. And because it was late at night by then we did not call front desk because family was asleep. We had to open the hallway door just to get fresh air. I told the front desk at check out what had happened and I was told: there was nothing they could do for me at this point because I did not give them a chance to fix the problem. I told them they could give me a discount since I paid for a room with a working air conditioner. Again I was told there was nothing he could do and offered to give the front desk manager my phone number.
Well she did not call me that day. I called the next day and asked to speak to Gretchen ( the manager). And was was told again that she would call me that day. And this happened every day four four days. A week later I called and spoke with David the hotel manager and he offered to buy me lunch next time I go to Reno. Wow! Really? Big deal. Next time I go to Reno I will NOT stay there again.

I guess getting a $49 a night deal got me excited after setting my expectations based on the prices listed on their website, but unfortunately this hotel didn't really deliver. Nobody at the front desk upon arrival, noisy room right by the rooftop HVAC machines of some adjacent building, old spring mattress, clogged toilet, ventilation broken in bathroom... You can't ask for too much at this price, but the level of service really didn't match the image this hotel's marketing is trying to project.

Came here to check out a show at the Knitting Factory which was surprisingly within walking distance so I loved that. This hotel had some good deals, so the price was also really affordable. It was a pretty nice hotel. Fun decorations. I have few complaints except that it took an exceptionally long time to get the towels we called up for and when we ordered drinks at the pool, the employee wasn't sure where we were calling from which I thought was strange. It also took near an hour to get them and it was 11am and we were the only people there. Everything here takes a long time to have happen with the exception of checking out and checking in. When we went to the little cafe, the hostess was very nice and sat us quickly, then we must have waited for 5 minutes before she realized no one had even come by. She had to go get the waitress, again hardly anyone was there. When we checked out I misplaced my valet ticket (valet is free so that's pretty awesome) and I asked what they would need. The woman at the front desk just casually told me I should just go ask them since they deal with that sort of thing all the time probably. Other than that, it was a nice stay. The room was an OK size but the beds are EXTREMELY hard. For some of you that might be a plus, it was as comfortable as the floor. The room itself was very clean and it was very close to everything.

We enjoyed our stay. Clean, quiet, comfy rooms and very nice staff. Felt a little spoiled having people bring our luggage up to our room. Room was up to date and well decorated. It was a bargain too. The casino itself was pretty small but the onsite restaurant was pretty good. I would stay here again.

Unfortunately, while my experience at the Siena was satisfactory at the time, they have charged my credit card on 4 separate occasions - all for amounts that do NOT equal the amount on my receipt. A $100 day has turned into over $450 and a lot of hassle for me to deal with my credit card company. I will not be staying at the Siena again.

Update: I was so upset with my service at the Siena I decided to contact their customer service. I left an email explaining my experience and the next day I received a quick and concerned response from David (the director of operations).  He expressed his apologies towards my bad experience at the Siena, and extended a solution. My best friend Court and I will be giving the Siena another try hopefully this upcoming November. I am looking forward to a great experience and definitely will keep my review updated. As it stands I have brought the  rating  up a star, because I was surprised and impressed by the speedy response and understanding.

My wife, Daughter, and I stayed 2 nights May -18-20 2012 We had a great time. The pool is clean and really a nice set up on the fourth floor. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Large 40 inch flat screen, refrigerator, Comfy bed. Nice equipt bathroom. Quiet sleep. Front desk was there to help on anything. The casino floor is small but has everything even a sports-book. Will we come back? Sure will!

This is the first time since the remodel I've visited the property. I had lunch in the sushi restaurant and it was as good as any I've had, anywhere! The decor is modern yet very warm and comfortable and although I didn't spend any time there, the wine bar downstairs will be on my next visit.

The only complaint would be the young lady at the front desk, Jessica, extremely rude and cold. Other staff were veer pleasant and helpful.

I haven't stayed here yet but I called to make my reservation for the living social I bought for the two nights for $99, and then woman who I was connected with, Tina, was extremely rude and cold. And no personality whatsoever. If I hadn't already paid for this deal, I definitely would have taken my business elsewhere. So if you want people to actually look forward to staying at your hotel, I suggest you hire someone else to make the reservations, because I'm far from excitement now.

Love love love the hotel and staff! Wilmer the valet/bell guy was so helpful and informative. Front desk staff was great and the hotel room was very comfortable and clean!

Only down fall was the riverside cafe. Staff was slow and unattentive. Pizza was made wrong and raw! Discusting the second try was better but not amazing.

Otherwise great experience I'll be back for sure!!

I can't say anything bad about my recent stay at Siena. First day my bf and friends hit big on the craps table. We were given 3 comp rooms for two additional days (one of which was a suite).

The rooms that were given to us were pretty decent in size. The suite's living room was about the size of a standard room...it was crazy big.

The workers were always friendly and by the next day knew us all by name. Servers were fast serving our drinks while we played and were just as friendly.

The food in the cafe was very good. I went to the cafe for a quick bite to eat and just wanted a simple sandwich. The sandwiches exceeded my expectations coming from a little hotel cafe. I went back for another for dinner.

I stayed here once before the bankruptcy and reorganization.  I stayed here again last weekend, and they have upgraded the rooms nicely.  The one thing that I am glad stayed the same is the very friendly staff.  From the hotel to the casino, everyone that works here are very nice and appear to be happy to be there.  They have a great selection of newer slots for what is a smaller casino compared to all of the others in Reno.  I also have enjoyed meals in both the coffee shop and once at Sushi Saga.  I was not able to try the happy hour menu at the Rotunda Bar, but I hope to return and do so on a future visit.

I wanted to book a nice room for a special occasion, so after much online deliberating I went with the Sienna.  I booked a deluxe King room online.  When we arrived I was unimpressed with the room.  It was your very basic hotel room with really nothing special.  We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the river.  Although it didn't really feel as though we were overlooking anything.  It was more like we were staying next to the river, or better yet under the bridge.  The next day I went to the front desk to tell them I really didn't like the room and it wasn't what I had expected after viewing pics online.  They gave me a key to a room on the 8th floor to look at.  This room was exactly the same just higher up, still didn't work for me.  I ended up paying an upgrade fee so we could get a suite.  The suite was really nice with a jacuzzi tub and a living room.  As far as the staff goes, the lady who helped me upgrade as well as the manager were very nice.  The girl working at night when we checked in was less than pleasant, she barely spoke two words to us.  The casino is small, when we gambled at night we were a little uneasy about some of the people wandering around the casino.  They did have a complimentary sedan to take you out to the clubs or wherever you wanted to go at night which was pretty cool.  If I ever stay at the Sienna again I will make sure I get a suite.

REVIEW OF THE NEW L2 LOUNGE : Went to the 4th of July opening of Siena's L2 lounge. Arrived around 11:00 p.m.. The Siena promotes that there is music, dance, and drink at the new L2 Lounge. Me and my wife decided to go there after the 4th of July fireworks and check the place out and maybe dance a bit. There were a few people there when we arrived. The L2 Lounge was maybe half full of people. No one was dancing though, which was sad since the lounge actually has a small but nice dance floor. The reason no one was dancing was because the duet that was playing Karaoke type canned music "that they sang and played an instrument to " was not playing anything anyone would dance to. They actually were the duet entertainment from down on the Casino floor that they brought up to trade of with the DJ. It was straight up lounge lizard stuff. Kinda tacky. We decided to stay and try the drinks because the Lounge had a comfortable atmosphere (so we thought). We sat down at this table with a little love seat type couch that was very comfortable. We then ordered a couple of drinks and they were very good and the waitresses seemed nice and helpful. After about an hour of listening to the lounge lizard duet the DJ finally took the duets place. I ordered another drink for my wife from our waitress and while it was being made we decided to get up to dance on the DJ's first song. We were the only ones in the bar on the dance floor. In the middle of the dance music as we were dancing the DJ starts doing a sound check and the music is turned down to the point were you could hardly hear it, then back up again repeatedly so we decide to stop dancing and go back to our table until the DJ gets his act together. That's when things started to get really weird. We are not fully off the dance floor when our waitress walks up to my wife and hands her the new drink we ordered at our table. Then as we arrive at our table we find that a Siena employee is moving our table and putting her hands all over our drinks that we had not finished yet. Our comfortable couch seat that we had been seated at all night had been moved and given to another couple. Now this place is maybe half full with plenty of seating left. Me and my wife stood there dumbfounded as this lady who I am guessing might have been the manager proceeds to cater to the new couple. Our waitress is no where to be found. I asked the lady what she was doing with our drinks and table. With a surprised look on her face she began to put the table and the couch back in order. I looked down at our fingered drinks and said "This is screwed up" The manager or employee told me to calm down and then she turned and called over security which was standing near by. The lady who might have been the manager told me that she thought we left. Even though we were just hardly a stones throw away dancing on their dance floor in a half full small lounge. She never checked with the waitress that was serving us to see if we left. We figured later that is why the waitress served my wife her drink on the dance floor instead of at our table. Remember now we were the only ones dancing and you can clearly see the dance floor from our table. So back to the table scene. Here we are (me and my wife) trying to have a fun relaxing night at what seemed to be a nice little dance club. Instead I am now looking down at our wreaked drinks and moved table with a manager who called security and told me to "Calm down" because I told her that what she did was screwed up. I never heard this lady apologize, or admit that she did anything wrong and she never even offered to replace the fingered drinks she was moving around. Instead I am looking at her, our newly arranged table and a few security guards standing near me and my wife. I decided it was time to get the hell out of this place. So we left. Never getting to finish our drinks or to dance. The lack of professionalism by Siena's staff has caused me and my wife to consider not returning to such a screwed up place. Funny thing is I am a Two Diamond Card holder there. Again the drinks were very good. The music was OK but obviously not dance music. The service was really weird and un-professional to say the least. My advice enter this place at your own risk.

We stayed here this past weekend and I am a fan of this hotel. I will stay here again without hesitation. With the weekend being sold out, we luckily got a room off of Expedia for $99. This hotel is centrally located within downtown Reno. Iis situated off of the Truckee river, which is nice to watch and relax. All the casinos are easily accessible via walking, no cabs needed. I wanted to play at Cal Neva because of the cheap gambling and drinks, which I love, but didn't want to stay there. Both Cal Neva and Harrah's is about a block or so away. El Dorado, Silver Legacy are both maybe 3 blocks away, but an easy walk, got to them pretty quickly.

Siena Casino - Is small but not crowded, on the weekends seems like they were at $5.00 for blackjack. I actually liked the casino and plenty of bars and was able to get a seat at a table with ease.

Rooms: Were clean, beds were comfy, flat screen tv, fridge but no microwave, so I don't know how I was going to eat my leftovers, but maybe the fridge is for drinks..lol I have to give a special shout out to the housekeeper on the 2nd floor. As we were walking out to go walk around, she offered us extra towels,asked if we needed anything and gave us extra shampoo because I use too much and it was an unexpected but welcome surprised. I have NEVER had a housekeeper go out of their way to make sure we had everything needed and that's I have stayed in 5 star hotels with a butler! This is what sold me, the service of the hotel!

Food - Okay this is where they got docked a star. I ate at all their restuarants over the weekend and I will start with the positive:

Sushi Saga - Good sushi, good beer, great lo main - fresh and hot, lots of meat and yum..Great service will eat here again.

Cafe - Great service - good food - pricing was good...I will eat here again.

Davinci's - Our bill was over $100 and the food was not good! For a $100 I expected way better. First, I ordered the prime rib special and got a blackend mess. It was so spicy I couldn't even eat it. The prime rib was dried out and tough, it was the last piece. Before my server took it away, i tasted the mash potatoes, it was GROSS. It was salmon mash potatoes. It was just salmon pieces in whipped potatoes, but had no flavor but fish.  The best thing about my meal was the little lobster tail. My partner had the lamb, she was less than pleased as they were tough not juicy, just okay. They did bring me a filet mignon piece out because I had the last piece of prime rib, and it was ok but scary on how fast she brought it out. The service started out good, but then went downhill. After the appetizer, we never saw our server again, to report as to why it was taking so long for the main course. We were just sitting there. I will not eat here again. Should have just went to the Cafe for dinner.

Beware of Posted Deals!

Saw a deal on Living Social and called the Hotel and asked if a voucher would be honored on particular dates. At that I time I was told that they would, purchased the voucher and called back to actually make the reservations. Now, being told that voucher is subject to room "subject to availability".

Thankfully, the voucher is returnable but my business is not. Too many other options in Reno. This is second time getting the run around with them not honoring posted deals. (Note: the first time was with a deal on their own website.)

We make multiple trips to Reno each year.....this place will never again be considered to meet my family's needs.

There was an error made during the online reservation process. I believe it was the online reservation system that erred and booked my room two weeks in advance of when I was to be there. They billed my account for the full amount of a two night stay. I didn't find out until a week after my supposed stay when I received an email asking to complete this survey. Obviously I was a NO SHOW!! I spoke with the hotel manager Kimberly, she did offer me a discounted price for the two correct nights but she was unwilling to credit my account or apply any of my payment towards another two night stay. This would have been my first stay at the Siena. I will not be stepping foot in this hotel or the casino. Unbelievable to me that a couple hundred bucks for a room could end up costing the casino thousands of dollars in gaming dollars and they are unwilling to do the right thing. I have made reservations and will be gambling at the Grand Sierra!! Thanks but NO THANKS!!

Horrible experience. Will not stay there again. Went on our anniversary and experience was not good. Second night our room was never cleaned, no towels so we basically did not get the full use of the room. When we asked the manager she said it was because we had a do not disturb, which we did but called front desk to ask for the room to be cleaned, it never was. Asked for a wake up call when phone rang I picked up and then hung up. Soon after 2 men were pounding on the door saying it was a wellness check. Stayed in 100's of hotels and this has never happened. Manager stated she has opened hotels worldwide and this normal. Most of the staff was rude and angry and made no attempt to make sure we were happy. Isn't the customer always right? Stay far away from this hotel!

We probably hadn't been here in a year+ since we came here the other night.     We were looking for a bar to chill at since we were already downtown but didn't want to deal with the parking and walking around required to go to the big places in town.  We valet'ed and walked in immediately noticing they have (again) remodeled the inside.  It was quite nice actually - very bright and clean.    The Siena comes off as more upscale and updated compared to the other venues downtown thanks to this.   We made our way over to the lounge bar (I forget the name) and ordered ourselves a couple drinks.

Service was pretty good although when a working girl came in to order a drink we had a harder time getting attention from our original bartender.

What irritated me though - and made me dock a star - was the fact that when we ordered our drinks (GG Martini and Tanqueray and Tonic) the first thing out of the bartenders mouth is "We don't comp those drinks. Well drinks only can be comped".  OK great, we still want those drinks even if we're paying for them.  Then more frustratingly is that these drinks were poured into itty bitty glasses that I WOULD expect the comp'd drinks to come in.   Don't get me wrong, I know places have to have some kind of bar they set for what people can get but I hate that it's assumed the only reason you are there is to get free drinks.

Regardless, it was still a good experience.  The live music they had there on a Friday night was a nice touch.

The new Siena exceeded my expectations and then some. After booking a cheap room, I read some negative reviews not realizing the statements focused on the errors of previous owners. I was ready for something seedy with bad service and found a beautiful hotel with a courteous staff who were kind enough to grant me an early check-in. The king-bed room was spacious, the bed soft with incredible bed sheets, and the bathroom large and clean. Although I never used the restaurants, bar or casino during my hotel stay, they did appear inviting. The only request I could make of Siena is to place electrical outlets by the bedside. Other than that tiny inconvenience, it was a great and comfortable hotel.

We usually stay at the Peppermill but they were already booked for the weekend. So, I called the Siena after our friends told us it was a great stay. Booking the room was easy and super affordable. When we arrived we asked if they had any upgrades available for the night, they did. We upgraded to a King suite and it was extremely nice. It had a separate living area to the room and a large bathroom (Jacuzzi tub was awesome). The rooms and the casino have been upgraded so everything is new and nice. They have a sushi bar and a restaurant (forgot the name) but you buy one thing at full price you get the second item for free (thought that was a great deal), food was good better than I thought it would be. The only thing is that they don't tell you they put a 150 dollar hold on your card until you check out in case you destroy their room. After we checked in I noticed the charge but it was just a hold and the front desk removed it after we checked out the next day. Overall, it was a great stay and we were very happy that we stayed there. If the Peppermill is booked we definitely be back here.

Stayed here for 3 days over Hot August Nights 2012. I'm a local and had not stayed here before. I was absolutely impressed with Siena. The rooms were clean and well furnished. Room service was good, and overall i was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. I didn't have high expectations.

The casino is smallish but clean and seemed to have newer machines and busy tables. Note: I didn't play, so cant tell you what payout was like. The main bar near restaurant is nice with friendly staff and decent cocktails (great view of Truckee river). Location is great, as you're a short walk from many bars and downtown venues.

Only downsides: Security staff outside was vicious! I was either getting heckled for trying to park (they figured anyone seeking a spot was a Hot August Night person, not a guest), or getting run down as they pushed rudely past me. Next, the Peet's coffee inside. Horrible service, it's like they weren't trained at ALL on anything coffee-related. Also, my shower ran out of hot water in about 5 minutes one of the days.

Don't let those small annoyances sway your opinion on the Siena though. I'd recommend it to others, as I'm now doing! Note: didn't eat at the restaurants so can't say either way.

Nice stay at a decent rate (199/night).

We just stayed there during the Reno Rib Cookoff about three weeks ago and I LOVE this hotel. I booked  a standard room with two queen beds about two months before we went but a few weeks before we went I got a call saying that the computer had malfunctioned and that there were no rooms like that when I booked so they'd give me a king with a rollaway bed. I was like okay. Well we get there and I ask what kind of room we had and the guy told me we were upgraded to a DELUXE KING SUITE, at no extra charge!!! It was the nicest room. Pullout bed, living room, nice bedroom, two refrigerators, two BIG screen tvs, a jet tub next to a nice two head shower and a nice view of the river!!! We were beyond ecstatic! The casino also had my favorite slot machine (Tabasco!) and I won on it! My other two roommates also won on the roulette and black jack tables!!

The staff was super friendly (as was the other hotel guests) and we just had a great time. Only downside was some old lady next door complaining that we were too loud the first night (it was a holiday weekend and only like 9 or 10pm you old bitty!!). But we had a great time and were treated very nicely. We'll definitely be back.

This hotel is too expensive for the limited available options(no free breakfast) and the smoke filled room, that was suppose to be non smoking.  We stayed with our family of 6 in a room that had only 2 beds, because when we reserved the room, it said it allowed 6 people.  I assumed there would be a way to have a roll a way bed for the 2 kids. however upon check in, that was not true.  The desk person said, " I dont know why that booking sight keeps allowing that..." well hello.. you dont think that your hotel should fix that? I was pist, and it was a holiday weekend, so I could not find any other hotel that would be available....we stayed, and the room was so smelly, we could not breath, and then the blanket/sheet thing had stained blood spots on it...we asked them to change it, and they did, however, ,,when they changed it again, they put on more bloody sheets..horrible.no one seemed to care, no one asked us upon check out how our stay was..if she did I would have said how horrible our stay was.. they did not offer any kind of help or comp for our bad experiences. .the only thing good was that it was near the river and we had fun floating down the river with our family.  We also had a huge problem with parking.  The casino was boring, and the food was over priced..we just ate at other fun and different kinds of food establishments...over all, I would not recommend this place..stay at the grand sierra, or silver legacy..this is not worth it..the pool is a joke..so small..and no lights in it at night...not fun.

I feel that a hotel is in the business of providing good service to their patrons, to make them feel pampered and taken care of.  I usually don't ding a place for poor service because I realize that it could be a one off experience and if the place is otherwise quality, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.  That said, I wish I could give this place less than one star for the deplorable service and treatment we were afforded, and it wasn't just a one time event, which I could easily chalk up to just that personality, we were treated with indifference and uncaring staff for three shifts.

On Saturday, I saw a mouse in our room.  Yes, A MOUSE.  I called the front desk immediately.  I understand that hotel does have vermin and insects, I just would rather not see it.  Someone was sent up and he was very helpful and apologetic, and did the best he could to fix the problem.  We were told an exterminator would be sent immediately.  A member of staff (who will remain nameless) told us that this was actually not unheard of because the property was abandoned for a few years and they have a procedure in place to deal with it.  

We told the front desk of the problem and that we would like to be there when the exterminator showed up.  Exterminator never showed up.

My friend and I decided that this would most likely not happen again, so we didn't request to change rooms and just grinned and bore it.  We called the front desk at 9:30 for a cab at 10:15.  This also, never came.  We told the different staff at the front desk about this problem and mentioned the mouse, no one did anything.

So while we were waiting for a car, we told the bell hop about the mouse problem, and he basically called me a liar, that it was unheard of, and that since we were on the sixth floor, it couldn't have happened.  I was LIVID.  I'm not in the business of making up stories for whatever reason, we never asked the hotel to comp us for anything nor planned to, and to be called a liar by one of their staff was very offensive.

The next day upon check out, we once again informed the front desk (yet another different set of staff) about the mouse and that an exterminator never came so that they may call one to fix the problem and were met with stares.  No apology, no I hope you come again, nothing.

I wouldn't have taken the time to make out this review if it was a one off thing, but we were constantly met with unapologetic, uncaring staff.  And to be called a liar by one of their staff was highly offensive and the last straw.  I'd rather stay somewhere else next time we are in town.  We had such high hopes for this place because my friend and I like to travel to Reno because it's so close for a quick getaway when we feel like it.  The exterior and the room were nice so we would have liked to make this place our regular hotel, but after this nightmare of a weekend, we'd rather invest our patronage and our money elsewhere.  Shame.

The Siena is still a small friendly Hotel Spa Casino with $5 table games and lots of newer slots.  The location is on the bank of the Truckee River two blocs east of Virginia Street, which is the "main" street in downtown Reno.  The hotel is newer than most with nice rooms and furnishings.  We stayed here about two years ago and stopped in today to update our players cards.

I feel compelled to write this review, even though we only checked in two hours ago. Our room is adequate, but depressingly ordinary. There is no view whatsoever and our window is frosted 3/4 of the way up, making sure we can't see whatever is out there. I can only guess that a room with one king bed for one night-type reservation gets the dregs. There is no chair, but there is an ottoman. We'll see how it goes, I'll update later, but based on this room I wouldn't stay here again - it's making me depressed. (This hotel was recommended by friends.)

Update: Ok, adequate for sleeping, but not a very pleasant room. Maybe I should have expected the attention to be on the gaming, duh.

However the room is clean, just very basic. I should give a shout out to the registration desk staff, very helpful, as well as the staff at the cafe (see below), who found a staff member to give us accurate walking directions to our destination.

A quick dinner was had last night at the coffee shop style restaurant, called The River View Cafe. A rather extensive menu, nicely presented and quite good. Husband had the club sanny, his usual, and it was huge, 4 inches high, at least, with lots of meat, avocado and very nice bread. I had the quesadilla, which had sleeper diced Ortega chiles, very yummy. We'll head there for breakfast this morning.

Would we stay again? Probably not. It's not for us, but may be okay for you. Maybe I'm just grouchy.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a recommendation from a friend. Although, we only stayed for one night, it was a great experience!  After the long drive from Sacramento and walking most of the day taking photographs, it was a pleasure to be able to kick back and relax in a very clean, comfortable and gorgeous suite that overlooked the river.

The staff at the front desk and the wait staff at the River View Cafe were all very friendly, professional and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were great and reasonably priced.  The casino was very nice too (bright, clean, did not reek of smoke). I'm not much of a gambler but I would've tried a game or two had we stayed longer. It's also nice to know that they are pet-friendly.

I was totally impressed so, needless to say, next time we're in Reno we'll DEFINITELY stay here!

The boyfriend and I got back last night from our Reno weekend. I booked 2 nights about 2 months ago via the Living Social deal (2 nights for $99 + a bottle of wine & a 2 for 1 prime rib dinner)

First off, the 2 for 1 prime rib dinner is an "anybody can get this on Friday night" kind of deal. Whatever, still a deal. Here's my review:

Upon driving through Virginia St. (the strip) we noticed that the city of Reno is just TEARING THAT SHIT UP! It's hard enough to navigate downtown Reno! Whatever, not Siena's fault, and to it's credit it is located about a block away from the strip on Lake St. The parking lot was fine, big enough to allow us to find a spot within the first row every time we left and came back. There was a valet service we didn't utilize. (Why bother? I saw a spot!)

Walking through the doors, it was nice. Updated and upscale. Modern, sharp edges, black & white, etc. The boyfriend had to tote in most of our stuff as I have a semi-recurrent princess complex. (Just kidding, I got what I could carry) He sat in the lobby as I stood in line. Speaking of the line, it wasn't huge, but damn it took forever.  On a side note:

To the couple that thought bringing their 5 school aged kids to Reno was a good idea of a family vacation, ever heard of Disney Land? Or anywhere else that isn't Smoke/Drug/Crack whore filled? Whatever. Your kids are in my way, running and screaming and being little asshats.

In any event, we waited about 15 minutes to check in. The staff was nice, accommodating & seemed knowledgeable about the dining options. She offered me my free bottle of wine. Being a rum drinker, and never really touching the stuff, she asked me "White or Red?" I went with red. Pretty color. "Cabernet or Merlot?" Hmmm... Merlot? Yes, I think there's some good food made with Merlot. As we speak, the bottle is sitting lonely somewhere in a bag.

We were given a room on the 6th floor. Cool. The elevator was kinda rickety but whatever, I don't judge. As we opened the door to the room, we were pretty taken aback at the quality. Nice 37" flat screen (Samsung!) Huge pillows (Lots of them! We didn't even have to bring our home-brought pillows to the room!) A nice dresser which houses a refrigerator on one side and 4 drawers on the other, (taken advantage of by only myself) a nice sitting area and desk area, and last but not least, a Truckee river view! I don't think I've EVER had a river view hotel room! Points Siena, points. There was also a room safe (baaarely big enough to fit my laptop, but it DID fit. With coercion.)

I would say the only real downfall to the room was definitely the bathroom. Though it was updated and nice looking, the remodeled bathtub left a lot to be desired, it seemed as though the flooring hadn't taken to the foundation, as it was kind of... "bubbly" when we walked on it, as though it weren't laid down correctly. We also weren't a fan of the plastic faucets and housings, but it DID look nice. There was a coffee maker in there that we never took advantage of too.

Oh yeah! Creepily, Friday night, when we got back to our room from dinner, the lamps were on! I was like, wtf man? Someone in here? My boyfriend pointed out that we had new towels... Housekeeping came after 8 pm to give us new towels? Cool... but super creepy. ALSO: Housekeeping comes early, and knocks super loud.

My first thought when entering the casino floor was how tiny it was... Though I am used to "locals" casinos, which are obviously smaller than those on the strip, this gaming area was CUTE. BUT, it did have a few of my favorite machines. Da Vinci's diamonds seemed to be paying out just fine, as did a few of the others (Tabasco, Cleopatra & the Poker machine next to the Da Vinci's diamonds) I would say all in all the slots were looser than the strips slots, but that is of course, to be expected.

The drink girls came around pretty often, though the service was pretty slow for such a small casino floor.

All in all, we definitely enjoyed our stay and will be back. (if they send us some coupons!) 4 stars!

The room itself was very nice. Clean carpets, comfortable bed, nice furnishings.

HOWEVER, the air conditioning was broken, which we didn't notice until we were trying to sleep and discovered how hot is was. OK, fine, we opened the window, but on the third floor in our room (325) the window opens to all of the A/C units for the building - so the vents from all the other rooms are now blowing into our room not to mention the NOISE of the A/C motors. The front desk said we could change rooms, but at 2AM we were so tired we just slept in the heat.

Also, the tub didn't drain - always lovely to take a shower in ankle deep shampoo water.

Also, the keys didn't work.

Also, I ordered a baked potato from room service for dinner and asked specifically for the bacon to be left off (the bacon wasn't even listed on the menu - but I've been burned before by baked potatoes) and it showed up STUFFED with bacon.

Also, they were changing the carpets in the Casino so the stench of carpet glue permeated the lobby and restaurants.

This place is clearly trying to be a boutique environment in dingy Reno. It's not working.

I was a frequent visitor when Siena was owned by Barney Ng,  But did NOT stay in the hotel THIS visit.   Best view in town (overlooks the river)  from the North facing rooms.

This review is on the casino, bar and restaurants only.

I have always preferred staying and playing where your business is noticed and appreciated.   I find the smaller  the joint, the more they appreciate your action.   This was true under Barney and somewhat less now...but still better than any of the bigger joints.

I have a friend who's a local and  highly rated player at Peppermill and this is his new favorite spot and mine as well.   He plays the goofy new slots and I prefer Dbl Dbl bonus VP at the bar near the cocktail station.

Just before Saint Patrick's day, played four or five times and  we both had very good luck.  I hit a dime royal and a  4 aces w/kicker for $ 2k.   Fun bartenders and cocktail waitresses makes even losing more tolerable.

I used to be a big craps player but don't much care for the 3x, 4x, 5x odds and wish I knew at least ONE of the craps crew.

Comps seem to come fairly easily here and I HIGHLY recommend the Sushi Bar (Chris).    

So much more to say....but I'm running late right now.

I am a child of the 60's and I do like the occasional Beach Boys blast from the past.    But 6 HOURS of 1965 tunes are just NOT RIGHT !

No doubt they will be hiring a Vice President of Music soon....and when they do....HOW ABOUT MIXING IT UP SOME ???  Nothing wrong with SOMETHING recorded in the last 20 years or so is there?

I just HATED their music mix...after about 15 minutes !!

2nd star only because of location on the river and close to awesome bars/restaurants on riverwalk and beds are comfy.  Will not stay again or recommend.  Definitely not worth the $100 rate.  Had to have housekeeping come clean tub when we checked in due to stains (looked like blood but wasnt).  Everything about casino & bars, restaurants are tiny.  Their sports bar and lounge was a short bar with 8 stools and 0 staff.  Pool is small which is fine but no har or wait staff.  You can call in an order and staff will deliver but no one seems to clean up so there were trays of empty beer cans, food containers and just generally a messy turnoff.  Their sushi restaurant looked like a mini cafeteria.  Staff not friendly; several times when we were looking for someone, staff would make eye contact and turn the other way or continue talking with other staff or keep using their phone.

Totally torn. Five stars for the rooms (our suite overlooked the river, was modern, comfortable and had a cool layout). The whole property looks great- they've put a lot of money into it and it shows. Everything is new, in great condition and has a fun, classy vibe.

Most of the staff went above and beyond to make our stay great (shout out to Bruce at the front desk, the housekeeping staff, the sports book people and the staff at the sushi restaurant (FIVE STARS).

Management (of both Casino and restaurants) were complete jokes. The Casino promotions department is borderline fraudulent.

BF signed up for a players card due to a promotion which guaranteed up to $200 in freeplay, matching every dollar lost in the first day of play. When he signed up, he was given the card and we hit the casino. When he tried to redeem his promotion, they told him that in fact he had to wait a full 24 hours to get the freeplay loaded. OK, no problem.

24 hours later, they tell him that they will only give him $25 PER TRIP, but that the promotion expires at the end of October. No literature was provided and NO ONE told him that at sign up. Anyway, he finally gets the free play loaded, but the inexplicably load only $20, and the Casino manager told him "too bad." If you are going to offer a promotion, 1) Make sure your staff all knows the details and informs guests and 2) don't make a guest jump through tons of hoops and 3) if you only want to offer $20 of freeplay, then freaking DO IT. We would have been much happier if they said "$20" is the promotion than this crap!!!!

Finally, we loved the sushi restaurant so much that we wanted to go back for night #2. When we got there (no posted hours and still people eating), we were told by a manager (curtly) that they were closed (7:00 PM on a Monday). No sorry folks, no here is another restaurant to try. Just walked away. The kicker is the awesome sushi chef told us that he would have given us the green light and was really sorry we couldn't eat there again. Manger was so, so rude.

So I guess, stay there, eat the sushi, drink at the sports bar but DO NOT give the casino one penny of your money!

I didn't stay at the hotel but I went to the L2 lounge upstairs for Monday night football, great TV's real cute decor I loved the lounge but the apps were terrible, if they had better apps I would go there more often. It would be better if they offered more for football apps and drink specials.

Nice place right on the river. Stayed here for two nights with my wife and we had a great time. It's got everything you'd want in a big resort but its a smaller property so it's much easier to enjoy. We played blackjack, ate at the restaurants, did the spa, went to their club/ lounge and swam in the pool. We were happy with everything.

Now this is a very decent second-tier casino/hotel.  A little bit out of the way, and certainly not as glitzy as some, it's nevertheless friendly, clean, and comfortable.  The rooms were very cheap but still well-appointed.  No mini-bar, but as soon as I asked for a microwave they sent one up.  Decent view of the Truckee River, a peaceful retreat.

I brought my small hound, and found the Siena to be the most dog-friendly casino I've ever experienced.  My Best Friend was welcome not just in the halls and elevators -- I took her to the slot machines, roulette, Blackjack tables, the sushi restaurant, the coffee shop -- nothing but compliments from the staff and guests.  But there is a limit: my dog did the one thing she shouldn't have done: jumped on the couch in the lobby: security were on me within seconds :-)

The restaurants were very enjoyable.  All you can eat sushi of very acceptable quality for only $24.  A great steak dinner at Da Vinci's for only about $40 including everything.  Peet's Coffee helped me keep the old energy level up for gaming.

The gaming?  Quite OK, lots of slots, a few tables.  I fell in love with the Michael Jackson video machine; dropped a few hundred on that one.

All in all, a true entertainment bargain.  I intend to get back to the Siena as soon as I can.

After signing up for the Rewards card at Sienna they sent me a flyer in the mail for a couple free nights to stay during June.  SCORE!!!  So the wife and I came up here for the weekend and were surprised when the room was a deluxe room.  I mean they could of put us in a normal room since it was free, but, no really, I am not complaining.  I swear!  This was a bigger room with a desk, small table with chairs and a lounge chair.  Every room also comes with a mini fridge, flat screen tv(which we not once turned on) and an ipod docking station.  Didnt have to use my docking station that I brought.  Everything in the room was clean and new looking.  Bathroom wasnt overly special but just fine(even though a fan for dropping the kids off at the pool or when you take a hot shower would be nice).  We had the river as a view so that was cool.  Service and staff was nice and friendly.  Casino isnt anything special and kind of dead but it did just fine with $5 blackjack tables.  It was clean though.  It is about a ten minute walk to the main strip down Virginia street.  We will for sure stay here again, good times!

I visited the Siena for my Children's spring break. If I could give more than five stars I would. The staff was very professional and helpful. The manager I wrote down her name and lost the paper I think it  was Kimberly. She was amazing and very helpful. We live in San Jose and my Son left his shoe in the room. Kimberly and the head of housecleaning deep cleaned the room and found my Sons shoe under the bed skirt. We ate at the restaurant and loved the food! We will be back to the Sienna soon. Thank You Kimberley you rock!

The newly reopened Siena is the classiest casino in Reno.

They've opened up the gaming floor and removed some of the machines and walls to break up the space.  The Siena now feels a bit like a classy lounge with slot machines rather than a casino.  It's stylish and tasteful in its execution.

The Riverwalk cafe has a lovely location on the east side of Center Street overlooking the Truckee River, right next to the bridge on Center Street.

The Siena is also aggressively pursuing games players offering to match any other casino's freeplay if you bring in the freeplay coupon and give it to them instead, has single 0 roulette and 6-8-10 odds on craps.  If you're going to lose, you can lose more slowly this way.

I did a little tour just to check the place out a few weeks ago and was really impressed how nice it was, particularly compared to its former incarnation prior to closing a few months ago.

It's as classy as it gets in Reno despite some of the really nice areas in the Peppermill (which are still too busy), the nicer areas of the Grand Sierra Resort and the really attractive floor layout at Harrah's.

This is the kind of place I take a girl that I like to impress her and show her a nice, classy time.

I'm looking forward to exploring here further and transferring all of my (modest) freeplay here when I can.

We live in Reno, and for the recent holiday our roommates family was in town, so we treated ourselves to a staycation!  We picked the Siena for our stay because of it's location downtown/midtown and short walking distance to St. James Infirmary where I work.  Perfect combination!!  We will have a repeat of this for sure.

The remodel is amazing.  It's very elegant and feels very relaxing and calming.  The rooms are beautiful.  Bed was super comfy and cozy.  Love the blankets and pillows too.  Just perfect.

We booked 3 nights with a double queen.  We love to get our rest, and having our own bed was spectacular!  When it comes to sleep, there is no other way to go.

The staff was amazing.  Everybody smiled and treated us so warm and friendly.  Seriously awesome.  

This Casino is just big enough to feel a level of extravagance, and yet small enough to not feel so overwhelming and too much.  Smoking in the casino area, no big deal.  You've got to let people be people.

The hotel floors were fresh, and clean, and very inviting.

Thursday (Thanksgiving)  we enjoyed the convenience of eating at the River Cafe before I headed to work.  We sat by the window, by the Truckee.  So nice sitting next to running water.

The food is satisfactory.  Great variety of foods to enjoy.   It was convenient to have such a variety, yet I would not seek it out for just sitting down to eat.   I've really been spoiled by the amazing and local restaurants in the area.  But hey, it was Thanksgiving, and we got to fill our bellies, and stay relaxed.  I'm happy with that.  I guess if they really wanted to step it up, they could bring in a local harvesting chef and restaurant and really step the food up so that it would be a destination place, whether we were staying there or not.  

Although it's hard to deny the amazing access it does have to local hot spots:

So maybe we all get the best of the things we like.  Lots of people are perfectly happy with a general pallet.  I totally get it.  To be noted they had another restaurant and sushi bar, just did not try them yet.

I love to "push the buttons"  as I like to call it, or gamble once in a while.  Caesar took great care of us while we visited and pushed the buttons when I got off work thursday night.  

Patricia took excellent care and attention to us while we ordered some cheese fries to soak up the alcohol we had consumed late in the night.  Super bonus having a little gluttony.  For sure! for sure!

I recommend this place for Renoites or out of town visitors.  You really can't go wrong.  Like I say, you get the best of all worlds. and the 24 hour Pete's Coffee is a major bonus.  Wether it's during the holiday or for us when we return for another general staycation, we will return.

Thank you Siena for making us feel taken care of during a busy busy work week.  We love you!

The prices were amazing too!  =)

They have a fridge in the room, so you can bring healthy treats, and you can order a microwave to your room.  Shone usually tucks me in with a "warmy" at night, and this is something I missed greatly because I did not bring my warmy.  I will next time.

My girlfriend and i have come here several times now and every time it is better then the last, hence the 5 star review.

The hotel is by far the nicest hotel in Reno. The rooms are decorated fantastically and are always clean. The beds are soooooo comfy, the pillows are unbelievable, i always sleep so great. The Suites are out of this world. The Jacuzzi on top of the hotel is so relaxing and amazing.  I can't say enough about this hotel.

The Casino is great too. All the pit bosses and table games dealers are friendly, funny and make it fun and enjoyable to play. The entire establishment is clean, it is well maintained and its located next to the river is one of the best parts!

The Siena has become a home away from home!

We couldn't be more happier with our stay here. The rooms and the hotel decor looks new and modern. The amenities in our room were nice, especially the plasma tv and fridge.  The casino and front desk staff are very patient and attentive. The only complaint my wife and I had was the shower head and water pressure. The shower head seemed clogged and the pressure was very low. Other than that, we'd definately stay here again.

Had dinner at white water restaurant in the siena casino & hotel spa.  nice restaurant except they have not figured out if they are a fine dining or coffee shop.  you get a lot of sandwiches for dinner as a fine dining restaurant and a few dinner entrees.  i'm not into hamburgers with white linens cause it just increases the price of the food and its still a hamburger.  my server was lisa and she was ok.  if you question as item, she gets a bit defensive so its best to say nothing if she's waiting on your table.

In many years of traveling nationally and internationally this was my worst hotel experience.  My wife and I are frequent travelers to the Reno/Tahoe area.  We found an offer for a 2 night stay at the Sienna.  The offer required us to pre-pay for the room 30 days in advance and our payment was non-refundable.  It looked good so we reserved a non-smoking room with a king bed.    My wife called the day before our arrival to confirm and was told that our room would be ready.  When we arrived, we checked in and went to our room.  We knew the moment we opened the door that this was a smoking room as the room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke and there were ash trays throughout the room.  We went back to the desk and told them this room would not be acceptable.  They stated that this room was the only room available but we could upgrade for "only" $75 per night.  The hotel was obviously not full (and we were told this when we confirmed our reservation the day before) but they were unwilling to give us another room even after we showed them the printed reservation that we had for a non-smoking room.  I asked to speak with the manager and was given a business card and was told I could call and leave a message.  They were not apologetic and we were constantly reminded that if we were not happy with the room we could upgrade for only $75 per night.  We were not willing to give in to their obvious bait-and-switch tactics so we decided to tough it out.  The room itself smelled like a dirty ash tray and cigarette smoke had permeated the bedding, drapes, carpet, etc.  The carpet was dirty and stained with numerous cigarette burns in it.  The room was very noisy and we could hear the elevator going up and down and there was a large HVAC unit just outside of our window that constantly cycled on and off.  There was also a color changing spotlight that illuminated a graphic on the side of the building that shined on our window all night long.  To add insult to injury, we found that our credit card had been double billed for the room.  Needless to say we will never be going to the Sienna again...

This is our first time staying at Siena. We came through for a day last month, got a rewards card, maybe spent $100 and got 3 free nights. From the moment we walked in the customer service has been fantastic! Valet was courteous, prompt. Check in- a breeze. Breakfast in Whitewater the next day was SO GOOD! Our server there was fabulous. Cant remember his name though. I had to visit the Rewards desk a few times to ask questions, and they were always so helpful!  I was standing at the Keno kiosk trying to figure it out and Jeff walked up and explained everything about it, even saw me later and asked if I had won and if I had any other questions. Dinner at Sushi Saga was amazing!! Our server Jovani was excellent! Recommended the BEST sushi roll we've ever had (The Priscilla) and he was so great interacting with other tables and with us. We also brought our dog with us, and I was so relieved that it was a hassle free experience. We will be back to Reno, and will only stay at The Siena.

Stayed 7/21-7/23.  Will not stay again even with a comp.  even with early check in 1:00 p.m room still was't ready. Asked for extra pillows  didn't get them. Phone did not work in room. Had to use speaker on it. Window would open but would not close. Air conditioner was tricky to get going, took me 12 hours to figure out. Beds really low to the ground. Window had some kind of film on it and only 1 sheer panel. The best part of my stay was checking out. CJ was both bellman and valet and he was fantastic.

We went to Reno for my husbands 30th bday & I wanted a bigger room for all of our friends to come pre-party at before we went out to the club, so I booked the Deluxe Suite. The room was much smaller then I had thought it would be & the fridge was no where near the wet bar, it was in the bedroom, under the TV, very weird place to put it, took me a while to find it!! Overall the room was OK.. but not worth 300 a night!! The casino downstairs was really small also!! We spent most of our time there at the Silver Legacy.

Hotel is nicely decorated, king standard room is pretty small. We did have a nice view of the Truckee River. Room was not overly clean, stains on carpet, peeling paint in bathroom; maids left dirty dishes in the room. WIFI wouldn't connect to any devices. Went for dessert one night in restaurant, horrible is the only way to describe it. Also found it strange that nowhere in the room was there a directory of services.
Won't return here, extremely underwhelmed.

Down by the river, I shot my bankroll (apologies to Neil Young).

The Siena, perched above the Truckee River, is the Lazarus of current Reno hotel-casinos, having shut its doors in October 2010, but reopening to refreshed grandeur last April.

The casino features several of the newest slot machines not operated at the roomier Harrah's.  I didn't lose my money playing any new games, which are often the stingiest in any casino.  It was older, common slots that ate up my profits from the newer games.  Fortunately, it wasn't a fortune.  Don't ask me why I kept playing them.

If you like predominantly '60s and '70s hit records played loudly, you'll like the atmosphere while gaming in Siena's casino.  If you expect good ventilation in this stylishly remodeled building, you'll have a problem.  Secondhand smoke is even more unbearable than the secondhand slots.  Beverage servers on a Thursday afternoon were as difficult to corral as eels slithering through a rapid river.

But I'll probably return to the Siena on my next trip as Reno keeps me searchin' for a cart of gold (more apologies), and I'm gettin' old.

Just returned from a stay at the Siena again. No changes to my previous review more of the same but I used the pool this time and wanted to update.

The pool area is very small and located on the 4th floor. There are ZERO amenities and services available at the pool. Their pool "service" consists of a sign next to a phone on a wall which has a "menu" printed on it. You have to call down to room service which will bring up your order after a while.

When we got up there we could tell some other guests had taken advantage of their pool "service" because of the trays and trash laying everywhere.  I get the feeling that other than the people that lock and unlock the doors to the pool, nobody else from the hotel goes up there.

They don't even pipe the casino music out to the pool area so there is an awkward lack of atmosphere. On the plus side there is a men's and women's bathroom about 10 feet away from the pool. Would not recommend their pool area.

Love this hotel! I've been coming to Sienna every year for about 7 years and am impressed every single time. They have an awesome hot tub, pool, and gym on the rooftop! There's nothing nicer than getting into a hot tub after a long day of snow boarding. The employees are also extremely friendly and helpful and the Sushi bar is extremely delicious. Recommend Sienna to anyone looking for a relaxing time in Reno!

Enjoyed are stay, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We played blackjack for the first time and some of the dealers were great at teaching us how to play, well others were not.
The bed was ok but I'm use to a Tempur-pedic at home so the bed was a little uncomfortable for me. But over all we enjoyed this hotel and casino.

After not coming to the Siena for almost a year, (no time), finally made it back for happy hour. One of my favorite things here. SO DISSAPOINTED! Ordered Onion rings (AMAZING), Sliders (DRY LIFELESS, TERRIBLE), Clam dip for the chips (PASTE! needed acidity salt, and anything), and wings (GLAD THE COOK KNOWS WHAT FRANKS HOT SAUCE IS) nothing interesting, or good. $40 later, stopped at Silver Peak on the way home. Sad, another meal later. Dont bother to go. Don't know if the chef changed or what. Don't waste your money.

I have never been so disappointed with a hotel ever. We used to stay here monthly back when the old owner and managers where there and it was great. Now, they didn't have us reserved for the right month, then insulted us, gave us the wrong room, never vacuumed for the four days we stayed, then charged us full price after being told they would comp two nights and give us a discount. I WILL NEVER BE BACK! They just lost a long time customer!

Went it the cafe to feet food. Ordered a panini sandwich. Was told it will take 10-15 minutes. Waited for 30 minutes. When I went to ask for status on my panini I was told "oh I forgot" how can you forget when your customer is sitting there waiting for it. Once again.. They failed. Won't be coming back.

We decided to escape Tahoe for the Fourth of July and get a room in Reno.  We do these types of "staycations" in Reno often, but hadn't stayed at Siena.  Here is my experience from start to finish. Upon arrival valet was very courteous and helpful. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly! We stayed on the 9th floor in a suite (got a $50 upgrade offer) and the room was very clean, large, and nice! We spent most of the fourth outside at the Chicken Wing cook off and watching fireworks. We did go to the pool, and like any crazy Friday holiday night, it was full of screaming kids (I know, what do we expect, right ?) there were no pool towels, so the spa had to call someone to bring some (it says in all their collateral that the spa has pool towels readily available) and this kid like 10 minutes later drops a stack off and it is ransacked by all the people, and I had to go Back in to the spa and tell them they needed a boatload of towels, which another kid showed up with 2 stacks this time and I finally got one for myself.  We did lunch at Johnny Rockets and it was good. And gambled a bit in the casino which was clean and nice. Loved being on the Truckee river and so close to all the action too! A good tip is to walk to Pegs for breakfast, it was an awesome diner! All in all, it was a really nice stay. I am a bit of a pool snob, so I am not sure if I would go back knowing that the Atlantis and Peppermill have much better pool decks.. However, I could see how the Siena's pool area would of been perfect if it wasn't a holiday weekend and not so crowded (in all fairness).  I would definitely refer this hotel to others!

I haven't spent a lot of time in Reno even though I've lived in Sacramento for 28 years now. It seems that there was nowhere nice to stay, so I've just bypassed the city. But, this last winter my son convinced me that the Siena was a great place to stay. We had some skiing to do, so I took the plunge. Am I glad I did, what a pleasant surprise!

The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had a room overlooking the Truckee river and it was very picturesque. I like the location, not in the thick of downtown but close enough to walk there easily. Parking is ample and available. The roof top spa was welcoming after a day on the slopes.

The staff stands out, everyone I came into contact with was warm and personable. The casino is not very large but the dealers, wait staff and pit bosses made me feel right at home.

I've been back two more times since that first trip and plan to get back there again as soon as I can fit it in. On my last visit we dined in Da Vinci's. I had the prime rib special and it was great. Beats the buffets any day at half the cost.

Definitely the best that Reno has to offer! I will be spending more time in Reno only because of this hotel. Just try not to book all the rooms when I plan on coming up... or I'll keep driving, this is the ONLY place I'll stay in Reno.

We had a great three day stay! Enjoyed a great spa day! Spa prices are the best in Reno!  Wine was served and the staff was especially nice.  Room was clean and roomy. The casino is smaller than most which we liked. The Staff was great and helpful. The restaurant serves a great breakfast. They have a great coffee bar that stays open late, great chai.  We are planning to stay here again soon... who wouldn't with all the extras they throw in when you sign up and play! We got a 3 night stay, spa credit, restaurant credit... very generous! We were treated well!

This is my first trip to Reno, so I can't compare the Siena to Harrah's or the El Dorado or any of the other major casino hotels.  And I don't gamble (I'm in town for work) so I can't speak intelligently about the casino.

But, for the price, the place is excellent.  The front desk was very helpful and even upgraded my room (it pays to be nice to the front desk people!).  

My room is generously sized with huge windows with a nice view of the Truckee River right below and the casino area of Reno behind that.  

The bed is comfortable -- this is paramount.  No hotel can get a decent review from me if the bed stinks.  

Another big plus:  an empty, working mini-fridge.  Every hotel room should have one of these!

The bathroom is a bit more basic.  The prefab shower/tub is coming apart at the seams, so when taking a shower it's like standing on bubble wrap.  Lame shower head, etc.

I should also note that, as smoke-filled as the public areas of the casino and lobby are, my non-smoking room was perfectly fine, air-quality-wise.  No complaints there.

This is not an expensive place.  At least, the rate my client paid was quite modest.  So for what it is, in a city that might not have that many good choices, I would have to say the Siena is a winner.  I'd stay here again.

The bed and headboard was very noisy (To the room next door-sorry). The bed was comfortable and the room was clean so that's a big plus. We were on the 8th floor and there were a lot of mechanical noise that we can hear (AC units on the rooftop of the lower floor which we can see, elevator-even bough we're a few doors down, and other unidentifiable noise). Probably won't be coming back to the Sienna!

My partner and I have been staying here for years. The Siena is our #1 place for lodging. The rooms are well kept, clean, spacious, there is a refrigerator, a safe large enough for a laptop/tablet, and the beds are super comfortable.

If it wasn't for Groupon, I would never had thought to stay here.  But $99 for two nights  with a bottle of wine?  Why not?  I haven't been to Reno in years, but times are tough and I can't afford to fly down, well, anywhere really.  So if I can drive there, it's an option for a vacation.  

Siena was actually pretty good for my family of four.  I was a bit skeptical with all the other reviews, but we had good service everywhere we went.  The front desk checked me in within 5 minutes.  Self parking was pretty open so we were able to park real close to the entrance.  I wish I knew this place was only about a block away from Reno's minor league team - I would have tried to schedule our trip during one of their home games.

Room was clean, AC worked, but I see what everyone is saying about the bathrooms though.  No problems in ours, but they could have done more work on the bathtubs.  We were limited on channels on the TV, but not their fault.  I think it's that Viacom Dish dispute.  We were on the 8th floor and had a nice view, and no problems with noise from the neighbors at all.  Then again, I hope we weren't the loud ones.  There was free wifi in the rooms.  

It's a pretty nice walk along the Riverwalk, though somewhat sketchy characters around at times.  But a couple blocks up are some pretty good restaurants if you're looking for options outside of the usual casino fare.  While the casino in the Siena is ok, it is pretty small. There's some restaurants on site also, but I didn't try them out so I can't really comment on them.  The sushi place looked pretty good though.  

The pool was ok - I'm a lap swimmer so seeing that they have a 40 foot lap pool doesn't cut it for me.  But if you just want to lounge by/in the pool, it will do.  The workout room has all the basics and I liked using it daily.  The spa is nearby too if you're looking for a massage or other treatment.

Check out was a breeze also.  They even asked to make sure I got my free bottle of wine, which I did at check in.  I definitely would stay again. Very easy to get to, very easy to walk to the other casino areas and very easy to relax there.  Worth a try if you ask me.

We've been staying here over the years, and the new owners have clearly spent some time and money on the property.

The location is excellent, and it's a very nice walk to the downtown area of Reno.

We were there on the balloon race weekend, and so the rates were not cheap.  We did get to have some drinks on a deck overlooking the river during happy hour, and this was very nice and relaxing.  The prices weren't bad, but don't expect a broad selection of wines.  It's narrow

All in all, nice room, good view, we'll be back.  The coupon for another night for free will help guarantee it.  This is a smaller hotel, and they are attempting to do it correctly.

Stayed here on a business trip. Good sized room, beautiful view of the Truckee River. Good bed. Needed more pillows and there weren't any extra in the room. (why I only give it 4 stars.)
The White Water Restaurant was great. Good food and good service all with a view of the Truckee River.

Room was nice but staff very unpleasant and god forbid you have to leave due to an emergency and happen to forget something in the room.. might as well just go buy whatever it is you left there because even if you offer to pay the shipping on it they give you such grief and don't want to do it. I will never stay here again. I got so much attitude because I had to leave for a family emergency and they gave me so much grief for not stopping to check out first.

I was nervous to book a hotel in Reno after so many reviews were all over the place, but I loved this hotel! You can't reserve nonsmoking online, only request it and hope they'll have one when you check in. But we called and they saved us one though we were off peak so wasn't a problem anyway. The updated room looked over the river and was perfect! Not the Four Seasons but not even close to dive. Would stay there again!

Come to a screeching halt if you're planning on booking a room here.

I was on the road with a friend and decided to treat us to a nice place in Reno, as we were passing by and nearly falling asleep at the wheel. Two shakes of Expedia later and we roll into the Siena around 2 AM, intent on claiming our deluxe suite. Nobody is at the desk. After a long round of coughing noises, we manage to catch the attention of the woman working. She promptly informs us that she can't check us in until 3:30 AM, 'because the system resets and there's nothing I can do.' I give her a blank look. Like, seriously? It's 2 AM and you expect us to hang out in your lobby for an hour and a half? They had a restaurant open, thank God. Of course, said restaurant was staffed by one surly man who refused to take our orders and an apologetic girl running after him with menus...

The room itself was nice. Small, for anything billing itself as 'deluxe', but with a view of a small river, a baseball stadium and a depressing office building. The floor was silent, and the whirlpool tub worked to my satisfaction. Next day before checkout, I went in search of the fitness center (pitifully small room), which was next to the pool (unused), and the spa (closed). I run on the treadmill, we pack up, and I get my receipt from the front desk, telling me that everything's prepaid and taken care of, and wishing me a pleasant day.

Flash forward to three days later. I check my bank account and notice a significant amount of cash missing. The casino had originally taken a $50 deposit, which was explained to me as 'for key returns', a deposit that would be credited back to me upon my departure. Okay, no big. And then I see a separate $150 charge. What's this, now? I certainly didn't order anything that expensive, and the room was already paid for through Expedia. So I call the customer service line and leave a message. No response. I email the customer service through their website link. No response. Shady...

I call my bank and ask them how to stop payment on this, something I've never had to do in my life. They respond that the charges, on for a full week now, have yet to clear, and are just lingering...

Now, I assume this casino's using said 'deposits' for short-term interest revenue with no one as to the wiser. Don't be the next chump they do this to.

This place just plain out sucks. 1.) My living room is bigger than the casino floor. 2.) They have about 5 slot machines. 3.) They have about 2 tables. 4.) They wanna act all fancy but Grand Sierra is kicking your butt in every way.

It's a nice casino...I'll give it that. It's just so boring. Only thing good about this place is the location. You walk to this place and maybe play for 5/6 minutes and leave the hell out. I have never stayed in the hotel but have been offered free nights plenty of times. I would probably stay here but just not play here.

Why siena even exist.....no god damn idea.......

After reading some of the reviews, my husband and I were hesitant to even step foot into the Siena. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We experienced very friendly staff throughout the casino. We ate dinner at Whitewater and had a very friendly server named Justin. He was fantastic! Friendly and funny! He was also very great at recommending other things for us to see and do while we were in town. On top of our server, Justin, being delightful, our meal was fantastic!  Overall, we were very pleased with our experience!!

After reading all of the reviews...I was skeptical on whether or not I would like the Siena Hotel. I am here now, and am very very pleased. The staff was very friendly, rooms are very clean and quiet. We ate at the sushi restaurant last night and it was very good.  
I went down to book a massage at the spa, but they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. At this point, this is the only negative I can say about this hotel. I highly recommend the Siena.

This is a nice looking hotel trying to provide good customer service.  We booked our rooms on Hotel Tonight, so got them at a discount and we DEFINITELY got a DISCOUNT room...very uncool as I  had raved about this place to my parents from a previous visit.  They gave us rooms on the second floor near the convention rooms with a view of the compressor/machines that ran the hotel.  We are very unlikely to stay again, although I'm in Reno 6-12 times a year.  I guess if you book on Hotels Tonight you take a chance on the type of room you get.  Also, we got no answer from the Bell Desk at 8:30 am  so had to take our bags down ourselves.  The Whitewater Restaurant was excellent for dinner, dessert was fabulous and the service was great!

I'd give zero stars if I could.

Had our reservation for a King non-smoking.

We arrived two hours after check in. Forty five minutes later we were given a King-smoking and told we had to pay for it, as we did not cancel.  (Imagine ordering steak and being told you had to pay for the chicken delivered to you).

Even after we left for another hotel, they billed us.  We have the credit card company helping us out with that travesty.  

Just be warned.  It almost ruined the weekend.  Fortunately, we found another quality hotel with good service.

I stay in a lot of hotels and this was one of the worst hotel service experiences I've had. The front desk staff are very rude and if you ask them for something as simple as fresh  towels they will act like you are bothering them. They make you sign an agreement when you get there that you will be out of the room by check out time. Basically they make you feel unwelcome as soon as you get there.

You can tell that this hotel spent all of it's money on advertising and the website because once you get there and experience it for real, the rooms are at the level of a cramped motel 6.  I live in a apartment and was looking forward to spreading out in what an average hotel room size normally is. We were in the standard room and it reminded me a the size of a room you'd get in New York City it was so cramped. It didn't help that there was so much random furniture thrown in the room like it was a storage closet. I was afraid I was going to bump into something when I got up in the middle of the night.  Two of the three lamps didn't work and the window broke when we tried to close it. Much of the room hadn't been vacuumed. It lacked basic things like a do not disturb sign. Towels are probably from the 99 cent store they are so rough.

Don't let this place fool you into thinking it's a nice luxury hotel. It's pretty jenki and I would stay in a $50/night motel over this because I'd know what to expect. Plus, there is no way service could be worse elsewhere.

Nice small hotel with great service.  The casino space is relatively small and the room's AC unit was pretty loud, but the place has been decorated nicely.  The staff make the difference.  We went to the 4th floor pool and there were no towels.  A quick call to the front desk and someone came up with a huge pile of towels.  He did not throw them down but walked around to everyone at the pool to see if they needed any towels.  Bartender at the pool was working overtime to see if people needed new drinks.  Extra towels delivered by housekeeping was good.  Every employee we ran into seemed like they were happy to working at the hotel.

My boyfriend and his best best friend and his wife and sister were coming from Idaho for the Tool concert, I booked two rooms for two nights. The day of going to Reno I called ahead to see for an early check in, yes they said come on in. That was 8 am in the morning! That was pretty cool. When my boyfriend and I got there, we checked in without any problems. We even asked them if the rooms could be next to each other, not problem. Great rooms! Stayed on the 7th floor.. which I think was the best thing ever...went to go gamble and won! must be the floor number ;)

Anyways he has an amazing time in Reno and the staff is always friendly. The only thing I would have to say that could use some work on, while playing slot machines closer to the front of the hotel, having a waitress walk by a lot more... I had to ask other employees to get someone for just a beer.

We had a suite for an evening.  It was a great hotel room and by far the best service in Reno.  We wish we could have stayed a bit longer and spent more time in our room.

The 2 flat screen televisions were fun along with the jacuzzi spa bathtub.
I highly recommend staying here if you have the opportunity

I have no idea what kind of room I was given last night, but it looked nothing like the pictures posted.  I changed my reservation two times, because I was so skeptical about staying at the Siena.  The negative reviews are, unfortunately, spot on. Aesthetically, this place is nice.  Once you get in the rooms, however, it changes.  My room seemed incomplete.  There were no decorations or decorative pillows and little artwork.  My window didn't close and after calling down to the front desk twice, I gave up on someone coming to fix it.  The bathroom was tiny, even for me, and I am quite petite.  The bathroom door was awkwardly placed and the water was slow in draining from the sink.  The restaurants were unappealing, and the front desk staff were not friendly.  The best things about my stay were: access to the rooftop pool/jacuzzi, my chili sweet potato fries at Johnny Rockets, running along the river, and the cash I won 1 minute after sitting down at a machine.

I plan to return to the Reno area in the near future but will not stay here.

I have to say that after reading some of the negative reviews I was a bit uneasy about staying here, but I had a Groupon and decided to give it a try.  I'm glad I did!  Kayla at the front desk was very quick and courteous during check in at around 5:00, and was also very helpful when I lost my phone.

The room my mom and I stayed at was on the 8th floor, and was very quiet.  The beds were very comfy, and the everything was very clean.  I requested non-smoking and was keeping my fingers crossed that the room wouldn't have that air-freshener-over-smoke smell, and it didn't!  The room doesn't have a thermostat, but one of the hot/cold and fan high/low dials.  It held the room at a comfortable temp, but the fan turns on and off with the temperature and it woke me up frequently through the night.  There wasn't an option to have the fan stay on.

The water pressure in the shower was great!  The shower head had a little crack where it attached to the water pipe so I called for maintenance, and within 5 minutes he was at the door to fix it.  Very prompt, and friendly.

The casino is on the small side but had a pretty good selection of video slots, and there's Black Jack and Craps tables as well.

We signed up for the member's card, and received a 50% off prime rib coupon for their restaurant Whitewater.  It was very good - the menu is a la carte though so it can add up quickly even with the coupon.  Lee was our waiter and the service was very good.

All in all everyone was very friendly and efficient, the room was clean and comfortable, the food was good and they have free valet.  No complaints except that heater/air conditioner fan, and that's a minor one.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Reno, and had no idea what to expect when we booked the Siena Hotel. What a treat! The staff are exceptionally nice and went out of their way to treat us with respect and anything we needed.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we were very happy with our choice to stay.
Don't forget to try the all you can eat sushi!
Looking forward to booking another weekend there!

We go to reno annually for my birthday celebration, usually we stay at sierra. But this year we wanted to be downtown so we picked siena for its location.

everything was fine, rooms were decent, very limited tables, sushi restaurant was meh and you wait like 30 minutes in between order.

then came the billing, they charged me for damages to the room. Ok, i asked what damages? they said it was thrashed and dirty. So i said Ok, it's dirty i agree but nothing was damaged. They said they have pictures of damages and when i ask to see them they said they can't show me. WTF? bunch of bs.

people stay in hotels so they don't have to clean up, we even tipped the maid service. If there damages i would pay for them, but there weren't . garbage management trying to make money. Hope this place closes down

If you're looking for the big casino, party, night life scene this isn't it.  Go to the Peppermill. I hesitate to slam this place because if I were staying here on business in say.... Fresno, I'd be perfectly happy with the hotel and the room. But coming here for a romantic or party weekend is like going to the LaQuinta in Fresno.  

The 3rd party spa package booking service (silver voyages) badly screwed up my wife's spa reservation. The billing was equally screwed up. But she was happy with the services.

On a Thursday night there was NOTHING going on in the bar.  Two of the 3 bars were closed all together.  The 3rd had two little old ladies quietly discussing medical problems at a table and the bartender talking with what appeared to be his girlfriend at the bar.

The first room had dried wine on the desk and a big spill on the floor.  The 2nd room was pretty standard.  The hotel has been recently updated, but the bones are very typical.

I've stayed at the Siena two times now.  I've stayed in a corner suite, top floor suite and a standard room.  The Siena has great curb appeal, is on the river and has an incredibly friendly staff.  They have free valet, and a free lot adjacent.  They have a couple restaurants, gift shop and coffee stand.

The rooms are generally quite nice.  The suites are certainly nicer than the standard rooms, but all in all they are pretty solid.  The property is showing some signs, within the rooms of some maintenance issues.  The carpets need to be cleaned/replaced, and there are some issues with walls in two of the bathrooms.  I think with some more maintenance and deep cleaning these rooms would be even better.

The beds are incredibly comfortable, and I always snooze in no time.  They have iPod alarm clocks, but if you have an iPhone 5, beware - you'll need an adapter.  The rooms have a mini-fridge, which is really convenient for a bottle of water, or your leftovers.  Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to use the pool, fitness club or spa.

I haven't gambled here, not my thing - but it seems clean and well staffed, but of course with that smokey touch.  The lobby is smoke free - but you do certainly smell the cigarette smell upon entering.

I've stayed at multiple hotels/casino's in Reno - and this is probably my #2 pick behind the Atlantis.  I enjoy that it's on the river and near good restaurants.

I booked a room here for my 10 month old daughter and I for 2 nights. The price was right, and being from Reno I knew that the Siena, though small, is nicer than other places. The rooms are very small, but clean and comfortable. My view was of a lower roof and their parking lot. Speaking of the parking lot--you guys REALLY need to fix it.
Anyway, everyone was very nice, but one thing in particular stood out. My daughter and I ended up with a miserable stomach bug and had to go home early. The gentleman at the desk decided to remove the charge for the second day because we were leaving early. He did this without me asking. Great customer service!

I was very disappointed with the customer service. When we arrived, the valet was not staffed. We waited about ten minutes before someone came to park the car. We were in Reno for an extended stay and had a few bags. There was no offer to help get our bags. Evidently, the 2 valet staff were also the bellmen.

When we arrived at the front desk to check in, there was one clerk and a line of guests. The clerk was on the telephone and not able to serve the guests. As we stood there a woman came through the lobby barking orders at others she did come behind the counter and start helping guests. When we finally got to the counter we double checked our reservation to confirm we had a river view. The clerk said yes. The clerk explained our room would be available in an hour, which was okay - we knew we were early. They said we could store our bags at the bellman's desk. We waited nearly 20 minutes and went back to the front desk for assistance.

We gambled in the hotel's casino until our room was ready. We got to the room and were a little amazed. It did have a king-sized bed, but only enough room to walk around it. The closet was open to the room on one side of the bed and with clothes hanging bumped out into the room and over the bed. We opened the curtains to look at the river view and saw the roof's dome, which took up the entire view from the doorway. To see the river, I had to stand next to the window and look left.

Our complaints went without any positive response from staff. The manage, the loud woman from before, had gone home and wouldn't be back for 3 days. No management was on duty and staff had not been given the ability to creat a positive experience for guests. We left the property and stayed at Harrah's for the same price and a positive experience.

My experience with this hotel has been a complete nightmare and although the room and hotel itself is quite lovely, I would not recommend staying here.  After having car troubles on our way to Burning Man last week, we decided to stay a night in Reno.  We downloaded the app Hotels Tonight which offered a discounted room for $22 - incredible!! After returning I discovered that not only did the app charge my card, but the hotel had also fraudulently charged my card as well.  And because I wasn't able to handle it right away, I incurred fees from my bank that drained my account and has really set me back. Getting in touch with management to get this resolved has been quite a headache.

The valet makes you wait fifteen minutes to park your car.
The front desk people have no interest in giving service.
The rooms are small and chesp.
The house wines are horrible. The food service is poor. The cocktail waitress dropped our drinks all over my group ...staining our clothes with red wine.
They eliminated most of the hours in happy hours.
The security guards are rude.
Why did these people open a casino?

Not impressed. We were passing through Reno and stayed here in a standard queen room. Our first impression was this: clean, inviting, but there was no bed skirt on the bed so the box spring was exposed. Tacky! We decided to shrug it off, though. Upon further inspection, we noticed that two of the four pillows on our bed had dirty pillowcases -- yuck -- and we called down for new pillowcases. Housekeeping did deliver those and two extra pillows promptly, which was a plus.

Then, to our horror, when my husband was in the shower, he found a long black hair stuck to the shower wall -- a sign that the shower walls had not been thoroughly cleaned. We were grossed out and quite disappointed at the cleanliness at this point, for sure.

The high points, though, were that the service was good, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room service food was pretty tasty, too, and was very reasonably priced!

TL;DR: Overall, we were disappointed in the cleanliness of this room  but we did have a few happy occurrences during our stay (such as the food and the staff) so overall not terribly impressed but not terribly disgusted, either.

The concierge who helped us check in was very friendly and accommodating.

Our room was a little small with a window that opened up onto a dirty roof area. Not the most pleasant scenery. I could have squeezed through the window and walked out there if I had wanted.

It was great having a fridge and large TV in the room.

Everything worked out well. I'm not a big fan of the casino there, though. I'd rather walk somewhere else.

Not bad for the price and location next to Harrah's.

I stayed at another hotel in Reno for the first night then left to check in at Siena. It came recommended by a couple ladies I met on the plane. The decor is modern and comfortable. It's right downtown and within walking distance of many places. Prices are extremely reasonable. I love my view of the river! This is just what I needed.

Last Friday, Me and some guys from work went to Sienna to play some craps. I can not believe how great the service was while we were there. Our server, Nancy, was on top of it. She had brought my drinks in no time flat and it was almost as though she could tell when I was ready for another one.

Siena Hotel caters to people like me.

I don't like smoke and I'm not a huge gambler. I would rather sit in my tub while my boyfriend goes to play a quick round of craps.

The rooms, or should I say the suite is the size of a small apartment.
*Steam room aka shower with 2 nozzles for full coverage.  
*Jacuzzi tub with jets and various massage settings to boot.
Oh yeah, and if you are wondering if 3 girls can fit in this tub, they do. Don't waste time trying to figure it out, it's not like you want to share your time in the tub.
Trust. After a long drive, this is the VIP of the room. Surrender to the lights and just let go.
*Vanity area is LONG. So long, you can accommodate the biggest of girl crews with all their hair and makeup needs.
Bonus points, toilet is sectioned off in its own private room.

The bed is comfy with plenty of pillows. 4 can fit in this bed, but I don't recommend that.  

Living room:
Sofa, TV, tables, it's a pretty basic setup.  Key word: spacious and roomy.

No covered parking, so get ready for heat when you come back to your car.
Location is ideal and close to the strip.  I understand that the Peppermill and Atlantis are the heavy hitters that dominate the hotel scene.  You want smaller, a place for your girl to chill out while you smoke a cigar with the boys, look no further than the Siena.

I stayed here Sept. 2-6, 2013.  The AAA rate was $44 Monday-Wednesday, but with all the taxes, it came out to $60.  Ouch!!  Rate on Thursday was $10 more.  

I didn't like the parking. There's a parking lot (no structure) across the street with big signs "parking lot is not monitored - park at your own risk".  I think they should invest in a security guard for parking.  They offer valet parking but I don't know if those cars are monitored.

Due to a fall and injury (my fault), my intended overnight stay was extended several days.  The front desk was accommodating and immediately rebooked me each morning upon request.

This is smaller than other hotel casinos, which was a blessing in my case as I had a sprained knee and didn't have to walk a mile just to get to the coffee shop.

I ate in the coffee shop, at Sushi Saga, and had room service.  I was pleased that the room service prices weren't that much higher than eating in the dining rooms.  All of the food was okay; nothing fantastic.

In the room, it was comfortable although the heat and a/c is outdated. You can only press buttons to high or low like in motel a/c window units; there really should be thermostats in each room.  

The bathroom was your standard shower/tub, toilet and sink. I will never understand why hotels put shiny, slippery marble-like floors in bathrooms. Dislike!

There are cards explaining that they don't change the bed sheets every day unless you request it.  I did request it after 3 nights and the maids were very pleasant and prompt about it.

The pool is outside on the 4th floor.  Although it was empty most of the time I went out there, the loudspeakers were blaring music.  Far too loud!  I noticed that on my last day, someone had finally turned down the volume.    I never visited the spa; every time I walked past, it was closed.

For the most part all employees I encountered were pleasant and willing to help.  I wouldn't be against staying here again.

I love the Siena Hotel although I have never stayed in the hotel. I have had the liberty of checking out a room there that was of nice size and over looked the Truckie River and had all the little extras that you in a place such as Reno. I play in the Casino there and always have a good time the staff is friendly and always helpful. To top it off s great burger joint too the new addition of JONNY ROCKETS everyone loves a good burger right and the shakes are good too. Overall I always love going to the Siena.

I love The Siena!!! So I have been here for just over 3yrs, and I didn't step foot into a casino until about 8 months ago! I lived in Vegas as a kid (in the 70's) so Casinos don't impress me to much! If you didn't work there or gamble or you weren't Wayne Newton...why go in? Anyways, before I know it 'm going to Siena a few nights a week. I'm not a gambler and I'm not Wayne Newton! When I come in to The Siena I am treated in such a way that I like hanging out there! I've got to give a shout out to Toafia!!! She's in the cage and she will make you feel like a high roller!!! Very friendly, professional, and really sweet! Thank you for being good at what you do!!!

Less than ideal for business trips.

Since this hotel is close to where I need to be for work, I thought it would have been convenient. Unfortunately, the distance was the only positive to be found.

While the wifi is included, it has weak or no signal in most of the hotel, and when it does connect, the speeds are too slow to get anything done.

The fitness center opens late in the morning. If you look forward to a morning workout, it's not possible at Siena unless you can get to work closer to 10am.  

The rooms get uncomfortably warm at night. This necessitates the use of their air conditioners. These old machines are very noisy and make it difficult to sleep.

If you look to solve the heat issue by opening a window, pray that your window hasn't been sealed shut, or that in the rare care your window does open, that it can be closed again with the shoddy crank that's been worn down to nothing.

If you're not traveling alone, skip the bathroom at night. The light fixture produces a loud, high-pitched squeal that could wake someone up. Besides, using the water will probably cause you to squeal on your own. The two temperatures available are "Hot Pocket Lava" and "I think I have frostbite."

You may also want to skip trying to get help with any of the above issues. Staff are underpaid and can't be bothered to help with your situation.

My daughter and I have stayed in the Siena twice. Once in December  (12/14) and again over Super bowl weekend. We were VERY impressed with our beautiful room, the fantastic food,  the friendly staff and the friendly blackjack dealers! The comps are better than a lot of casinos in Vegas, where I am from. Our play in December got us invited back for super bowl weekend, and WOW did they put out a spread at meal time!! Fantastic!  I have been back twice by myself and every time I am impressed! I have lived in Vegas for 10 years, and rarely get the personal service I get at the Siena.  I have NEVER had a  single problem  while staying there, and I am pretty fussy about my room and  being treated with respect.  I plan on making this my favorite casino in Reno.

Not a bad place to stay!


- Rooms are super comfortable with renovated beds, bathroom and TVs.  There is also a fridge for your leather steak left overs from Cal Neva :-)
- Service is pretty good too, as the lobby front desk people are super friendly.
- $5 table limits and nice cheap slots that will keep you happy all night
-  Comped $25 in food after playing for a little while on tables and such

- Table games have hours of operation and close down later in the evening.  I've never seen a casino close all games after 2 am on a Thursday!
- Rooms have an older ventilation unit that is really loud.
- Very limited eating options if you're stuck there over night too drunk (LOL) to wander over to Cal Neva to eat.  The only thing open late was the Coffee Shop which didn't really have an real food.
- The whole "play $250 on us" is a load of crap.  It requires you to come back in 48 hours to redeem your free play reimbursement.  You get half in 48 hours and half on your next visit.

I have stayed here before but it was about 7 years ago. Sad to say I will never come back here. I am a frequent traveler due to work so I experience a variety with hotel quality. This hotel by far is at the bottom. The room is half the size of a regular sized room. I fear for my toes in the middle of the night as the room is so small and is so cramped with furniture that it doesn't fit the space allowed.

I heard a dog barking out of control as I approached my room and was surprised to learn dogs are allowed (maybe??).  Could be an issue with anyone allergic to dogs or waste left behind from a dog left in a room for an expected period of time.  Felt like I was in a kennel even though I was several doors down from the dog.

Due to work commitments, I was not able to stop for dinner until around 9:30pm but found the one  "decent" restaurant closing and the other option a burger place. Not up to that. Due to the homeless people roaming through the parking lot, I didn't feel comfortable heading out on my own to find something outside of the hotel for dinner. Stuck with sub-par $30 take out dinner from the restaurant soon to close over a greasy burger. Not great.

Lesson learned, don't stay here to try to maximize work travel budget. Bed mattress is horrible as I only feel springs in my back, room is tiny and no options for late diners. Makes more sense to stay in a chain hotel with better standards and consistency. I was looking forward to something different over a chain but a Marriott or Hilton makes more sense over cost due to this.

You get what you pay for...

I've stayed here a few times. I like that it is smaller and easier to navigate. My favorite part is being on the river. You can get a room with a view of the river which is nice. I like to get out and walk downtown and this is right on the Riverwalk where there are many places to go. The Rotunda bar has happy hour from 4 - 8 with half price appetizers that are fresh and hot and tasty. Sometimes I bring a bottle of wine and the corkage is only $10.-

Came here for the first time spent $200 on the slots, and the cocktail waitress only brought 1 beer. And looked me in the eyes as I asked for another beer and ignored me. I wasn't the only person who noticed that. This place has nothing but snobby employees. Reminds me of new York in Vegas.

As a frequent traveler I've stayed in some really great hotels and some really crappy hotels.  The Siena measures up to what I would expect at a Holiday Inn.  Mediocre hotel in the 3 star category with basic amenities in the room, nothing super fancy, however, I give this place 4 stars because it was $50 a night!!!

For $50 a night, I was able to get Johnny Rockets room service.  It was invaluable!  The Siena has a free hotel shuttle (you must call to schedule pick up) free wifi and a super low resort fee ($9).  It's location is perfect for walking to Wingfield park and downtown and it's nestled along the Truckee River.

The coffee shop isn't that great. They have limited options and Folgers tasting coffee.  Instead, walk downtown to Java Jungle or even better, head to the Hub along the river.

Don't expect luxury.  Expect a decently clean room, great amenities, a seriously nice staff and a great location!

Okay so let me first start off saying I was super hesitant on staying here due to the negative reviews but we took the risk and booked our room. To our surprise we were pleasantly surprised! My husband and I have stayed in many hotels during out travels and this one is in the middle as far as quality.

We did not expect this hotel to be fancy or swanky ... it is what it is, a smaller, clean hotel with basic amenities. So if you are used to Peppermill/cosmopolitan (Vegas) type of hotel stear clear. Anyways back to my review.

Check in was fast and pleasant.  We checked in close to 715 PM so we decided to check out happy hour. 4 dollar drinks and half off apps. Basic drinks  nothing special food was just ok. We ordered a salad and chicken wings. Salad was yummy but the wings came out cold (well two of them) we didn't complain since it was the last two wings :/

The pool was nice we did not swim since it was 45 degrees during the day. I would like to check it out during the summer heat.

The casino it self was too small and not enough action for us. So a quick walk to other hotels to gamble is in order. One thing that sucked - was the fact that they would not change any of the channels to play a NBA game ... really?!?! Why just college football? My husband asked several employees but no floor employees had the remote control. Management lied and said it was blacked out ... but to our surprise when we got to the next hotel it was on. HMM not cool. (Minus one star for this)

Anywho.... stay here if you want a cute basic room and you don't mind a short walk to wage your monies!

Spent most of our evening in our room and decided to go downstairs to hit the slots and have a snack, only to come back to our room ready to hit the bed late at night and our room keys did not work! After a few attempts, we went to the front desk and they told us that there was a mix up and we were assigned a different room (while we were only gone for a couple of hours). They apologized, fixed the problem and we went on our merry way...not! The second set of room keys did not work and we had to call the front desk again so they could reset the key pad. We were left stranded outside our room until we waited for someone to arrive. So much for a "relaxing" stay.

I travel to Reno frequently for business and Siena is where I stay. It's small and you're not hit with an onslaught of casino games making your way from the parking lot to the registration desk. Diego, who was working night registration, was great and efficient. Bed is very comfortable. There's good coffee in the hotel and the best part is you're within quick walking distance of a bunch of good restaurants (like Campo). If you want a relaxing place to stay in town (workout room, pool and jacuzzi, too), this is your place.

Another one of those places we have been coming to over the last few years and I really have mixed feelings about it at this point.

The last time I was here was to attend the State Poetry Out Loud competition for High School Students throughout Nevada who were competing to represent Nevada at the National Competition in Washington DC. I am so thrilled that the Siena provided the venue for this event and provided the students with a first class experience. The ball room was professionally set up and was tan excellent setting for this event.

The lobby and entrance area have been updated and has a modern edge to it. The area outside the ballroom does not appear to have been updated since the major renovation a number of years ago and is looking a bit frayed at the edges.

The renovations in the casino area do not seem to be a huge improvement over the old space and it feel cramped and smokey even with the new lights and carpet.

I have always felt this was a place with a lot of potential, but that it has not quite hit it yet.

Hmmm . . . . where do I start.

First, I congratulate the decorating team for their attempt at "LA Glam" when decorating this place.  The elements are in the vein, but seem like the Home Goods edition rather than something high end.

Second: the parking lot, while free, doesn't feel all that safe to me.  Specifically when you have a daily/weekly/monthly place to "stay" across the street.  

Third: the amount of furniture in our room was obscene.  We had a king size bed, which is large to start.  Then there was an oversized chair/ottoman set in one corner which served virtually no use as you couldn't move it anywhere due to the size.  There was also a completely random--and also quite large--circular table on one side of the bed.  It was so large and out of place, you couldn't walk around it.  I managed to heave it and place it in front of the chair/ottoman so it was somewhat out of the way.  This, on it's own, reaks of amature hour decisions on decor.

Fourth: the in-house restaurant/bar was pretty nice and reasonably priced.  The food was solid, too.  Well done there.

Fifth: the staff was pleasant and accommodating.

I recon the redesign was an attempt for fancy, but the mark is severely missed.  If this can be adjusted, the killer pricing is worth staying here.

To begin with - please know that this review is driven through my bias dislike of casinos. As such, I can't say I was overly "smitten" with the Siena Hotel, Spa and Casino.

However, as hotel casinos go - the Siena is a very reasonable place to stay for a non-gambler, non-smoker, business traveler like myself. The staff were so kind and accommodating. The hotels central location makes it convenient for business and easy access to a few decent nearby restaurants. In addition, early morning runs (before the crushing heat arrives) along the Truckee river were great.

Would I stay at the Siena again? Probably not - as I would prefer a non-smoking, no gambling environment; but, it was a pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights while in town for a meeting.

Business travelers: two things - (1) ask for an upper floor (8 or 9) room on the river side of the hotel; and, (2) there is decent coffee at Java Jungle just around the block - but they are unpredictable in terms of their opening hours (advertised for 6 - but I was there at 730 am, and they were still not open).

We stayed in the corner suite for $180 on a Saturday night. These suites are huge, very well laid out, and have very nice decor. Engineer was a little slow bringing me new batteries but he was a nice guy nonetheless . Didn't gamble here , as we had a party to attend at another hotel. Would def stay here again for $180, but the normal weekend rate of $380 is a little to much.

We were attending a volleyball tournament in Reno and after many drives back and forth between my pop's house in Truckee and Reno we decided last minute to grab a room in Reno.  Because of the Volleyball tournament everyone was booked!!! I tried everywhere and even tried using Hotels.com/Expedia but no good deals.  We ended up booking the Sienna using AAA discount; we got a rate of $110.  Pretty good for last minute.

* Venue: We loved the décor of the Sienna, very classy and glamorous.  
* Casino: Like many hotels in Reno they have a small scale casino full of a few tables and many slot machines.  
* Food: Since we had not planned to stay in a hotel we had to make use of the in house restaurant for both late night eats and breakfast.  No complaints from my crew, we all remained stuffed and happy.
* View: Truckee River makes for a wonderful view!
* Location: Walking distance to lots of places downtown.

* Room size: No suites were available so we had a small room with one king and a roll out bed for 4 TALL people!
* Price: A bit pricey on the food menu

Overall we can't complain about our stay.  It was a great last minute choice!  Cheers!

Siena has a few nice restaurants and some interesting promotions, but doesn't offer any draws significant enough to encourage me to play there instead of other nearby casinos.

The Siena offers loss rebates up to $500 for the first 24 hours after signup, monthly loss rebates up to 25%, and they'll upgrade your card level based on a card you have at another Reno casino. Unfortunately, they only have four card levels, and the highest tier is "invite only."

The gaming area is small, just like the whole casino. They have a decent variety of games and the place is fairly clean and organized. Not much at Siena for sports bettors other than a small William Hill booth.

My main issue is that the Video Poker pay tables are terrible. Most games are 98% or less. If they want to draw local players, that just isn't good enough. Because very few players play well enough, Siena could attract people with 100% games. That's better than offering a difficult-to-win Tesla S giveaway.

Siena advertises that 50% of their games are 50% looser, but that doesn't matter much when the games are super tight to start. Unless they offer attractive VP, I don't see much reason to play. They have Ultimate X and such, but could benefit from adding Dream Card and Quick Quads, or just simple full pay Game Kings.

The hotel was $79 a night and the only reason we booked here was because they had a jacuzzi in the hotel.

When we came to check in and asked where the amenities are located we were told the Jacuzzi was out of service for the only two nights we were staying.

The room is ridiculously small. The shower was dirty and had a hair in the tub. Needless to say we will not be booking here again.

They do have an amazing steakhouse however called that has a view of the river. Amazing food horrible hostess.  We asked to be seated by the window where there was 4 open tables. The hostess told us no than the waiter told us yes and moved our settings (literally just wine glasses and utensils).

Casino isn't too bad. We won on the blackjack machines.  

So to sum this up. Visit the steakhouse and the casino but try and stay somewhere else for a better deal and better service.

I have been a frequent visitor to the Siena Casino for a few years now. Once they offered the promotion that they would upgrade my player status to  status similar to another casino, I gave it a try.  I have converted and now Siena is my primary place to hang out. Many, Many improvements have been made since I began going here.

Initially, DaVinci was still a restaurant  with high end prices and the food was pretty good. Their lobster bisque and boursin mushrooms  were heavenly.But then, they changed this restaurant. to  more gourmet burger-type place and much of the appeal was lost for me. I was thrilled when they re-opened the Whitewater Fine Dining establishment, still staffed by Lee- one of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. He's attentive, polite, ALWAYS has a smile and I can't recommend his professional and friendly attitude enough!  Every visit when he's working has been nothing short of a pleasant, relaxing and delicious experience.

The casino now has a couple other restaurants as well- Sushi Saga and Johnny Rockets. Johnny Rockets is like every other Johnny Rockets, but I'd give a 2.5 star rating out of 5 for this particular location. It can take a long time for someone to acknowledge someone waiting to be seated (as their sign indicates). I've ordered a number of meals and they end up being pretty pricey while not always being the item I ordered, as I had ordered it.  (Like stating NO ONIONS, and getting a nice healthy dose of them which made the burger inedible.)  The shakes are good, I recommend if you want a malt, you should probably emphasize it  a few times because that's something also that is hit or miss.

Sushi Saga I have only visited a couple times, but good lord, that food is fantastic! I am in love with the sesame chicken and I was able to get the Cashew Chicken made with the ingredients I wanted- which made the dish absolutely divine and addictive! The service here has been 100% of the time friendly and prompt and the food has always been hot, (when it's supposed to be), delicious and cooked quickly. They have   a pretty extensive sushi bar as well, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.

Weekly, I visit the "Lucky Long Bar" to see my favorite bartenders, watch football games on massive TV's and play my absolute favorite games. It never fails- when the bartenders see me coming, they have my drink all ready for me. It makes me happy because it's a great feeling to be recognized, acknowledged and remembered. I have yet to meet a single bartender or cocktail server that isn't above and beyond friendly, funny, personally uplifiting, positive and very good at making the drink you want, just as you want it. I have not hit any major jackpots since they expanded the bar, but I have seen others have some lucky streaks. Rob,Cesar (gone :( ) Eric, Dennis, Brian, Chris, Jeanine, Dave and the gorgeous girl who dressed up like Poison Ivy  couple years back for Halloween are always friendly and inviting.

For loyal players, they have frequent drawings and promotions, and it's a ton of fun being called for whatever the promo is. And it's even better when they don't call the same name over and over. :)

I've stayed in the hotel a few times. My first room was in fantastic shape- not dirty, filthy, it was clean, well appointed, clean towels and awesome conditioner.

The hotel check in staff were completely professional, accommodating and inviting! Alecia was so helpful and was able to put me exactly where I needed to be. The VIP hosts- Richard and Bob were unbelievably helpful! It's a major mood  improvement when the rest of your world is falling apart, but with a little help from the VIP hosts are powerful enough to erase the tough times, or at least give a chance to relax.

I saved the best for last- Richard- the new Food and Beverage manager is now a frequent presence at the restaurant and provided us Chicago fans with the most amazing deep dish pizza that was SO Good that it completely distracted us from the ugly loss the Bears suffered that night. He has always been very friendly to me, even introducing himself when I went to have dinner. I'm incredibly pleased, impressed and grateful that the Siena hired this man as the Food and Beverage head because, not only does he have a contagious and pleasant attitude, but he was welcoming and so helpful!!! Hiring this man was a brilliant idea because I've never seen a manager or supervisor-EVER- at any restaurant, just to introduce themselves and assist, instead of having to answer to an unhappy diner. I'm really glad you brought him on board!

I've really debated over writing this review since i'am a local and I appreciate new  local businesses.  I feel this is an accurate depiction of the hotel and our stay.

Our destination for a "staycation".  It is in decent location since we wanted to attend an Aces game and it is within walking distance to the ballpark. We thought being one of the newer hotels in town it would be super quiet and have nice amenities.  

    The check in process took longer than expected, but then were given our keys to a room on the eighth floor overlooking the Truckee River. We wanted to enjoy the sounds of the river so we decided to crank open the window a bit. (Unfortunately once getting the window opened we found out the the lever to crank the window closed was broken.  It took two people to close the window and get it latched.)

    The room was loud.  You could hear sounds from the street and people running down the hall and doors slamming. (I travel a ton for business and this was one of the noisiest experiences i've had.)

    The AC is not controlled by a thermostat, but by a dial.  We never could get the room the perfect temperature.  It was either stuffy or a meat locker.

    On the up side - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.  Having Johnny Rockets downstairs to grab a quick bite was convenient.

This place is very pleasant, has excellent accommodations , wonderful view of the Truckee River, great choice of food, and several wonderful bars! I was greeted upon our arrival by a lovely young lady at the the bar name Denise who gave us some wonderful suggestions of places to visit and activities to engage in while on our vacation.

I think everyone here is A-MAZING! Tim, one of the games manager, was so nice and had great attention to customer service. Only problem...  They need to update their plug situation in the rooms and add thermostats. Hopefully that's in the works!

Wasn't bad for the price ($50), fairly clean, comfortable.  However, our room was directly against the elevators and was extremely noisy all night long.  Took us awhile to even figure out what the noise was - thought it was construction.  Everyone was friendly, and for the price it was worth it, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, I'd just be sure to ask the location of my room :)

Nice area, a couple blocks from main strip but very close to a cute little shopping & restaurant area - clean, bright, very nice.

My husband and I booked a room for a staycation / post wedding retreat, seeing family and friends were staying at our house. At first we really liked our room, but when we tried to call room service we noticed that the  phone was broken, it had no sound.

After finding  the second phone in our room we did manage to get room service from Johnny Rockets, it took us 6 attempts to actually get the restaurant on the phone. The room service was very prompt after we FINALLY got someone on the phone, the food was good.

Another huge issue for me was their T.v. Selection, we missed Walking Dead, because AMC is not one of their channels,  I know not a huge deal, but very annoying when added to the other problems. The WIFI was pretty good for a hotel.

The bed was not properly made, they used a top sheet as the bottom sheet. I realize that high end sheets  aren't fitted,which is great when the person making the bed knows how to do a hospital corner. However when they don't it's basically like sleeping in a sheet death trap.  

The thing that got me, the reason for the bad review was the MOLDY SHOWER, I sincerely don't understand how something with such crappy water pressure can even develop mold, but it happened. I'm glad I'm local and was able to go home and shower.

Lastly check out. The man who checked us out was very reluctant to let us look at the bill, he kept trying to just get my husband to sign and pay the extra charges. We found outgoing phone charges on our bill we NEVER made an outgoing call. They also refused to do anything about the shower or the phone.

I'm a local but I have out of state guests regularly. Some of them stay in hotels. I will not being recommending the Siena. I was charged 150 dollars for mold and broken appliances.

Booked our room on their wesite about a week prior to our trip. They had a better deal than priceline did, so I got a great deal on a room. Arriving at the hotel my husband and I were very impressed with the decor and the cleanliness of the lobby. Took a minute for the concierge to acknowledge us, but she was great and got us checked in very quickly. Gave us a couple  complimentary bottles of water and off we went. We needed to use our card key to get to our floor, made us feel somewhat special and important, lol. Our room was on the 7th floor and we had a beautiful view of the river!! The bed was sooo comfy and the pillows, oh gosh, those pillows were amazing!! The room was very clean and spacious. The robes available in the room was a nice touch. Will definitely stay here again. Within walking distance to everything and has a nice quiet casino, we loved it!!!

Clean non siena Tuscan like modern rooms, if you want an Italian Vegas hotel go to Peppermill.
Decent though spongy beds.

Smoke fills the entire ground floor gambling area.
Still haven't found in Reno a properly ventilated gambling hall like in Vegas.

Small hotel compared with others and limited choices for food mainly due to its size.

would not stay here again! next to sleazy apartments with the parking lot in between the hotel & sleazy apartments. very small casino with some guy with a bad attitude at the concierge desk. i think i saw a review mention it was the size of motel 8. it's not even that big and our view is of the rooftop with all of the mechanics on the roof, oh, that & the sleazy apartments.

i had called the hotel directly as the rate for a king was $90 on line, but the rate i was quoted was $110. after a loooonnng time on the phone & asking for a manager, i lost the call. at check in, the room was $100. stay at the silver legacy. way better rooms & facilites!!!

This is a beautiful hotel with a cute little casino staffed by great employees. Those who deserve special recognition are:

Taylor: He drove us to the airport and couldn't have been more polite and helpful if he tried. His customer service skills are off the chart. I

In the casino there was Rob, Mary Pat, Donie and Peggy but ESPECIALLY Peggy. Also the cocktail waitresses are crazy fast.

IF I ever stay at the Siena Hotel Spa Casino in Reno again it will be because of employees like Taylor, Peggy and Rob.
