I actually live in Brooklyn and a friend gave us 2 nights here. We had been recovering from a cough and both had not slept well for a whole week at home. We wanted a quiet room and in the Reservation asked for high floor. When we got there our room was 502 yikes! I heard the low floors would hear the subway. In fact I could feel it while in the lobby. So I asked for a higher floor. Got 932.  Higher but at the corner closest to the Fire Station half a block away. So 02 room away for Fire station. 32 room closer. But at least we were on the 9th floor and the Fire trucks didn't interupt our sleep.  In fact the first night my wife slept til 10am!  The bed is very comfortable and the pillows are great soft, but not too soft. Sheets very clean and relatively new. Furniture in the room very modern and practical. Corner room had a small modern folding sofa bed, very nice. Flat screen tv nice. downstairs sat/sun am had a free Starbucks coffee bar - great!  last night we noticed the frig didn't work, so guest services replaced it at 10pm, we had some leftover dinner that we wanted to keep. They even gave us 2 free breakfast vouchers for the hassle!  I normally am not impressed by brunch. To me it's like a high price breakfast. The French restaurant's brunch was awesome!  the 14.50 deal gives you a lot of food with choice of 2 sides, which are big. so we each got different sides like smoked salmon, cream cheese, fruit salad and a pastry. wife got omlette I got waffles. it was a feast!  I would next time get eggs instead of the waffles, since you get toast with the eggs or omlette. We both slept well and felt much better after our stay. the black out drapes make the room real dark.

A great Times Square hotel!  From the time I arrived to the time I left, I felt like a welcomed guest, nut just a revenue source.  This may not be a hotel where you get a mint on your pillow every night, but the comfort level ans amenities make this a hotel I would recommend.

This is a quite, clean hotel with Free (wired) Internet and access to the printer in the business center.  Within walking distance to Times Square and theaters.  Rooms a little worn in areas, they are in the middle of a renovation.

The flat screen TV has poor resolution, but the room comes with a fridge and a microwave.  There is an office chair, but no chair/ottoman combo that is in many HGIs.  The room is huge for what I was expecting for the cost in Manhattan though.

The service in the cafe downstairs left a lot to be desired in the timeliness area, but the food was mostly good, and room service was prompt and friendly.  

The hotel staff has been very nice during my stay and they accommodated my early check-in.

We just got back from holding our wedding in beautiful New York City, and could not possibly be happier with our experience at this hotel.  We had a a huge party of guests staying at the hotel for our wedding and everything was executed like a well-oiled machine.  The staff was extremely informative, friendly, and professional.  The gym is extremely clean with modern equipment.  It might strike some out-of-towners as a little small, but this is New York City, where square footage is highly coveted.  I'm sure it's bigger than most Manhattan studio apartments.  The restaurant next door has incredible food, an even better bar selection, and a bar staff that will never let your beer pint go empty without notice.  The location is perfect for a centrally-based New York stay.  It's especially perfect for guests who are first time visitors to the city and want to see as much as they can.  Also, the subway stop across the street will take you anywhere you need to go.  Only a 20 minute subway ride from Midtown Manhattan to Brooklyn Law School?  That's why we love New York.  Honestly, we love this hotel.  Look no further, and book this place!

It was fine. Comfortable room, had everything i needed. The gym wasn't bad, though some of the machines didn't work and they only have maintenance people coming in once a month. Here's the kicker. I could hear and feel the subway underneath me the entire night! So everytime the train came, i woke up. Not a good nights sleep.

Nothing to rave about but a good deal for what you pay.

It's near everything and has a great cafe downstairs. The rooms are simple but well equipped. We have a fridge, flat screen TV, big desk and a nice office chair. The central air works very well and the beds are fairly comfortable - a little soft for my taste. The room is fairly sized for a big city hotel but not super roomy. However, it is VERY quiet in our room - you can't hear the city noise at all. I'd definitely come back.

The staff is pleasant but not overly friendly. They tend to your needs with courtesy and no one has been grumpy yet. So far so good. It's not a 5 star hotel but among its competitors, I think they are doing great!

After doing what seemed like hours of research, we settled on this hotel for a last minute trip.  Due to health reasons (I am on an organ transplant list), we cannot at this point plan extended vacations or vacations far in advance, but are trying to make the most of things.

I won't go into all of the unnecessary details, but I believe that the beginning and end of our trip sum the entire experience up in a nutshell.  Our car arrived at the hotel, and I was already so ill from the flight and car rides that I tripped and fell out of the car onto the sidewalk.  I took a moment to gather myself and calm down my young kids, and proceeded to make it to my feet.  Looking into the hotel, not more than 15 feet away, I saw the Doorman, and, according to my family, he had been watching the entire experience.

Now, I understand that this is NYC, and perhaps I shouldn't expect much in terms of empathy from the staff.  However, I don't feel that it is unreasonable to expect him to either assist with our baggage, or call someone over to do so.  Instead, he just smiled, turned his back, and walked away.  I truly couldn't believe what I was seeing.  We did manage to get the bags inside and then someone else saw us and came over and took them to the room.  Quite a way to say "Welcome to the Big Apple!"

The end of the trip closely mirrored the beginning.  I soon realized that, much to the disappointment of my young children and wife, I couldn't do as much sightseeing as I had hoped.  But I certainly did not want to ruin their trip, so from time to time I sent them on their way and relaxed in the room to try to gather more strength.  Once I realized that I would have to miss some of the sights on our last day, I went to the front desk.  The customer DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME was asking for a late check-out (2PM) for the next day.  The counter person told her that it wouldn't be a problem at all.

When I requested a late check out, I can only assume that the desk clerk thought that I was only doing so because she had done the same for the person in front of me.  I, therefore, received a direct "no" to the request.  I explained a bit of the situation, and she would not budge.  Finally, I told her about my physical condition, and that I really had no other place to go.  Begrudgingly, she agreed... But made it quite clear that she was not happy in doing so.  Again, a fitting way to send me off with a "We hope you will come back soon!"

I won't bother anyone with the events in between the two.  I also won't bother this particular hotel with my presence in the future!

I agree with the rest of yelpers here, this is an excellent hotel in its price range. Clean and within walking distance to the theaters. We had breakfast at the restaurant down by the lobby.. but that's another story/review.

Amazing how affordable ($155 all inclusive) a top floor room can be in Manhattan on Easter Sunday.  I stayed here last weekend with my girlfriend and they kindly let us check in more than an hour early.  The "evolution" room was clean with an awesomely stable and comfortable king size bed.  It also had a flat screen tv which operated a bit slow but we weren't there to watch tv anyway.  Also, all the rooms are equipped with free wi-fi and there is a business center in the lobby if you need to print something for free or didn't bring a computer.  Not much of a view from our side of the building, facing 8th ave towards the higher numbers but a nice experience nonetheless.

We are here for five nights and this place is amazing because of the staff and service.  Jared emailed up before our stay and helped make our stay perfect.  Rooms are clean, spacious for NYC and the location is great.  Tip - prepay for a great savings.

Stay Here! Location, Location, Location, and price!   I was thoroughly impressed with my recent stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square.  The hotel is located only one block from the center of Times Square and in short walking distances from other major NYC attractions. (Theaters, Empire State Building, Central park, etc.) The customer service received at the HGITS was top notch from start to finish.  The guest room was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable.  The room was smaller than some other King rooms I have stayed in but for the price and location it served our purposes.  I was able to secure a room at this Hilton Garden Inn for quite a few $$$ less than comparable hotels in the same area. I highly recommend this hotel for tourist travelers and theater patrons.

Amazing deal for the price in terms of location, cleanliness, in-room amenities (minifridge, microwave, coffeemaker). Traffic noise a problem if you're a light sleeper (we were on the 5th fl). Complimentary coffee & tea 6am-10am only. Pigalle Restaurant entrees average $18 but you won't find any cheap eateries in this area. Food Emporium market on corner of 49th & 8th is great for take-out hot/cold foods and snacks; open till midnight. Smokers: This is a 100% nonsmoking hotel. Front desk staff very friendly, courteous, and helpful but bellman was curt. Would definitely stay again.

Had a very nice stay at this HGI.  The staff is very accomodating and friendly.  The rooms are very comfortable. I like that they have a flat screen TV, coffee pot and little refrigator. (Typical HGI).  The rooms show some age through the remodeling...but it is easily over looked since the rooms are decorated nicely, and as mentioned ...comfortable.  I like the big windows in the room!  I also like being able to actually open the windows to hear the sounds of NY! I would stay here again but what would stop me is the restaurant attached to the hotel (Pigalle)!  The restaurant  accepts the free breakfast vouchers from HGI...but I absoutly hate that restaurant!!!  The restaurant  staff is not trained in customer service like that of the HGI.  On the last day of my stay I asked to sit at a table where I could see my luggage...it was a table for 4 (there were 2 of us) and I was told NO!  HUH?  I asked to talk to the manager & she was extremely condensending and rude!  If the restaurant were busy I would understand but there were many open tables!!!  The restaurant manager (Renea?) said they are not affaliated with the hotel..."really???"  They don't mind getting the business from the hotel!  And...that is why they can be rude to the customers??? This is a deal breaker for me....especially since my 3 co-workers & I EACH spent $1,800 at the hotel for 4 nights!!!

We used this hotel as it was recommended to us by my bank. It's not much to look at from the outside but the service and pleasantness of most of the staff makes it a 7star in my book. The only drawback is not all staff are consistently operating at that level,the Restuarant next door that handles all the hotel guests have great food but the reception staff are  clueless about customer service and etiquette.
There where 3 birthdays in our group and Laura Maldonado director of guest services at the hotel as well as Stanley the front desk assistant where incredibly  helpful and gracious. They paid for breakfast the one morning as well as delivered cake to all the rooms from the hotel.I could not find my iphone charger and Stanley very  kindly volunteered his personal charger for the 5 days we where there.   These acts of graciousness are rare to find and left a pleasant feeling throughout our 5day stay. The hotel is clean,comfortable and a 2 minute walk from Times Sq. The porters need a brushing up on their attitude from my observations .Some members at the front desk weren't as pleasant as most of the other staff we encountered. On the whole I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here with a friend on Mother's Day, and despite a pretty large crowd bustling in and out that day, we checked in early (!) at noon with no problem and no wait. The staff is definitely a high point of this hotel: they were always friendly and smiling (very non-NYC), inquiring into how they could help. The housekeeping staff and the front desk staff should be commended.

Our king-bed room was generously sized for Midtown, and since we had a non-streetside room on the 6th floor, noise wasn't a problem. The bed was comfy and the desk was large, with a really great task chair. I also have to commend this chain on the whole for free wifi in the room! The business center downstairs is a nice offering, too.

The bathroom was rather small but had everything we needed: plush towels and Neutrogena products plus a Waterpik showerhead with good water pressure.

I was especially happy when housekeeping honored my "do not disturb" sign until we checked out, at 11:45am. They were quiet in the hallway as they were going about their business, so I was able to sleep late (important, since I had gotten sick the night before!). I'd definitely return.

The cost of the hotel was just ridiculous, but I was there on business on the company tab.  I would have gladly paid $250 or so a night for the location of the hotel. You are literally a 5 min walk from amazing restaurants and Broadway theatres. There is a subway station across the street, and a great bar called The Social about 25 yards from the hotel front door.

Kudos to the staff and management for excellent service. Everyone from the manager to the maid went out of there way to make sure we had everything at all times. They helped us find places to do karaoke, hailed cabs, and filled us in on some of the finer parts of the theatre district. Funny story- My buddy and I grabbed some beer across the street and were hanging out in the lobby watching Monday Night Football while finishing our drinks. The manager came up to us and said "You can't have open containers because we don't have an alcohol license..... would you like some cups"? My head exploded from the awesomeness.

Stayed here for one night. It was clean and conviniently located within reasonable walking distances to many attractions. I was double charged for my stay, but one call cleared it up and they were very apologetic. My real gripe was with the parking. I should have done my research as i got ripped off. I paid $45 for 18 hours for our accord. Not to mention they went through our car as stuff in our compartment were not how we left it.

I will start with the disclaimer that unless you are interested in the Theater District/Times Square experience of NYC, this is not necessarily the neighborhood that you want to book a hotel in.  I stayed here because my partner was spending a few days at a writer's conference a few blocks away.

Even with this disclaimer, I'd say this hotel is a good value even if you are planning on spending most of your time in other areas of the city.  The hotel amenities were as indicated and the staff was helpful and polite.  Free internet in room and access to computers on the first floor if you didn't bring your laptop.  Comfortable beds in a small but cozy room. Clean and modern bath with the standard complimentary cleaning products.

Additionally, this hotel is located a short walk from multiple Metro lines that can quickly whisk you to Central Park, Chelsea, the LES or even Broooklyn.

If you need to be in Midtown for other reasons all ready, the Hilton Garden Inn is definitely worth checking out.

I have now stayed here twice in 10 months and will stay again within the next year because of the rooms and the staff. Yes, it is a bonus that the room is in a great location...on the west side of Manhattan just off of Restaurant Row and Times Square...but it is the staff and clean rooms that keeps drawing me back.  If you only need one bed, you can get great last minute deals on Hotels.com .  Just to make a point, the staff help make great memories. We have family that live on Long Island, but my mother wanted to stay for a change in the city. One of the doormen asked if she needed a cab, and when she replied yes, he escorted her by her hand out to the street and helped my squealing with laughter 65+ mother hail a cab! We are still laughing over that! They are beyond great. It all happened so fast, we didn't even get a chance to tip him!! The weekend staff from the weekend of July 21st needs a bonus!

I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!! If it is not convenient to your destination...take a cab or subway!

Stayed for one weekend night with 2 kids, my mom and my husband. Our room faced 8th Ave and there is a fire dept one block down, but despite that we still slept soundly. Room and hotel surprisingly clean. No evidence of bed bugs or other city nuisances. You can't beat the location and the staff were all fantastic. During our stay we did not use the subway, so I can't speak to the hotel's proximity to a subway stop.

Great hotel for a reasonable price (by NYC standards).  We paiid $179 a night for Sunday and Monday.night stay.  

And so convenient.  You have a nice little gourmet market half a black away on 8th Street in case you get an attack of the munchies.  And a subway station is also very close by.  Plus you can experience the craziness of Times Square with a quick 4 minute walk.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable beds.  Also, the staff is very friendly and efficient.  My wife loved the fact that security is checking room keys before they let anyone go up the elevators (I think she's been watching too many episodes of "Law and Order").

First of all, would definitely stay here again. The location is on 8th between 47th & 48th. One block away from all the excitement of Times Square, but without all the bright lights! Our room was on the 11th floor and I would recommend a high floor for any place in NYC. Stayed here beginning of June 2008 during the first big heat wave.

-Friendly staff, and ultra helpful bellhops/doorman
-Comfy king size bed with two kinds of pillows
-Small bathroom but manageable
-Close to the 50th St subway stop, and only a few streets up from the 42nd St. Port Authority
-Air conditioner works well and drowns out any street noise and hallway noise
-Tons of restaurants nearby--Highly recommend Amarone, its on 9th street between 47 & 48th, also Toloache Mexican Bistro on 50th (right around the corner from the hotel)
-Starbucks on every corner

Overall very good things to say about this hotel. We walked to Rockefeller and 5th Ave & beyond. Its a walking city so bring your walking shoes!  
Airport shuttle is $24 per person, or a taxi is $45 to JFK. The subway is kind of a hassle, especially with luggage during rush hour. If you are coming or going during rush hour, forget the subway to/from JFK.

The hotel wants to be rated a 10 and will try their best to accommodate you. Call ahead of time and confirm your reservation along with any room requests. Rooms were reasonably priced and we did not find a cheaper place other than a shared bathroom hostile for under what we paid.
Honestly, once you book it you won't be sorry!

We've stayed at many of the hotels in and around Times Square over the years, but what a delight it was to find the newly renovated Hilton Garden Inn on 8th Avenue!  Hilton is trying very hard to cast the Garden Inn chain between the Doubletree and regular Hiltons, and this property certainly fit the bill.  We loved the fresh baked cookies at check in, and the cooler of ice cold lemonade (even if it was Country Time) was a welcomed relief as NYC sweltered through a heat wave!  On top of that, the certificates for the free bottle of water from the "Pantry" was a welcomed and unexpected bit of relief!  We upgraded to a corner room, and it was spacious and comfortable.  I understand it is a company policy, but I have to admit it seems kinda silly to charge Hilton Honors guests $15 for this upgrade--you should just provide a gratis upgrade for Hilton Honors members like other chains do for their valued loyal members.  On the other hand, offering free Wifi (when Marriott and others hit you up for this fee) more than made up the difference!  My only other concern about Hilton Garden Inns (not just this property) is the thread count for bathroom towels and bed sheets.  The beds are very comfortable sleep number beds that allow you to adjust the firmness of the mattress for each side of the bed.  What a shame to waste such a nice feature with sheets that were stiff, unyielding, and noisy?  Indeed, the sheets and towels is the only reason I couldn't rate this hotel a "5", but I recognize it is true for all Garden Inns.  What this property has hands down, however, is a FANTASTIC location!  You're one block from the Hershey and M&M stores, six blocks from Times Square, and literally less than one block from several big name theaters and restaurants.  In fact, we were able to eat, shop, and see the shows we had tickets for and never walked further than five blocks.  With the temperature near 100 degrees each day we were there, having a hotel in such close proximity to everything was terrific!  Finally, I offer high compliments to ALL of the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square staff--from the front desk to the security guards to the housekeeping staff, everyone was friendly, offered assistance, and seemed genuinely pleased that we were their guests!  As a result of this weekend, this hotel property has assumed the # 1 spot on our list of favorite places to stay when visiting New York City.  You can't go wrong here!

Good location--convenient to Times Square and mid-town.  Went there in August and the place was jammed packed with tourists.  The staff was very friendly, especially the bellman.  Good selection at the breakfast buffet.  If you are an HHonors Gold level member the breakfast is free.  If I had to pay for the breakfast I probably would have gone elsewhere, however (given the notional price).  The business center was very good.  I've stayed at plenty of fancier hotels in NY but relative to the price it seemed like a decent value.  Would definitely go there again with the kids.

Nice place to stay if you're a tourist in NYC. It's a 5-10 min walk from both Times Sq and Central Park. They'll hail you a cab if you need it, though. There's free internet access, and a small gym (5 cardio machines and a few weights, 2 yoga mats, a semi-deflated yoga ball). The rooms are small-ish for the price, but clean and well-stocked with towels, shampoo, etc. There's a small microwave and fridge, as well as a coffee pot. I felt safe and comfortable for the entire stay, which is not common for me to say in NY. Some reviewers were right that there are a few "Adult" shops on the street, but they are pretty hidden (well there are signs) amongst such a busy street. Pharmacy and Starbucks both on the bloc.

Why should you stay at this hotel? I'll tell you. Because a lot of hotels in the same price range in this area are absolute crap. But not this one. Business travelers will be happy to know that you can have your wireless workspace and your Hilton points too! The hotel is clean and convenient and the staff here are very friendly and attentive. You are walking distance from midtown madness of theaters, but also very close to some great restaurants and Central Park.

Staying here right now and I love it! The distance to everything is perfect, the accommodations are great, they give you recommended nearby restaurants, the staff is very friendly (except for one lady that works at the gift shop) and you get free wi-fi! What more could you ask for?

From my first phone call there ("I just got in early... can I check in now?") to my last interaction with them, they were SPOT on. I was able to check in super early (9am!) because they weren't that busy that day and had my requested room available. The bellman took my luggage, grabbed me some bottled water, and made sure I was comfortable before he left. SO courteous. Then I put my "do not disturb" sign on the door for the next two days while I was in and out of meetings and updating presentations. I didn't really need maid service (eh, I can make my own bed somewhat, and I didn't want to be disturbed while working in my room) - but they left me a message every day to see if I needed any towels or if I needed anything extra. It was SUCH a nice touch - and very much appreciated. Everyone was super friendly - they always made eye contact and smiled, and there was always someone to greet me when I was running in and out of the hotel.

My last meeting on my last day there ran a little too long, so they extended my checkout to 3PM so that I could change and shower before hopping on a plane back home. And they held my luggage for me for an hour while I ran around trying to find something quick to eat before heading out! They also offered to get me a cab to the airport. They really anticipated all of my needs.

I'm a New Yorker at heart, and I could have just stayed with friends or family, but I was in town for business and really didn't have the time to be distracted (I had so much to do!). I'll definitely stay here again. The room was spacious and considerably more roomier than most of the hotels I've been to in New York. And I didn't feel like ripping out my hair from claustrophobia when I was holed up there working all day! The location is also central to everything! "Times Square" is only several blocks away - the blue line, C E train was a block away (50th St stop), there was a Starbucks a block away... I was caffeinated up and pretty happy for my entire visit there.

My only gripe was that I couldn't room service breakfast. :) Thanks Hilton, you made a crazy stressful visit not so crazy.

Outstanding hotel! Maryann, the guest services manager actually emailed us ahead of time to get our preferences, and when I mentioned to her that we were on a special getaway, she gave us a "view" room on the top (15th) floor, and left a bottle of wine.

The hotel room was very comfortable and we slept well. It's also super conveniently located. Being in midtown, we were able to go all over the city and stop back at the hotel to rest and recoup.

I would definitely consider staying here again next thanksgiving. Our stay was perfect!

Loved this hotel, it's a great bargain in the theater district!

The rooms were fairly large by NYC standards, about what you'd expect anywhere else.  I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was, and was generally happy with the accommodations.  There's a gym on the second floor, a free office area on the first floor, with free internet and printing.  A small convenience store, and even complimentary starbucks coffee in the morning!

One of the best things about the hotel (aside from it's general cleanliness), is that it was so conveniently located to everything!  Because we were on such a limited time schedule, I didn't want to waste a whole lot of time messing around with subways and walking long distances so we pretty much cabbed it everywhere.  Anywhere we went came to under $10 (including tip).  Maybe that's just NYC, but I was extremely happy, especially since it was a drizzly weekend.

My only complaint was the noise, but I manage to sleep through anything.  A few times through the nights I woke and could hear a low kind of rumbling.  At first, I thought it sounded like someone dragging their bags through the hallway, later I realized it was a subway line running underneath the building and think all the rooms must have had a slight rumble.  We were there two nights (Saturday and Sunday), and I only heard it really early Monday morning.  I think the line must not run through the weekends.  Just something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to that kind of thing.

As for the hotel bar/restaurant, Pigalle, I'll save that for a separate review, but it's a definite plus!  I came to NYC with a list of restaurants to try and I was determined not to sit in the hotel bar/restaurant.  Still, at least twice the Pigalle came to our rescue and I'm glad we had it there to fall back on.

Good location just off of Times Square. Plenty of delis, diners, bars in the general vicinity.

The rooms are spacious, with a sitting area, desk, new TVs, microwaves, and mini fridge. The bathrooms are on the smaller side, but who spends that much time in there anyway? Full length mirrors in the room. Get a higher floor so you don't hear the traffic and garbage trucks in the wee hours of the morning.

In the morning there is complimentary coffee and tea in the reception area. Connection is to a bar/restaurant which is very crowded at breakfast. The shop in the lobby is open late - maybe even 24 hours. It has souvenirs, snacks, ice cream, microwavable food, and cold drinks.

Mostly tourists staying here versus business travelers.

HHonors members get coupons for free bottles of water. No executive floor.

Great location close to Times Square and subway stop across the street. Really great service and rooms are getting a refresh. Good breakfast and a great bonus getting it for free if you have right tier with Hilton. Bonus that it runs to 1130 so you can sleep in a bit. They got us an early check-in on a cold and rainy afternoon which was a godsend after tramping around sightseeing.

Excellent experience at this Hotel.  Booked it with Hilton Points and was looking for something close to Times Square as well as the Javits center.  The entire staff was exteremely friendly and the service was excellent.  The room was great and better than what I was excpecting from previous Net York City stays.  The breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was very good also!  I have no complaints and will stay here again when in the city.  It was close to a lot a things we came to the city for.

Great hotel-great location.  Rooms are adequate size and include fridge, coffee maker and microwave which is unheard of in most NYC hotels...especially in or around times square.  Located on 8th ave this hotel is great for the touristy spots that times square offers, but you can get a really good meal-inexpensively one block over in Hell's kitchen on 9th ave!  

Oh and by the way, the staff at this hotel is the nicest I have ever encountered in NYC.  Usually hotel staff snubb their noses at the out of town guests...not this hotel!  By far the friendliest, kindest people.  We have stayed here four times now and it wasn't just one rare occassion that they were friendly-they are always wonderful.   From the doorman offering our kids a 'prize' for dancing in the middle of the lobby, to calling the room to make sure we are comfortable, to the great cookies they give you at check in, everything is great.  Cannot say enough!  Love this hotel!

Very convenient and pleasant stay thanks to the friendly hotel staff. The hotel is located on the opposite side of the street from the Port Authority. If you come out of it on Eighth Avenue make a left. The hotel is a less than 10 minute walk away and you can see the sign from a distance.  Upon arrival the bellman let us store our luggage since no rooms were available for early check in. However, 5 minutes after we did that the receptionist called to say our room was ready! The room was clean and exactly as pictured. Our refrigerator didn't work but we called front desk and got a new one in about 2 hours. The only slight issue I had was that the bed didn't have a fitted sheet on it but a regular sheet being used as a fitted sheet which was a little small and needed to be readjusted. Not a huge deal but noticeable. This gave me a reason to check out the mattress which appeared to be clean and in good shape so I stopped worrying. I guess I could have asked for the proper sheets but it wasn't a real bother. Overall, checkout was simple and we were even able to store our luggage again until our bus came at 3! The ability not to have to walk around with luggage for half the trip was a blessing and this free extra service from the Hilton makes me excited to stay with them again in the future! Beware of the sales lady or man in the corner trying to sell hilton packages, they are nice to get directions from though. Lastly, Great location everything is just about within walking distance.

Pro: Close walk to Times Square
Cons: Lobby is very small, when I arrived there were 3 people standing at the concierge, none of who said hello. Check in was with Nick, VERY unfriendly and really did not (or chose not) know much about the property. His standard answer was: "I don't know". Nice. Room was ok, standard HGI room. The bathroom was a bit dirty hence the 2 stars. For $300 a night, I think you can do better in the area.

Went to the Yoga Journal Conference last weekend.  The hotel lobby always had huge rows of luggage which made me feel as if I was at a place where schools took field trips.  The confeence has predominately women so there were long lines for each bathroom  which was frustrating because you had to miss the first ten minutes of each class if you had to use the bathroom.

Great location, close to two subway lines, which makes navigating the city so easy.  Close location was appreciated in the rain~  

The room was spacious and had a fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker.  If you're lazy (like me), you can pick up a complementary cup of Starbucks coffee in the lobby or make it yourself in the room.  The bathroom was on the small side, but it is NYC.  I'd request a higher floor to filter out street noise on my next stay.  All in all a good hotel for our quick stay.

I can't speak highly enough of this place.  I'm hard pressed to think of any complaints.

The location is great for a tourist, and the price was astounding (About $160/night before taxes and fees!), even for our stay over a holiday weekend.  The staff at check-in was very courteous.  When we tried to check in early, we were told that our room wasn't ready, but they'd be happy to give us call if we left a cell number with them.  Very small thing, but it's the little things that count.

Baggage porters were friendly, the concierge was eager to help with restaurant recommendations.  The room was surprisingly large, even by my midwestern standards (I was expecting something the size of the bed, and I would have been happy with it for the price we were paying!)

The little stuff that usually nags at a hotel were completely absent here.  Water was hot, the shower pressure was great, and the WiFi signal was strong, with a fast connection.

Next time we go to NYC, and I'll have a hard time to find a reason not to return to this hotel.

Stayed here this past weekend.  The hotel was very good.  The check in process was great, they automatically upgraded me to a deluxe room (which was on a higher floor).
Got free breakfast coupons for myself and the family and let me tell you, the breakfast at the restaurant next door (Pigalle) was really great.  Fresh fruit, eggs, egg whites, hard boiled eggs, french toast, waffles, AND pancakes.  Muffins, oatmeal.. etc etc etc.  Very fresh and pretty well prepared.  Probably the best hotel buffet I have had in all my travels.  Cute restaurant.  We were very happy with this.

The discounted parking for my minivan was $30 a night, great stuff.

The rooms. Pretty standard HGI rooms, being NYC these rooms were small and cramped, but getting 2 queens was a plus.  Hotel staff all were very friendly.

Beds were cheap and uncomfortable and the bathroom shower smelled a bit mildewy, but not too bad.  Safe and fridge in room were great.

Pretty standard HGI offering which is exactly what I wanted.  Did a thorough bedbug check and the room was pretty clean.

Even on the 11th floor you can feel the subway rumble under the building, but it wasn't too distracting. You can still hear a bit of street noise.  Get as high a floor as possible to lessen the problems.

Great stay, would definitely stay here again.
Thank you to the great woman who checked us in and hooked us up with breakfast and waters.  The Breakfast was icing on the cake for us.

Oh yeah, great location, 2 blocks from the madness of times square and a 10 minute walk to central park or bryant park.  Good stuff!

I stayed here back in February/March when I went to NYC to visit a friend.  He lives in Brooklyn, but I am much more comfortable navigating Manhattan by myself than I am Brooklyn, and I wanted something centrally located so I decided to stay here.

The price was excellent - I got a King Evolution Room (which is the same as their regular King room, if you were wondering) for under $200 a night.  After taxes (which I admit were insane) for two nights I only paid $435 - which I think is a steal for Midtown hotels.

The room was fantastic - nice and modern, nice furniture, a good amount of space (a rarity in Manhattan), flat screen tv, awesome desk chair, free wi-fi, etc.  The only drawback was that the bathroom was VERY tiny.  Also, the bathroom light is on a timer and while I was in the shower it went off - that wasn't fun, lol.  I had no problems hearing other guests and was quite pleased with the noise level overall - my room faced 8th avenue but I was 11 floors up so I didn't hear a lot of street noise.  (But I live in downtown Chicago and am used to it too, so I probably would have slept through it anyway.)  There was one incident with drunk people getting off the elevator at 4am and being loud in the hallway, but it wasn't a big deal and that happens at every hotel.

The location is great - it's close to all the subway lines, the theatres, great restaurants, and there's a Duane Reade a block away.  You couldn't ask for a better location.  Yes, this is technically Times Square but it's not directly in Times Square (it's a couple blocks over) so you don't have to put up with all the tourists unless you walk over to Broadway.

The staff was also great - they let me check in early on Friday with no problems, and were very nice the entire time.  After a certain hour they make you show your room key to access the elevators, which made me feel safe.

The next time I'm in NYC I will definitely try and stay here again.

Great location.  The room wasn't extravagant.  It had a microwave + mini fridge which was great for storing & reheating leftovers from pricey Manhattan meals.

Free wifi for guests.  We were on the 5th floor & didn't find street noise to be too much of a problem except there is a fire station a half block away so there was the occasional siren.

Bed was super comfortable, shower had good pressure.  Was very clean.

When checking out & asking how our experience rated, I said "7" - the guy at the front desk seemed displeased.  I didn't mean it as an insult.  It was a clean place to sleep at night.  A higher number would have meant a chocolate on my pillow, for pete's sake.

Your money goes a LONG way at this hotel.  

$150 -$250 a night gets you an actual decent sized room with nice furnishings.  No bed bugs, no soiled carpets.

Seriously, don't even think TWICE about making a reservation here.  They have done an AMAZING job.

You can't ask for a better location as a tourist.  It's located within walking distance to pretty much everything you'd wanna see in Midtown, and a good number of the city's subway lines run within a couple blocks of the hotel.

The staff is very courteous, everything was clean and new-looking, and the rate is VERY reasonable for Times Square.  I came here straight from a hotel on the Upper West Side that charged the same rate but didn't even have functioning plumbing.

I'll definitely stay here again next time I find myself in New York.

This was like a honeymoon for me and my wife. The crazy thing is, we just sent our last of 4 to college.  My wife has never gone to NYC before, so I wanted this trip to be special, and staying at this hotel helped make it that way.  The rooms were clean, check in-out was great, the employees were the BEST.  Charles and Ronald were wonderful in the lobby. They made us feel at home everyday.  They went above and beyond to make our stay a great one.  Thank you, also, to Larry.  Larry gave us insite and directions for each day's activities.  Without Larry, we would have waisted precious time.  He is the BEST!  The location is great, hotel is great, people are great...please everyone, trust me this place will not let you down!  Can't wait to go back!  Jim and Belinda from Florida

The rooms, nice and clean.  But the issue I had, was the down stairs of the hotel...it was kinda dirty.  
The hotel is located right in the middle of times square...so it was very busy.  We got complimentary breakfast...every morning we were there.  The food was good, but not work $28 per person.  (so glad it was free to us)

I come to Manhattan twice a month, usually for 4-7 days at a time. I usually just book whatever Midtown Hilton-brand property has the best price. I'm always glad when the Hilton Garden Inn TS is the hotel I've booked.

As a very frequent traveler, the most important thing for me is 1) the room is clean and fresh and 2) the room is quiet.

This location is always clean, the room & furniture is fresh and new, and I have never had a problem with noise - which to be honest, is unusual in NYC. Management is great - check in is quick and easy, I am often emailed prior to my visit to see if I have any special requests, and the bellmen are fantastic. You only have to look at the reviews on Trip Advisor to see the interest they take in keeping their customers happy - there are management replies to many of the reviews.

Thanks, Hilton Garden Inn TS! You are a top notch hotel.

The good thing about this hotel is that it's conveniently located near Times Square and the rooms are well kept and clean.

That being said, the rooms are by no means great. I would say they are fine, but no more.

My service at check in was fine (except for being hassled to enroll in Hilton Honors several times), but the service was all down hill from there.

I don't appreciate being eyed up by security every time I walk in and having to show my room key. I know many hotels do this, but it was the WAY they went about it that was very unwelcoming.

What really ruined this place for me was the door man wouldn't help me get a taxi. The door is automatic! What the heck do they pay the guy to do? Maybe he was the first line key interrogator?

Bottom line is the staff doesn't try a bit to go out of their way for guests or make you feel welcome. This hotel is not a good value.

I would recommend the Marriott Marquis instead, it's just a little more a night and has nicer rooms and top notch service.

You would naturally think that a downtown hotel in the thick of action would not care that much about your stay since they are 'conveniently located' and close to everything, but I have to commend this Hilton staff for keeping all of the key elements of a stay up to total snuff.

Yes, it is very convenient, take the subway from JFK with luggage and cross one intersection and your in the lobby checking in.

Clean rooms, micro, refrig, free wifi, good bed, and water pressure at the shower head.

What was especially great was the free breakfast (Hilton Honors) at Pigalle.  Full service, great breakfast that doesn't feel as though you are just among other tourists, service was great and for faster service sit at the bar and you'll get individual service without competing with other tables.
This not only saved $$'s but time.  We spent breakfast time mapping out our subway routes and places to see and do.  

Very convenient to Broadway theaters but not so close as to get neon light blinded.  

I left my spare cell phone battery behind and they followed up and sent it to me...that's good service!

It's a 3 star hotel.  This review is based on that.  It is an excellent 3 star hotel.  First off, it's very close to the Theater District, so it's super convenient if you are seeing lots of shows.  But, it's not so close to Times Square that you have all of the noise, crazy touristy stuff, etc.  Go a couple of blocks in one direction, you're in Times Square, but go a couple of blocks in another direction, and you're in Hell's Kitchen and it's not so touristy.  For this trip, we were going to 1-2 shows each day and proximity to the theaters was a must - this really fit the bill.  Also, it's not huge like some of the other nearby theaters (Westin, etc.), so you can get in and out of the hotel really quickly.  The rooms are nice and the staff is fine.  There are multiple juice bars nearby, which was a plus for us.  It's close to the Subway stations at 50th and you can get everywhere.  Also, it was nice and clean, which I take for granted, but I know it's not always the case.  I would stay here again for a similar trip and I recommend it.  PLUS WIFI is free!

Great location. Great room. Great service. Damn, I think I've found my go-to New York hotel.

I had a room that was facing the street, and it was really great to see the change of pace down there, from day to night. Room was uber clean, all the appliances were working...came with a flat screen tv (hello 21st century) and the queen size bed was uber comfy.

Really only a few steps away from Times Square. I loved waking up early in the morning, grab a cup of Joe, and head on out to the then empty Time Square and sit on one of those red chairs that they have laid out. For that few minutes, Times Square, one of the most busiest and popular areas in the world, was mine. All mine. Mwahahaha.

Central Park was a nice walk away as well.

What double double sold me was the service. We asked our friends to meet us at the hotel before going out at around 8 pm. At 8 pm, the front desk called us, and asked us if we knew the 2 guys that were waiting down at the lobby. We said yes and to send them on up. It's pretty great to feel secure and that they check with you first.

I went to New York last month for business. I was suppost to be in NY for one day. It turned into two days. A friend found a deal for me on hotels.com . I stayed at this hotel for one night and loved it. New York hotels are usually crappy. This was clean, near the subway, and centrally located. I needed to be in a hotel that was near restaurants and stores. The rooms were modern, CLEAN, and updated. I emphasize clean because I am super picky. This is unusual again in NY. The front desk and the gentleman assisting with bags were nice.The hotel will hold your bags after you check out. I love that... The price was great.

The only hotel I plan on staying in while vacationing in NY!!!

Being originally from NY and on vacation from Miami, I rarely stay in hotels and usually stay with family.  Seeing as this was my birthday vacation, I decided to splurge on a hotel on Times Square for a whole weekend.  Absolutely fabulous!!! This is the kind of hotel you think about when you think vacation.  Not too pricey and close to everything!  We walked everywhere and it was reasonably close, remember I'm from Miami and we don't walk!  

The room was big enough to fit 4 people - especially 2 girls who have to get primped up every night - without bumping into each other!!!  Very rare in NY hotels!  There was a desk, a flat screen tv, fridge, huge bathroom, and ample closet space.  Most importantly, no bed bugs!!!  The noise level was very small almost none.   BTW, the beds and pillows are super comfy!!!

The staff was also amazing!!! My parents had ordered wine & cheese for my arrival as a special treat and it arrived 10 minutes after we checked in.  And it was very yummy!!! (Per my mother, they helped her very much and it was not pricey).  They also upgraded my room stay and we got a high floor (in the 20's) with the most amazing view of Central Times Square!!!  The guys who help you with your bags are a wealth of information and are very helpful.  There was construction going on in front of the main entrance which meant an extra block to walk around, but we didn't even care because we were coming back to a cozy room.

Room service also fast! Everything we asked for came perfectly!

One complaint - bar is too expensive.

Great hotel!  We stayed on the ninth floor and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very attentive and courteous.  The only issue I had was that they were trying to sell their own timeshares or something like that at the front door.  Upon arriving, the sales pitch was on.  I am there to check in and hit the city, not be offered a $300 deal and then be pressured to buy.  Very big turn off, but not a deal breaker at all as I can easily say no and move on.  The location is great.  If you walk out the front door and go left, walk 4 streets and you are at the theatre disctrict.  You make a left and it is in the central part of times square.  You can basically get there in about 10 minutes of fast pace walking.

I stayed here over a long weekend in January, and for location and quality of accommodation it was great.  First, they made a great impression, the staff sent an email with a questionnaire a week prior to arrival. I filled out the form and sent it back, and everything I mentioned on the form was complete before arrival, it really expedited the arrival.

Upon arrival, check in was quick, and we were able to get in the room early. The room itself was large by NYC standards, clean, and had a micro/fridge. Other benefits were free wifi and a nice fitness room.  

Other pros to this locations, is obviously the proximity to times square, but it is also within a block of two subway lines.

There is also a restaurant downstairs, which accepts the breakfast coupons from the hotel, and they had a great happy hour 3-6 each weekday.

Overall a very positive stay, and would have zero qualms staying here again.

We stayed here for 5 nights.  
From the very minute we stepped into the hotel to the time we checked out, our stay was great.  
The front desk was professional and accommodating.  The cleaning crew and the rest of the staff were all friendly.  
The rooms were decent sized and clean.  They have a fridge and a microwave in the rooms.  Free wifi is always good too.  
The lobby area is not that big or fancy, but they have everything you need.  They have a little computer room where you can print stuff out and a little store with snacks and toiletries.
Pretty good location.  Everything is within walking distance.
Price was very good compared to other hotels in the area.  They also have a AAA discount!

I always have to say a little prayer before I attempt to stay at hotels in NYC because let's just say, my experiences have been less than stellar (to put it mildly).  I remember when I stayed at this hotel and was amazed at how spacious our room was for the price and location.  I've stayed at some pretty crappy NYC hotels for $150/night - you just don't get the same amenities or space in NYC as you would in other popular destinations... however, that is not the case with the Hilton Garden Inn!  

It's located near midtown not too far off from Broadway and Times Square and only a block away from the subway.  Not only is the place spacious and located in Central Manhattan, its staff are some of the friendliest people I've encountered in New York!  I'd be more than happy to stay here again if I'm ever in need of accommodations in the Big Apple.

So as one might guess from browsing through my reviews I spend a lot of time in Manhattan for work and have been looking and looking for a good hotel near my company's office with good rooms at a decent price.  And I've finally found it.

The Hilton Garden Inn isn't trying to be a high-end hotel, they're too busy being a good hotel.  Wifi is free, the rooms are way cheaper then anything else in the area - I paid $170/night for 5 nights instead of the $250-$300 other places nearby have charged.  The room was plenty big (at least by NYC standards) and the free wifi was fast enough to stream video.  

This is going to be my default spot for future trips.

Hotel service was very good with exception of the concierge both of whom seemed clueless about the couple questions I had.  Front desk was A+.

Rooms were nice.  Housekeeping took care of business.  There was significant street noise from my room on the 7th floor, but what are you going to do.  The roof bar was closed, bummer, but the bar next door was nice with live music one night we were there.

Location is perfect.  I would recommend this place to my friends.

Can't say there's a better value near Times Square. The rooms are clean and spacious, kind helpful staff, convenient location and among the cheapest price in the city. It ended up costing a little under $300 per night which was significantly less than nearby competitors.

It's honestly a gem and I'd recommend staying here if you're trying to find the best value. If you want to splurge for a night, then The W by Times Square is another good option, but it costs almost double and I don't believe it brings double the value.

We were there 12/15-12/17/13. Everyone was nice, room was clean and ready for us. We were given some coupons that were nice (used one at John's Pizzeria!). I have no problems with the hotel; I just wish a better restaurant was attached, not Pigalle. I will definitely consider returning.

Taking a cab from Penn Station where the cab driver yelled at me for using a credit card for a $5 ride, I arrived late the first night of my stay. On business. Two weeks on the road out east, absolutely exhausted.

Checking in late Friday night, I was gently told that my reservation had been canceled because the business credit card that my company used to reserve and prepay my room (for six nights) was declined (it had been compromised, closed with replacement in the mail.) the hotel was sold out. My personal credit card was maxed out due to a credit card unreleased hold placed at the hotel I had stayed at the week prior.

I had a melt down. Literally stood in the lobby sobbing. After an hour of calling the office manager, she got out of bed and tried to talk with the manager, but without the new card, she couldn't do anything. Calls and SOS texts to my boss were unanswered.  

Freaked out. Mental problem solving capacity was gone. After the rest of the checkins were taken care of, the manager came over and asked if I could get cash to pay for one night and she would find something for me. As I got the cash out of the cash station I had the image of 'Best in Show' where Catherine O'Hara needed to stay in a broom closet.

Somehow, a room was found. They trusted the whole fiasco would be resolved the next day. I went around the desk and hugged the woman and cried.

The next day., my boss called and straightened it out. The room was lovely, larger than a typical NYC room.

Clean, free water and wi fi. Every single staff is kind and warm. The second night of my stay,  a rowdy clan of unsupervised, screaming kids were in the room next to me. When I called the front desk to inquire about  changing rooms -hassle-they sent someone  up and asked the kids to be quiet. Then, they followed up an hour later to see how things were-better.

As a checked out, I realized that it's people who make the experience great-not rooms scented with orange and top shelf shampoo in the bathroom.

To be honest, the Hilton disappointed me at first.  I was traveling with a friend this weekend and arrived in the city while he was at work.  Because I was not on the reservation I was unable to check in early and had to leave my bags with the bellboy and kill about 2 hours by walking around the city.  I didn't mind having to check out the sites, but I was super tired from being up so early to catch my flight in and would have rather gotten a few more Zzz's than take on Times Square myself.

However, when we checked in, I was impressed.  Decent-sized rooms, an excellent view, a fridge and microwave, and super comfortable bedding!  The only complaint I had is that the bathtub did not have any type of tread in it to prevent from slipping.  One false move and that could have been a lawsuit!

Although I found myself on the Lower East Side visiting friends and being social about 90% of my trip I think the location of this hotel is clutch for tourists or those who want to explore Manhattan and all it has to offer!  The transit is ample, too, so whether you are a walker or prefer public transit you can be mobile easily.

Also, thanks to the staff for letting us check out an hour late (Saturday night was a rough night).

My suggestion is to the a West-facing view from as high of a floor as you can (I was on 15, the highest).  You'll have a beautiful and fairly unobstructed view of New Jersey!

The bellhop and the receptionist were nice and friendly but the actual rooms/hotel are pretty mediocre. I guess that's what should be expected from the lower-end Garden Inn franchise of the Hilton Hotels. The Hilton Times Square is much much nicer!

This place is really convenient to things (subway, theaters, not too far to the park) and maybe $100/night cheaper than the other place we were considering (Marriott Marquis).  We were worried the place would turn out to be secretly fleabag but it was really good -- free Internet (yay) and HDTV (double yay -- since we got in right before the Lost finale started).  

Rooms are plenty big -- we've stayed in tiny B&Bs where you can't even open your suitcase, and this place was more than ample with king bed and side chair.

Parking is right next door in your traditional semi-surly NY parking garage.  With hotel voucher we stashed the rental car for maybe $35/night.  (Note: The website had a "parking package" available which included free parking, but for our dates the AAA rate plus $35/night parking was actually cheaper.  Make sure to do the math.)

We didn't notice noise at all but we were pretty tired after making the most of our few days in NY.  The hotel is not directly on Times Square, which frankly is probably a bonus, since it is easy to walk to Times Square and yet your room isn't being bombarded by neon.  

For our next trip we might stay in one of the other areas just to see more of the city, but if we wanted to be near Broadway we'd totally stay here again.

The hotel's location was superb. Times Sq was around the corner and so were most broadway theaters.

The rooms were clean and spacious. Free wifi was provided. The front desk employees were super helpful, especially resolving a credit card issue I had upon arrival.

I found a good rate on a room here through hotels.com , and my son and I went to NY for a weekend to see The Lion King and enjoy some mom/son time.  The hotel is easy enough to find, and there is a parking garage right next door that will give you a pretty decent discount if you're a guest in the hotel ($30 per night...not bad by NY standards).  It's within walking distance of many things to do, including the theater district and lots of restaurants, and is clean and has all the standard amenities.   The lobby area is VERY small, and if you're unfortunate enough to get there (as I did) right behind a tourist group, prepare to be standing out on the sidewalk for a while.  

My issue is not with the hotel itself but with the management and staff.  I had reserved a room with 2 queen beds.  Check in time was posted as 3pm, and we arrived at 2:55.  I was told that our room wasn't ready yet, but that it would be ready in about 15 minutes, but they had a room with one king bed if I wanted that.  Since my son is 19 and hasn't slept with me since he was in diapers, this option wasn't going to work, so we waited.   An hour later, the room still wasn't ready. When I went back to inquire, I was told that they didn't know when it would be ready, but they could give me an "upgrade" to a single King (which I had already turned down), but that there was a pull-out futon in the room.  My son, whose patience doesn't come close to mine, said "fine, let's take it", and agreed to sleep on the futon, so we went up.  He said the futon was "pretty comfortable", but wasn't as good as an actual bed (duh!), but since we were only there for one night, it wasn't worth fighting over it.   Call me crazy, but I think that if someone actually reserves a specific type of room, the hotel should have that room available.  But maybe they do things differently in New York.....

The location is stupendous.  It is the most reasonably priced for value hotel in the Times Square neighborhood.  Made my reservations on Expedia and got a very good rate.  Only a block away from Times Square, and soooo sooooo close to all the theaters and restaurants made it the perfect location.  I loved that Central park was an easy one mile walk right down 8th.  We hoofed it over to the Met Museum and back and that was fine us, although I wouldn't recommend doing that with kids or the elderly.

Small room like all NY rooms, but cozy for two, wouldn't have wanted to cram any additional people in the room though. The room was nicely appointed.   Nice big TV, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and board, safe, alarm clock, nice selection of soap/shampoo, etc.  Bedding was comfy as well and room was clean.  Loved the complimentary Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea that is available beginning in the wee hours of the morning as well and the comfy sitting area.

The only snafu was a lack of hot water for a couple hours in the middle of the night.  Valet parking around the corner was convenient and rates ran the average for NYC.  Only problem is once you park, don't even THINK about trying to get your car out... it takes FORVER.  But public transport is literally a step away, so you don't need a car anyway, and the location is so good, chances are everything you want is right there anyway.

Wish there was a pool on-site, but hey, you can't have everything.  Absolutely would stay there again.

First visit to NY for my sister & I and we chose the Hilton Garden Inn due to price and location. Were worried that we may have sacrificed quality for price but...WE COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A MORE PERFECT HOTEL FOR THE PRICE! It was conveniently located a block or two from subway stations, walking distance to Times Square but not in the thick of the craziness of Times Square, one day we walked a block and found we were in the middle of a street fair...it was just perfect for our first time in NY. The hotel, room, bathroom in room, and staff were nice, there was a mini-fridge AND MICROWAVE in the room, and the size of the room was great for two of us! I stayed in another hotel a few days later for a work conference and although 5-star quality, the room was smaller and there was no mini fridge or microwave! Plan to stay here again!

Just spent the weekend. Staff was fantastic and the location was perfect. The room itself was smallish, but it's NYC; space is limited. Didn't see the gym. Attached restaurant was good, but not great. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel especially since the staff was awesome. Close to everything. You won't be disappointed.

I had the best experience staying at this Hilton.  I booked a room for my 25th birthday so I could go out on the town and then crash close by skipping the dreading late night ferry back to Staten Island.   There is a parking garage next door that has a flat rate of $30 for hotel guests.  Upon checking in, the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and explained to us that they even store your bags after check out if you want to spend the day in the city which is a major plus.  Our room was on the top floor and there was a dozen white roses, two champagne glasses filled with candy and a birthday card from the hotel waiting for me!  The room was super clean, king sized bed, large windows with not much of a view and the products in the bathroom were name brand (Neutrogena soap and Bath & Body Works shampoo and conditioner).  I had a good night's sleep, the bed was super comfy with lots of pillows.  The next day when we checked out we took them up on the offer to store our bags while we went to brunch across the street.  Make sure you get your parking ticket stamped by the hotel before you pick your car up so you get that $30 rate.

A great rate for the area and excellent staff. Being from San Diego and rarely going to the city, I was helped so patiently from the receptionist on how to get there from JFK and the desk staff was as nice as I've seen at a Four Seasons Hotel. Yes, the rooms are small but clean and large enough for our short stay of a few days. The location for  plays and The Daily Show was perfect for us. Thanks Hilton Garden for exceeding my expectations.

Got this for $140 on Hotels.com for a Sunday night.  The room is ok, not spectacular.  I did not have much of a view at all..  My view was an old bldg with broken windows and rusted A/C units.  Renting a room with a view is a huge plus in NYC.  I think it adds to your trip and next time I will do that.  But I couldn't complain too much for the price.  

There were a few problems though;
the floor looked a little dingy, the cable only carried a few unwatchable channels, there was hair in the bedsheets and a bath towel.  Bed a little too soft.  
Counter staff nice and knowledgeable.  Baggage check nice, and I liked the free computer usage we got.

Perfect.  Great rooms, great location, great value.

The hotel staff were friendly and ready to offer suggestions for dining, where to go and what to see and so on.  We were on the 15th floor with a decent view of the cruise ship terminal, and this hotel is amazingly close to just about anything you might want to be near - Central Park, the museums, all the subway lines so it's easy to get around, and a myriad of places to eat, drink, peoplewatch, whatever.

Parking is only $30/night which is a pretty good deal, actually - but the lot is separate from the hotel, it's not billed on your invoice.

Certainly this will be my first choice for a hotel in NYC when I'm there.

Service was exceptional from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. The room was renovated and very nicely decorated. We had a view of the city and it is 1/2 block away from Hell's Kitchen where all the restaurants are, it is also close to restaurant row and all the bars. 1 and 1/2 blocks away from Times Square and Very close to Central Park. The windows in the room are big, has microwave and mini fridge in the room. the bathrooms also look brand new. We could not have gotten a better hotel for our stay. LOVE IT!!

Stayed here on a business trip. On my first night here I couldn't sleep since I was still on west coast time. Decided to go for a walk to Times Square and back, this was around 2am. When I came back I saw another guest waiting in the lobby by himself clutching his cell. A woman in skimpy dress and crazy high heels came to meet him. They shook hands and got in the elevator I was waiting for and rode up with me. Really awkward ride for obvious reasons. When I got to my room I realized I forgot my keycard inside the room so I went down to the front desk for a replacement. Chatted with the night clerk for a bit. I joking asked him if he would take the over or under on a hour before the working girl came back down. He said under, probably closer to 30 mins. Had a good laugh about it.

I am liking this hotel more and more.

I never pay for my rooms because I'm always traveling on business, but I do know from back in the day of booking my own rooms that Hilton Garden Inns are usually a pretty good deal. I'm sure this one is too compared to some of the astronomical new york hotel prices i've seen.

I don't really care about the location either, I'm boring and when I'm in the city I go to work, go to sleep, go to work, go to sleep. But it's great because there is a ton of food places near by! I stay at Ink48 a lot too and that hotel is in the boonies.

I'm actually writing this review because Lauren [or maybe Laura] from Guest services really made my day and so I felt compelled to do something about it.

Now, I have friends who go to a hotel and complain about everything, not necessarily in hopes of getting something for free...but definitely WITH hopes of getting something for free. I never do this. I just feel awkward and weird and greedy. If I have a problem, I tell someone and hope it gets fixed and that's the end of that.

well, I check in at 2am [always fun] and I get a nice room on the 12th floor...with a non-working refrigerator. It's not a huge deal, I just have a couple of drinks I want to throw in, so I just go to sleep and tell my boyfriend to get it fixed the next day.

I wake up, go to work, come back exhausted, and not only do I find a working fridge, I find starbucks gift cards and a handwritten note of apology! It was definitely a fantastic little surprise and it just reaffirms why I LOVE staying at hiltons. The customer service is FANTASTIC.

I also love their hhonors program. Again, the customer service people there are the nicest, most understanding and accommodating people ever. Thank you Hilton!

Scored a great last minute deal on hotels.com . This Hilton Garden Inn stays consistent with the Hilton brand. Our room was clean, spacious, and airy. We had a microwave and fridge, free wi-fi, ample, new towels, and a complimentary USA today.  And on this recent visit to NYC with hot and humid temps, A/C was plentiful in the lobby, hallways, and our room.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.  Location is central, a block away from Times Square, and the subway is directly across the street.

I would definitely stay here again!

The Hilton Garden Inn Times Square is a great hotel.  The rooms have been newly renovated this year which made the stay even more enjoyable.  The location is pretty good.  I like that you're near subways.  The staff are all very friendly and helpful.  The one negative I have is that the WiFi which is very slow.  I always enjoy my stay here and plan to return next year.

I stay at a lot of Hilton properties,  but this is an excellent mid-tier propertty. It's a great location for tourists,  the staff is friendly, and the hotel is modern, clean, and well-maintained. While all NYC hotels are expensive, the wi-fi is free, we has an in-room refrigerator,  and they didn't charge for the first couple bottles of water. I would consider staying here again.

I was very happy staying here! Heard horror stories about hotel rooms in NYC, but this was a pleasant surprise! Easily missed entrance leads to a secure lobby on the 14th floor. Great views of the city! The bed was great. Good location. One subway stop to the Upper West Side where our daughter lives. Grand Central, parks, food, coffee, all near by. Hired car took 30 min is all to La Guardia. Nice to find complimentary bottles of water in our room daily. Would stay here again!

I would give a higher review, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, service can make or break a review.

The hotel itself is clean, and for the most part the staff were courteous and pleasant.

Upon check-in, however, I was waiting by the elevators for my husband with our luggage. Luggage that we carried from our cab into the hotel - not that I'm complaining, but I'm getting to my point. While I was standing there, I overheard two doormen complaining about how little someone had tipped them.

The same doormen who work by an automatic door, and did not even ask to assist us with our bags. They were clearly too busy complaining about a gentleman who only tipped $2 for directions. They knew I was in hearing range, and could not care less. It was almost as though they wanted me to hear their conversation as to bully me into tipping them.

Granted, I understand that they probably do rely on their tips. I'm not saying that their job is easy, and I'm sure they have to deal with their fair share of total jerks, BUT their conversation was wildly unprofessional and it left a bad taste in my mouth the rest of the trip.

Lets face it, hotels in NYC especially near Times Square are pricey.  Before my trip I pretty much looked up every single hotel in Midtown and the average price a nights was around $350.  That can burn a hole through your wallet really quickly!  I was grateful that my friend I was traveling with was a Hilton Honors member so we got a night free during out 2 night stay at this hotel.  Sweeeeet!

Location of the hotel is ideal, a block away from Times Square, 2 blocks away from Grayline's double decker tours and within walking distance to tons of places to eat/drink in Hell's Kitchen.

Our room was comfortable and very clean, with the extra perks of a mini fridge and microwave. Unfortunately we were on the 2nd floor so we occasionally heard the subway traveling under us.  The first couple times startled us, but we could sleep throughout the night.

We were very please with the service, everyone was friendly and exceptionally helpful.  We really appreciated that the hotel was able to hold our bags after checkout while we explored the city.

I have to say though, I was really impressed with the staff.  They were so nice and helpful.  I even accidentally left my engagement ring in the room and they got it for me and returned it safely.  Really top notch!!

The Hilton Garden Inn is a great place to stay. My wife, myself, and my 2 young children have felt welcomed and more than taken care of while we have stayed here. Raph and Shola have gone above and beyond in being kind my children and getting them even more excited about our trip. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable...plus the rate is very fair. Really happy with our stay so far!

Review of my stay in room 1129, 5/29/12-6/2/12:

LOCATION: On 8th Ave, it is close enough to the madness of the heart of Time Square on 7th street but just enough distance to allow for some breathing room.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  Standard but nice 2 queen beds, mini fridge, microwave, etc.  The 11th floor allowed for a nice view down 48th St.

PARKING: Convenient garage right next door that offers $30 per night charge after ticket validation.  Can be a little intimidating dealing with checking in and parking when you're not used to big city life.

HOUSEKEEPING: Room was pretty clean.  Had the usual hairs on the bathroom floor and an old water bottle and plastic bag were still under the bed from a previous guest but otherwise I was ok with it.  The caulking in the bathroom needs to be re-done as it has some mold forming.

STAFF: I got in late around 7pm so my check in experience was a bit underwhelming.  Although professional, the front desk staff (won't name names) was not at all friendly and should perhaps smile and address the guest with more than a nod as if to say "yeah, next"... It'd help greatly.  Fortunately that was the last negative experience I had and the rest of the lobby staff on subsequent days made up for it.  Maria at the Grand Vacations podium made each morning a delight as her smile and "good morning" started each day off right.  Although I didn't get her name, there was also another very pleasant woman (attractive with short blonde hair) whose smiles and greetings made our exits and entrances to the hotel very positive.

SUMMARY:  Loved my stay in NYC and at this hotel.  Would definitely return.  If there's anything else I can describe for you, I'd be happy to talk.  321-480-7756 Ken

As a Diamond I was hoping for a little more. Look, nothing special about points outside of getting a room in a pinch. Which was how I find myself here. Next trip I will go the Hilton. The room was fine, location was great. Clean, quiet, exactly what I've come to expect from Hilton as far as accommodations. The staff upon check in on Saturday, not so much praise and the reason for a 2 start. We're all busy, we all have careers, family, and responsibility. When I walk into your' business, it is your' business?? You are the one at WORK, try to at least act like you enjoy your' job, are happy to have customers choose your' Hotel vs. the 1,000 others in your' great city. Disappointing as an Honors member.

We checked in around 6 p.m. on a Sunday night. We specifically asked for a King size adjustable bed, but were disappointed to find out that they were in the process of getting rid of the adjustable beds. There was some kind of noise coming from the walls, like pipes being dragged along the floor and banged against each other. The front desk claimed they knew of no such thing going on, but it was impossible to sleep through. They allowed us to change rooms with no additional cost. Overall it is an alright hotel, but does not live up to its Hilton name. I would not stay here again.

Got the deluxe double queen size bed, and in fact, am here at the moment writing review for one night stay.  Staff is friendly, room was ready at check in, room size is great, but other aspects of room not super great.  Room looks renovated but not thoroughly: bathtub looks like it needs some recaulking and cleaning (moldy!), some of the paint seems to be peeling on the doors, and general cleanliness could be a little higher as I found hair in tub and on comforter. Mattress also sinks in some. Overall, rooms look like they can be updated further, so I rate this a 3/5.

We stayed in NY for 3 days during Easter break. This hotel is very convenience, center of everything. Plenty of restaurants, Time square, Central park, theaters...all walking distance. They have complimentary Starbucks coffee in the morning. Their beds is full size queen and firm. Staffs is very friendly and nice. I have nothing to complain.

I have had wonderful stays here. The management team has been so accommodating to me. They have gone out of their way to make me happy and I like that. This hotel is quite and away from noise and hustle and bustle of Times Square. I will stay here often because the staff has been so good to me.

We found the room to be clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is a 5 minute walk from Times Square and a short walk to lots of Broadway Theaters. We had a good experience. The rate was higher than what we're accustomed to, but I guess that's New York. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great location, within a block of the A-C trains, and only two stops from Penn Station, allows you to get anywhere relatively easily. Plenty of restaurants are within walking distance and you are only two blocks from Times Square/Broadway, so if you plan on catching a show this a decent location.

Rooms are modern, clean, and a good size for NYC. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. They will also hold your luggage, on your day of departure, for free.  Overall, would stay here again especially if I can't get the same rate of $159.

Great location, clean, friendly and helpful staff. We stayed only one night, but were very pleased by the service we received. Front desk took care of arranging cab to airport. 2nd floor, and was not bothered by noise, but we were so tired.... There was plenty of space in our double room too!! Just a couple of blocks from so many locations - metro, theater, Rockefeller center. I would stay again- but look for deals to cut your cost!

Everything was fine, except that the little shop in the lobby was selling stamps marked up beyond the face value. While I recognize that this is a legal practice, I think it's distasteful and below what I've found at most Hilton or Sheraton chain properties.

I emailed the Hilton Diamond customer service and received a respose stating that the vendor selling those marked up stamps would not be allowed to continue selling them above face value after they read my complaint. I can't confirm if this has actually happened since I haven't been back to that property, but I'd be curious if they really did do it. I'll have to drop in the next time I'm in the city.

I have gotten used to an incredible standard from Hilton Garden Inn, this location falls slightly short.

Not for service which was excellent and exceeded expectations as usual. Front desk quick, friendly and accommodating. Parking was validated at check in to reduce the 24 hour rate to $30, a bargain in this area. They also comp'd me a late checkout at 2pm.

The lobby is up to par, hallways and public areas also nicely decorated and well maintained. I arrived at my room on the 8th floor (a corner as requested) it was generally good but a few shortcomings immediately stood out. The bathroom was musty with just a hint of pee in the air; great. I avoided using the hotel supplied drinking glasses.

The ceiling above the tub was water damaged, a portion of the baseboard was completely missing, wallpaper and paint looked a bit shabby with poor patch jobs everywhere. The door frame was rusted with age and just painted over. My door hardware was loose. The tub had that strange stickiness indicating poor cleaning; I carry a pair of shower thongs for that purpose.  

Even with these shortfalls (I know there are some REALLY lousy hotels around town) it still gets a solid 4 Star "YAY" as a budget tourist property. Maybe I just got a room in need of renovation. It still had crisp sheets, a flat screen TV, microwave, mini-fridge, leather couch, and a room safe.

FYI for a better experience I recommend the Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th,  MUCH newer and nicer; Hilton NY on nearby Avenue of the Americas offers a better room as well.

But this hotel was must convenient to my jobsite and had no bedbugs, so no real complaints here. Once you stay at Hilton Garden Inn you do get spoiled as the standards are so high.

BEST HOTEL IN NYC!!!! When I came to NYC for the first time I stayed here and I did not regret it! The rooms are comfortable and surprisingly quiet for New York! Also it is in great proximity to the subway and Food Emporium Grocery Store! Sure it can be pricy, but for a comfortable clean hotel room it is worth the price!

This was my 2nd time staying here with a friend and I have to say the service has been consistently great.  The rooms are nothing spectacular but clean, decent size, bathrooms are good and showers work well (with good water pressure).  Our room even had a small fridge and microwave.
We had breakfast in the adjoining restaurant (Pigalle) and it was excellent.  Really great value (especially since we have breakfast vouchers). They have scrambled eggs and scrambled egg whites - both very fresh and not in the least dried out, some mini croissants, and muffins, pancakes, yogurt, fruit cups, and toast/bagels. The service is top notch and wait staff super friendly and attentive.  I highly recommend starting your day with breakfast here.

Location, location! Close to Times Square.
Add great rooms, helpful staff and the promise behind the Hilton name and you get a jewel in the city. Our stay here was not intentional (thanks Hurricane Sandy) but the stay was better than expected. Rooms are comfortable and we loved access to the Internet and in-room coffee.
As Hilton Honors members, we got breakfast in the adjoining restaurant. This was confusing, as our comp was for only part of the buffet. This is silly, either give us the whole buffet or not. Seriously!!! We really enjoyed and needed the Internet access provided free of charge in the business center.

I was really pleased by the hotel.  I was a little nervous on seeing the lobby, it was tight and didn't live up to the "glamour shots" on the Hilton website...my room was a highlight although the bathroom and door felt dated (the lock wasn't the best and if I was a female it would have made me nervous).  They do a so-so job of checking for room keys when you enter the hotel at night, so lock your door.

That said, the staff (especially the porter) was efficient and friendly.  The bed was comfortable and clean, and a great location and value.  I think you can find equivalent value in some of the lesser known boutique hotels, but with the Hilton brand you can count on this location if you don't want to spend top dollar.

We spent $350/room, pretty pricey but it's in Times Square and that's what it will cost you to stay in that area.
The staff at the front desk are OK. Not the friendliest types, typical of New Yorkers.  They seem to behave as if you're bothering them yet these are folks who work in the travel industry.
We're Hilton Honors members and when Hubby asked for the highest floor, they put us on the 15th floor in a corner room. What a mistake. We were right under the roof bar which played loud, thumping bass music all night when we got back to our room until 1:45AM.  I'm a light sleeper and couldn't fall asleep because of the noise (with ear plugs too!) until after 2:30AM.  I asked for a room change the next day and they moved us down the hallway but on the same side of the hall.  If you're going to stay on the top floor, ask for a room across the hall, not facing the street.  The problem with the 2nd room is that there was a humming sound everyday, similar to a washing machine or dryer going on all day long.  But, the noise wasn't that bad that my ear plugs couldn't block out most the noise so I could sleep.  Still, it's not a good room either when you're paying that kind of money.

They gave us a bag with a single serving bag of chips, a sm. bag of jelly beans as a welcoming gift.  The one decent thing they did was comp us for the 1st night's stay because of the loud noise from the roof bar.

The room was fairly large for NYC standard.  It was clean but not luxurious compared to the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA,  where we stayed the weekend before.
They offer free Starbucks coffee in the lobby in the AM.  If you don't get up earlier enough, they run out and remove the thermos.   The concierges were nice college-age students who either work part or full to pay their way thru school.  

It is really nice to stay here as it's walking distance to everything in Times Square.  You play for the "location, location, location" .

My biggest problem with this location is its proximity to a public spare that is rented out to the public.  For two consecutive nights there were events going on with a public address with very loud music.  While I realize the city permits allow this, I NEVER would have stayed here had I known this.  For this price range stay elsewhere.   As a Hilton honors member I'm very very disappointed in this location.

I stayed here for 5 nights (July 13-18). I didn't realize when I booked this hotel that it's my second time here. I love this hotel. The location is in the heart of everything. The rooms, although smaller, are very well appointed and clean. Service was great. I reserved a room that included breakfast every morning at La Pigalle. The staff there were wonderful and very attentive. I can't wait to bring my family to NYC and we'll definitely be staying at this hotel. It's the best location in the city! Wi-fi was a little spotty at times which can be aggravating, but not worth taking a star away. I enjoyed taking a walk every morning before training and every evening. Did I tell you I love NYC!!!

Very nice small hotel near Times Square, but a street away with less traffic. Room, bed, and bath very clean. Housekeeping team on the 14th floor seam to like their jobs and they are very nice.

The one bad mark about this hotel is that the restaurant is not part of the hotel. I like to grab a night cap and take it to my room to watch TV. They do not allow you to take a drink into the hotel from the restaurant and they are very adamant about it.

Loved this place! It was clean, the staff was professional, and I thought it was reasonably priced (with the discounted special) for a hotel in this location. It is steps away from the Carnegie Deli, so if it's your first time in New York or you have a craving for huge portions of meat, be sure to hit this spot. This hotel is pretty much smack in between Times Square and Central Park. I would say it's about a block and a half to three blocks away from the park, Times Square, and Hell's Kitchen. Everything you'd want to tour in Manhattan can be walked to if you're feeling ambitious and brought good shoes.
Overall, the hotel is very nice. It made the first trip to the city perfect.

Stayed here 12/19-12/22. Not exactly what I was expecting. I've stayed at multiple Hilton hotels before and have loved all of them, but this one is a tad disappointing.

First, the good.

Location! This hotel is right off Times Square, so it's close to everything. One block to the heart of Times Square and only a few blocks to Rockefeller Center. There is one subway entrance right across the street and another one a block over, so you're close to all major lines. There is a 24 hour deli across the street, so no matter what time of night, you can get what you need. The deli also sells $1 slices of pizza 24/7, so it's perfect for after hitting the bars. Speaking of bars, there are dozens of them and plenty of restaurants, all within a two or three block radius.

Rooms were spacious and clean. Cleanliness is most important to me and that was nice to find here. We requested to be upgraded to a king corner and were pleasantly surprised to find that we received the upgrade. Everyone at the front desk was also very nice and polite.

Now, the bad.

We booked the comedy package but didn't even receive the tickets until later at night on our second nights stay, so by then they were useless. I also found out the tickets were for Comic Strip Live and Broadway Comedy Club, which are notorious for having horribly unfunny comics and bad service. If you're going to offer a package, make sure your guest receives it and you should also offer it for a decent place, not a tourist trap comedy club.

We originally were only going to stay two nights, but decided to stay one more since it turned out to be our engagement weekend. The hotel was able to keep us in our room, which was great, but while rechecking in, we noticed everyone was getting packets of stuff. Come to find out we were supposed to get vouchers for water, a map, coupons, and a voucher for breakfast at their restaurant. We received none of that upon arrival. We finally did get two vouchers for water and breakfast, but that doesn't make up for our first two nights.

One night while waiting for me in the lobby, my fiancé asked the employee on duty if there was a bathroom he could use. The employee then proceeded to harass him until he proved he was staying at the hotel by showing him his key. Funny, since he was standing right there as we checked in the day before. That just seemed pretty rude to me. It's not like my fiancé was dressed in his pjs, he was dressed up ready to go to dinner.

Unless you get it for free, skip breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The service was horrible and the food was cold. We didn't even receive our coffee until after our meal came, and I had to ask for water 3 times before it was finally delivered.

It was very noisy in the rooms, since we were on the fourth floor. The windows did a decent job of cutting the noise, but if you're a light sleeper, it's going to keep you up. Also keep in mind there is a firehouse maybe a few hundred feet from the hotel, so the sirens were going off constantly. And the hotel sits on top of the subway line, so you can hear and feel when a train goes through. All of this would probably be a non issue on a much higher floor though.

My fiancé asked about the lounge on the 16th floor which we kept seeing signs for. He was told they were closed that week. Really, less than a week before Xmas?? Plus, we passed by the entrance to the lounge, which is apparently located behind the hotel, and it seemed open to me since there were people there, a security guard and a girl who seemed to be taking cover charges. Weird.

We probably won't be back. I expected much more from a Hilton hotel, and I really felt as if we were treated like second class citizens here.

Always top notch service. Recommended!    There are several exemplary staff who work in this facility, in particular an older Asian gentleman at the front desk is always the epitome of grace and hospitality.

Rooms are a very generous size - rare in NYC.

One bit of advice - unless the breakfast is free in Pigalle, dont go for it.  Mediocre at best and you can find much better for half the price at any number of places nearby, incl. the greasy spoon diner across the street.

If you're looking for a place to get a good night sleep keeping looking because this ain't the place. Fire station is in the next block and the sirens are all you hear throughout the night. We heard them several times throughout the night every single night. Everything else was fine, but really, I'm out all day and when I get to the hotel all I want to do is sleep. It didn't happen.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on 8th Ave. and 49th street for 6 nights from Sep. 30th to Oct. 6. It was my husband's and my wedding anniversary and our very first time to New York City.

I tried to budget as much as possible for our trip. Our nightly rate varied from the $100 to $200 range. Rates change daily so check back often. I also booked directly through the Hilton using my AAA card that allowed not only a discount but no cancelation fee prior to 24 hours of the stay.

Each time that we came and went we were greeted by friendly employees. The Hilton Garden Inn Times Square is not a fancy, posh hotel. Price, location, cleanliness, and customer reviews were more key to us since we knew that most of our time in the hotel would be for sleeping. This hotel is not a tall sky rise building. I think there were only a few floors above our room on the 11th floor. Having a city view was not as important to us as the other things that I mention in my review. The rate was competitive and fair. The hotel and our room was clean! Again, cleanliness is really important to me. The size of our room with a king bed was totally fine -- not too small and plenty of room to move around. It would have been nice to have more counter space in the bathroom but it was okay.

The location of the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square is magnificent! It's around the corner from Times Square and not too close to hear all the construction going on. It is also right around the corner of Eugene O'Neill theatre where we saw the Book of Mormon.

We stayed on the 11th floor and faced 8th Ave. Each  morning I heard some honking and the fire truck sirens from the fire station diagonal to the hotel. I got used to the honking and as for the sirens it gave me some piece of mind after 911 that they were close by.

Lastly, I accepted the Visa offer from Hilton. We charged the hotel fair on it and I  was able to earn a lot of points. I look forward to staying in more Hilton hotels in the future.

I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square.

It's a small room, but it's pretty much everything you need for a visit to New York.

It's just a block away from Broadway/Times Square, which is actually nice because it's a bit quieter and less crazy than it would be if you were staying right up in there.

The Gray Line bus tours start at the end of the block, and most things in the area are reasonably walkable. Central Park is maybe 15 minutes, the Empire State Building is about 20, and TV shows (Letterman, Colbert, Today) are all nearby.

The place is clean and seemed surprisingly quiet, at least for our visit. The front desk folks were very friendly and helpful, although the guy standing in the lobby (bellhop?) wasn't the best person for info (I asked how to walk to Times Square, and he directed me to the men's room).

While the rooms were small, there was a lot to appreciate. A decent view, WiFi included (!!!), fridge and microwave. The restaurant off of the lobby was solid, complete with a bar (although the bartenders there were never all that friendly).

We were perfectly satisfied with our stay here, and would gladly recommend it!

Clean hotel with large rooms and friendly staff all around. We stayed on the 2nd floor and could not hear our neighbors. There is a subway line nearby but the sound is no worse than light thunder in a storm. Nothing severe enough to wake you up at night. We barely heard activity from the firehouse next door. Hotel is in theater district and is nearby to many great restaurants and walking distance to times square and rockefeller plaza. I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit NYC. We came here for our honeymoon and this hotel made us feel right at home.

I have put my friends or childcare help up here at the hotel close to my home dozens of times. The price is very reasonable, each time it was under 150. The room was great, Internet was free, and it was relatively quiet given the location. My daughters babysitter loved the free food! They don't have room service or any of the other luxury reasons that you might like in hotels in the area, but you aren't paying for that either.

They have frequently let me use their maildrop :-)

Overall this is a great spot, a welcoming environment, pleasant people and not highly overcrowded. I have been very happy with all of the experiences here.

The accommodations were adequate but very noisy! I could hear the subway all night long plus the sound of people coming and going into and out their rooms. The sound insulation was either not installed or useless if it was. True, the location is very good since the hotel is close to the bustle that is New York City but you'll be too tired to explore anything since it's impossible to get a decent night's sleep. Stay somewhere else where it's quieter and travel to this area instead. Maybe the experience is different on the top floor. (?)

The staff are generally friendly and I appreciated the in-room refrigerator. My room was clean and nothing was broken. WiFi is fast enough for general web surfing and the lobby gift shop is open 24 hours for that late night snack and bottle of water.

I stayed here for one night on my work's dollar. There's no way I could afford a place like this.

Stayed here for 5 days and overall the stay was good. Rooms and beds were comfortable and most employees were helpful and cheerful.
It's just the little things that are important while staying in a hotel.
There were 4 girls and of course we needed extra towels so every day we needed to call and ask for more towels because housekeeping wouldn't leave the amount of towels they took away.
I went down to get coffee ten minutes  before 10:00 and they were out of decaf so I told the guy and e said what is there is all you get the coffee ends at 10:00. Also, the trash was overflowing with spilt coffee and trash.
Our final day we asked for a luggage scale and they said they didn't have one but we could take our luggage to the gym and use the scale in there. In the mean time he opened a storage door while I was standing there and what did I see but a luggage scale hanging on a hook. These people are so lazy!
We asked for transportation to the airport so they said that we would get this SUV that was out front because there was 4 of us with a lot of luggage. While we were waiting for them to get their act together another employee gave our car to anther guest. They shoved us into a small hatch back cab squishing 3 of us in the back with one of us with crutches and a leg brace on.
The management seems to care what goes on in their hotel . They offered us free breakfast vouchers after the towel incident, I think they just need to work on their employees customer service skills.

We were looking for a hotel with parking and found this place that offered validated parking for $30.00 (24 hrs) and it is centrally located in Times Square. Walking distance to many of the tourist spots and the subway is right across the street.

We were able to check in early at 12:30 with no problem, and we were given two floor choices - second or third floor. We chose the second floor facing the street. Let me just say that it was a nice, clean room with two double beds but you can hear the train roaring below you every 10 - 12 mins. So if you are looking for a good night's sleep then I suggest requesting a higher floor. Or make sure to bring earplugs and perhaps some sleep aid. When it was time for bed, I used my earplugs, took a melatonin, and I was out for a good 6 hours. My friend however, had a hard time sleeping.

Do not expect to watch TV either.... only one channel worked which was Lifetime. Of course we weren't there to stay inside and watch TV all day but it would have been nice to have something to watch while waiting for my turn to use the bathroom.

The staff was super cool, everybody from the front desk, bellhop, housekeeping, and concierge.

Not sure if we will return to this hotel on our next visit to NYC but only because we like trying different hotels.

My husband and I stayed here 4/25-4/28 and enjoyed our stay. The check in went smooth and we even were referred to a few nice eating places. Mike was able to give us information on a Thai restaurant along with a steak house. Our room was nice and large enough for us to be comfortable. The concierge was extremely helpful and provided us with directions to a few places we wanted to visit. We had absolutely no issues and nothing but good things to say about this hotel. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone that would like to stay in Times square at a decent price and nice sq ft. We would stay here again if we return to NY.

*some staff was nice; but not the front desk staff. Short and rude when you ask a questions.
*No wine glasses or glasses at all. Apparently they partner with the restaurant next door but can't bring you a class when you need one...weird
*On top of that the restaurant staff is VERY rude. No "hi how are you" or "have a good day". No manners at all
* my hotel blanket in the pull out sofa had holes in it. Looked like cigarette burns
I honestly wish I could give the hotel more stars but rude staff within the hotel and the restaurant you associate yourselves with really brings it down.

I booked here because it's a smoke free property, which was politely reminded to us at check in. Unfortunately they leave the smoking station right by the front door so you get to enter and exit thru clouds of nasty cigarettes. I asked why they let smokers stand at the entrance and reminded them why I chose them, a non-smoking property. The manager stated that is how we accommodate smoking guests and that the butt can is at the edge of the property line (5' from the door). I reminded them they said smoke free property and the manager reminded me of the smoking guests they need to accommodate. OK Hilton board room district superviors you get 1 star for making your check in staff reek of and breathe 2nd hand smoke. Five toilet bowls and negative 6 stars for the bean counter hired from motel 6 that put 1ply toilet paper in the bathroom (really? at a Hilton?). Fortunately a Rite Aid is 2 blocks away. Smoking at the door on a smoke free property is as oxymoron as Hilton can get.
The staff from entry, to front desk, and house cleaning were excellent, they get 5 stars and, if I had my way, oxygen masks. Upper management fire the motel 6 guy from your staff. Thanks.

Excellent facility and staff. Try to get as high as possible to avoid the street noise. As well as subway vibration

Anyone complains about these items - they forget that this is NYC!

Breakfast buffet was nice and had coupons for being a diamond member . This saves $22.00 per person per day.

My wife stayed at the Waldorf Astoria a few months ago - which we call the Moldorf at this point.  She prefers this place way over the other. And at least 50% less expensive.

Going to New York City = stay here

Great price/room size/location/ value proposition at an excellent location. I'd say it's a middle of the road, clean and pleasant hotel. I prefer the Hilton Midtown- it's more upscale and roomier for not that much more money, depending on the season and availability..

We booked a couple of nights here on the way back through from New England. As we pulled up (in our own vehicle) it was relatively easy to get access to the front desk. The check in staff were very nice and helpful. The bellman helped us unload out truck (a task in itself) and get to our room.

Because the hotel is located on the heart of Times Square there's obviously not a parking lot. However, there is a parking garage next door for a flat rate of $42 per night. Because we had a huge SUV we had to park down the street at the Hampton Inn parking garage (all valet) and it's $55 a night for oversized vehicles.

The hotel itself is well kept and clean. The rooms tend to be a bit small which is to be expected in a downtown city hotel. There is no pool but there is a fitness center available. Breakfast in the morning can be had in the cafe adjacent to the lobby and it's a hot buffet with cold items as well. If you don't have a voucher breakfast is $14.50 per person.

Overall, I really enjoyed our stay here and would consider coming back again. It's a big plus to be right on 8th ave!

I like this hotel.  It is very clean and perfectly situated.  The beds are super comfortable and didn't leave me longing for my own bed at the end of the seven night stay.  TV includes HBO, and the phone in the room provides free calls of under 60 minutes to toll free numbers which actually came in really useful during my stay.  Housekeeping staff are polite and friendly and do a good job.  My room included a safe, microwave and fridge - all of which come in very useful during a stay of any length.  My stay was in a good sized room on the 14th floor.  

At the time of my stay the website was advertising that guests had access to coffee pots in the lobby.  This service has been discontinued.  A coffee was machine placed in my room about half way through the stay, so I can only assume they were still in transition during my visit.  

I am deducting one star for the lack of coffee pods (1 is not enough) and for a three day wifi outage.

3.5 Stars.

Clean room. Well stocked. We booked on Thursday for a concert. We were out all day prior to the concert. The room was a decent size. Check in staff were nice. We were placed on the 2nd floor facing 8th avenue.

Horrible. We should've asked to switch rooms. No rooms should be allowed on the second floor. So noisy...light polluted. Thankfully they had blackout curtains. That did not stop the noise from the subway station right around the corner. I guess I should've used the ear plugs provided? Sleeping was not an easy task. Next time we'll request a higher floor.

Being close to Times Square and the stations made everything easy as far as traveling. Julius "chocolate" the bellman was kind enough to hold our bags while we got breakfast.

Overall great hotel. We'll definitely be back. Just request a higher floor.

Amazing staff upgraded us as we were just married! Everyone who works here is top notch. It would be 5 stars but the bed was quite hard, which made it difficult to sleep. Great location of you need to be in TS.

Staff was helpful and rates were reasonable considering you're in Midtown.

Cute and snug little hotel - like everything is literally snug. It's all in the right place, at the tiniest it can possibly be - the lobby, the lifts, the rooms, the bed, the toilet, the desk, the closet - it's really like an efficient ikea-style-maximise-amount-of-rooms style hotel.

But you know what? We loved it. It was a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle - the room was always warm and welcoming when we came back, we barely heard a peep from down below (in fact we opened the window at times to try to hear some of the infamous Manhattan traffic). The air conditioning did its job in under a minute (mostly due to the tiny room size) and the bathrooms were on the luxury side.

I'd highly recommend this hotel - it's no fuss, but for the price its good value. It's modern and everything works. I'd most definitely stay here again (if I'd stay in Times Square), it's right above the subway and walking distance to almost any amenity.

Okay, I am going to give 5 stars this stay, but I had a separate occurrence that would have given them 1 or maybe 2 stars. But to be fair, this stay gets 5.

The hotel is perfectly located. You are able to walk anywhere and I sure did. I arrived very early and I had a killer migraine. They let me check in early and get a room with a quick nap before my Broadway show. I was so thankful! I am a diamond member and was given coupons for breakfast (saving 22 bucks) including the day I arrived early. The Wifi is slow but free, so can not really say anything.

Every staff member I encountered was extremely nice and helpful, though some more than others. The room was really large I thought for the city and very clean. Do ask to be as high as possible for noise sake, but remember you are in NYC.

FYI this hotel is directly next to a NYFD station that goes 24/7. Keep that in mind.
