I was so impressed with this little gem. Our friend had a medical emergency and we drove her family from San Francisco to Reno, arriving at 1:30 AM with nowhere to stay. Circus Circus (coupon for $70.00 off from hospital) offered us the $280.00 a night exec suite...uuhm no, The Peppermill offered $260.00 ....no again.

We drove down the street and found this little outpost of hospitality, not much to look at, didn't expect much from the room's at $60.00 (sixty) a night, Saturday night. *Weekend Rate* Weekday rate is cheaper.

The guy at the front desk was NICE!!! and not that fake crap nice either.

The rooms were huge, comfy bed's, lots of pillows, extra blankets, extra towels, shampoo, soap, coffee, alarm clock, comfy chairs. And QUIET. Yes it was quiet and very peaceful, air and heat were quite.

Cardboard construction. Hear next door talk, watch tv, take shower. Cheap single pane window, means cold and noisy night. Cars driving by kept me awake. people walking upstairs disturbing. Didn't get much sleep.  Waste of money. Not worth the $60 I spent. $40 more would of got ne a cleaner quieter hotel. Those place is run down. Think motel6 or worse.

The motel is poorly maintained and had the cheapest uncomfortable pillows I've ever slept on. Not worth the 60 dollar price.

This was the first time I have ever gotten the true triple A discount at a motel, instead of saying "the discount is already worked into the lowest price" they gave me 10% off, as a Jewish dude that means a lot to me.

We were told they had keys, as orthodox Jews we cannot use electricity on the sabbath and the hotel staff were more then willing to hold out key and open up our door for us.

Continental breakfast, large clean rooms, comfy beds and a refrigerator make this a great place to stay close to chabad and downtown Reno.

Stay somewhere else! We stayed here as a last minute decision because every other hotel was booked & regret it. Hard mattress, loud neighbors , old, lots of street noise. Room 107 is next to ice machine & every time it was used we heard it.

No problems to report. Room and bed were clean, shower and toilet were fine, and I saved 400 bucks over three nights here instead of staying at the casinos that are a five minute walk from this place. Room was very quiet.  Good staff and friendly.

Gross, gross, gross. This place would get 0 stars, if I could. Dirty, smelled terrible, bad service. Just an all around bad experience. Will NOT be staying here again.

Everything was O.K. here for the price,  BUT !!!!!   Speaking of butts....  Mine was too big for the dinky little pre-school kindergarten toilet found in our room at the Vagabond Inn.   They seem to be emerging more and more in every budget motel on the horizon.  So, that being said,  all these motels should advertise like this:  "Short people Friendly"  so tall people like me can avoid them right up front.  I swear to God,  what has happened to America that we had to shrink the toilet bowls??

This inn is my crash-for-the-night place when I visit one of the ski resorts in North Lake Tahoe. It's cheap and has vacancies mostly all the time and is about 45 minutes away from the ski resorts of North Lake Tahoe. There are definitely nicer places to stay in Reno, but if you don't care about anything other than crashing for the night, 70 odd bucks for a room with 2 queen beds isn't a bad deal at all!

Hi,

For this 4thOfJuly I went to RENO.It was very late planned trip, So i just booked a hotel randomly even ratings were not great.

I just paid $60 for 2 Bed room and its clean and good.I wont say great. But its good.all facilities are available,Receptionist is helpful,No Issues in hot water,A/C etc.

They offer Free Breakfast but its just Okay. But I got surprised that this good hotel for $60.And its nearer to lots of Restaurants and nice casinos Pepper Mill and Atlanta.

This place gets one star from me only because they processed my refund without trouble once I saw the room. I have stayed in many roadside motels, and was not expecting anything fancy, but I guess I should have taken a hint from the front desk lady's pepper spray or the home-bum drinking beer from a 7-11 cup in the lobby... The room was straight nasty; hair in the sink, wax and fluid on the tv table, and so on. If you are looking for a place to take a cheap hooker, you might have found your spot.

I fell suddenly ill early in the morning on my way out to Burning Man this year.  I booked a room here through one of the aggregate websites (not sure if I can name names) at 9:30am; when we arrived at 10, the front desk not only had our booking already, but LET US CHECK INTO THE ROOM.  It's the most expensive nap I've ever taken, but four hours and two showers later, my husband and I were able to get back on the road.

Ok front desk person was nice.  After that, .  Old furniture, curtains etc. smells bad.
What really was bad was the mattress. It was a 2 inch foam mattress on the box spring!!   Come on Vagabond corporate.  U are selling a good night sleep.   A 2 inch foam mattress ??  Uff da

How to have a 5 star experience at Vagabond Inn:

1. Check in at night when it's dark. This way you won't notice that your room is not perfectly clean.

2. Go out, gamble and drink. This way you will be able to fall asleep no matter what kind of mattress you got. (Ours happened to be a very nice king size one)

3. Bring air freshener. Remind yourself you are in a smoking state and all the rooms even if "smoke free" will not smell fresh.

Life hacks. You're welcome.

DON'T STAY HERE EVER!!!! So when i checked in to my room (#234) the lady at the front was OK, not the friendliest. i went into my room and there was this nasty musty odor. and i thought to myself hmm i said a non-smoking room. so i sprayed some smell good and thought okay i will let it go this place is just nasty. then like all people do i sat on the bed and to my surprise its not even a mattress its like a 5 inch thick mat thing so uncomfortable! then i tried to log into the Wi-Fi and it would not work so i called the front to ask her and she was so rude i had to hang up before i said somethings that were not going to be so nice. so i got ready to leave to meet my family and when i went outside downstairs all of the sudden the Wi-Fi started working and i thought hmm that's strange it only works outside downstairs and not in my room that's ridiculous well i will try again when i come back so a couple hours later i came back and restarted my phone to see if the connection would work and nope it still didn't work. so then i thought oh well i will watch TV maybe, boy does the TVs suck there was so many lines going through it you could even see the show and the only channels that worked were the Spanish channels, and you couldn't pull the TV out to watch it from the bed cause they have screwed it down.... so that was pointless. so the next morning i got up to take a shower and the shower head is so dirty and nasty i didn't even want to take a shower but i had no other choice i had to get ready. then the breakfast they offered was some old bread, old looking danishes and not even sure what was in the other basket.. all in all i am so disappointed with this place and these rooms and more upset that i saved my money to stay there for the wedding and i got crap in return. i work really hard for my money and i am a mother of 2 little children i deserve to get my moneys worth. and your hotel did not do that.

This hotel is horrible. Room (160) smelled oppressively dirty and dusty, like an old dog had slept in there for months without being let out. This hotel is "pet friendly" but not human friendly. It is not within walking distance of a casino, unless you were a gambling addict with a suspended license. Save yourself and avoid this place. Vagabond inn is an apt name. The barking dog next door that kept us awake from 4 am to 8 am was par for the course.

I got the weekly rate to stay here and I'll be renewing it i am  in Reno for a few short weeks and the last place I stayed at was a tragic nightmare much happier now that I found this place . The desk staff and manager Ali are great people so far on all my encounters I have been here for a week the location is great to most stuff around Reno from what I have found a decent laundromat a few blocks away and plenty of food selections within three or four blocks it is also central to the peppermill and Atlantis less then a block to each if you like gambling . The rooms could stand to be renovated as they are showing signs of wear but still have some life left in them what more could you expect for the price tho ? Over all I am content with my stay here and would recommend to anyone in need of a cheap room .
