This place is great. I had two rooms here for the same long weekend (one with parents, one with boyfriend) and it was a delightful experience. As someone who was unfamiliar with NYC completelty, the location was perfect and accessible to everything. Even though we were not expecting the Hilton, we got Hilton service. The housekeeping was phenomenal (my dad was sick and she changed the sheets for him everyday as well as lysol'd the room), the concierge was VERY helpful in assisting us and others that we saw with dinner plans (not easy to handle the whole , "whats good around here?" question without saying, "it's NYC stupid can you be more specific?")..When we walked into brunch two minutes before closing they opened the place right up for us and did not seem perturbed at all. Most importanty, I accidentally left something of HUGE sentimental value there (worth probably $3.00) and Joanna at Security personally went up to my room and retreived it AND had it shipped overnight for me. She did not for one second make me feel as though I was a burden. THAT is impressive.

Simply: the staff was incredibly nice & welcoming, the room is clean & large.  It's a great location and a great price for the area.  I would definitely stay again.

This hotel is in a great location. I'd much rather stay in this area then the crazy Times Sq. strip. The rooms were very spacious and the rate was reasonable on the weekend. They recently did a redo and everything was fresh and contemporary. Front desk service was great, bellstand and concierge were awesome. Definitely got a clean room and great service as Marriott is know for.

Great location. It's very convenient to walk to Central Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center and several museums. An entrance to a train that will take you to the south part of Manhattan is on the same block. The staff is very friendly, and there are also many great restaurants nearby.

I walked in, and was greeted by the front desk clerk. I was happy to be there, but a little disappointed by the lobby which reminded me of a lower class hotel. But other than that, my room was great and the hotel staff was very attentive! I'd definitely come back here. The room was very clean and I had no complaints.

Best features - huge rooms, near subway, near lots of restaurants, friendly staff, clean rooms, great staff
Downsides - Onsite restaurant serves only breakfast
Would recommend and stay again!  One of my fave places to stay in Manhattan.

The staff was excellent, they were friendly every time I asked questions on how to get places using subway or taxis location was great easy to get to the subway and short walk to Times Square. The room was a bit small (avg for Manhattan) , but I was not in Manhattan to stay in my room, and the bed was very comfortable, I was able to crash after walking all day.

Great location if you want to be away from Times Square, which we did. Size of room is amazing for the price.
    So the start was perfect.
Now, the truth of the hotel.
Is an older property - room, linens, floor were all not clean.
HVAC system must be an old system because on March 31 with the outside temp at 50, we could not cool the room - heat only and it was hot.
Also, we were on the 30th floor and the windows are not sound proof - very noisy to add to the uncomfortable temperature in the room.
Now, this is a courtyard, so no room service - I get it. But they have NO fresh market or any other food or beverage for sale - cmon Courtyard this is what you do best.
I stay at Marriott properties all of the time - And I would say you get what you pay for here - there is a reason the price is lower than all other Marriotts in the city.
    Not a nice experience here.

I gotta say, this place isn't so bad! I stayed at the Courtyard for a full month, and it was more than comfortable. The room was nicely sized and well appointed for a standard hotel (not at all like the closet I had to stay in at the W).

The halls and lobby are kept clean and requests are met very quickly. For instance, I asked for a fridge for my room and they were knocking at my door 10 minutes later. They helped me out with a ginormous package I received and courteously brought it up to my room.

My only real gripe is that their breakfast buffet is pretty mediocre and costs something like $20 per person. C'mon. Throw a croissant at me and call it free continental breakfast! Also - the coffee at the restaurant is horrible.

Location is perfect for all of your sightseeing needs as well. It's also really close to work for me - gotta love that.

Having gone to New York multiple times, I found that you would sacrifice room size, service, location (usually all three) if you were looking to stay for under $250 a night.

I found this great hotel through American Express travel and used my points to book it.  It is located in Midtown East and is near everything you would want to be.  It was within 20 minutes walking distance of Times Square, 10 minutes to Rockafeller Center, 10 minutes to MOMA, 15 minutes to Central Park, and a good 30 minute stroll to the Met.

If walking is not your thing, right outside the hotel (literally about 15 yards) is the subway entrance taking you to the E, V, and 6 lines.

The staff was more than helpful giving us suggestions for restaurants and accomodated us with class and elegance also assisting us on our trip back to the airport.

The room was SPACIOUS.  New York is known for having closet sized rooms but I felt like I was at a hotel in Kansas.  The room had a king sized bed, full bathroom, TV, computer desk, and a loveseat couch.  Room service cleaned up very nicely so we would return to a clean room every night.

It is hard to contact the front desk from the phone as it reroutes you to all sorts of places.  They also don't really provide room service but they do have a to-the-door delivery service from a nearby Outback Steakhouse.

Definately my choice for a hotel in the pricy, clustered mess we love...Manhattan.

Very nice hotel in midtown. I got a great, clean, spacious room with a modern setup and free wifi (still fairly rare in NYC). Nice tv, nice amenities, and a great shower. The best part about it is the location though....walking distance to many great restaurants in Midtown.

This was a great hotel to stay at for the price.  I would definitely stay here again.  My hubby and I booked it and got a great price using our AAA card...$125 per night...couldn't beat that for sure in Manhattan.

    Pro's
Large rooms, even includes a sofa bed!
    Minimal noise
    Comfy clean bed
    Professional and helpful staff
Shower water pressure better than most hotels

    Con's
    No late night room service
Not the fanciest or most elegant hotel

We had a fantastic stay here, just wonderful. We had room service everyday. The room was clean and very spacious, and it was close to a lot of restaurants and places and the subway. We were on the 27th floor and could not hear any street noise. The staff here is friendly. I also like the fact that they have a computer in the lobby for us to check our flights. I am not sure if there was wi-fi because we weren't in our room for long. I would highly recommend and plan on staying here when I am next in NYC.

I echo Mike G.  I have yet to stay in a Marriott and be disappointed, though.

Huge, nicely appointed rooms for NYC.  No climbing over the bed to get out of the bathroom.  Very convenient location and the front desk staff was polite.  Fruit in the lobby in the am.

    Let's make this simple...
What do people REALLY want to know when searching for a room in Manhattan?

-The location is great... central location and pretty damn convenient - it's across from the Subway and very close walking distance to Esse Bagel (only the best bagel shop in the world!)
    - The hotel is clean.  Yippee for no bed bugs!
    - The rooms are good sized and the bathrooms are roomy enough for two ladies to get ready comfortably.  (This is a GREAT and uncommon thing for NYV hotel rooms!)
    - The front desk, concierge and maid service were all on point.  Not overly warm and fuzzy, but gave you service with a smile.
    - They have gym - it's small, but gets the job done with treadmills and ellipticals.
    - They have room service, but why order hotel food when you're in NY?

Accommodations beyond this are simply unnecessary fluffer.  If you're looking for more then shame on you!  You're in Manhattan - what are you doing spending that much time in a hotel anyways?!!

Decent iteration of a typical chain motel. Room was clean and comfortable but faced 3rd Avenue. As with other reviewers, we liked the place for its location and ease of access to this corner of Manhattan. Great bagel place on the opposite side of the street and down a block and, yes, Duane Reade is next door.

All in all, decent place to stay but not a hotel I would crave to stay in again.

WOW, no one has reviewed this place yet? Amazing...maybe I shouldn't and keep it a secret! What a great find in NYC! This place has fantastic rooms that are VERY large for NYC standards and it is amazing how quiet it is here. The views are incredible too. You would think that you are all along in this place and it is almost full!

We wanted to stay in this area as everyone says the neighborhood is great and they are CORRECT! Restaurants are everywhere and already have found some really good ones...If you are looking for a place to stay in NYC and do NOT want the typical tourist stuff and really want to experience NYC and not your hotel this is the place.

Everything in this place is new! You will be impressed.....very affordable too....

We stayed at this hotel Saturday and Sunday nights during Labor Day weekend and booked it via Priceline's Name Your Own Price. The hotel website said valet parking was $45/day, so we opted to skip that and park in a garage three blocks away for $30/day instead. The hotel is in a great, central location with the subway, shopping, dining, drinking, and sightseeing only steps away!

Even though we arrived an hour before the 3 pm check-in, we were able to check-in and go right up to our room. We were shocked on how spacious our room was (it even included a loveseat and table) considering we were in NYC where hotel rooms are known to run on the smaller side. The bed was comfortable to me, but I appreciate a firmer mattress. I'm not sure my husband was in love with the bed, but he still slept fine both nights so it was apparently not that big of a deal! I also appreciated the friendly staff, the fact we never had to wait for an elevator, and how quiet the hotel was.

All and all, we had a great stay and I'd definitely recommend staying here especially for those who just want a basic hotel in the heart of the NYC action.

I got a spacious room, great view, king-sized bed, loveseat and coffee table, nice sized desk, and towels piled to the ceiling in the bathroom. Staff was the friendliest I've ever encountered at a hotel.

The location is fantastic. The E, V, and 6 lines are steps from the entrance. Duane Reade is right next door. Plenty of food and shopping within easy walking distance.

What more could you ask for?

Oh, that's right. Room service. The best they can offer is delivery from...Outback? Eh well, you can't win 'em all.

Great choice for business or leisure travelers.  Spacious rooms, free internet, flat screen LG TV with HD channels, and moments away from all that NYC has to offer!

All of the staff were extremely friendly, which helped me to enjoy my stay that much more!

Cons:  bathrooms need updating (they were quite dingy!), $48 per night for parking.  Their only delivery option for room service is Outback Steakhouse (???), but thankfully there are tons of great places to eat all around the hotel.

Stayed here for a week on a solo visit to Manhattan. Simply put, it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff was terrific -- friendly, helpful and made me feel very much at home. Rooms were good -- spacious and clean, with everything one could want, including a mini-fridge and free wi-fi. Location cannot be beat, with the E, V and 6 lines right outside the front door, a 24-hour Duane Reade next door, and an easy-to-grab-a-cab spot. Lots of great restaurants and other necessary businesses (like my bank) within spitting distance. No room service, save for a contract with Outback, but a great breakfast buffet option made up for that. Only minor complaint was the price of valet parking (a couple hour visit cost $24)

This is now the only place I'll be staying when visiting the city.

This hotel is conviently located on 53rd and 3rd.  I would generally not review hotels, but this location and the price, in comparison to others in the area is defintely worth keeping an eye on.  The room was spacious with two queen beds and the staff was there to help in any way they could.

    Definitely worth coming back to.

Was in Manhattan for a business meeting and needed a hotel within walking distance to my customer's offices.

This Courtyard is very atypical of most. A corner room, on a high floor was offered. I would agree with previous reviews that the room was very large, for Manhattan business hotel standards. Lots of windows offered good sunlight into the room. The desk, connections, lighting and WiFi made pre-meeting business preparations a snap.

As the Courtyard is a large hotel, there were no issues in waiting for the lifts to come to my floor and concierge service was very helpful.

A great choice for the east side.

Just finished up a 7-day vacation with a family of 5.  The rooms were incredibly spacious by NY standards.  We fit all of us in one room with 2 queen sized beds and a couch pull out.  I really have not a single bad thing to say here!  The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful.  The rooms were clean and as quiet as you can get in NY.  The hotel is centrally located near multiple subway stops (which we used daily).  Great hotel and staff.  Was reasonably priced (and I shopped extensively for a good deal).  Highly recommend for personal and business travel.

We stayed here for 3 nights with three teenagers.  The double queen room was SPOTLESS upon arrival, they arranged for early check in , were SUPER friendly and helpful. When we left, all three of the girls commented how fun and friendly everyone there was. We were a short walk from the theater, Bloomingdales, the subway (1 block) and Rock Center. I was so pleased to find somewhere to accommodate a family in one room without spending a house payment!

Yea paying  ~$500. per night for a Courtyard sounds nutz but u r in NYC.
If you have business in the area this is a great locale. Close to the transit, great restaurants, and shopping.

Typical Courtyard rooms but on the higher floors you get great views. The LG HD TV was a nice feature as well. Fitness and business centers were well equipped... Concierge was very helpful pointing me toward a great Italian and Asian restaurant. For a good Guinness pour and casual dining the Pig n Whistle is close by too....

Friendly front desk, doorman was always present, concierge at this hotel as well. The room was clean and nice and the bathroom was nice - cold and no ventilation - but fine. Large Rooms in the sky! Great view of Manhattan.

The mister and I stayed here and got a room on the 30th floor. To my surprise, this room is large for NYC standards. Heck, this room is bigger than the studio apartments in the city! The pros are it's clean and modern, great location at 3rd Ave and 53rd, near CVS, Barnes and noble, shopping at Lexington Ave, subway station, and walking distance to restaurants. Free WI-FI and a safe in the room. Security is present at the lobby, show your key card before getting into elevator. Love that this hotel is low key and quiet. Would definetly stay here again.

    What a great NYC hotel!

I had originally booked the Time Square Marquis location, but I'm glad that we switched. That area was just too crowded for us But this location was perfect! We were able to hop on and off of the subway at all hours of the night, and always end up at most 1 block away. And you're in a great central location to walk over to Time Square and restaurants or go see the sites like the Empire State Building, Rockefellar Center, the NY Public Library, etc.

The rooms were a great size, with a couch that converted to an extra bed. Love that the mini-fridge comes standard and there's free WiFi, a must for hotels nowadays! This sounds silly, but the showers always had great water pressure, you never know with some hotels, though. And while we didn't use the concierge, the hotel staff was always extremely friendly.

When we were checking out the bellhop inquired to make sure we knew the right way back to Newark airport. He wanted to make sure we wouldn't get ripped off by taking a taxi. What a nice guy.

While there are so many other great cities to hit up, and we don't know if we'll be back in NYC for awhile, if and when I do come back to this part of the country, we'll be staying at this hotel!

P/S - great bagel place across the street (Ess-a-bagel) and awesome sushi joint on 2nd and 49th

The rundown: incredibly convenient, friendly service, nice rooms, and the price is right!

I came to New York for my friend's wedding, and we needed to find a hotel that could comfortably accommodate the 5 of us, and I don't think we could have picked a better place. We got here straight from the airport by taking the E line and getting off at 53rd and Lexington; if you take the correct exit you'll walk out right outside of the hotel. Since we were there 7 in the morning, we had to check in our luggage so that we could go out for the day, and they were more than happy to do so. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We got a room with two queen beds and sofabed for around $400 a night, and it was roomier than we had expected. The rooms were very clean and well made, and I have to give the staff praise because we created quite a mess and they made our room as good as new. Also, if you forgot something for your trip, never fear, Duane Reade is literally right next door!

This hotel isn't in the most touristy location such as Times Square, but since it's so close to two different subway stops, there's no where you can't go! We took the 6 and E just about everywhere, and since taxis are so easy to come by, we never had an issue going anywhere even when we got too lazy to figure out the subway. If you come back late, have your key card prepared because that'll be the only way you can get through the entrance of the hotel.

Loved my stay here, would gladly come back during my next visit.

This particular Courtyard Marriott and I go waaaay back.  This hotel was part of my first new york experience   - I can still remember coming back from a walk down lexington avenue where I saw the Chrysler Building and Grand Central Terminal for the first time ever...in person.  "Oh how I love New York!" I exclaimed, as I flopped down on the super comfortable and soft bed.

Since then we have shared many memories together since it became my staple hotel over the 6 years I have been traveling to NY.  One time, I came in to find my usual room tarnished by a leak in the closet. The front desk quickly whisked me away and gave me free breakfast to help make up for the inconvenience.  Another time I was upgraded to a room with a fantastic view of 3rd ave.  As we grew together, I learned more about this Courtyard - most notably, there is no 13th floor.  And taking the stairs to the ground level will have you walking through a hospital.

Over the years, Courtyard Midtown East has proven to be a clean, friendly, convenient, and stable lodging.  With a 24hr Duane Reade located just next door, you know you have all your needs covered.  Especially since the hotel offers mini-refridgerators - this comes in handy if you are on a budget.  If you are a MTA fan, there is a station just steps away that offers convenient access to both Penn Station & Grand Central.  And the nightlife can't be beat a block over on 2nd ave - endless options!

As for hotels in NYC go - this is the most basic, no frills type of hotel.  They have a restaurant but don't really provide room service.  You can always have food delivered though.  The fitness center is adequate and the staff is super friendly, and offers cookies throughout the day to weary travelers.   But really, if your in NY, you shouldn't be hanging out at the hotel. :)

A very handy Duane Reade (or something like that) at the street level of this hotel.  Quick and convenient to pick up a snack or beverage from there.

As far as the rooms go, basic Marriott Courtyard.  Nice view of the city, but nothing spectacular as the building lacks the height to get a proper view.  Lots of construction inside the hotel when I was here, but that is something temporary you may not have to deal with.

Courtyard is the only hotel I've stayed at in NYC (I'm from here). The rooms are spacious and clean and the front desk is friendly. There is no breakfast at the hotel but there's a nice place right around the corner where you can get a good breakfast for a decent price. The subway and the bus is nearby and if you are a tourist, getting to sites are easy. Paid ~$500 for a weekend not including all those pesky taxes. I think it was worth it.

It was great, clean, quiet and very accommodating. We booked 3 rooms together  and they were side by side. We didn't arrive at the same time and probably should have made it a point to check in all together. The smaller family was given the larger room and the larger family squeezed into the smaller room. Oh well, at least like I said they put us all side by side. We were all settled for the night when we checked out the rooms and realized so we didn't say anything. I would stay there again for sure.

This hotel is a great hotel for a weekend getaway.

    Its cheap and easy.

Close to public trans, walking distance to a lot of things, rooms big.

We had a couple of hiccups while we were here.  The temp outside was 95plus.  When we checked in our room was 83 with the air off.  We kicked it down to 65, the lowest it would go and went out sightseeing/shopping.  Unfortunately when we returned the air still had not cooled down the room.  It was broke.  We had to change rooms at 11PM at night.  The staff was helpful, however, it was just annoying

Other than that, I would stay here again.  The beds were standard, the rooms were standard.  Nothing extensive, but fine for the weekend.  Its a no frills hotel that is perfect for the price.

Great value, great price, CLEAN room, nice safe area, very close to the train stations and great service. I booked this hotel for $150 a night, which is a great price when staying in the City. Not in Brooklyn, not in Jersey, but right in Manhattan. Plus it wasn't in the tourist areas, so it wasn't ridiculously loud and busy at night and a trip to the tourist NYC was only a short walk to the train station which was on the same block as the hotel. There were plenty of eateries nearby and a nice little vibe to the surrounding neighborhood.

I booked the 3 of us in a room on the 29th floor with a great view and a comfy huge bed and a comfy couch.

Our cleaning lady was really cool when we asked to change the sheets. Very friendly and when we had left for the day she had surprised us by putting our souvenir photo up on the shelf by the other decor. Lolz.

Highly recommended. Next time I head to the City, I'll definitely stay here again.

31st Floor room with a view and some peace and quiet.  Well, as quiet as you'll get in NY that is.  Clean and spacious rooms?  Yes, thank you.

Every employee there was completely hospitable and courteous.  I didn't feel like I was at a typical Courtyard Marriott, which was nice.  Car parking is about $48/day and they do ask that you call 30 min in advance to get your car out...that's the only downside.

I would def stay here again because it is literally 1 block away from the metro (green line, which takes you downtown and to all the touristy/mainstream NY spots) and is a very convenient location in Midtown.  Thanks Courtyard!

Nice, big rooms with comfortable beds and minifridges.  Free wi-fi, which is crucial.  New flatscreen tv, and a convenient location in Midtown close to the subway, and to the Duane Reade next door (always good to have a pharmacy close by a hotel!), as well as to some nice clothing stores on Lexington Ave!

Apparently the complimentary breakfast (which I didn't get a chance to try myself) was fairly minimal, and they wouldn't let us check in at all early, but they did let me stay a little past checkout time-- which was really essential since I had an evening international flight.  Definitely a  good choice for a Manhattan hotel!

Great spacious rooms and updated hotel but not excited that the bistro area isn't open for dinner. Would have been nice to be able to grab dinner right downstairs and enjoy the lounge area and view. Other than that it was a nice spot.

Last weekend, me and 4 of my friends went to NYC for my friend's bachelorette party. Since we had a total of 5 people, we had a lot of trouble finding a moderately priced hotel room that could accommodate all of us. We stumbled upon the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown East and got a reservation for 2 nights, 5 people, for $540 after taxes and fees using hotels dot com (a steal for NYC hotel costs).

We checked in early without a problem. The room was large and everything was nice enough- I wouldn't say it's a fancy hotel, but it's nice, clean, and moderately nice. The room was the perfect size for 5 people- 2 queen beds and a pull-out couch. It also had a table with 2 parts to it- we pulled out the second part of the table and created a table in the corner for party favors, drinks, etc. Our fridge was tiny, but we made it work. The temperature was fairly easy to control, although I noticed that 1 degree made a big difference in whether it was warm or cold in the room. The bathroom was nice and had lots of water pressure. As an added bonus, there is free Wi-Fi.

Overall, it was pretty standard for anyone who has stayed in a Courtyard Marriott before. In comparison to other NYC hotels, however, it is huge and well-priced. We also called downstairs a few times for extra hangers, towels, etc., and they all came promptly without any issues. It's also in a great location, and very convenient to just about everything we wanted to do. Next time we come to NYC with a group of people, we will definitely try to stay here.

What a wonderful location! I booked my weeklong vacation months ago by phone. It was important to me to have a large room since my sister and I would be sharing the 2 queen bed room. I made a request to be on a higher floor (to hear less traffic noise), and to have a corner location. Our flight was coming in late, so I added a late night arrival to my list of requests. So months pass by and my trip finally arrives. Walked in at 11:30 pm and was immediately met by a very nice, welcoming front desk clerk. Not only did I get a high room, in the corner, large in size, with two queen beds... She upgraded our room with a gorgeous view of the Chrylser building!! I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the quality of the room.
The only bothersome issue are the tiny trash cans. One in the room and one in the bathroom. Filled those up a couple times a day with all our snacking- lol!
The concierge was not very welcoming and acted like I was bothering him when asking for directions using the subway. I walked away from him with a bad taste in my mouth. But all the other wonderful staff make up for the concierge's bad attitude.
There is a 24 hr drugstore, like a Walgreens right next door in case you forgot to bring a few things from home, or get the munchies and want to grab a quick, easy snack.
Overall, I'm so happy I read all the great reviews on yelp of this hotel.. You didn't let me down!!

If I could give this place 100 stars I would. My mom and I arrived in NYC late on a Thursday night to find out that the place we thought we had to stay.... we didn't. After a frantic phone call to the Marriott reservations line to try to get a room (if even for one night as the United Nations Summit was going on in town and things were booked) we were told they had two king rooms for one night at this hotel (we actually wanted to share one room with two beds but at the time of this call they said they did not have any). Whatever... we just figured it beat having NO WHERE to stay so off we went to this hotel.First off, huge shout out of THANKS to Julissa Diaz at the front desk who was 1) awesome 2) nice 3) noticed my mom and I were both about in tears and it was like 11 pm and we didn't know if we even had anywhere to stay and then 4) not only was she able to get us into a room together with two beds but was also able to get in us the room through the duration of our trip. THANK YOU JULISSA! Our room was great (21st floor so it was quiet) and every staff we met during our entire stay was FANTASTIC. I can not state enough how helpful, friendly and nice everyone was. The level of service here was EXCELLENT. From our rooms being spotless to our awesome door guys that always found us a cab.... the two Texans thank you for making our trip to NYC (my very first trip) so great. If I make it back to NYC again this hotel will be my first choice of a place to stay. Thank you again!

Amazingly good handicapped accessibility and hospitality. We arrived and promptly learned my mom's wheelchair was broken. The hotel let us use one of theirs the whole weekend no problem. The room was large and the roll-in shower superb. I wish more hotels had the option to book a room with your accessibility specifications online and without the queasy feeling that they don't know what you're talking about-- this hotel offers just that, such a relief.

Due to a series of mishaps a friend & I were stuck in the city with our overnight bags and nowhere to stay.  With plans to meet friends for dinner we decided to try our luck & book a room for the night.  Booked online & then called to confirm.  Spoke with Gail who said indeed our reservation was received.  When we arrived a few minutes later she was there to greet us.  She gave us a nice room on the 21st floor very clean and comfy.  King bed, sleeper sofa TV, WIFI, coffeemaker, it was great.  As New Yorkers it was weird to be staying in a hotel in the city, but for sure we would go back in a heartbeat.

What a surprisingly good experience! The hotel has a surprisingly small entrance so it's easy to miss, and the lobby is tiny and efficient - really only room for a check in desk and a few chairs. The check in process was expeditious and there was no line.

The room was surprisingly large - room for a small love seat and lots of room to walk around the room. The room must have been updated recently because there were automated shades (they did a really good job blocking out all light), new-looking furnishings and bathroom.

This is still a Courtyard Marriott so don't expect anything over the top... There are few to no amenities in the hotel but that's what the rest if New York is for!

I'VE NEVER STAYED AT A WORSE HOTEL.  THIS PLACE IS MIDTOWN... WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!?!?

The staff were all rude, dissmissive and creepy!  No, I'm not a high maintenance New York elitist...I'm a regular woman from Boston who just wants friendly, kind staff...

1.) we called for extra pillows and the guy who brought them up had his hand perched high up on the door frame and didn't even put the case on it.  He yanked the pillow away when I went to reach for it and he said, "well let me put the case on it..."  (he should have done this long before he came upstairs and not had his hand on the door frame creepily)

2.) valet guy somehow busted off the electrical portion on the drivers seat...???  Pedro was awesome, helpful and sympathetic, kind and advocating (valet worker I think?) but the security personnel Jose was so rude!!!!  I couldn't believe how rude and dissmissive he was over the valet people breaking my mom's car... hellooooooooo   I told him this needs to be a quick claim filing since we are in a hurry to leave the hotel and didn't carve out time for the car to be damaged..  he said, listen it's gonna take A WHILE.  After I argued with him for a few minutes about this, he completed the claim in about 2 minutes...  he just needed pictures and a statement, just like I suspected.  RUDE.

3.) the WINDOWS AREN'T INSULATED.  There was FROST on all our room windows, we cranked the heat up to 80 and it was still chilly in the room... PLUS THE WINDOW OPENS, ON THE 26TH FLOOR.  very unsettling and weird.

4.) there was weird clientele around...  a weird older man kept hovering around the reception desk and was talking like he is there all the time and threatening to sleep on the 12th floor again (the restaurant area) if the lady didn't hurry up....

    5.) the bathroom is tiny.

6.) the beds are doubles... and the room was $250 full price, thank god my mom works for Triple A.

What a surprise.  I was expecting a mediocre hotel for the price I paid, and I was amazing.  We had a cool view (HUGE windows), it was a huge room and had a pull out couch.   We asked them for a microwave and they brought it up at no cost.  It had a mini fridge which was perfect for us.  Everyone was super nice and helpful.  It was nice that it was right next to a Duane Reade/walgreens so we can pick up snacks and drinks.   Right across from the subway so we were able to get around easily.

The rooms in this hotel are a really good size for NY. I was here on business and the connectivity is really reliable, I had no issues. It is very well located.
The 12th floor Bistro area is nice, but it would be much more useful if it had more convenient hours. It closes at 930 in the morning...not helpful.
    I would stay here again.

Great location, friendly staff, and clean rooms/building. My group arrived at about 9am and check-in isn't until 3pm or so, but the hotel gladly held our luggage securely for us while we roamed the city. just outside of the hotel there is a Dwayne Reed and a subway station. Very easy to get around from this hotel location.

The rooms were clean and spacious for a NYC hotel.

I subtracted a star because in the photos on the website, the rooms come with couches that fold out into a bed.. we had 5 people.. so we were expecting 2 queen beds and a couch that folds out. but i guess since they remodelled the hotel, the fold out couch was just a regular 1 seater couch that doesn't fold out.

I re-added the star when we kept asking house keeping to bring us more pillows and blankets, etc. since one of the people with us had to sleep on the floor. they were very accommodating with our requests and brought us everything we asked for.

They have free wifi, but it isn't that secure. no password needed.

I have stayed at many NYC business-class hotels, and this one takes the cake as far as room size is concerned.

My 6-year old son and I jumped on a quick weekend shopping trip, and I grabbed the room for a very good value rate (for a NYC weekend!). Typically, you're spending $250-plus for a decent hotel during the summer, but I was able to get this room for a good chunk under that, utilizing Mariott's website.

At check-in, I managed to walk in before the rush of 4PM "right on time" folks pushed through the door. The desk staff was efficient, friendly, and managed to get through that rush of humanity quickly.

I somehow managed to get a corner room, with a king bed and a pull-out couch. This room, by NYC standards, was a monster. Plenty of space, windows galore, and modern decor. I was on the NE side of the building, and had an expansive view of the hustle-and-bustle of 3rd Avenue. As far as city views came, it was good. Now, the one issue with the forementioned "hustle-and-bustle" is the noise... if you're used to staying in NYC, then you know this and almost welcome it, but if you're not... well, the earplugs provided will be a welcome sight. (*The old cliched phrase "City That Never Sleeps" is indeed accurate.)

For the business traveler, the room has plenty to offer. I had a more-than-adequate number of outlets, as I had several devices to keep charged. This is one of my pet peeves with other "business hotels", who only have a whopping two outlets unless you plan on moving furniture around. The wireless in the room worked flawlessly and had plenty of speed, even on the free connection.

The concierge was VERY nice, and recommended a terrific little neighborhood pizza shop for my son, who wanted to try some "authentic" NY-style floppy pizza. We did not eat at the little cafe on the 12th floor.

As mentioned in many reviews, the location is terrific. You are only a few blocks from Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and anything else around the "30 Rock" complex. Central Park is an easy walk, as is Grand Central Station. Bryant Park and the NYC Library are both 10 blocks away. If you need a quick coffee break and a quiet read, there is a HUGE Barnes and Noble only a block away. Or, grab a coffee and head over to Greenacre Park, on 51st and only a block away in the other direction from the hotel.

I was very pleased with this hotel... clean, efficient, location, and the room size being the top reasons. I used to stay at the Marriott East Side, and put up with smaller rooms and a gruff staff... even grumpy toward Marriott Rewards members.

I wish I would have booked this one for my other trips. I know better now.

Great location with huge rooms.  Stayed here with husband & 3 kids. Requested 2 Q beds on a quiet floor.  At check-in was given a room with 2 Q and a sofa bed on the 23rd floor.  No fights over who had to sleep on the floor!  Room was clean and modern.  Reception was quick.  Walked to both Times Square and Upper East Side.  Heard some sounds through the walls such as toilets flushing but nominal street noise.

In the morning we checked our bags with the bellman and left our car with the valet until late afternoon.  We came back to use the lounge and restrooms on the 12th floor before claiming our bags and car.

Great location within walking distance to some great food and fun. Green acre park is a hidden gem on 51st and Ground Central coffee on 52nd is great.

The rooms are updated and large considering it's Manhattan. The hotel is very basic- no real restaurant, lobby or room service.

I rented the one meeting room they have for a week. They don't have staff to support the room so you have to constantly ask for the room to be refreshed(water, garbage).

Front desk staff was always helpful and friendly.

With Courtyard, you always get consistency. You've been to one, you've been to a few. They don't vary that much. This one is one of the newer ones it feels with updated decors. It's tucked onto a surprisingly busy street where for some reason the fire trucks and ambulances like to travel through.

The staff are friendly, especially the bellman who always had a great smile and willing to offer advice and help whenever possible.

There is free internet in the lobby and in your room. This is usually the case with Courtyards, but you never know in NYC.

In the basement is water and the gym, seems to be an odd place for both I think.

The hotel is clean, rooms are tidy and bigger than many rooms I've been in NYC. It's quite convenient as well located walking distance from Penn station. You can walk one way to the 1 line or other way to B line. But I prefer taking the bus, it's way more convenient.

Only thing with Courtyard is you don't get the luxuries. It never feels like a top notch hotel, but I guess it's not trying to be. Also, the lobby snack place for hot food/drink is closed early I found. And if you stay here on a special occasion, you can forget about anything extra.

I'd still come back here again, always know what to expect!

For NYC, these rooms are on the larger side.  If you get a high floor room, you also get some pretty decent views.  Mine had a great view of the Chrysler building.  Sound insulation is also quite good-- very little city sound permeated my windows or walls.

I always get this funky subtle urine smell from my bathrooms though-- this is across most NYC hotels (maybe mustiness from humidity? maybe time to scrub the grout!).  Other than that nice hotel for NYC in terms of cleanliness and location.

Got this room for a cheap rate for New York, at $240. Pros:

Amazing size for NY. Tons of room, and the view was spectacular.

    Bathroom was nice

Free internet (also a con.. read on)

    Good location

    Beds are very, very comfortable

    Next to a subway

    Staff is nice

    Cons:

Elevator broke. Other elevators worked perfectly.

Internet is free, but it doesn't work that well. Good for surfing, not good for videos.

    Easy to hear outside noises.

Overall, the cons are minor, and for the price you will likely pay, it is worth the stay.

Clean, tidy, and spacious rooms. Friendly customer service. But be aware of the credit card holds they put on your account, and even though it's in a good location, everything at night was closed. None of the restaurants within walking distance were open after 9 pm, even on a weekend. I'd stay elsewhere next time, only because I prefer busier locations. But if you like quiet and quaint, this is a great find!

I kind of want to keep this hotel my secret - but since it's in Midtown I'm pretty sure business travelers are well aware of this gem. I've stayed here a few more times since my original review and it's quickly become one of my favorite hotels, period.

The rooms are HUGE - even for a standard non-NY room. In Midtown, they would be considered "ginormatron".

Every time I've stayed, my room has been spotless and well maintained.

Staff is very friendly - this last visit they kindly upgraded me to a corner room where I had amazing views to the north and east.

Two subway lines just 1/2 block away. The location can't be beat - you can easily walk to Times Square (if you absolutely must), Rockerfeller Center, Central Park and so much more.

Prices are going to vary depending on what's happening in the city but I've been able to score some really good rates here.

I'm a pretty picky traveler and I truly look forward to staying here, so upgrade to 5 stars!

We arrived early into NYC and wanted to check into the hotel. I called and spoke with a nice woman about checking in early and she said my room was ready. Awesome! We made our way to the hotel, parked in front of the hotel, and waited for valet, but no one came out. I called the hotel and asked about valet, and was told to come in and they'll take care of it.

We walked into the small lobby and was greeted by two nice women working at the front desk. Got to our room and it was pleasant to see it was a nice size room with two beds and a sofa.  I did not like the bathroom at all. The sink area is seperated, placed outside of the bathroom. The toilet paper holder is placed a little out of the way to the right of the toilet. There was also not enough lighting. The sink area is quite small. Only two mirrors in the whole room... a sink mirror and a full length mirror on the closet door. The little lotion bottle that they provided was 1/2 empty so I'm not sure if housekeeping forgot to replenish when they cleaned the room.

The room was very clean with no odors. TV worked fine, and wifi worked great.

You can definitely hear the noises from outside but that is to be expected in NYC.

Love the location, walking distance to all the tourist attractions,  and subway entrance right at the corner.

All the staff members we encountered on our stay were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return for a future stay.

The hotel is nice and clean, and the employees are helpful and courteous. My problem is that the Internet  does not work well at all. It is too slow, and does not allow downloading of images or streaming, which is horrible. There is a "gold"  service for internet, but you must pay more for this hotel that already is expensive, then there is state tax, and three city taxes on top of your bill.

If you are a business person, then do not stay here unless you wish to spend all your time nearby at a Starbucks to get Internet, or all of your time in the crowded and noisy common areas (although I suspect the Internet is poor there also).

Everything else is fine and up to the excellent Marriott standards. But if you use Internet, go somewhere else.

I had such a pleasant stay last year that it was an automatic unanimous decision for us to stay here again this year when we visited at Thanksgiving.  This hotel, once again, did not disappoint....... on any level.

First of all, we arrived super early...... around 6am, and they let us do an early check-in.  We were sooooo appreciative of that.  We just wanted to unpack, relax, and maybe catch a little sleep (since we took the redeye from CA)...... and they let us.  Normal check-in isn't till 4pm, I believe.  Every single one of their staff, no matter what shift, was super nice, and it honestly helped in making our stay there even better than it was.

The room was super comfy, ultra clean, and quite spacious, which is rare for a Manhattan hotel room.  When I called for extra towels and hangers, they were there a minute later with a huge stack of each.  Having stayed here two times now, I can honestly say that we don't hear a peep in the rooms.  Were it not for the droves of people we see in the halls, on the elevators, or in the lobby, we'd never know the hotel was otherwise occupied.

Something fun.....we were on the 27th floor and because we were so high up, when it snowed on Thanksgiving, we could see it coming down from that high up.  That was awesome.  Yet, on the ground floor, it was basically rain.

On the day we left, we checked out in the morning, but because our flight wasn't until the late afternoon, we checked our bags with the bellman.  It was very easy, and they kept them well secured.

I heartily recommend staying at this hotel.
