Loved the stay, very clean and close to everything. The shower is great, The renovations aren't that big a deal unless you are super picky. Great view of Times Square

Good location. Front desk staff friendly. Housekeeper staff wonderful. First floor doormen were all pretty good.... Except one. Because of how narrow the street Novotel TS is located on our taxi pulled up 10 metres shy of the door. We asked a bald doorman wearing a hat if he could roll a trolley over to where our taxi was as we had a large amount of suitcases. He replied no and that the taxi would have to pull right in front of the door. This meant we had to wait 10 minutes for the taxi to move 10 metres (trucks, other vehicles blocking the way). The next day we asked a door man to help bring a trolley for two pieces of luggage my sister was moving to her NY apartment. The same doorman came and wanted a tip from our floor to the lobby and then from the lobby to the street level. Had he tried to be nicer or served with a positive attitude I would have felt differently when tipping him. Being an employee of the Accor and Novotel brand I would have expected better of the staff especially a Novotel located in the heart of New York. His unprofessional level of service will definitely not be forgotten.

I loved this hotel they can't help how the other boarders are. The renovated rooms are awesome and have a double headed shower. It's clean, comfortable, and a good size. I would definitely stay there again.

Fun hotel.  Modern. Sleek. Clean. Great location.

The staff -- most people were great, some not so much: the concierge, baggage and transportation folks were indifferent and nonchalant. The front desk, bar, and waiter services were great.

Weirdness -- no top sheet on the beds, just  an overstuffed duvet.  I doubt that they change the duvet cover every day, and can only hope that they change the duvet cover for each new guest... but one wonders.

The duvet is very thick, and I became overheated under it.  So after removing (kicking off) the duvet, and laying there without any covers,  I got cold as drafts from the wall to wall windows swept across the room. Eventually, I worked out the right combo of extra pajama layers and thermostat adjustment to sleep on what was a comfortable bed.

I brought the top sheet issue up with the front desk. They were thoroughly familiar with the complaint as they had heard it many times before. Yet, they could offer no remedy.

Kids loved the Xbox in the lobby.  Wife liked the hotel quite a bit.  For my money (the hotel is reasonably priced), I want a clean top sheet.

This was my first trip to NYC.  I wanted to make sure that I picked the right hotel. I didn't want my first trip to be a disappointment.  I skimmed through the bigger name hotels in the area.  But for one reason or another, those hotels didn't quite have right NYC swagger.  The photos posted on their website did not disappoint.  The staff was friendly.  The elevators were not slow as some others mentioned in their posts.  I was a bit worried about that at first.  But it was not a problem at all.  The room was a decent size and had a nice view.  And it helped that it was conveniently located to many hot spots.  I will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful room with comfortable king bed, convenient chaise, closet with drawers, and decent-sized bathroom. Bathroom and room itself were larger than I expected for manhattan. Quiet room but I was on a high floor at the end of the hall. Docked a star because the service was lacking -- maid service was snippy when I asked for a new iron because the one I had had something melted on it, there was an all-night room service menu but no number to call much less a breakfast or drink menu.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 days while on a recent vacation to New York. Overall, it was very nice. We had a newly renovated room with a view of Times Square. The service was prompt, the room was clean, and the elevators were quick. We were disappointed in the lighting however. It provided for a nice ambiance but was really too dim to allow one to dress and groom in the morning. Also, we had wanted to stay in one night, order take-out, and watch a movie. The hotel did not offer an on-demand movie service or even a DVD player.

Front desk staff was not professional and courteous as a guest would expect from a hotel of this status. First, the ront desk agent did not greet in accordance with the standards of hospitality business. Secondly, when reminded the special request that was done during reservation, his response was that we should be thankful for being able to check in so early, i.e. 12:30 pm. After checking in to the room, when approached the same from desk representative that we would be prefer a room on higher floors, he rudely said that we should bring our suitcases back and wait until 3 pm to see what's available. Also he added that the room, which was given to us "so early", would be "given to someone who really wants it." Later, I asked to speak to front desk manager but was told that he was eating and would call us to our room, which he never did. Working in a hospitality industry and traveling extensively, I've never encountered this kind of quality of service from a 4-5 star hotel. The pros of the hotel were a beautiful and modern design, clean rooms and great location. I'm afraid I can't say the same about the staff.

Finally, a place that is in a great location, has friendly staff and the rooms are spacious, updated and clean!  I would of of given this place 5 stars if there was free wireless...

The hotel lobby is awesome!  Lots of cool accents, action and views.  They have touch screen multi game tables, 4 mac computers, 2 x box's, a photo-booth and funky lights everywhere.  The lobby serves breakfast in the am for $28.00 per person and turns into a bar with dinner at night.  It can get busy but is lots of fun!

Our room with two double beds was located on the 29th floor where we had views of Broadway.  The room is decorated beautifully, clean and spacious.  It comes with a rather large desk, bedside tables with plugs, a good size closet, TV, safe and mini fridge.  The bathroom holds a rain-shower, big plush towels, light-up mirror and hairdryer.  I could only find a small amount of mold near the corner of the shower stall.  Other than that, our room was perfect!

We booked this hotel through Bookling.com at a fantastic deal.  It ended up being $389.00 for two nights including tax.  We were able to get parking at $30 for 24 hours too.

I would highly recommend this hotel and only gave it four starts due to the lack of free wireless in your room.  They do offer free wireless on their 4 computers in 20 minute intervals but that is very annoying when your here on business.

GO!  You will not be disappointed, other than the free wireless!

FYI, I stayed at the Hudson 2 months ago and would choose NOVOTEL over the Husdon any day...

Stayed here for a quick business trip, and so glad I did! The room was excellent; clean, neat, and spacious. The bed was large, the pillows like clouds. My view from the room was of a backstreet, but luckily I wasn't there to stare out the window. Ample closet space, safe and mini fridge in room. Large HD tv. The bathroom was my favorite part: big, floor-to-ceiling glass wall with waterfall type shower head. Modern sink. Simply luxurious.

The hotel lobby starts on about the 10th floor? It gives the hotel restaurant a pretty wonderful view of Times Square. Food was affordable (dinner mains cost $20-26) and delicious. Cocktails are pricey ($16) and taste pretty average. Breakfast was buffet style, with something for everyone.

Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again!

For a hotel in NYC and right next to Times Square, I thought it was as good as it gets.  Service at the hotel was fantastic.  The gym was nice and had all the equipment and weights you need.  It is 2 blocks away from the A,C, and E subway line which takes you straight to Brooklyn.  We booked our rooms through Priceline and stayed 2 nights for a little over $200.  The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a bar in the lobby.

We booked this hotel through expedia well before we knew there was going to be "renovations." After reading the recent (negative) reviews, I was very afraid that our experience would be less than pleasing. I was wrong!

This hotel is anything short of bad. We paid a little more for a times square view, and it was well worth it. Even on the 11th floor, our view was directly in front of times square.  We enjoyed sitting by our window and looking at everyone that passed by. Great way to people watch!

Clearly the hotel has yet to be finished but I think when it is, it'll be fantastic. We never had a problem with the elevator wait either---for us, it came very quickly everytime. And they have a fantastic staff on hand. My boyfriend left his wallet in the dining area with well over $100 in it, and the concierge called us to let us know they found it without ANYTHING missing. I'm impressed!

    -wonderful/helpful staff
    -very comfortable bed
    -spacious room
    -fantastic view of times square
    -mini fridge in our room
    -mini safe in our room
    -excellent location in times square

-the sky bar hasn't finished yet so we didn't get to experience the dining experience at the hotel
-the lobby isn't on the street level, you have to take another elevator to get to the lobby
-no vanity area in the room, just a large mirror to the side of the desk WITHOUT proper lighting

If we were to ever come back to NY, this would be our to-go spot in times square.

My favorite hotel in New York. The staff is amazing and the location is unreal.

I've been there a total of 3 times and will be traveling there again in two weeks.

As soon as you walk outside, New York City hits you right in the face. What more can you ask for? If you can, book a room in this hotel!

Terrible service and serious sanitary issues with food service delivery through room service. Health department violations and a general lack of concern from management. We moved hotels but would be interested to see how many customers have food borne illnesses during there stay. We notified the New York City Health Dept and intend on following through on this situation.

Nice hotel ideally located a short walk from Times Square. Great views of Times Square and easy to get to.

Odd set up. You have to go up a lift to the reception then a separate lift to the floors.

The interior is clean and very modern. It's very lovely and vibrant.

Don't try and check in early though as you'll be asked to come back.

A very modern hotel, centered in the heart of the city. Very clean and staff professional and friendly and great service too. Loved the panoramic view from the restaurant over looking Time Square. Plus stepped out onto the terrace and enjoyed a glass of wine with my daughter. We also enjoyed our morning brunch and I highly recommend the salmon egg Benedict. Also loved the tasty jalapeño cornbread there. Service was excellent too.
I will be going back here for sure, such an amazing place highly recommended.

There's an restaurant café at this location that's suitable for both casual and semi-formal brunches or dinners. The food (main courses) are reasonably priced, but the appetizers were pretty expensive. We didn't order drinks, but the bar at this location was also quite classy looking. From the restaurant, you can get a beautiful view of all of broadway and Times Square!

    You come here for...

    The view....
    A cozy bed...
Yummy room service breakfast and coffee...mmmmmmmmm
An amazaballs rain shower with the Delta hand held shower head that is directly facing a mirror so you feel all sexy and whatnot...
The technologically obsessed design of the lobby...
    The dining...
    The fire pit terrace...

You are only minimally disappointed by...

    The scratchy towels...
    No robe...
The crappy in room coffee that somehow gets dispensed by a Keurig only half the times you try..
The face that there is no sheet between you and the comforter and the fitted sheet does not cover the mattress all the way...
The hard as a rock chaise that has the nerve to look so inviting..
    The empty minibar..

You come back, and you fall in love again with Time Square from a comfortable, noise-free distance .

Picked this hotel purely because I've had previous experience at the Novotel in Bangkok, and was not disappointed. My mom and I came for 2 nights to see the city on a quick spur of the moment trip and this hotel was in the PERFECT location.
About a 10-15 minute walk to Central Park, same distance to Times Square...a quick 2 minute walk to the E train on the subway and you're down to visit Ground Zero in less than 30 mins.
Definitely try the food at the hotel bar restaurant, the crab melt and corn chowder soup was absolutely delicious...I had it twice!
A little pricey but you get what you pay for. The rooms were clean, modern and had all the upgrades. My ONLY complaint would be that there's no free wifi in the room...I believe it was $10 a day, not that bad but would be nice to have it for free when you're paying that much for the room. There was free wifi in the lobby though.
Staff were SO helpful and polite, from the
Front desk to the concierge and even the doormen, everyone was so nice.

I've stayed at a few hotels in New York City and this is my favorite so far!

We booked our rooms through Southwest Air and received a decent discount.

Arrived at 6am the day of our reservation and the front desk generously allowed us to check in early to rest. Hotel is perfectly located with subway access one block away on 50th or 7th. Times Square is a 5 min walk.

Rooms are very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Views look down on Times Square so it's a great location if you're planning to come to NYC for any big events around the area. Bathroom was very nice and clean although the plugs did not work so I had to do my hair in the living space.

Got room service from Supernova, and the food (while a little pricey) was tasty! Got the Lobster Mac/Cheese, Filet Mignon, and Salmon.

I partially booked this hotel because I wanted a place with a great photo spot for our engagement photos. The management was so generous and kind about allowing us to shoot photographs on the patio, in the lobby, and by the bar. If you think about doing this I recommend calling and letting them know in advance.

The views are excellent but, for real, what would it take to get some service? Why is there one bartender working at 6:30-8pm?

Eventually 2 bartenders were put on staff, but they seemed stressed and were still hard to flag down. They also messed up our food order by missing the burrata dish.

Prices are very high, but I suppose that comes with the location.

I found the food a little weird. The burrata with artichoke was the best, but the sausage dish's flavors were strange, and Asian chicken morsels tasted microwaved.

Great location and great live DJs, but I really wish the service was two or three notches better.

This hotel is clean, has a newish feel, and offers some nice outdoor space.

We didn't find this to be a particularly warm or welcoming hotel. Staff seemed indifferent and rushed. For the price, the hotel lacked charm. Bathrooms are simple, rooms are cozy, as expected.

We wouldn't avoid this hotel, but we have no desire to stay in Times Square again -- the prices are too high and the attractions are limited.

I came here for brunch and the view was AMAZING! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the classy layout. No matter where you sit, there is a perfect view of the city and the outside terrace is open afterwards to enjoy more drinks.

I ordered the pancakes for brunch and they tasted like they were pre-made microwavable pancakes. Not happy at all with that! Nothing else came with the pancakes which was disappointing but luckily I ordered a side of eggs that came with hashbrowns that were good and filled my appetite. The mimosas were good and the server kept them coming. We also got bread before brunch started and the jalapeno cornbread was pretty tasty. With our meals, we got a side of chocolate and regular croissants (yum)!

The service was stellar! Our waiter was extremely personable and nice.

Totally renovated hotel in a good spot close to Times Square and Central Park.

The rooms are good and work nicely. We had a room on the 27th floor with nice view over the city. No complaints from the rooms or interior. We liked them (there is a fridge, safe, iron etc in the room).

However, there are three things I did not like:

The Lobby Bar - very expensive. I understand the lobby bars are not the cheapest places to enjoy few mojitos, but this was surprisingly expensive.

The breakfast - as other guests have noted, this just isn't working here. For a hotel this size, the seating/space for breakfast is way way too small. Also we had to wait to be seated for a long time (10 minutes +) even thou there were empty tables in the area. What?! We could have gone there to sit down and wait for the coffee/tea sitting in place.

The price of the breakfast is $25 + tax per person. Plus tip. this ads to some $30 per person for the breakfast. What? I can understand the tips in dinner restaurants but in a hotel breakfast? Mark me a horrible European and uncivilized thug, but I felt tipping the staff after the very pricey and not so well run breakfast place just didn't make any sense. So I didn't tip. And yeah, I do hate the mandatory tips which just seem to be added into everything in this country not depending what kind of service you get.

You can get a better breakfast deal and quicker service in any of the Deli's that are next to the hotel, just a hop over the street (there you land roughly $20 per person, depending what you want to have of course).

The wifi. Yes it worked, but you get three devices with one code. We have phones, ipads and one computer so three people have total of 7 devices. I can't understand such device limitations at all, they are just plain stupid. I can't understand why they have been made in the first place. I DID get a new additional card so we could get 6 devices online, but this was after asking the manager and I think the Accor platinum card might have played some role here.

Thus I give three stars. 4 stars for the hotel rooms, 2-3 stars for the other stuff.

However, I would come for the second time. I just have to adjust my expectations and after all, a hotel is a place to sleep and keep my stuff (and get the wifi :-) . It served this purpose well.

If you are going to Times Square NYC, and you want to stay in an amazing place. Look no further!! This place goes above and beyond and it's beautiful! We are from Portland, Oregon and we have west coast expectations, we had requested a room with a view of Times Square and we got it! They listened and they followed through, what more can I say?
We are here for a convention at Javits center and its an easy 30 min walk from the hotel to the event. I'd book this place over and over again. A great hotel= a great trip!

What an AMAZING experience! The customer service was delightful from the front door to the lovely bar. One night I splurged and ordered room service champagne-and the adorable man who delivered it made my heart melt! The sweet kind nature of everyone truly made the experience 5-star.  The rooms, lobby, and restaurant were tastefully decorated and upscale, but the customer service is unbeatable. Novotel is classy & a walk away from time square, broadway theaters & some shops.

As soon as you enter the hotel you'll be welcomed with this distinct sweet smell all over the entrance & lobby. Novotel has a bar/restaurant and a balcony overlooking time square, colorful & modern ambience.

The staff are friendly & the rooms are clean, quite spacious & nice bathrooms.
The only lacking detail i noticed was that there are no microwave, coffee maker nor even a mini bar (no snacks/bottled water) in the rooms which is more convenient & common in other hotels. They have a mini safe though!

Otherwise, it could have been a 5 for me. ;)

Scored a good deal on this hotel on Hotwire and really enjoyed it.

Firstly, the hotel is pretty huge and has a lot of fanciness around. From the lobby to the lounge, it's all very modern and flashy. Smells great with fresh flowers sending lovely scents into the air. It was too cold to take advantage of it but the cool outdoor patio was also a nice touch. I could definitely see myself returning to enjoy it on a warmer day. Also the location is excellent. When we come to NYC it's usually to do up broadway and so this location is clutch for that. A few blocks from the TKTS booth and walking distance to all the theatres. Very nice. Also, since it's in Time Square there are tons of subway stations around which makes getting all over town very easy as well. We could be in different neighborhoods around Manhattan in just 10-15 minutes if we caught the right train.

The room we had was very comfy with a king sized bed and a great view of the city. The decor is modern and I'm not always the biggest fan of that, to be honest. Sure--aesthetically it looks fantastic. But functionally? Kind of a pain. Low light makes getting ready once it's gotten dark tough, the "night stands" on the sides of the bed are just a bit of a shelf without drawers. My side had the alarm clock which took up almost all of the shelf so there wasn't really any place for me to put a few things (a book, my charging phone/ipad, etc). Also, that bathroom wasn't the easiest to use. Again, cool to look at but functionally? A bust. The sink was shallow so water got everywhere when I would wash up at night. The shower is a walk in kind with a very small lip at the floor to keep the water in which meant that the whole bathroom floor would get soaked whenever anyone hopped in. I soaked more than a few pairs of socks not realizing the towels on the floor were sopping wet after my fiance took a shower.

Also, there are also very few in room amenities when it comes to food and drink. Not a huge deal but plan ahead if you think you'll be hungry or thirsty at night (there is a small fridge if you want to pick up your own stuff). There is an in room iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. In the bathroom there is shower gel, a shampoo/conditioner hybrid, a bar of soap and a shower cap. Not much provided there either (compared to some other places I've stayed).

A few other pros? The place is pet friendly and there's a fitness center which is also pretty great. The staff is really nice and helpful, there are complimentary papers and Time Out NY magazines in the lobby if you're looking for ideas on what to do, our room was spotless and very quiet at night as well.

For the location and our hotwire price this place was aces (About $200 a night) but I don't know if I would pay full price ($300). But it's a great jumping off point and a really cool place that I would be happy to stay at again for the right price.
