VERY PLEASED!  Awesome staff and new - almost European feeling hotel.  My only complaint is the rubber eggs served for breakfast - other than that I urge you to give this place a try - the location can't be beat!  Ask for a higher floor at the back of the building for the quietest hotel in Manhattan!  Highly recommend!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! This hotel is super-clean and the staff are amazing. The location cannot be beat. The complimentary hot breakfast had some nice options - and you can eat your breakfast on the outdoor patio or the inside dining area. Our king room was very comfortable for 2 people - even the bathroom was nice. And I'll say it again, because it bears repeating, super-clean! The doorman/security-man, Marvin, is just the nicest person. It was great returning to the hotel each night and being greeted in such a welcoming way. He made our stay extra special. Springhill Suites Midtown Manhattan is officially our favorite NYC hotel!

As a Marriot member, Im very happy with this hotel. it upholds the Marriot tradition. Breakfast provided, but coffee maker, fridge and microwave still in your room. Bravo! I booked last minute Nov 23rd so I paid a little more, but you cant always plan what life throws at you and it was nice to be able to have a clean, well managed facility within reason price wise on real short notice. Thank you Marriot, I will be back.

Great stay! We are Marriott lovers and were so happy to find this Springhill Suites for our first family trip to NYC. Having the pullout couch for my 2-year old was key. Compared to other SHS that I've stayed at, the rooms are slightly smaller than normal...but it's NYC! They make up for it with modern amenities and great location.

Fun fact - cute little wine bar next door at The Strand!

Amazing location and clean, comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff. Of course, there are nicer hotels, but this was amazing for the price. We had a wonderful stay.

Stayed for the weekend to introduce our kids (ages 4 and 5) to NYC. Location was ideal. Could walk to Times Square and Grand Central Station. Also close to Subways we needed to head up or downtown.

Staff was courteous. They went out of their way to engage the kids. Room was much larger than most in the city. Clean and very comfortable for the four of us. Feels more like a boutique than chain. Free breakfast was also a nice touch. Will stay there again with the kids.

Easy to find and great location. Crappy in-room coffee, no couch/love seat and temperature control only for show. Our AC didn't work and the fan churned all night without cooling. Valet had to be called instead of being present at a valet booth.  Bathroom vanity in room not optimal for those of us ladies that have hair straightening to do - there isn't enough surface to set a hair drier and flat iron on.  Bed was comfortable but side tables were dirty.  Overall, not that impressed. Enjoyed our stay at Marriott Courtyard Central Park South far better (53rd & 6th)

Super location. Centrally located to the most popular attractions. Very clean and updated. Great complimentary breakfast buffet (more than just bagels!). Bedding was extremely comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Wi-Fi was free and fast enough to stream movies.  Microwave and fridge were a really nice bonus for a NYC hotel. Doesn't get any better than this at this price point.

Stayed here twice in two weeks. This hotel just opened in mid-May, therefore everything is new and shiny. The staff members are a nice group of folks and hooked me up with a room that faced the Empire State Building, which was a sight to behold when lit up at night.

There is a continental breakfast available in the mornings. It's nothing special but it will serve you just fine if you're traveling for fun and want something light to start your day.

The shower, bathroom and in-room desk were nice. They have flat panel TVs mounted on the wall with an arm so you can swing them out and in different directions. However, the room safe did not function, nor did it work in my colleague's room. (It appeared to have power, but would not lock, rendering it useless.)

Overall, I would definitely recommend the SpringHill Suites Midtown/5th Ave. It's easy walking distance from Penn Station, Grand Central, Bryant Park, Herald Square, and Times Square.

We picked this hotel because it is fairly new and is in a great location.  We could not have been happier with our choice.  We stayed for 4 nights and had an easy time getting uptown, downtown, and going to NJ for the day.  As requested, our room was high up and had a view of the Empire State Building, which is very pretty at night.  Although the room was small, just as most NYC hotels are, it was well appointed.  Not only was our room equipped with a mini refrigerator and a microwave, disposable plates and utensils were also provided, which I thought was a nice touch.  Breakfast was included and added to the convenience when we were able to grab something quickly each morning before heading out.  The breakfast selection was pretty standard - coffee, juice, cereals, eggs, bagels...I did wish that they had more offerings in fresh fruits.  We didn't experience any problems during our stay.  I do want to give a special mention to the gentleman who checked us in, I think (hope) his name is Joe.  He was efficient and courteous upon our arrival and he also helped us later on.  We had needed a sewing kit one day and requested one before heading out in the morning.  When we returned, I stopped at the front desk to see if I could pick one up and Joe told me that it should already be in our room.  We did not find a sewing kit, but shortly after we got into our room, someone delivered sewing kits along with some complimentary snacks and an apology that housekeeping had not left the kits in our room earlier.  Joe must have checked on this after I talked with him and quickly remedied the situation - THAT is great service.  Thank you for the great experience!

Great Place to Stay!

We have stayed in NY a few times and this has been our favorite hotel so far. In standard NY style the rooms are small but in comparison they are nicer than most in Manhattan In the same price range. The room was modern and well kept.
They also offered free breakfast the weekend we were there, which was a nice start of the day. It's close to Times Square, penn station, and grand central station. It's really a great central location.
The only negative I found was in the later time (8:30-9:30am) of the free breakfast, the elevators got really busy and full, and took some time to find room on one of the two they had; but we would certainly stay there again.

Beautiful room, incredibly friendly staff, and free breakfast?!  Done!

The bed was incredibly cozy, and I loved the overall decor too.  I had two full days of meetings so starting off with a hearty and delicious breakfast was awesome.

The staff was very helpful and courteous.

I will always choose to stay here when in town for business!

Big rooms for a NYC location.  The place seems pretty new and the staff was friendly.  I would have given them 5 stars, but the housekeeping staff needs to step up.  Hairs on the bathroom floor and stuff, kinda a pet peeve of mine.  I do not want to see a long hair on the floor or on the bed, tells me you are not doing your job.

I recently stayed at this Marriott property.  Was so happy to have stayed here.
Very modern, new, totally updated, comfortable beds and room and clean.

Front desk - helpful and friendly staff.  Breakfast included was decent.

Would definitely stay there again.  Close to Harold Sq and Penn and Grand Central.

Location: fantastic! 10 minutes from Times Square, Penn Station, Grand Central and Bryant Park.

Building: new with a lime green feel. Views for my room faced a decrepit creepy building but we didn't opt for a city view room.

Room: I could hear the elevator ding and peoples doors opening and closing. Nice flag screen tv's, fridge, microwave, iron and blow dryer. Heating vent is somewhat loud and bathroom door is frosted glass (so nighttime bathroom use can result in unwanted light) so bring ear plugs and an eye mask if you're a light sleeper.

Breakfast is good and features scrambled eggs and a meat dish (usually pork sausage). Milk, cereal, coffee, bread, fruits, yogurt and oatmeal are also available.

Service is good and attentive. Check in at 4pm and check out at noon.

There's a gym in the basement which I didn't check out because I was on vacation.

The rooms were clean, the staff was gracious, and the location is great. Breakfast included hot & cold items, and for a celiac I was able to eat! Breakfast staff was on top of the supply. Checked our bags for one last whirl around town, no hassle and no charge. I would definitely recommend and plan to return.

For this price point, and after a two-night stay this week, I'd definitely give 5 stars for both room quality (cleanliness, design, special utilization) & service (front desk, maintenance, and housekeeping).

***This SpringHill Suites is a new property and it is a nice one; rooms are very comfortable and have good touches even if they are not that big; this SpringHill Suites also showcases a surprisingly good complimentary breakfast as well as reasonable Manhattan room rates on weekends***

SpringHill Suites is part of the Marriott brand and it is a more upscale version of Marriott's Fairfield Inn.  Like Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites offers a complimentary breakfast buffet.  Where SpringHill Suites separates itself from Fairfield Inns though is its all suites setup where you get large living areas that are complete with kitchenettes.

This new SpringHill Suites also has an all suites setup though given that this property is right in Manhattan (great location that is convenient to Times Square and also not that far from Central Park though definitely a long walk), the rooms are not that big.  It gets a little crammed in this SpringHill Suites, but the rooms here do feature all the SpringHill Suites pluses like microwave, mini fridge, sofa, and desk.  The rooms also have an in-room safe (a great plus for any stay in New York), complimentary Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and an attractive bathroom with a great glass shower.  The room also features a modern look.

The fitness center is 24 hours and offered several good machines including treadmills and ellipticals.

All guests at this SpringHill Suites are provided a complimentary breakfast buffet and it is surprisingly good.  The breakfast buffet featured great cold items like yogurt, whole fruit, breakfast cereals (including sugary options like Cap'n Crunch with Berries), breakfast breads, and really good croissants (very flaky and crispy with lots of layers).  I also enjoyed how they offered individual packets of Nutella among their condiments.

The hot bar items were okay.  There was oatmeal as well as turkey sausage.  The scrambled eggs were moist but had a weird block-like texture (not sure if it was because they were powdered eggs, liquid eggs or just ended up that way because of how the eggs were prepared).  Still, the scrambled eggs came with good garnishes including salsa, shredded cheese and spinach.  Drink options included milk and orange juice and apple juice from juice dispensers; unfortunately, the orange juice was watery while the apple juice was overly sweet.

Service at this SpringHill Suites was very pleasant and professional like almost all Marriott brand hotels.

Weekend room rates for Manhattan are not bad if you plan ahead.  This SpringHill Suites is one of the least expensive Marriott brand options in the area and the location is surprisingly good; it is very close to key attractions and is walkable to Penn Station, which is the station you use if you are coming to New York (or leaving New York) via Newark International Airport or Amtrak.

I really enjoyed this SpringHill Suites.  It is always nice to stay at a new property and this hotel feels new and fresh and unlike a lot of new hotels, room rates are not that bad.  Hopefully, this hotel continues to be a nice hotel because it is a satisfying option for a short or long stay in Manhattan.

Given that this hotel is in Manhattan, parking (valet) is very expensive.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Centrally located with super easy access to the busiest parts of town --- really close to great korean food too. =)

Love:
+Free hot breakfast
+Clean gym
+Clean and modern rooms
+Free candies up front!
+Quiet because it's not on a very busy street (we chose the backside of hotel)
+2 blocks away from metro
+Impeccable housecleaning

Cons:
+If you go to the gym, it's on the ground floor, which will take forever to get back up to the floor you want. =)
+Rooms are on the cramped side ... (we thought our king bed really was a queen).. but not real big deal

"Room service? Send up a larger room." -- A Night at the Opera (1935)

What a great little hotel I found by accident! We were originally staying elsewhere due to a traveling companions preference, but when she cancelled at the last minute, there was no reason not to stay in the heart of Midtown as we usually do.  So I called Marriott Customer Service and sweet-talked my way into a last minute change without breaking the bank. Man - this is why I love Marriott. However, they only had King rooms for us - and there were two of us. Whatever, we would deal.

When we checked in, it turned out that the guy had called ahead and managed to find us an upgrade to a double room WITH a fabulous view of the Empire State Building - WHAT?  The woman at the front desk was excited when we checked in as she recognized my name and was so happy to give us the news that they had taken care of us - amazing.

The room was really nice - perfectly laid out and while the bathroom was on the small size, it did the trick. We had a wardrobe and dresser for putting our food away, a luggage rack for putting the suitcase on and plenty of space to move around, dress, etc. The beds were comfy and the air conditioner worked great. Plenty of outlets in the room for plugging in devices and free wifi.

Housekeeping kept the place in tip-top shape and all the staff was courteous as we were coming and going (hailing cabs, storing our bags, etc.).  I would definitately stay here again and again.

The hotel is modern and affordable.  The hotel itself is really 4 stars with a good location and breakfast.  The only knock on the hotel itself is "smells" seem to travel through the vents. One day was popcorn the next was cigarette smoke but that was rather minor. The desk staff was very nice and helpful for our 2 nights.

It drops to 2 stars due to the valet parking.  We left it for 2 nights.  When leaving we noticed that the ash tray was drained of the coins we use for tolls. It is only a few dollars so I find it more odd than anything. I don't expect this kind of petty theft from this company.

Would stay again but would never leave anything unprotected with their valet.

This is a great place to stay if you need modest lodgings in the center of midtown Manhattan. The property is brand new. The furnishings are hardly broken in, the elevators are fast, and the halls are spotless. I had a room facing 37th street, and--surprise--no street noise reached the 17th floor. The room came with an unobstructed view of the Empire State building and was spacious. They serve a simple breakfast that covers most bases and will get you started. The staff is totally friendly and helpful--front desk, breakfast staff, and housekeepers. The lobby is small and not really designed for lounging--guests use it to wait for people and for rides--but there are decent lounges on the block (like the Strand, next door, and Reichenbach Hall; you will probably want to avoid xxx Vivid down the block--unless that's your thing--need I say more?).

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that breakfast ends at 9 AM and disappears rapidly thereafter. This is OK for business folks and early risers, but it's too early for leisure people and tourists who sleep late. Other than that, there were no problems whatsoever. This is a well run and welcoming property. I would definitely stay here again. Note: Please extend the breakfast hours.
