a great location for the visitors. stay there for 3 days and it's a very convenient location to go to anywhere. also the service are really great at the place. i happen to be put on the smoking floor, so it was a little smelly. other than that, i think the place is really good.

you can sign up for their select guest program, and you can request things like extra pillow and type of bed and etc.. the first night i didn't have all the things i requested, but the next night i came back, i had all the things i ask for.. was really impressed.

the rate for the room is a bit higher, but i think the location and quality pays for itself. would recommend if you want to splurge yourself for couple days at the big apple city.

Select Guest Program is all that you need to know in order to ensure a great stay at the Omni.  Signing up is free and takes about two seconds, but the benefits are palpable.  You get free wireless internet in the room, free beverage service in the morning and the pleasure of feeling like you belong to the Omni family.  We have stayed in various Omni hotels around the country and this one wins hands down for the convenience of its location in the city.  The hotel is walking distance from 30 Rock as well as shopping on Fifth, Park and Madison Avenues.  The staff is attentive and I received free breakfast coupons upon my arrival.  (The review for the hotel restaurant can be found if you search for Fireside.)  Some of the negatives included the absence of a coffee maker in the room, ancient television set and recurring problems with my room's wireless internet.  Overall, I would stay here again as the location of the hotel makes up for its small deficiencies.

Nice hotel. I'd rather stay at the Mandarin or Four Seasons, but for a 4-star, this is a good choice. I stayed in a suite, so I can't judge a regular room. Suite was very big, room was clean, and it was an excellent location. Seemed mostly suited to business travellers.

Loved this place!  We purchased the American Girl package at this hotel as it was my granddaughter's birthday surprise.  The hotel had birthday baloons, a red velvet cake and all the American Girl amenities waitng for her.  The service at this hotel was outstanding - especially Lenny at the front door.  The food at the Fireside restaurant (breakfast was included in the package) was nice and it made it very easy to get going in the morning.  We also got fresh coffee, juice, water and a newspaper delivered to our door everyday.  The location is tops but the noise level is pretyy significant even if you are on the upper floors as we were.  The hotel room was small but very clean and we were extemely comfortable.  I highly recommend this hotel even for those not interested in the AG package.  We will return to the Omni.

This is my preferred New York hotel--certainly, the Mandarin would be better, but who wants to spend $700+ on a hotel room?

This is a great hotel, and I'm usually always able to get a nice upgrade to a suite--for free. The best time to book is in the fall or spring, when they have deals on Travelzoo; you'll find a room for about $200 per night. Great deal--a steal for New York. Otherwise, look to pay close to $500 per night.

Very close to midtown and all the investment banks and advertising agencies, this hotel isn't as convenient for tourists. But it has decent access to a couple main subway lines.

I loved it here. I stayed over in Manhattan two nights because I was seeing the broadway show rent two times in a row.. so just figured it'd be easier to stay on the island instead of Brooklyn.

The location is awesome; It's like a jump from the theater district and the park.  

When we arrived the room wasn't ready- and it was my birthday- so they felt bad and gave us the top floor suite.  Gorgeous!! My friend came with me and we both had our own room and bathroom, it was wonderful.  The big suite the others stayed in had three walls of windows.

We peeked in to see the other rooms, and they seemed huge.  The decor is really pretty, it's like old, but white decor.  The beds were very fluffy and comfortable too.

This is definitely worth the money because all of the services you get: the friendly staff, the large rooms, clean bathrooms, huge beds, reasonable prices..

Spent 4 nights at the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel last month and it was very nice.  The hotel is well located in midtown on the corner of 52nd St. & Madison Ave., just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center and down the street from Tiffany & Co.

It is a vintage hotel, but really nice.  I was on the 11th floor and the room was clean, well-appointed, and quiet.  It had those blackout curtains, so you were never aware of the outside bustle.  Very handy when you get back to your room at 4:00 AM and need to SLEEP!

They had complimentary coffee downstairs in the morning, if you made it in time.  And I always seemed to get there when the pot was just emptied!  It was really good when you got it though!  The concierge was very helpful too.  The front desk staff and the bell staff also first rate!

They are remodeling the restaurant that is in the hotel, but offer 24 hour room service.  The Omni Burger at midnight was great!

Best thing, I was able to use my AMEX Rewards points to pay for the room.  They made my first trip to the Big Apple a super experience!

I am an optimist.  When constructing a review I start with five stars and work my way back from there.  This rating took a bit of a journey, but ended back up at five stars.  This hotel is in a great location within a short walk to multiple subway stations, 30 Rock, Times Square, Theater District.  It is a beautiful property and our room (Premium Room) was very spacious on many scales and huge by NYC standards.  Everything from the lobby to our bathroom was perfectly maintained and clean.  I would highly recommend joining their loyalty program before you stay as it will get you free Wifi and complimentary bottled water in your room.  At $14 a day for internet otherwise it is a great deal to sign up just for that.  The loyalty program, by the way, is very straight forward like Southwest airlines used to be.  Stay 10 nights, boom, you're at the next level.  No points or other BS to decode.  We stayed there in mid April and the only downside was the price.  Although all of the hotels we considered seemed to be inflated at that time of year, this was not by any means a cheap place to stay, minus one star.  That having been said, given our large room, very comfy bed, and their willingness to accommodate our requests I'll let it slide.  Speaking of requests, I have to mention that we arrived by train early on a week day.  We arrived at the hotel at about 10:30am hoping to store our bags until check-in time at 3pm.  To our surprise, the attendant handed us our keys and told us to have a wonderful stay!  Boom, back to five stars for that one.  Oh, one more thing, the apples available in the lobby have been mentioned in some other reviews.  I can't explain why, but they were some amazingly delicious apples!

It's hard to understand the rating this hotel has.  We tried to find any excuse to deem it worthy of its top 200 rating BUT unfortunately we couldn't.  The initial impression was spectacular...the valet and bellmen are at the top of their game...simply outstanding!  BUT...it all ends there.  As you enter the hotel, the atmosphere, customer service and attention to detail immediately changes.  The front desk staff are friendly enough but certainly do not look to go above or beyond their workspace.  The rooms are ok, at second look you can see that the hotel needs some "attention to detail", being near a utility closet certainly did nothing to wow our visit.  The water is drippy and the hotel showers...well, they are pretty much non-existent......the program they have for kids would be great if they actually followed through with it.  The check-in in back pack was nice but the milk and cookies never arrived.  The room service was slow.  The maid service on the other hand was probably the highlight of this hotel....sweet, talkative, informative and cordial!  Great location, okay service, better deals elsewhere!

Very nice. Had an issue with the glass shower door falling off, however, I won't give a bad review for that because, well the obvious, accidents happen. But, mainly when my fiance called the front desk, 2 very professional maintenance men showed up with in about 1 minute! It was seriously almost instant! Did they run? I don't know, but I was impressed with the timeliness of their response! Also, the manager discounted our bill due to the inconvenience. To me, incidents occur & should be expected, it's all in the way management resolves them that really matter. So a big thumbs up! My only reason for not giving the last star is for, perhaps selfish reasons. I just kinda hoped that when they learned they were our honey moon destination maybe they would have made a little bit of a big deal. A cheap bottle of wine sent up would have even helped. Shoot even a chocolate on the pillow. Something! A honeymoon is a BIG deal & we chose them. I wish they would have acknowledged it. :-) still 4 stars tho

I've stayed at the Omni Berkshire three times now and won't stay anywhere else! The hotel is in a great location, right along Madison Avenue and close to several subway strops. I always find the bellmen to be very cool and friendly, and the front desk staff professional and accommodating. The housekeeping staff is extremely diligent--we usually leave the privacy sign up so we can sleep in late, and every day, there is a voicemail from housekeeping letting us know that we can call down and have our room cleaned whenever it's convenient for us. The beds are very comfortable--a great thing to have when you've been walking around the city all day! We usually get a small amenity (chocolate covered pretzels and bottled water) when we stay, probably because we are members of their select guest program. Most of the other Omnis don't do that! Again, the staff and the location are fabulous. The rooms are pretty nice--the only downside is that some of them don't have very nice views, but those facing Madison Avenue or 52nd are quite lovely! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Well this Omni was a fun one! The room was really nice, huge tall ceilings with decorative woodworking. They brought chocolate covered strawberries for my wife and bottled water to me daily for Omni Select Guests. Nice location in Midtown, close to subway so i could get down to village with no issues. The staff was delightful, this is my go to hotel in NYC. Regal is the word that comes to mind. Seriously people, do not mess around with other places, as Craig Carton would say "Lock it up"

I prefer the downtown hotels over midtown and this proves to be true again after staying at the omni. The rooms are smaller, tourist crowds all over the place, no view, no attention to details....these are all the things you woundn't have to worry about downtown plus much better restaurants and vibe. The hotel has been updated, but you can tell it's been around for awhile as it still has some charm. Nothing special about it.

I travel to NY 2-4 times a year and have stayed at so many hotels over the last 20 years. In every other city that I travel to I have found a hotel that I love and return to over and over again. NY has been harder, Staying in Times Square is the best location for me so I have stayed at The Westin, W, The Millennium and The Marriott many times. For one reason or another I've never "loved" any of them. Every once in a while I'll pick another spot to try and again just never found any of the hotels particularly wonderful on enough points to return. I'm so excited that I finally found the perfect hotel for my needs. Why?

1) Conflict Resolution: I had a few relatively minor issues when I checked in. The next morning I spoke with a Manager, I believe her name was Bernadette, and she went way above and beyond to respond to my complaint. Grade A+

2) The room was a reasonable size for NY standards with a wonderful bed, sheets, bathroom, shower (good water pressure is a must) & towels. Grade B+

3) Room service was prompt, the staff incredibly friendly & courteous. The food (omelet & fries) was excellent & Starbucks coffee in the AM. Yes, the menu is pricey but very comparable to other NY hotels and with far superior food. Grade B+

4) Amenities: Complimentary Wireless Internet and coffee in the AM are simple touches that really make a big difference! Grade A+

5) Excellent Neighborhood! There's a burger place across the street that had fabulous burgers and onion rings - really, really great! Grade A

6) Service: Everyone that I encountered was outstanding! Grade A+

The only negative for me was a pretty old TV with a small choice of stations. Seems like a small thing & maybe it is for most people but for me a night without MSNBC (Chris, Keith & Dan) is like starting the day without coffee. Grade on TV C-

Love the bed- very comfortable!... I woke up in the morning and for one second I thought I was at home !!;) ya the mattress and sheets are that nice!:) Great location plus newly renovated elegant rooms. Definitely recommend it!  Drinks at their restaurant Fireside are a little pricy tho; but it's typical. Oh almost forgot to mention about their WiFi connection - very weak for iPhones (had to use my laptop). Otherwise I would give them a 5-star.

Room - seems very clean with prompt  daily "resetting" and nightly turn-down service.  The waterpressure is great and the rooms are appropriately sized.  Main downside is 2 of 3 rooms I've stayed in have this odd whirling sound from the air ducts that can range from rather high pitched (and very annoying) to a non-issue.

Staff/Mgmt - simply great.  Every time I've stayed here (generally for work) they've let me check in early AM (generally arrive at 7am) which is a nice detail to have taken care of instead of just dropping your bags.

Bar/Restaurant - somewhat comical.  Both times I've had a drink there it's been good people watching.  The first involved the bar tender needing to have a patron chased down (for going to the bathroom without acknowledging himself as a guest or leaving a card) and the other involving a pair of "professionals" working the male portion of bar crowd with Ke$ha like antics.

... I'll return, good omni points and close the office are the main draws though.

I haven't stayed at this location yet, but I made reservations online, after reading great reviews.
I attempted to call them to confirm my reservation and ask for specifics about parking.  The number that is listed either is a dead end, or there is no one manning the phones. I have called 5 times in two days and all those times, the phone just rings and rings. I would expect this kind of nonsense from a cheap motel, but not from a nice hotel like the Omni. I am hoping that my actual stay here is a completely different experience, but I'm a bit nervous at this point.

The hotel itself was fantastic. Excellent service, free wi-fi for Select Guest members...etc! If they can resolve the phone situation, I'd give it a full 5 stars! Overall, I'd definitely stay here again.

Had the best hotel stay at The Omni Berkshire Place this past weekend!  I had a Deluxe room with 2 double beds and it was far bigger than any other NYC hotel room I have stayed at.  The hotel was super luxurious and beautiful.  The staff was super friendly and helpful especially when trying to grab a cab or find a place to eat.  The neighborhood was fantastic and I felt safe the whole time we were there.  I would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

We have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed.  In fact on other visits our room has been upgraded.  This time we had a regular room but it was in a good location, very quiet and recently redecorated.  The service here is very efficient and friendly.  The staff is very helpful.  The room was always clean when we came back from touring and in the evening the bed was always turned down and a fresh ice bucket in place.  We got complimentary coffee served in the room every morning which was a nice touch.  The location is convenient to places like MOMA, Carnegie Hall, and of course, shopping.  The street isn't as busy either so one doesn't hear the noise of the city so much.  Our favorite restaurant La Grenouille is just down the street!

This hotel is a place I would like to revisit. I came to NYC to receive a training  in the Park Avunue, so the place is pretty close. The room is well maintained, you will have a flat tv,and it is well lighted. This is the part I like most. The hotel also provides wi-fi, and it is free provided you join their select guest program. You will also free polishment to your shoes.

one of my favorite hotels in New york (though I havent stayed at all that many yet!)
the decoration and atmosphere is definitely one for an older audience, but it's comfortable and un-pretentious.  Elegance without the snobby attitude. The staff is helpful and was very accommodating.  

The rooms are a decent size, but definitely not what i would consider spacious.

I got a deal off of hotwire (so basically, I got really lucky) and it was one of the best deals ever.

Well maintained, nice modern decor, clean, and surprisingly large rooms compared to what I usually see in New York.  Heck, they were big compared to what I see in Chicago!

I think they recently renovated - our room looked like all the paint and furniture were brand new, and had a big LCD TV - not small and outdated like other reviews have mentioned.  A great deal for the price - highly recommended.

The only irritation: hotels still charge for WiFi?  Get with the times, guys.

I spent 1 night here with my 5 girls for my bachelorette weekend in NYC. The service was great and everyone was sincerely nice to us!

*Someone brought up an extra cot, extra towels, and a couple of complimentary razors (we forgot them and it is definitely a necessity!)

*The bellhop stored our luggage safely since we checked in early. He even thought we were all from CA , which was a huge compliment for us because CA is so much cooler than MD!

*The valet offered to have the hotel's driver take all 6 of us in the SUV to our lunch destination for flat $25 fee.  It was quick and easy.

The hotel was what I expected in a 4 star hotel, and I would totally recommend it to anyone.

I originally stayed at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston, and the staff was so helpful and friendly that I booked this place for our stay in NY. We stayed here for 4 nights and I think one of the best deals that they have is how you join their loyalty program for a complimentary internet access and also have drinks delivered to your room in the morning!

Since my aunt and I stayed for a total of 8 nights at the Omni Hotels for our East Coast trip, we signed up to become the select guests and had complimentary wifi as well as two drinks every morning :)

The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is perfect! Right on Madison and super close to the shopping strip on 5th avenue :)

as we walked in, we were greated by a nice hostest,
she sat us down, and we waited for our waiter, LAME ! barely looked at us while we ordered, got even worse when he heard we were not ordering alcohol, who the hell he thinks he is!, arabe looking guy ! just saying in case you go. (no im not racist, just stating the facts )
4 star hotels should have better customer service, my friends and i were staying their for a few nights, 8 nights, and are coming back soon, or will we ?

Nice place. Rooms are modern and very clean, everything inside the place was immaculate. The staff is very professional and nice. The bellman and valet parking staff is great . I had them park my brand new Jaguar out front overnight (something they do not always do) for an extra $25 tip. The only complaint I have is the crappy view. Right in front of my window was a construction zone and scaffolding for nearby buildings. That and non-stop horn blowing all throughout the night. Either way, I had a great stay as the beds were very comfy and I had no problem falling asleep.

The hotel restaurant is a joke however -- do not go there unless you have unlimited funds. Everything is so ridiculously overpriced.

Staying at this hotel was a recommendation of my friend and fellow Yelper Jen, and it was perfect for what my family and I needed on our trip to New York.

We arrived late; we had requested two rooms on the same floor, which apparently they didn't assign. The front desk staff politely figured out a way to accommodate this request, which we found out five minutes later was that my room had been upgraded to a larger suite. I can handle that! I was facing a building, and you could see the people inside working on occasion. They never did anything naughty, which was definitely a let down.

The Omni Berkshire served its purpose well. It was upscale, along with being quiet, dignified, and a comfortable place to hang your hat after a fantastic day in NYC. It may not be as opulent as other places, but our emphasis was on seeing the city rather than sinking a whole lot into a hotel.

The beds and bedding were comfortable, and I loved the large armoires for our wardrobes. The bathrooms were marble-tiled and complemented with Joseph Abboud bath accessories. Fabulous, but pricey snack bar, of course. I think we broke down and had a Dean & Deluca candy bar with an Evian, but that was it.

Location: awesome. Midtown was exactly where we needed to be for our itinerary. It was within walking distance for a lot of places we wanted to see.

I won't forget the staff. One if the concierges was a sassy Jewish woman, so I made sure she told me where the best deli was for breakfast. I ate at that deli for breakfast every day I was there. The doormen were attentive and arranged for our cars around the city and to JFK.

The Fireside Bar and Grill was nice for a lobby restaurant. I, of course, mostly experienced the bar side of that, although their light fare menu was good for a late night snack. One of the bartenders was a riot. He was a total dick, but authentically New York. He's the only person (ever, I dare say) to wince at the mention I was from Austin, TX. I tried to explain that Austin was a liberal, blue city and that we were more in line with New Yorkers than our hillbilly bigot neighbors in a lot of respects. He seemed unmoved, and mumbled something about us lethally injecting the mentally ill. I couldn't really argue there. But he did give me the name of what he considered to be the best pizza in the city. I thanked him for that.

All in all, a classy place in the heart of Midtown. We'd be definitely open to returning!

For the great deal we got, it was a great hotel!

We stayed in the double-bed room for 3 nights. The double room was much larger than I expected from a typical NYC hotel room! Enough room for two big queens and one couch and a table and chairs. The people at the front desk were so nice, and the staff was awesome (they let us store sandwiches overnight in their fridge hahaha).

The location was great. Right in midtown and near the subway station and shopping (5th avenue area). It wasn't in a SUPER busy area though which was what I liked the most. It was perfect for my brother and I considering we were first timers in NYC. They also had an information desk for tourists and alla that; we didn't use it but they seemed nice haha.

This hotel wasn't super, super ginormous of a high rise and the lobby wasn't anything vast, but the fact that it was a smaller hotel, gave it a more intimate and homey feel. It wasn't too intimidating. But don't get me wrong it very very very nice inside and up to date furniture and decor. Very clean as well. There was also not a lot of noise either in the hotel halls.

Overall a great place and I would come here again!

I stayed here for 3 nights on my most recent trip to NY. It's a pretty snazzy looking hotel when you walk inside. The staff is super nice and helpful. Like all other New York hotels, the rooms are pretty small; but hey, the room was clean, the bed was nice, and the restroom was very spacious. In addition, it is in a great central location in New York. I highly recommend it to first time visitors who may not know the subway system that well.

The cleaning staff is excellent. I left a small note for the maid asking for a bag or two for my dirty laundry. She left me 3 bags. You have to appreciate any hotel that has maids that can read English (and decipher my horrible handwriting).

This has got to be the most overrated hotel in America.  The 5th floor has the smell of stale smoke and the room smelled like a combination of stale smoke with the unsuccessful attempt to cover it up wit cheap perfume.  The aging infrastructure creaks and the staff is less than enthusiastic.  Overall one would expect a great deal more from a hotel that costs more than $500 an night this time of year.

Just sooooo nice !!!  Great rooms that are totally updated with flat screens and plenty of room to walk around.  Staff is nice and location is GREAT - 5min walk to broadway and less to Rock center.  Not the cheapest hotel, but catch them at the right time, and its only a little more than the sheriton that hasn't been updated since the 70's  :)

TIP - get a room facing 52nd street - the Madison side is much noisier from traffic, and the 53rd side is like looking into an alley.

I ended up staying here after getting a great deal on Hotwire. Check-in went smoothly, and for as little as we paid, we got a great room facing the main street on the 6th floor.

The room was clean and had a great all-marble bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The bathroom was stocked with everything one would expect. The turn down service left us with a nice treat each night.

Omni Berkshire Place is centrally located. It is in Mid-town East, which means you're close to everything, but not so close that all of your senses are overwhelmed.

We stayed for a few days, our first time in NY.  The Omni was awesome!  Centrally located, in a nice part of town.  After doing a lot of walking and seeing locations of other hotels, we realized what a great choice the Omni was.  Accommodations were wonderful!  Very comfortable bed, air conditioning worked great, room service available, attentive housekeepers - always had clean room and towels.  Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Lenny!  He gave us some good tips and recommendations, as well as getting us cabs.  No complaints!

It's a nice hotel, but overpriced for what they provide.

Now I know that a lot of what I paid for was the location in Manhattan.  New York CIty is overpriced in general and I knew that going in, but it doesn't change the fact that I wouldn't normally pay as much as I did for a night.

That said, the staff is friendly, the hotel is clean, they are prompt to attend to issues and pleasant while doing so.  My only complaint (and the reason they get 4 instead of 5 stars was that the day I checked out, I was harassed by the cleaning and stocking staff.  No lie, the morning of my departure (I checked out a little before noon), no fewer than 5 people tried to come into my room.  I had to put the bar lock on because, despite calling out "Just a minute", they would consistently not hear me and try to open the door.

This does not speak to a soundproof room, though, since I could hear the people (children) in the hallways from my room.  I'm really not sure why the staff was quite as aggressive as they were, but overall it was a good experience and I will certainly consider other Omni hotels in the future.

I have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world and the Omni Berkshire was perhaps one of the best ones. The staff was incredibly welcoming. I joined Omni's reward program before I made my reservations and even though I had zero points I still got a ton of perks to include free wifi and free morning beverage service. The room was pretty large which was surprising for midtown. The staff cleaned my room twice a day which was nice as I would take a nap between my conference and anything I did in the evening. I will try to stay here on all my trips to NYC from here on out.

I highly recommend the Omni Berkshire and will happily share my experience with anyone! I have to admit that reading Yelp reviews had me VERY worried. I am ECSTATIC to report that none of the bad reviews I read were true for my trip! MOST IMPORTANTLY,  NO bedbugs were spotted in my room on the 10th floor despite one Yelp reviewer had them in her room on the 11th floor 10 days ago. Upon checking in at 1:30AM, I completely stripped the beds looking for bugs with a pen-flashlight. Even turning the mattresses over came up CLEAN! Having booked through a 3rd party, the whole stay was paid for in advance and I was VERY prepared to walk to find a new hotel at 2am!

Even though I had booked my stay through a 3rd party, I had no trouble confirming my room, beds or check-in time. Customer service was AH-MAZING!!! I had requested to borrow a pair of scissors at 10:30pm for an early wedding the next morning. Within 10 minutes of hanging up the phone, an official-looking, yet friendly man appeared at my door, with scissors in hand. He was so kind and while waiting for me to use them, asked if there was anything else he could do to make my stay enjoyable. How's THAT for customer service? Another customer service experience was that I had called to ask for a late checkout as I had a job interview at noon in NoHo and wouldn't be back up to the hotel until 2pm. The man at the desk kindly changed my check out time to 2pm in the computer and there was no fuss or conflict at all. Every morning I left, someone wished me a "good day" and upon return at night someone always, genuinely asked how my day was. Nothing was rehearsed or regurgitated from memory. It seemed each person really wanted to know. It felt very genuine.

Not new to mid-town Manhattan, I love how centrally located the hotel is to all of the major subway lines and buses. It was so easy to go out during the day and make numerous stops back at the hotel to unload packages or to change before dinner.

I cannot say enough about my experience at the Omni Berkshire.

The Omni Berkshire Place is my go-to hotel for NYC from now on. It is by far and away the best hotel I have stayed in in NYC. The online check-in is amazingly fast. I literally walked in, told them my name and they gave me the keys. The staff was awesome. They were attentive, but very respectful of my privacy. They left my wife and me two bottles of water a couple of hours after we checked in! Everyone who works here just seems to be in a great mood. The other perks include a selection of free beverages in the morning, a nice shower and bathtub, a great bed, good climate control, free wifi (for members), it's only a block away from the subway, and the list goes on and on. I should mention that they even gave me a small tube of toothpaste when I told them at midnight that I had forgotten mine at home.

This hotel has everything.

The bellmen who takes care of luggage were extremely unhelpful. The maids were very pleasant and the bellhop who is at the entrance was wonderful and friendly. He helped us get a cab when we were running late. When we requested more towels they brought them write away. One of the lamps in the room did not work. The lobby was very hot and sticky. I thought I brought home bedbugs from the hotel because when I got home I had bites all over every morning for a week---however, the hotel room and my apartment tested negative. I don't know if I brought home a spider or something else possibly. The bellman really made us feel like a burden and were not welcoming. Its a nice hotel--not a lot of space and the elevators were very crowded. I would not go back here.

I investigated staying at all the most luxurious hotels and knew I couldn't afford it.  I had stayed at the Omni in New Haven and loved it so I gave it a go. The Omni is perfectly luxurious while not paying crazy prices. Elegant, understated hotel. Close to everything. Treated like a VIP, Comfortable bed, great amenities. And most important to me is CLEAN and well kept. Would stay here again. So accommodating and attentive. Our room was prettier in person than the pictures.

I've stayed here before and was excited to return. The location is great and it's very quiet on the weekends. However, we had several issues with both housekeeping and the concierge that were pretty much inexcusable. Housekeeping left dirty sheets wadded up in our room, gave us wet towels every day, left food (not ours) in our sink, and the toilet was not flushed when we got into our room. Neither of the bedside table lamps worked when we checked in either. When I called to let guest services know, they said they'd speak with the housekeeper for our floor and never followed back up with us.

Secondly, when I asked the concierge about whether she could help me with 4th of July plans, she told me to Google it. If I had the time to plan it all myself using Google, I would have. I was calling the hotel since I was assuming basic concierge service was included in my nightly rate.

The bellman was more helpful than the concierge in pointing me toward decent restaurants and I appreciate him going out of his way to do this.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to have recommended this to my family, and hope that my experience was a fluke and not common at other Omni locations.

I'm sure, for rich people, they treat you better, but the pretentious attitude of the check in staff permeated the air so much I could cut it with a knife.  On top of that, they were not willing to bend a few minutes to let us check in.  It's a good location, but I expected a better experience from the Omni family of hotels.  I've stayed in a few and this was the lowest of all as far as quality (and "nice-ness") of the rooms.  It seemed cheap and there were things that needed to be fixed.  (Needs a reno really badly.  At least for the "cheap" $500 rooms we were in.)  

The Concierge, on the other hand, was amazing.  They knew their stuff and had alternatives.  They lent us an umbrella, as the first night was pouring and we needed to eat.  They sent us to the most amazing (and affordable) Italian place, and even called in to make sure we had a seat saved.  (I know it's a concierge, but still, it was nice.)  

The beds were comfortable and it was clean, but like I said, lacking in the "luxury" department whereas the other Omni's seem to have more updated rooms.  Overall.  It was ok, but I'll not go back there.

For the rest of my honeymoon we made a short trip to New York. So happy we went with OMNI. Place is modern, clean, and staff is friendly. Of course my hubby and I were one of the youngest people staying here and also the most dress down. NOT once did the staff look down on us (UNLIKE THE STUPID INTERCONTENTIAL HOTEL). Staff always greeted us, helped us with our bags super fast, and opened the doors. They even gave us umbrellas when it was raining.

The rooms are pretty decent size and very comfy. I just wish they had drawers to put your clothes in, instead of just to hang everything up.

We always stay with Ommi if possible and Berkshire did not disappoint, however, we've had better overall experiences at other locations. (Chicago, San Fran, Ft. Worth, DC). Staff was courteous, but did not receive normal upgrade.  Also, this is the only location that did not have a coffee maker in the room.  Location of the hotel is optimum for visiting Manhattan. Room is spacious and bathroom is nice, but very little drawer space.   Room service selections were not great and the desserts were horrible. (Do not bother). Always nice to have the coffee in the morning and the bed is comfortable.

This is a really excellent hotel. Great location (Midtown East), spacious rooms. We stayed here for 5 days, 4 nights near the end of June. We used Priceline and they accepted a bid for $150/night, which was more than what we wanted to pay, as other people on the Better Bidding Forums received lower bids for 4-stars in the same area. However, it was the same price we paid for the Roosevelt on our trip to NY last month. Omni Berkshire is definitely the better of the two hotels. It was very quiet, as I think they cater more to business travelers. We saw older couples during our stay, and I didn't see any children at all, but my boyfriend said he saw a few. The staff were courteous and friendly, although we did not go out of our way to test their level of service.

We didn't have our room serviced by housekeeping for most of our stay. They respected our "Do Not Disturb" sign but left messages on our phone every day to let us know that if we did want it cleaned, to give their department a call or to remove the sign. We removed the sign on Monday and came back to a clean room with fresh towels.

Amenities are few and we did not use them much. In the bathrooms they provided us with bathrobes. The free toiletries include hand soaps, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. We stayed on the 16th floor and visited the fitness center on the 17th floor. It is open daily from 9am - 10pm. While a small room, they do have a good variety of equipment and weights. We came to check it out at closing and the staff member was kind enough to let us look around.

We have stayed at the Omni Shoreham in DC and enjoyed our stay there as well. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for 4-star accommodations in New York.

PROS:
- Location. Reasonable walking distance to touristy areas as well as the subway stations.
- Comfortable beds. Feather pillows but other pillows available upon request.
- Large spacious rooms.
- Good use of space. Wardrobe has an ironing board and iron.

CONS:
- Needed more outlets in room. We could only use 2 at most.
- Weak water pressure, but tub was deep enough for baths.
- Extremely spotty wireless, connection dropped constantly.
- Even at the 16th floor, woke up to the sound of construction in the morning.
- If you care about TV, we found the TV to be in need of an upgrade.
- The beds are kind of loud but no one complained to us and we did not hear our fellow guests above and below us ;-)

SUGGESTIONS
Register at Omni's website to be an Omni Preferred Select Guest. It's free and you get free internet instead of paying $9.95/night. We also received weekday editions of USA Today and The New York Times.

You can print your boarding pass at the Business Center but if you need to print anything else, we recommend going across the street to the 24-Hour Kinko's. The Omni Business Center charges $16.95 for 15 minutes of internet and that does not include printouts. I had to print out a bus ticket and Kinko's charged me $1.85 for the printout and internet usage.

This is my favorite hotel in NYC, it's pricey, but well worth the experience and location.  Our room was on the 16th floor (an executive king, corner room) and had an excellent view of the buildings/street in Manhattan.  The room was large and modern, definitely impressive.  My favorite thing about this location is the proximity to Central Park (a great place to jog) and other various shopping -- many things are within walking distance.  We'll definitely be staying here again.

I spent two nights at the Omni Berkshire on a weekend getaway trip with my better half. I am going to give it four stars - though 3 1/2 would be more like it.

- Really comfy bed linens/amazing pillows
- Clean bathroom/great shower
- Decent size room
- Well-stocked mini-bar/snack station

- Outdated, small TV
- Noisy maid service (started at 9am and were LOUD)
- Currently under construction

All in all, I'd stay again. Good location, easy walk to Times Square, and there are some nice places to eat in the area. It would have been nice to know that they were under renovation before I booked though.

We really enjoyed our stay here!

Fresh red delicious apples at check in are a welcome and healthy snack!

The foyer is gorgeously decorated in black, white, plenty of glass and at the time, sunflowers.

The room was just what we needed and not much different in size from any other NYC hotel room.

The gym was perfectly sufficient for a quick work out. The locker room was notable - very clean, great shower and changing stalls, robes, fantastic vanities as well. I especially enjoyed the deck with sun chairs right outside of the gym.

Before arrival, sign up for the Omni Member Select. You can receive drinks each morning ranging from coffee to tea to OJ and even bottled water.

Wonderful location for shopping and a nice walk to Central Park.  I would certainly stay here again.

This is by FAR the BEST Omni I have stayed in and I am a total Omni snob...:) We arrived and from the moment we walked in - the staff was so genuinely nice to us. I was up there using one of my comp nights and with other hotels when I have used a comp, I was treated as such....but not here! Quite the contrary.....I feel like I was treated like a top guest. We were up on the 20th floor, with amazing views.

=The staff was just so nice and sincere.

=The room was immaculate.

=The views and location are to die for.

=The bed and linens were very plush and comfy.

=They also brought us chocolate covered strawberries, and water...LovE!!!!

So all in all, if you are looking for an amazing experience with your hotel, you must stay at the Omni....I can't wait to go back. I will be raving about my stay for a very long time, and will now never stay anywhere else. :-D Thank you Omni!

Well, we arrived about midnight (pre checked in, whatever that means) but my name was not in the rolodex.  We had to pull out our paper with reservation and whew, she found it.  We go to our room and open the door and walk in.  Whoa! My husband says "someone is in this room". I scurry out as quickly as possible.   Actually someone's backpack and macbook were in the room but beds were made.  We still do not know if someone  was  in the bathroom or not.  Rather disturbing,  We went to the front desk and reported this.  Clerk apologized, gave us new room, which we walked  into very slowly after knocking.  Whew, unoccupied.  Stay was nice.  Clean, comfy.  Another complaint ...i had (I thought) booked a pre theater meal in fireside restaurant.  When it did not appear on my reservation, we went down to reserve in person for that evening.  Upon arrival that evening, we were told there was no theater menu tonight, just burgers and pizza.  Well thanks for the heads up!  We should have been told this before, at booking online or that morning.  Very disappointed and misled.  We found a  meal outside the hotel.  A+ for doormen and bellhop !

What a beautiful hotel. Great location right around the corner from the M/E stop and a(nother) UNIQLO is also opening there as well!

They had a big bowl of red delicious apples available in the lobby, what a great welcome to the big apple! You also get complimentary bottles of the bougiest water you will ever drink.

The room was impeccably stylish and clean. The bed was a wonderfully plushy pillow top with huge king size pillows. It almost makes you want to spend more time in the room luxuriating. They provide all the amenities you could ask for, including cotton balls/q-tips, mouthwash and a miniature sewing kit with the needles already threaded (!) Talk about attention to detail.

Love the Omni! We had a great experience staying at the Omni Berkshire. We arrived early and they were fortunately able to accommodate us for early check in since we had a wedding to get ready for!

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They remember you every time you walk in and helped with getting around the city.

We stayed in an Executive King and I was really pleased with the size of the room it was pretty large for a NYC hotel room! The room was clean, had a great view and was set up well.

The location is great! Super convenient and there are 3 subway stops close by! We will definitely be staying at the Omni next time we are in the city.

My rare non-food review, just because they give us orange juice/coffee/etc in the mornings.  Just kidding, but make sure to sign up for the loyalty program!!  Very convenient location- a block away the subway (5th and 53rd).  Once you step out of the hotel, you have great shopping to the left and right.  This is amazing if you end up with a bunch of heavy shopping bags (+ heels= bad news).  Walking distance to Rockefeller and Times Square.  The staff is mediocre, but the hotel itself is new renovated and wonderful.  A bit pricey, but what nice NY hotel isn't?

I enjoyed staying at the Omni Berkshire very much. The room was larger than I expected for a vintage hotel in a city. It was very comfortable and recently appointed. Plus, it was actually quieter than my room at home.

Every staff member I encountered was cheerful and happy to help or answer any questions. We felt very welcome.

The only thing I didn't like was the glaring fluorescent bathroom lighting which was worse than most DMVs. They even have a work light in the shower. To get around this I used the light on the magnifying mirror and the hall light with the door open. You could also plug a lamp in the bathroom.

The coffee in the morning was good, and you get the NY Times with it too. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in mid-town.

This is the third Omni that we have stayed at in different cities. Each Omni is unique and has its own distinct character. One thing that is common to all Omni's is their commitment to service.

We stayed there for one night in January. We got there early and they let us check in early. The room was perfect. I thought it was large for NYC standards. I noted on the reservation that it was my wife's birthday. We went out to see a show and when we came back later that night, there was a cake and card in our room.

As will all Omnis, please join their loyalty program. This gives you free wifi and other goodies.

Wow, what a nice change from last year's choice of Hotel Edison.  Our annual girlfriends' trip to NYC had an upgrade this year for very little more money!

We really enjoyed the location, being a bit farther away from Times Square and the theatres really worked for us.  It was super quiet, clean and great staff.  We enjoyed our breakfast, the bell man got us a car for the airport when it was pouring rain and every taxi in the city was busy and we got free coffee delivered to the room!  (Join their rewards program for free Wifi and beverage!)

The first night we even got a turn down and a bottle of water.  Once we were waiting for the elevator and an employee invited us on the employee elevator.  That is service!

When I was checking out, another guest was rebooking as her flight was canceled due to the rain.  I was like eeks!  The front desk clerk was so soothing and earnest, assuring me if my flight was canceled that they had rooms.  I loved that!

Plus, even Goldilocks would like the mattress, what a great night's sleep.  We will be back!

This is everything you would expect from an Omni with excellent service, well appointed rooms and facilities, and a range of perks to ensure unbeatable value for your stay.

The location is also ideal for exploring Manhattan. Being a block or two away from the busy areas means the rooms are blissfully quiet for sleeping but it's easy to walk to 5th Avenue, Times Square and Grand Central. There's plenty to see within a ten minute walk as well and subways are not far either.

Overall the service was excellent with everyone from the bellmen and front desk to housekeeping going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. They were extremely accommodating with our late check-out and made everything run very smoothly. The next time I'm back in the city, this is where I'll be staying.

We booked on Hotwire ($150 a night--3 nights) and were quite pleased with the experience.  Yes, the rooms are small, but so are ALL rooms in Manhattan.  We had a king bed as well, which took up the majority of the room.  We had a room in the back of the hotel; so, no view, but no street noise either. We didn't hear a peep from our neighbors, verbally, flushing toilets, or shower noise.   My only small wish was that the bathroom could have been a tad larger, as the commode is squished next to the wall/door.  

We had to take our car in and store it at Omni's garage--$45 a day; again, not outrageous.

Location is fantastic.  You can walk quickly to Grand Central, and hop on the two major subway lines.  Subway to Chinatown/Canal Street is less than 15 minutes.  Also about a 20 minute walk to Times Square.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights last September and loved it. The room was perfect-- very nicely decorated and roomy. The location is great-- close to tons to do if you're in town as a tourist. The staff here is what really made our stay. We were so pleased that everyone was more than willing to help and answer any questions we had. Some nice places like this can be snotty, but not the Omni.
We had room service breakfast and it was SO GOOD. Everything was fresh and they even brought me gluten free toast, which is difficult to find when eating out. I also used the gym, which has new, clean equipment. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about the Omni and I recommend it to everyone.

The Omni Berkshire is in the heart of the action and close to all the main attractions. We stayed for four nights here this past weekend and enjoyed our stay - nice accommodations, spacious rooms, good view, polite front desk and concierge service, however, there a couple of cleaning mishaps for those of us who are really picky and almost impossible to please :-) All in all, it was a great stay and I would go back here again!

Really an excellent hotel - staff and accommodations are all top notch.  Housekeeping service was always efficient, and almost invisible - rarely a cart in the hallway.  And, the room was quiet, even though we were only on the 4th floor and also quite near the elevators.  

17th floor gym is compact with treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, weights, balls, yoga mats, nautilus machines + bananas, oranges, and apples.  A clean, bright space for a vacation workout.

Complimentary coffee delivered at your time of choice in the morning was a great treat for me - I despise going to breakfast!   Bring a Kind bar, pick up a yogurt from any of the nearby shops, fruit from the gym, and you're all set.  

The location was perfect... MOMA is 1 block away, Fresco Italian restaurant is a must, Isadorra's is way good and convenient, and Fig and Olive is delightfully tasty.  

Lobby flower arrangement is worth mentioning - it was striking - I saw 2 in the 5 days I spent there.  And, the refrigerator in the room is actually usable for your own water, wine, whatever.  

I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in NYC.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days for a short honeymoon after our wedding. There was some confusion when we checked in regarding having a card on file... my mother-in-law's gift to us was paying for our stay and she had pre-paid before the wedding, but the hotel did not have her card on file for some reason. So, I had to put mine on hold in order for us to check-in. We had to email her a few times (she does not live in the U.S.) to get things sorted, and the hotel eventually was able to confirm her card and sent us a complementary bottle of champagne and some fruit as an apology, which was kind of them, but I was pretty worried that I would be charged for our wedding gift during most of our stay.

The room was very nice, though we had been a bit misled about the size of the tub in the bathroom. Prices are what you would expect for New York City, esp. in Midtown. The location is very convenient of course, and we enjoyed walking around and site seeing. Overall, we did enjoy our stay, and the staff was very accommodating during the payment mix-up and very apologetic afterward.

We were here March 9-12, 2012. We had spent weeks trying to find a decent and affordable accommodations in NYC and stumbled across the Omni while on Kayak. Our criteria? Great location and under $200 (yeah, I know. NY doh!).

But the Omni delivered.

We have no complaints about the level of service and quality of rooms. Our room did not have a view (for $180 a night, I wouldn't have expected one), but it was quiet and the bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Join the loyalty program and you get fresh coffee and juice delivered to your room, along with your newspaper of choice each morning of your stay. Free WiFi too.

I've stayed in some 5-star hotels, and I've stayed in dumps. This place is neither. While this place isn't a 5-star resort, the location can't be beat. We were centrally located to the theater district and subway. Central Park was about 5 blocks away.

I'd definitely stay here again. The apples in the lobby were a nice touch.

This is the first time I've ever stayed at an Omni hotel and it was a great experience. Our train got in early so we decided to see if we could check in a tad before noon and they were more than accommodating.

The location is great, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff is very helpful. The rooms were quiet which is always a bonus is such a small city. Overall it was an ideal experience and I'd gladly stay here again!

We stayed here Super Bowl weekend and the location was great near lots of attractions and a Subway station. Staff was very friendly, rooms were comfy and clean.  Sign up for their customer rewards program and get free WiFi an drinks in the am. The only problem we had was that the WiFi wasn't free and we had to remind them that we signed up for the program and they took it off the room price. I would also say the restaurant on site is not worth the price and I would find something else to eat.

When visiting a friend who was briefly in town for several days before departing to his next business venture, I had the pleasure of viewing his room. Omni Berkshire is very sleek and modern hotel rooms where the price will surely burn a gargantuan hole in one's wallet as it is exorbitantly pricey but standard for Midtown. The view of Manhattan and beyond from the higher floors are nice with weather pending for visibly.  No comment for staff and hotel service.

Clean rooms and conveniently location in the wealth and prestige of Midtown Manhattan.

Stayed for 3 nights in April 2014. Were traveling to NYC with grandma and family. Rooms are clean and decent size. Rooms are outdated. The bathroom tiles are pink. We could hear the people in the room upstairs when they were using the bathroom. Flushing, shower running noise. The staff is friendly and the cafe right across is good for any snacks etc.

Location is fantastic. Staff is fantastic. !

Outstanding hotel, especially for the business traveller.  My suite was generously sized with a bathroom that was not only large but apparently recently renovated to a high standard.  Everyone on the staff was highly professional and very pleasant.  Room service was prompt.   The restaurant and bar were not the hotel's strong points given the decent but limited lunch and dinner menu choices (breakfast was fine).  As the city is full of fine restaurants, I looked at the hotel restaurant as a backup.

Our family stays every year at The Omni . Hotel itself is great ! We have always enjoyed our stay . Rooms are clean and well kept . Staff always have been nice and helpful . On our last stay this past week we found the Bar and cafe in one word to be Horrible ! Why ? Customer service is seriously lacking ! Bartender  on more than one occasion was very rude to our family.  We spoke to management more than once with no apology from bartender nor the manager of the bar or hotel fixing the problem .The manner in which we were treated by the cafe and bar was totally unacceptable !

Fabulous hotel in the heart of Manhattan.  It's just a couple blocks walking distance from the famous Fifth Ave.  Very convenient location to subways and shopping as well.  Our room was the perfect size, not too small and not too overwhelmingly large... even for nyc! :)  The staff was also top notch.  Even as an employee, I was treated like any other guest.  Super friendly doorman and the free morning beverage service were my favorite part of each morning!!!

I stayed here one night when a friend I was supposed to stay with ended up not coming back to town.  I am a clean freak and won't stay in most hotels, but every part of this hotel was VERY clean.  My room was huge for hotels in general, and actually larger than my NYC apartment (I wish I was kidding).  The bathroom was very well lit, and the bath robes were so soft.  The bathroom didn't have a fan, but I just showered with the bathroom door open so it didn't get too muggy in there.  I thought this was strange, but hardly a deal breaker for me.

My only complaint of my room would be that the heat/AC fans are kind of around the corner, down a slight foyer area by the doorway.  So when I was laying in bed, the AC was blasting by the door but did not actually reach me.  But again, hardly a deal breaker when I consider how clean, quiet and spacious everything else was.

The boyfriend and I love staying in the Omni Hotels if possible and the Omni Berkshire is the only place we stay at when visiting New York City.

The location is fabulous, perfect for exploring within Manhattan and so much is within walking distance.  However, there is not a view, which I guess can be expected though.

The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable and the entire staff is so warm and friendly, very helpful when I ask about transportation or restaurant recommendations in the area.  We have even arrived a few hours a few times and the staff work as fast as possible to make sure our rooms are ready.
Parking in their garage is outrageous though, $45 a day? No way! Perhaps I am not used to having to pay for parking...

The Berkshire Omni is really a great accommodation with great value.  We have stayed in 4 different Omni hotels in different cities and what I love is that each Omni is so unique in its décor, but the service everything is always excellent.

Remember to join their loyalty program, every 10 nights, you get a free night, plus other goodies like morning drinks and free wifi.

I work in NY quite a bit.  I've been staying at the Omni Berkshire for 12 years almost exclusively.  It's my favorite hotel in NY.  Perfect location.  You walk through the door into a beautiful lobby and incredible flower display.  

Great service, wonderful, friendly, caring staff across the board.  The Best concierge staff around.  Their Loyalty Ambassador (relatively new) is wonderful and caring and helpful.  

The rooms are tasteful and their larger suites are a great value.  The bathrooms have to be among the largest in any NYC Hotel.  The bar and restaurant are a good place to end a long day of work.  Room service is good and there are plenty of restaurants that deliver to the hotel.  

The hotel gym is one of the best I've seen.  Enough equipment to get a sweat on.  They've outfitted their decks with furniture , heaters and now provide food and beverage service there.  It'll be a great place to be on a nice sunny day or a summer evening.  

Omni has a great rewards program which gets you free wi-fi, beverage service to your door and free nights!  As a tip for making reservations, I've found the best pricing is always through Magellan Travel.

I stayed here right before Thanksgiving. I had such a great experience I had to write about it. This had to be the best bargain in NY. The cost of the room was under the average for Manhattan yet the location was tremendous (near Rock Center, Central Park, etc). Also, the rooms were generous in size and very clean. The fitness center was on the smaller side, but quality (& clean).  This place will become a "go to" for me on my NY trips.

Great for business travelers!

This is a great hotel in a great location.  When my girlfriend arrived we were greeted by two friendly workers at the desk and they helped us check in.  The gentleman at the desk was extremely friendly and offered us a free upgrade to a suite.  The suite was awesome with it's own living room and dining room.  I would definitely come back and stay here.  Awesome staff and hotel.

Paying $1,000 for 3 nights here physically hurt me to do (rent equivalent?!) but you can't beat the location and it really is a very nice hotel (complete with attentive, not snooty, staff).

The room is large considering we are in Manhattan. And the bathroom is very clean, new, spacious, and has plenty of counter space. You can tell a lot about a hotel just by their bathrooms...all good here. And the closet space is ginormous.

My favorite thing about this hotel though is how quiet it is! Typically when I'm staying in NYC, I'm annoyed with how loud it is (I'm a light sleeper) but I never woke up once due to noise. And I loved waking up to tea every morning outside my door.

It is expensive to stay here but you definitely get your money's worth. Just beware the restaurant attached to the hotel. It is good but $35 for the breakfast buffet?! No thanks.

Oh yes, the Omni Berkshire is always the nicely appointed accommodation of choice when I am traveling on business in New York. Not that I really have a choice since it just seems to land on a lot of companies' short list of places to stay when you accompany your boss. It's happened to me about three times with three different bosses at three different companies. I think I just realized that the Omni may be my one thread of consistency throughout my checkered corporate career. After all, jobs will come and jobs will go, but the Omni will always be there waiting for my next career move. Whoa, let me think about that one. Mind if I have a seat while I contemplate the sudden revelation that my career consists of a series of bookings at the Omni?

In fact, mind if I just book a deluxe room with a King bed because that's what I usually get at my level (see photo). And always with those canisters of Pringles and bags of M&M's in the wet bar that I don't want to show up on my expense report as I don't want people thinking I spend all evening eating Pringles and M&M's. But what else am I supposed to do if I have a free Pay-Per-View movie on? Munch on my down pillow? I digress. The hotel is old-style sleek, quite comfortable but not off-putting. It's the perfect Midtown East location for its proximity for all the various company offices I've had to visit. Yet for all its amenities, I have to admit I don't think I'd come here unless I had an expense account. A deluxe room runs over $300 per night during the off season.

This hotel and service is remarkable!  My wife and i came to New York to celebrate our 15 year anniversary and this hotel price was reasonable so i booked and received an email from Chat Dorough, the Loyalty Ambassador and i emailed back and mentioned my anniversary.  

On my arrival, I received an upgrade to a suite with King bed, a balloon and flowers in the room, champagne, cheese/fruit tray and bottled water delivered to my room!  Thanks Chat!  We felt like Royalty!

Can't say enough about this hotel. The concierge staff helped us navigate the subway, restaurants and broadway shows.  They picked out and made reservations for us on our anniversary and made sure we still had time to make it to our broadway play.  This hotel knows how to treat their guests. The Omni is a great hotel.

The Omni is one amazing hotel. You feel like royalty from the moment you approach the building. They've got doorman of the yea 2013, c'mon now!

We arrived way early (1pm) for check in and were leaving our belongings with the bellhop when we were informed, not even five minutes after arriving, that we could go to our room early. Sweeeeet! The front desk and bellhop were so nice to us! Oh, and I loved the bouquet arrangement with red berries.

Stayed in a suite with king bed. The room is styled nicely, clean, spacious and accommodating. The furniture is super comfy (especially the couch) and mattress was sooo amazing, just the right amount of bounce to firm.

Complimentary coffee service in the am to your room which was so lovely. I was visiting for my 30th birthday. The Hotel sent up beautiful array of sweets, a teddy bear, balloons and some wine. Now that's going above and beyond ;)

We stumbled in around 1 am to find complimentary apples in a basket. Nice healthy late night munchies. I'm totally serious, my husband devoured his in the elevator   ;)

Would recommend staying here to anyone. Close to the MOMA, Central Park, Rockefeller plaza, St Patrick's cathedral and shopping.

Very disappointed.

Usually, my rating on Yelp is right in line with the average, or better. Not in this case!

I was led to believe I would have a stellar experience at this hotel; between the reviews on Yelp, Hotwire and Hotels.com I thought I couldn't go wrong! Well - I was very, very wrong.

We arrived around noon on a Friday, not expecting to be able to check in. The attendant was not friendly at all when she rudely drove the point that check in was at 3 pm. She had a smug look on her face the entire transaction; I don't think she ever greeted me. It was as though I had interrupted her from her work. Uhm? I AM your work! We asked if it were possible at all to switch from a King room to a double, with no luck. Whatever. I'm sure if there was even a room, this lump on a log would never have given it to us.

We finished checking in and made our way to the door so we could stow our bags until the 3 pm check-in time. The bellman completely ignored us - and when I say completely - I mean, really. We were the only people, standing *right there* in front of him with our BAGS. Didn't look up, didn't even acknowledge us. Instead, he proceeded to help two different parties, one after the other, who both waked up well after we had been standing there!!! It must have been because one was a pushy business-looking man, and the other was a wealthy looking WASP-type, that we were completely invisible to him. I have honestly never been so insulted by a hotel staff member before. After he was done with them, we actually still had to get his attention and ASK him if we could leave our bags!!! Unbelievable.

We got to our room. It was the smallest NYC hotel room I've ever stayed in - and NOT the cheapest! The finishings looked like they hadn't been updated since 1990. Faux gold, ugly beige colors. Gross. The bathroom was the only (kind of) nice thing - actually a good size. And I'll admit, I'm a person who judges a hotel based on their toiletries - and the ones here were not impressive! Some no-brand that didn't smell good at all. I wasn't tempted to take then home in the least, and it's usually something I get really excited about at a hotel. The view was not even worth mentioning (I didn't expect that super-rude would have given us one).

We went down again the next day and asked a different attendant if a double was available - he gladly and quickly and accommodated our (rather humble!) request. He was super nice and seemed glad to help us, unlike the extremely rude woman the day before, who I honestly don't think ever even made eye contact with me. I've never felt more snubbed by hotel staff in my life.

The location of the hotel is prime, I'll give it that. Otherwise, I was not impressed by anything at all there! The rooms, small. The decor, gaudy and outdated. The service, absent. The price, not enticing (even with a discounted rate!).

I will NEVER be returning here, and will never recommend this hotel to ANYONE. With so many other options, literally next door, why would one subject themselves to deplorable treatment and sub-par accommodations.

PS: Everyone says that the rewards program takes care of you. Well, I was signed up. Never got my free beverage. Never heard mention of free wifi. When we left? Free newspapers littered the hallway, almost every door - except for ours! It was as though this hotel was determined to snub us in every way possible.

It was a long Friday that started in Chicago and after 3 delays on the ground then a delay in the air we finally landed at Newark to find out that the train wasnt running from that stop.  30 minutes later (midnight) we are on a shuttle bus to the city.  Our stop was the last stop, by the time we were exiting the shuttle we were the last people on the bus however the last suitcase on the bus was not ours!  So there we are at 1am with someone elses suitcase (with no phone number on their tag) checking in to the Omni Berkshire Place while freaking out as to what we were going to do!  We are starving, tired, annoyed, mad, etc...until we walk in to our room.  In honor of my 40th Birthday, the Omni had upgraded our room (which was awesome and large especially for New York), there was a stuffed bear on the bed holding a balloon, a bottle of champagne, a little red velvet cheesecake, and 2 chocolate covered strawberries!  It was very impressive and really turned our weekend around!  I felt very special and we truly enjoyed our stay.  They have now become our favorite hotel and New York and I will certainly be booking here again!  This may have just moved up to being my favorite Omni...well it may be tied with the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh!  

Oh, and 30 minutes after we checked in the woman called that took our suitcase!  WHEW!  

Thank you Omni for turning around such an unpleasant day!

The hotel it self and our room were beautiful but that's were the positives end. Our stay was stressed filled before we even arrived. I called the day before to ask about early check-in was told, no guarantees they'll add a note and I should call back tomorrow. The next day I called and was told no note on file and no room available by noon. We left our car and bags left and did not return till 430/ as I said the room was nice and relaxing
but at about 630 someone knocked twice and before I could put my pants on they barge in- it was housekeeping for turnover service. I was furious my wife wasn't dressed. She called the front desk to complain and was met with a dismissive manager who blamed us for not having yelled out don't come in. I can't believe how rude they were to her and how unapologetic they seemed. We asked for this policy to be either changed or at least teach their staff to wait longer than 30 seconds before coming into a room. We won't be staying or recommending the Omni to anyone.

We are Omni "Loyalty Members" & have stayed @ The Omni in L.A. which is very nice so when we saw our room @ the Omni, Berkshire, we were extremely disappointed! The room was tiny & looked out on what appeared to be a "Prison Yard". (see pic) As soon as we entered I smelled an
unpleasant sweet odor as if they were trying to disguise smoke or an unclean room. We asked the following day for them not to spray, however, they did anyway. We also asked for extra blankets which they didn't bring so we had to call again. We ordered breakfast in the room & the unfortunate fellow had to bring it on a large tray, not a wheeling table. We were obliged to eat with the plates on our laps in bed. This was not a pleasant stay. They did, however have a nice desert with "Happy Birthday" written because we went to N.Y. for my birthday. Also the bar restaurant was quite nice with very warm people, Roxie & Mo I believe.

I stay at the Omni every time that I am in NY for work. It is a comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. The gym is big enough to accommodate, even when everyone else seems to have the same idea to exercise in the morning before heading to our respective offices. The room is always tidy when I return from work. I had room service once and was not impressed, but there are plenty of places to get food in the area. Overall a decent place to stay and in the middle of many places to visit.

Excellent location. Very spacious room--spotless, modern, and thoughtfully appointed. The front desk and bell staff were friendly and accommodating. In an amazingly kind gesture, Suzanne, the manager wrote a handwritten card along with cake and champagne for my birthday--wow! I walked to Central Park, the Theatre district, Grand Central, MoMA, and several subway stations from here and found everything I needed easily. I highly recommend this hotel and will only stay here in NYC. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it would be nice to have quick access to coffee in the morning within the hotel-- but I don't think that's unusual in NYC. I stayed here by myself and felt completely safe and comfortable. I did not eat in Fireside so I can't review that.

My husband and I stayed there over the New Years weekend. This is a very nice, elegant old style hotel with friendly door men and bell hops. When I say old style, that means the decor and ambiance, the hotel is freshly renovated and everything is pristine.

The lobby Christmas decorations were stunning, and the rooms were generously sized for New York standard.  I always judge hotels by the bathrooms and these were of high quality, with deep tubs, great shower, and immaculately clean. Big thick towels and robes, too!

Our view was nothing to speak of, but the upper mid town location is excellent, only blocks away from Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's cathedral and Fifth Avenue, and an easy walk to Times Square.

The only downside is a really pricy restaurant and bar; even in Manhattan you can get a martini at a nice place for less than $18. And the bar staff is not even friendly!

Also, don't grab a bite to eat across the street at Isadora's Cafe. Terrible coffee and their buffet offerings are sub par compared to other similar venues all around the city.
Given the great restaurant choices in the city, however, it's not a problem to walk a few blocks for a wide selection at every price range.

I neglected to sign up for their Rewards program as others suggested, so we were annoyed to find out that they charged for WiFi. Don't make that mistake!

Overall, a very nice hotel in a great location!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel very much during my week in NYC. It's in a great location, the staff are polite, the rooms are comfortable and the view (or at least from my room) were amazing.

I'm from Texas so my spacial understanding of Manhattan is not the best but I found this hotel to be located right in the heart of almost everything I wanted to see. It's located very close to great shopping on 5th avenue, Central Park is just a few blocks north, times square is nearby, many beautiful cathedrals nearby and so many great restaurants and coffee shops.

The staff were polite (but not anywhere close to the Southern hospitality I am used to) and they were very helpful in taking care of issues that I had. The receptionists were good about taking off unusual mini bar charges that appeared on my bill which I definitely did not purchase. The concierge helped me find the best restaurants and helped me get into some.

The room I got was very comfortable. I'm not sure the size compared to the other rooms available but it was the same size I typically see in the South. The bed was comfortable. I could've taken the chair and ottoman home with me because it was incredibly comfortable and I spent much time working and reading in it. There was a lot of open space in the room which was great because I could lay out my suitcases open (I'm a fan of living out of my suitcases on trips) and have the ironing board positioned with iron ready to go. Even with that I still had lots of free space to move about. My favorite part must've been the large mirror that stood floor to ceiling at the entrance of the room, not because I'm conceded and like to look at myself but because there was an outlet next to it so I could sit comfortable while curling my hair rather than standing in a bathroom.

I did like that my room had a small foie before my actual room door that opened with my room key. And I misspoke about my favorite part of my room. It was not the giant mirror but in fact the amazing view I had of the city from my room. On entire wall (minus the area with the large closet) was all windows and the other one had a large single window that I found myself gazing out of frequently. It had a great view of the major street and people watching with all the cabs and lights was beautiful. I know there are lights everywhere but really watching the NYC lights and buzz of people were great from this window.

With the room at $331 per night I definitely got what I paid for. I would come to stay at this hotel again if I make it back to NYC anytime soon.

Omni Hotels does not honor Best Rate Guarantee even though the claim is within their policy guidelines. I booked on Omni's website for Omni Berkshire NY for 3 nights 9/5/15-9/8/15 and received confirmation. The total came to $867 before taxes.

I also found a lower rate at Travelzoo ( travelzoo.com/hotel-book… ) and was able to book successfully at a rate of $199/night for the exact same days. I followed the best rate guarantee procedures and submitted my claim immediately within the 24hr time period per their policy.

Omni Hotels Customer Care team has denied the claim stating several reasons. First reason I received over the telephone after my claim was denied was that Travelzoo is a "coupon" purchase and does not apply. This is NOT the case. Second reason they stated was because Travelzoo is a "membership" site. The site does not require membership to browse to and view offers. A user is also free to view availability. At the time of booking, Travelzoo does ask for an email address to create an account which they call "membership". Said "membership" is at no cost and has no requirements other then a legitimate email address. Lastly, there is no mention of membership in the best rate guarantee policy disqualifying a best rate claim.

I find your practices extremely deceptive and feel that you've trained your employees to go out of their way to not honor what you've advertised and promoted.
