    *Air conditioning worked
*CO Bigelow products in the bathrooms (love!)
    *Nice tilework in bathroom
    *Fantastic location
    *Nice views
    *Friendly & helpful staff
*Room did not smell (damning with faint praise?)
    *Room service was extremely prompt
*Showers are easy to step into (this might matter a lot if you have difficulty getting in & out of showers)
*Pillows pretty comfy (this matters a lot to me!)

--Decor wasn't to my liking (that is individualistic, though)
--The beds were REALLY sharp-edged. We kept hurting ourselves on them. This was my biggest con. Ow!
    --Poor shower pressure
    --No tub
--The lobby is loud and it took a long time to check in/out even when there was not many people ahead; the staff is friendly & also feel the need to ask all sorts of personal questions. Again, this might be a matter of taste; it wasn't for me
--Small. I know this is NYC, so I give them a pass on this, but there is no place to put the wastebasket in the bathroom
--The food from room service was poor; the soft boiled egg was actually all liquid and the croissants, etc. were inedible (stale); they never gave any salt etc. or forks!
--They never took out the trash, which in a room that small was notice-able--and when they cleaned up after room service they left behind things; I dunno, is that something worth complaining about?

Overall, considering the price was $400 per night, I would say see if you can find another spot, but, if this is where you want to stay, then you could do worse.

I didn't feel like  a tourist, I felt like I lived in New York City! 5 stars for service and friendliness of the guest staff. Not an extremely large hotel, but quaint and well-designed beautiful decor. Everything is fresh and new. In the heart of Greenwich Village. We had a seamless convenient and memorable trip. Will return to the Jade Hotel. 100% satisfied with stay. This place has a good vibe.

i decided to meet my friend at the bar at The Jade Hotel to try it out as i live right around the corner. My friend and I sat at the bar for about 20 minutes whilst the staff had a staff meeting in the dining room. when they were done no one came to help us so we went to ask them to serve us a drink. the response was "oh, there's a function on tonight the bar is closed" no apology. rude and a waste of time

We stayed at the jade for 4 nights the end of October. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small but it's NY. We had 2 double beds in case one of our daughters that live there wanted to spend the night. They never did which was good because the beds were small and we each slept in one. When you shower, the whole floor was wet because of the half door.
The lobby was very quaint and cute. The location as great. We walked everywhere. Around the corner is Murray's bagels and they have the best bagels in NYC...
Overall, I would definitely stay there again. Cute hotel with great staff.

Okay, I still love this hotel - but it is downright unaffordable now. I snagged a room for around $200 per night during my first stay, which I thought was just the right amount. Now, I just looked for my upcoming stay and it has tripled!!!!! This makes me sad. The prices are on par with the Four Seasons or Ritz (which it should not be.) This hotel is intimate and sweet and very well done, but for the size alone of the rooms - I would not pay more than $275 a night. Anything over that is just greedy. Yuck.. another NYC hotel just may have bit the dust.

    Great hotel, worth the money.

Clean, comfy room with a walk-out balcony; room service was wonderful; fabulous staff; great location.  (I usually stay at the Gramercy Park Hotel, but I was visiting my daughter at NYU so i selected this hotel based on location.)

Only complaints: I was on the second floor, right above the restaurant/bar and the music was so loud on a Friday night (from 7pm to 2 am) I thought it was coming from the room next door. Also, the a/c was a bit loud, but it helped drown out the music.

I would stay here again...but I would request a room on a higher floor.

I like this place. The lobby is pretty cute, the room was decent sized for NYC and had nice furnishings. Location is very good too. A good, boutique hotel.

Two areas for improvement: 1. housekeeping. I'm not convinced they actually cleaned my room and instead just made the bed. The toiletries weren't replaced and nothing tidied. But they did have a turndown service with delicious treats from the local Bees Knees (major points for that).

    2. My friend and I met for dinner at their restaurant. Service was pretty poor. Twice we had a busboy remove drinks that were not empty. Toward the end of the dinner the waiter replaced both of our drinks without us asking for seconds so we thought it was their graceful way of apologizing for removing our drinks prematurely. Turns out we were wrong and were charged for a second round. That was rude and I would have complained to mgmt if I had the energy. Service was not at par with the price of the place, although the ambiance was awesome.

I'd say 4 stars is slightly generous and if they improved their services it would merit it. If prices were reasonable I'd stay here again.

Wow...WHAT A FIND.  If you want a fabulous hotel in a fantastic location, look no further. Super cute neighborhood with tons of great restaurants and bars, lovely common areas in the hotel, and pretty fantastic views on the upper floors. Rooms are well-appointed, comfy beds, nice amenities. The restaurant is decently priced and excellent for all meals, plus have a nicely thought out wine list. Employees are gracious, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area.

This is definitely not your normal NY hotel experience- for the value, location, and quality, I will be back and back and back.

So. I must say, I like the hotel itself. The rooms were tiny, but clean, functional, comfortable...despite ours being right by the elevator and being able to hear everything that transpired in the hallway.

That said, I will never stay here again because of the staff.

    1) I had "pre-paid" a 3 night stay, and at the 11th hour our plans changed and we were only able to stay 2 nights. I called the hotel to give them a courtesy head's up (NOT asking for the 3rd night refunded; just to let them know so they could release the room). The staff passed me around to 3 different curt people; the final one told me I had to email the change in writing (which, why should I when I presumably already paid for the night; it would have only benefitted the hotel to know they could actually get twice the revenue on the room). I had booked through Tablet.com (my favorite for small boutique bookings) and complained to them; they called on my behalf and got the 3rd night removed from my account. Huge thanks to them for handling that, but definitely left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

    2) Restaurant staff was, while kind, seriously lacking in attentiveness, even during extremely slow times. Food was meh.

    3) The final straw was when my business partner, who checked in before I did, had put down her personal debit card to hold the room and realized they had authorized a $600 hold on the card. OK, not a huge deal, but she wanted to change it out for our corporate credit card vs personal debit card. Totally understandable! It took her FOUR trips to the front desk PLUS three calls to her bank to get them to reverse the charges on her debit card, even after they had charged an additional temporary $600 to our corporate card. Absolutely unacceptable and they should be embarrassed to have staff who would do that. Particularly when TWICE the front desk staff told her, "oh don't you just want to leave it and deal with it on check out?" When we're checking out at 4:30 AM to make a 6:00 AM flight. Umm no, I don't want to deal with it at check out. Do it right the first time around, and don't make us ask three more times.

It's really disappointing, because the value and the location and the style were great. But I don't travel to be treated that way, and just won't continue to support organizations that think it's ok to behave that way to clients.

The place is pricey. The location is amazing, central, and close to the subway. It was quiet and intimate. However, for this kind of money the quality control definitely needs improvement. The room is tiny, as are most NYC hotels, but the desk in the room is too big and makes small even smaller. Little things were just off -- for example, the glass shelves in the bathroom were poorly constructed and sloppily assembled. The gym is adequate, but in every hotel gym there should be a spray bottle of bleach for wiping off the equipment. This is just basic and there's no reason why not to have it. The bottled water in the room tasted like it came from an algae spring. No coffee maker in the room and no movies to order on the TV. The glass panel on the shower failed to prevent water from spilling on the floor. In sum, the Jade Hotel, while hip and big on the cool factor, is not worth the $300/night price tag. You can do better.

We had two rooms for four nights at this delightful hotel. My son is a dialysis patient and his unit was a three minute walk from the Jade. The staff were friendly, charming and unfailingly helpful. The dining room is lined with great black and white local photos and the hostess was very happy to identify the subjects (all famous) and the photographer. The door man, Brian helped my daughter carry armloads of stuff to her car, parked a block away. Initially we planned to eat out but the food was delicious, so we kept returning to the hotel. I highly recommend the Jade Hotel and the price is right for this great location. A very find and of course we'll return.

Lovely, lovely! My mom and I had the pleasure of staying at the Jade recently. To me, the location can't be beat. Out of the hustle and bustle of mid town and in walking distance to wonderful places to eat. The service in this hotel is top notch.  The doormen were quick to help and happy to do their job. The young woman who was our cocktail waitress during happy hour in the lounge was an absolute delight. The bartenders we experienced were knowledgable and seemed to enjoy working the bar. There is however, one woman who worked the front desk who'd doesn't really seem to like people. When we were checking in, she was extremely curt with me.  I had another incident with her when I was speaking to another employee at the front desk where she decided to cut into the conversation and be rude once again.  I have a friend who stayed at this hotel in the fall and had the same experience with this woman.
The rooms are small, but well appointed and finishes are very pretty. Can't wait to come back with my husband!

Just Stayed at The Jade for one night. Probably won't be back. As expected, it's pricey. For the money, we expected much more. Granted, much of my opinion is centered on personal preference, however, when someone tries to actually break into your room, you leave with a bad feeling. Management thought it might be an employee. Really? Wow.
Very small room and a European type shower that had no enclosure at all resulting in the entire bathroom floor being flooded with water after a shower. In addition, the toilet seat had to be held up with one hand to pee. Geez..what are they thinking.
Bottom line is given the number of choices available, I would stay somewhere else.

If expense is not an issue, than the Jade will provide for you a charming and very stylish experience. Clean and beautifully appointed rooms are your retreat after a highly stimulating stroll in the Village. Friendly and solicitous staff will do everything from making dinner reservations to pushing elevator buttons  for you. The lobby, with its bizarre book choices and prohibition-era candles is a fun hang out before or after one's NYC exploit

I stayed at the Jade Hotel on the 6th day of its opening. There were some minor glitches that still needed to be worked out. Some of the glitches included, phones not working in the room, a bit of a wait to get room key. Other than the minor things the hotel is clean, stylish and chic. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The hotel staff was ultra friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to go back once they have worked out all their kinks.
The hotel is on a quiet block full of brownstones and is close to all.

I love this hotel! I came here the week it opened and I had such a wonderful stay.  It's a hidden gem. It's literally across the street from the New School and conveniently near Murray's Bagels. However, it's so easy to miss. I walked by it twice before I realized that it was the hotel.  Inside it has a cool library feel and our rooms were very 1920's.  The beds were ridiculously comfortable.  The rooms were small, and I didn't like how the shower wasn't fully covered, but my overall experience definitely surpassed all the negatives.  The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and quick to help all their guests with their questions and their needs.

I'm sure with more time, this place will become more expensive and constantly booked because of it's location, so definitely try to fit in a stay before it does.

Oh and also, they have free wi-fi. Awesome.

My husband and I stayed at the Jade Hotel while i was in New York running the marathon this year.

We found the rooms to be some of the biggest we've ever stayed in in New York. The bathroom was spacious and the room gave us more than enough space to really spread out - which was crucial with all of our race gear, prep, etc.

The hotel lobby is so quaint and welcoming. You feel like you are in someones living room. We had some friends over for celebratory drinks after the race and the Jade's lobby served to be the perfect location for this.

We never ate at the restaurant, but it never seemed that busy.

The location is good if you prefer a quiet , quaint street. Just around the corner is busy 7th street with an amazing bagel shop (Murrays) and shopping, nail salons, duane reade, etc...

I look forward to my next stay at The Jade!

I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week when he comes to visit. The location is great it's close to west village, chelsea everywhere! We got a pretty good deal for less than $200 per night. The room decor is very hip and it's clean and tidy though the room is not that spacious but it's new york! I love this place better than many of the other four star hotels in New York that I stayed. The wine bar inside the hotel is terrific! They have really good food!

Service was great and beyond what I expected.  Anytime I needed something or asked for a recommendation the staff was more than helpful. This goes for the entire hotel staff, not one negative experience from check-in to check-out.

Room was on the smaller side but pretty standard NYC size, not a big deal since we were hardly in the room anyways. Decor was very pleasant, and made it feel like we weren't staying in just your general hotel.

This place does it right; My fiancée and I will be returning for all future NYC trips!

Since this post, today the morning manager amended our bill with some compensation for the inconvenience and sincere apologies for last night. I don't retract my review of last night below however, as that was inexcusable. But aside from the ridiculous inconvenience and the awful service of the night manager, the hotel is decent.

Staying here this evening for our first time in New York. It's 9:30 pm and a letter was just silently slipped under our door to inform us the hotel's "water will be off from 9 am to 5 pm tomorrow. Use of toilets, sinks and showers will be unavailable."

Went to the front desk to see if our day would be compensated considering we wouldn't even be able to USE THE TOILET. The rudest hostess I have ever encountered said we would not be compensated in any way and also said, "A word of advice: if this small inconvenience is the worst thing that's ever happened to you then you're pretty lucky."

Most awful hotel we've stayed at in our 12 years of traveling. Will never, ever be returning again. No stars for the worse service in this beautiful city's history, Jade Hotel! Disgraceful.

I stayed here for almost two weeks during a renovation of our apartment nearby. CAN I PLEASE MOVE IN?

This place is perfect. It's trendy and comfortable without being obnoxious. From the warm gas lamps drawing you in from the street, to the staff that are so kind and helpful.

The restaurant is pretty good, although strangely empty most the day. The room (1703) wasn't huge, but it had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, desk area, large TV, big closet, a modern bathroom, and the bonus of a killer view of downtown. The wifi situation was slightly annoying (I had to re-sign-in every few hours), but I imagine that wouldn't bother most guests.
The gym is small but sufficient, with all new equipment, so bring your workout clothes!

My only gripe is that there are 100+ rooms but only 2 elevators. Not only are the elevators slow and stop at most every floor, but at one point there was just one elevator. There were a few times when it took 10 minutes just to get out.

Overall, I loved this place and you will too!

I stayed here for 5 days during a business trip and although rooms are pretty small, this hotel is great. The size of the room is standard NY size I guess so that didn't bother me.
The bed was amazing and because of the curtains blocking light so well, I slept really well despite the timezone difference (CEST).
One thing I would point out is that I couldn't hear outside noises which is great but I could hear my neighbor sneeze or watch tv.
    Would definitely come back!

I had such a great experience here. The bed was amazingly comfortable, I seriously slept like a baby. Those drapes! I didn't even realize what time it was when I woke up because those babies block out the light so well. The staff was also courteous and allowed me to check in early and even held my bags for me once I checked out. Everything was clean and I loved the art deco vibe. This will be my go-to hotel every time I visit the city for sure. Great location, right next to everything I love.

My mate and I stayed at The Jade for a marvelous city getaway - four nights (plus I stayed an extra night for business).

We loved it. We ended up staying in a penthouse, and while it was really just a comfortable room, the bathroom -- and bathtub!!! - were swell, and the snowdrift balcony and view of the empire state building made it romantic and perfect.

    In particular:

:: The deco decor was charming and welcome.

:: The bathtub was so so so deep and dreamy.

:: The location was so very easy and pleasant.

:: We liked the bar and the oyster appetizer. Yummy and festive.

By the time we left, The Jade felt like home which must be the best compliment. I miss my vacation and The Jade just writing this review.

The ONLY thing I wasn't wild about was the vaguely modern front desk area and music. Modern art and music didn't feel right here! I'd go more retro!

I have different standards when it comes to hotel rooms in NY. If the Jade was in any other city it would likely be getting 3 stars based on the small room, unimpressive bathroom (although somewhat large based on ny standards). But for a Manhattan hotel Jade met or perhaps even exceeded my expectations.

It's all about location in NY and the Jade is conveniently located just a few blocks from my office. Other hotels nearby that I've experience are the ACE and Dream and I highly prefer this one.

It has a cozy ski lodge type of vibe, perfect for a cold January day. I didn't spend very much time in my room or the hotel overall, but did have one of the best nights of sleep in a long time. Most likely because I didn't have any children with me on this visit.

The people who work here are also very friendly and helpful..and were sweet enough to point directionally challenged me in the right away.

There's no shortage of hotels in this area, but I would book Jade again for future visits to Manhattan.

I am absolutely enchanted by this hotel.  Impeccable service, charming, clean stylish rooms, tasteful predominantly marble bathrooms, great central location, comfy bed, good TV, great restaurant.

I have to say I have had a flawless experience at this hotel and will be back - without hesitation.  This is a great alternative to so many overpriced alternatives in the city.  Oh...and FREE wifi!

And free wine at Happy hour!

Wine and internet, who could ask for more?

I stayed at the Jade earlier this month with my two daughters.  We were on a vacation from San Diego and knew we wanted to stay at a unique place that had charm and reflected New York. We chose the right place!  We arrived at the hotel earlier than the standard check in time and the staff was able to accommodate us immediately. The lobby was quaint while elegant and the staff treated us like royalty. Our room had a perfect view of the Freedom Tower. The Jade is about a block away from the subway.  There is a great bagel place around the corner. I had guests come to visit and there was a parking garage for them a block and a half away. The hotel is close to Washington Square Park and many restaurants and shops. The only thing that I would have changed was the size of the room. It was small but I think this is typical in the city.  If I ever go tack to NYC, I will stay here. You will not be disappointed!!!

Excellent!! We found this place last minute using the Hotel Tonight App and were pleasantly surprised with the experience despite lack of planning or foresight! In fact, as we were walking down the street looking for the hotel, I spotted this gorgeous building across the street: beautiful decor, warm, cozy interior...it was The Jade Hotel!! Definitely happy that was the spot we were looking for.
Food was decent (I had the veg flatbread but my husband loved the oysters) and wine selection was ample and the bartender helped my husband find something to suit his palate (off the menu).
Rooms were small but impeccably decorated-lots of attention to detail which I appreciate. Room darkening shades were magical and there wasn't much noise heard from the street or adjoining rooms. A fantastic last minute find!!

The Jade Hotel might just be my new favorite place to stay in New York City.  It's in a great location, right in Greenwich Village and about a 10 minute walk to my office.  The decor is tastefully elegant and well thought out, while the mood is warm and inviting.  Sure, the rooms are small, but they are exceptionally comfortable and well appointed even given the dimensions.  Service is professional and personable.  The bar, although a bit small, is a great place to enjoy a well crafted cocktail.  Even the food in the adjacent restaurant is pretty good.  Best of all?  The Jade Hotel is remarkably affordable for NYC.  My average rate for a week long stay was a shade under $200 a night.  Are you kidding me?  So what if it's not as hip and happening as the Dream or Standard.  Those places are both too expensive and annoying for my tastes.  Next time I'm in NYC, the Jade will be where I rest my head.

Didn't stay here just visited friends in town.

Really upscale feeling from the moment you walk in. Great location for 14st subway and 14street bus cross line.

The hotel is really fancy inside and service is excellent I heard. Rooms are really small. You barely can open your luggage in there.

The rooms were kept nice and tidy and they had Tivoli Audio in the room.

If you wan't a view to the empire state building you should probably try asking for a room in the 17th or 18th floor because in 16th you could just barely see the tip of the building.

Would stay here if had the money or if you got an awesome deal!

The best thing going for the Jade is the location. It's a great spot in Greenwich village and in walking distance to Union square, the West Village, Flatiron etc.

    The good:
The gym is new and has a few nice machines.
Love that they give you BabyCakes vegan cookies with turn down but we stayed two nights and only got cookies one night.
The decor in the rooms is pretty.

    The bad
Bathrooms so small everything gets wet. The walls for the shower are so tiny that it is impossible to shower with out gallons of water ending up all over the floor.
The rooms are small and I mean painfully small. If you bring a big piece of luggage you may have to ask for the bell man to hold onto it during your stay as it likely will not fit in your room.
The bar seems poorly run as they were out of several cocktails both days. This is New York... They should have ran out and purchased whatever it was they  needed to make these drinks.
When I went to leave and claim my luggage it took over 20 minutes for them to bring it. It was quite absurd and leads me to believe the hotel is painfully understaffed.

Overall I was unimpressed and I would not stay here again.

The decor is very nice, the lobby has coiffured ceilings, and a fire place. The location is ideal, nestled in Greenwich village. Service was efficient and friendly.

However the rooms are spartanly furnished, and more pretty than functional. They ought to provide more table space and probably one of those folding luggage stands, which I thought were pretty much standard.

The rooms are small but the amenities are very nice and the staff is professional.  The doorman and his red umbrellas are a very nice enhancement to the experience and to the neighborhood. They should make people more aware of the elevator, as otherwise you need to climb a flight of stairs every time you leave, and there is no noticeable sign directing you to an elevator.

This is a nice tree-lined residential Greenwich Village neighborhood that has a serious lack of hotels so this new hotel is a well-needed addition, and the rates are competitive. It has only been here about 3 years and the restaurant & bar have caught on with the locals and have a nice downtown vibe.  You should leave the car home.  There is very little good parking around here. This block (13th Street between 5th and 6th Ave.'s) used to be the truck entrances for all the businesses on 14th Street so that is why it is zoned for truck traffic and there is no parking during the day. With that said, the block has also had something of a renaissance in the past several years and all the truck bays are replaced by boutiques, schools and their dorms (New School and Parsons), restaurants and this hotel. There is also an independent Film Theater on the block and several other schools (much of NYU) all around in every direction. Union Square and Washington Square Park are within walking distance, as well as most of the Village and the Meat Packing District.  Buses and most of the subways that link you to the entire city are also within walking distance. There are some excellent restaurants right in the neighborhood, and on 6th Avenue - and especially on University, a nice Avenue for strollling, a block and a half east of here. And there is excellent world-class shopping on 5th Avenue, north of 14th street, up to 23rd Street.

Just stayed here for the first time last week.  So glad my office recommends we stay there on business trips - it's fabulous!

Location = stellar.  Really quick walk to Union Square, short cab to the West Village and Soho.  Didn't get to spend a lot time in Greenwich Village unfortunately, but I know there's tons of great stuff right in the hood.

Service = wonderful.  The staff was awesome, and not in the fake annoying way they are at some hotels (and on Amy Schumer sketches).  They were really helpful in helping me get where I needed to go, and even sent up extra bedtime cookies when I told them how delicious they were.

The Bedtime Cookies = OMG.  I think they get them from a bakery called Bees Knees.  Really sad I didn't have time to check this place out, but so happy I got some special treats on my pillow.  They are like a cookie and cake pop in one, and so damn yummy!

The Rooms = Sufficient.  The place is small so don't expect a big resort style room, but it was perfect for what I needed.  And I love that they had C.O. Bigelow bathroom products.

Will definitely be staying here on my next trip.  Love the Jade!
