History

Established in 2013.

"The foundation for the Quin was laid at the peak of the international Arts and Crafts movement, merely steps away from Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Opera, The New York City Ballet, The New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and Broadway. The original beaux-arts building was privileged to host some of the century's greatest Musicians, Composers, and Conductors. From 1929-1941, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, composer, pianist, international humanitarian, and the first Prime Minister of a free Poland following World War I, made the Quin his official home while exiled from Europe during World War II. Georgia O'Keeffe, revered for her large-format paintings of enlarged blossoms and cityscapes, and modernist Marc Chagall too painted Manhattan red from the luxury of the  quarters they kept within the property. The Quin stands on the shoulders of its robust artistic inheritance while shaping a dynamic and fresh framework for luxury hospitality.

The hotel is new and modern and the staff is generally friendly and well prepared with the exception of their ""Attache"" service. These attaches (concierges) are young and obviously hired for their looks and not their knowledge of the city. They failed to respond to an advance email requesting theater tickets, couldn't recommend a decent restaurant in the area for a mature couple and the best they could do was to book a limo from the hotel to La Guardia at $220.00 when I could find several for Half that price (which compares with the limo that brought me to the hotel). The rooms are tiny (but the baths are modern and very nice for NYC), the restaurant is still closed and there is almost no space to store clothing which makes a stay of even 4 days (as was the case with my wife and I) fairly uncomfortable. While the average rate for the stay was "only" $600/night (rate is only $400/night on Sundays and Mondays) the hotel is no where near that level of service.

We recently stayed at the newly remodeled Quin Hotel over Thanksgiving.  The hotel is conveniently located at 57th and 6th close to Central Park.  The rooms are beautiful, modern and state of the art.  A tablet controls the shades, lights, alarm clock, temperature etc.  The bathroom is beautifully appointed with marble, thick turkish towels, Fresh Brand toiletry products and a steam shower.  Service at the hotel is top notch.  The most outstanding feature about the room had to be the bed which was incredibly comfortable.  As an added bonus we were able to comfortably watch the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade from the lobby with first rate views.  Overall a great experience and we look forward to staying here again!

The Quin is an exceptional hotel.  It's one of the few places that truly makes you feel like home.  The entire staff is amazing and personable, esp the bell staff.  My junior suite was very well appointed with a true residential feel.  The bed was extremely comfortable.  For someone who travels extensively around the world, esp for work, I am glad I have found my home away from home in NYC.

My wife and I stayed one night.  Superior service.  Brand new, nicely appointed rooms.  The concierge was particularly well connected.  Rooms are a spacious and comfortable, and quiet.  A first class experience start to finish.

Exceptional service. Luxurious rooms. They have thought of everything. The staff at the door went the extra mile to hunt down a cab for us. And Jane at the Attaché desk gave us spot-on dinner and drink recommendations for three days in a row. Can't wait to return!

The Quin is exceptional! My husband and I had a mini vacay and stayed at the Quin before his business conference in NYC. The staff is wonderful. Everyone was so nice and courteous. After getting off of a long flight, the concierge upgraded us for free. Everything looks so modern and updated. Straight out of a magazine! We unfortunately had to cut it short after 3 days to stay at Le Parker Meridien for his work. Let me tell you... Staying at LPM makes me appreciate The Quin that much more. (Down to the quiet elevator ride that we didn't have to wait 30 mins for or share with someone else). If we're back in NYC again, we would definitely stay at the Quin again. Must go!!

I stayed here this past weekend with two of my girlfriends in a room with two queen beds.  Even though the room was small, it was really cool.  The staff is very attentive to any of your needs.  The artwork is to die for and I wanted to go to every floor to see what was there.  I would highly recommend this hotel but note that it is a little on the pricey side!  Great location too

Stayed here on their second night in business. Nice lobby, attentive staff, rooms are well-finished. They didn't have room service up and running, so no comment there.

My wife and I just returned from a fabulous weekend in New York.  We had the great fortune of staying at the Quin Hotel upon the advice of a friend that had recently stayed there.  The hotel was recently remodeled and is absolutely beautiful.  The lobby as well as the bathrooms have calcutta marble throughout.  All the finishes are gorgeous and new.  The hotel is state of the art and every room has a control center that operates the lights, temperature, shades etc.  The staff could not have been nicer.  We had the pleasure of dining at the Wayfarer Restaurant (our first night) which was delicious and convenient.  Did I mention how centrally located the hotel is?  At the corner of 57th and 6th Avenue, two blocks from Central Park the location could not have been better. Throw in a Neopresso machine and  Duxiana bed in every room and what more could you want? First rate location, first rate hotel!

Nice little hotel in a great location for shopping and touristy stuff.  Clean, simple, and easy.  Its not going to wow you with service or friendliness, but if you just want a nice, modern, clean hotel in a great location the Quin is perfect.

This boutique hotel was excellent. Very very clean, modern, and chic with its decor - my kind of taste! The staff was so accommodating, serviceable, and friendly. Our room was great for two-though small closet, it wasn't a big deal. King size bed was comfy. As a woman, Bathroom shower (with top shower head) and lighting were great (for make up purposes)! All toiletries provided were from the Fresh brand- a plus! The Wayfarer restaurant connects to the hotel - a convenient spot for a last minute martini before and or after your outing in the city! Drinks were great (didnt try their food menu). We picked this hotel primarily because of the location-only 2 blocks from Central Park. We were able to take a stroll in the morning and there are markets one around the corner and the one right across the street for your water, snacks, bevs, etc! Loved it!
The experience was excellent and would def be back next time! I have already recommended the hotel to some of my friends/co-workers.
The reason I didnt rate it a 5 is because of minor things - the TV remote was causing us a little bit of trouble, the volume limit was still low even at its max, the toilet paper holder had a loose screw, and the bathroom door lock came undone. Again, minor in my mind that didnt impact us personally. I also wish they had a better variety on the late nite menu for room service (more casual bites).

Awesome room.  The attentiveness of the staff is second to none.  We did not have to ask for anything. If you want to stay in the heart of it all, this is the place to be. 5 minute walk to 5th ave shops and 15 minute walk to any show on Broadway you want to see!

Small hotel in a great location. The stuff was wonderful and cares about their guests. I gave 4 stars because it gets pretty noisy at night from the streets.

5 minute walk from GM building, clean and staff very welcoming and accommodating .... Love the control of AC and lighting from a touchpad right from the bed.... Did not have to get out of bed when it got hot at night so turn up the AC....even after we checked out, the staff let us leave our luggage with them so we could go sightseeing.

This hotel is beautiful, has a great location and excellent customer service.  I was there for a vacation and picked this hotel due to Yelp reviews and pictures.  It does not disappoint.  I often dealt with Samantha at the front desk--she is easily the absolute best representative The Quin could ever hope for--engaging, polite, helpful and just genuinely nice.  I hope The Quin recognizes what a gem they have in her!  The only downside was that it took forever to get our held luggage (approx 20 minutes) when no one else was having luggage retrieved.  Complained to Samantha who tracked down the luggage guy and resolved the situation (apparently, the luggage guy had missed the elevator--that is just unacceptable).  I would have given 5 stars but for the luggage situation--had a car waiting and an airport to get too.  Other than that, I would highly recommend The Quin.

The Quin is a lovely property.  The rooms are small, but well appointed.  They have comfortable beds with luxurious sheeting.  The modern bathrooms are beautiful and the Fresh cosmetics line smells fantastic and feels great on your hair and skin.

We brought our nearly two year old daughter and they had everything for her too!  A well appointed crib, baby bath, diaper pail, Johnson and Johnson baby products and even welcomed her with a toy(s) of her choice.

The staff was professional, very attentive, accommodating, and had great recommendations on places to eat in close proximity.

We had breakfast at the adjoining Wayfarer and it was delicious!

Overall experience was fantastic.  We will be back.

I stayed here again a few months after my first visit and I had the same exceptional service. I was in a huge crunch because I was supposed to move into an apartment and it didn't work out. I went to the Quinn and continuously extended my stay and they never had a problem with it and never made me switch rooms.

This is an absolutely fantastic hotel!!  My husband and I had a little staycation and spent our first wedding anniversary at the Quinn and were blown away by the fantastic service and quality of the room.

From the incredible staff surprising us with prosecco and an anniversary cake in our suite to the extra long tub in the bathroom, our stay was incredible.

If you are travelling to NYC, this is a little boutique of luxury within walking distance to major trains and attractions.

Highly highly recommend!!

The Quin is one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure to stay at....and I've been fortunate to stay at a lot of lovely hotels!  It is definitely in my top five!

From check-in to check-out no detail was overlooked.  Service is their top priority and they try and accommodate every request.  For shoppers there is even a direct line to the personal shoppers at Bergdorf's!

My favorite amenities in our room were the Nespresso machine (an espresso before a Saturday night out definitely helps) and the wonderful fresh bath products.  It was one of the few times I didn't travel with my Kerastase products.

The bathroom is a beautiful creation of marble, pleasing lighting and plush Turkish towels.  It's very tranquil.

....and the location... it truly can not be beat!  Steps from the park and much more modern than the other options nearby.

I have a feeling the Quin will be at the top of many peoples lists!

Hands down my favorite Hotel in New York. When I come over, i don't stay anywhere else. Why would I? It is close to Time Square, literally a block from central park, and close to any museum or shopping center I would need to be close to. Stayed here during New Year's and received the best service. The concierge desk knows the places to eat, where to go for drinks and they know al the managers by name. The rooms are well decorated, the beds the softest and biggest. There is a 24 hour pharmacy CVS style in front and again, the service is the best.

We had a delightful stay at the Quin! The showers are outstanding, having espresso in the room was a great lifesaver. Our children were accepted and appreciated.  Our room was atypically larger than average with two exquisitely comfortable queen sized beds.  Valet was not as exorbitant as some services we have used in NYC. Proximity to the park was excellent. Can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

A few of my favorite things:
Proximity to Central Park (a block away)
Extremely comfortable bed (close to $6k Dux bed)
Beautiful shower
Tablet that controls the shades, lights, music, etc.
Fresh brand products
Comfortable bathrobes
Loved the sheets on the bed
Proximity to: Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Museum of Modern Art, and Fifth Avenue

In addition, the staff were very attentive and professional. Several staff checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

I think this should be a top pick if you are looking for a hotel in NYC in the $500+ range.

The Quin is a lovely little hotel at the intersection of 57th and 6th. I stayed here with my mom during a trip last month, and thought it was pretty great. She got a deal through Jetsetter (or some analogous site), but I think the room was still expensive. I gather, though, that New York hotel prices are generally out of control.

My mom has achey feet and an achey back and is sensitive to bad mattresses and things of that sort. She probably commented on how much she loved the Quin bed like ten times during our four-day trip. It was a really comfortable bed, with a good mattress and apparently top notch bedding. I'm less attuned to small variations in hotel bed quality, but I trust my mom's judgment. Bring all your Korean moms here.

The room wasn't big, but it was charming and cozy. Shower was great, and we had free wifi. The lobby was very pretty, and there was a lot of attentive staff for the size of the hotel.

I don't usually stay in hotels in New York, so I'd be surprised if I made it back to the Quin. Still, I'd recommend it if you're looking for a luxurious stay in the area. It's a pleasant place, and you'll probably sleep well.

I had the most incredible experience in this hotel!! I have never been to a more accommodating establishment. Every part of this hotel was perfect from the early check in, the maid service, the concierge recommendations, lovely door men, birthday surprise, free water and nespresso, and the late check out.

When we walked into the room we were stunned by the tablet and how it controlled the blinds, thermostat, and lighting for the entire room.

The beds were comfortable and the shower was phenomenal. When we walked down to the lobby in the morning there was complimentary tea and coffee. Also, it was raining so the women at the check in desk offered complimentary use of their umbrellas. We had purchased cheap umbrellas at a street vendor and they offered to have our umbrellas sent to our room for us.

The location is beyond perfect. It was only a couple blocks away from The Plaza and Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall.

My family and I have agreed that we will only stay at The Quin when we visit New York City!!

Right off the 57th & 6th corner, just away from across from Carnegie Hall, Russian Tea Room, and Rue 57.

Old charm of building on outside very fresh on the inside.  Sparse space in lobby but nice art books to look at and tea & cookies for while you peruse them. (Guests only) rooms are functional but comfortable with a touch of class & individuality/character (art/mini contents/see below)

In room:
Nespresso
Fresh bath products
Efficient, clean, soothing bathroom, small but neutral colors and rain shower with wand
2 queen beds (our choice/ other options probs)
Tablet on bedside that controls the lights, air, etc
Buddies with Bergdorf - in room BG shopping
Yummy provisions fridge and local goods in gifts and fun spluges in room cabinet
Robes (ok. If you're a robe geek bring yours)
Artist designed screensaver /umbrella/ hall work (nice!!!)
Great lobby art coffee table books.  Could spend a few hours there
Lobby tea/coffee biscotti & computers - full wall Blek the Rat
Elevators slow n wonky

Pro tips:
Dim the tablet that thing is bright at night

Not Super:
Loud heater/ hard to get room temp right
Bathroom echoey for quiet morn if someone sleeping
Needs more hooks in bathroom (robe takes the 1)

Very nice very new- wonder what it will be like in 9 more months. RECOMMEND.

I stayed at the Quin in September for three nights and absolutely loved it. The amazing location alone warrants 5 stars, but it's also one of the nicest hotels that I've visited throughout the world.

Awesome front desk service as was everyone else on staff I dealt with. I wrote a separate review of the excellent adjoining restaurant, the Wayfarer.

Super comfortable bed and a sweet little tablet device to control the lights, blinds, music, etc. (see pics) The shower is exquisite with an interesting ledge that with the right traveling companion and a little imagination could be quite memorable. (See bathroom pics)

Whether you're a bon vivant or just a business traveller with a generous budget, the Quin is the place to stay in Manhattan. Hope to see you next year!

I had a lovely stay here in mid December while I was in NY for a conference. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The ambiance is modern, beautiful. Definitely got a boutique, intimate feel when you arrive to the lobby.

On arrival, I noticed apple cider and hot chocolate offerings in the lobby. Then, I got to my room which was a premier room with a king size bed. It was fairly large for NY standards. There was a lot of high tech options in the room. There was also a Nespresso machine in the room. The bath products were great...natural ingredients and smelled nice. Lastly, I was impressed with the free cider martins available in the evening...happy hour!

I only have two minor complaints and they are likely due to the time of year I was there. First, I had to wait at least 5 minutes or more every time I wanted to go down the elevator no matter what hour. Secondly, the hotel was not able to flag down a cab for me on Sunday night. Just for the record, Uber was 1.6x the normal rate that time. It was a hectic night in the city.

Overall I thought this was the best hotel in NY I have stayed at in terms of a room quality and friendly staff. Also I got a great price on this hotel via cybermonday deals for the hotel. Definitely recommend this hotel to others!

The Quin was great - all the way from the booking until departing.  They helped me plan a birthday surprise for my fiancé before even arriving to New York, I just had to send a little package with some decorations and they had it all set up in the room along with a little birthday cake that was absolutely delicious!  They were very accommodating throughout it all and responded very quickly via emails!

Upon arriving, staff was very friendly.  Small lobby but very neat and comfortable.  We were there during the off season so we walked run up to the counter and there was no wait.  We upgraded to a corner suite and it was well worth it.  We faced the corner of 6th and 57th and there was so much to see even from the 6th floor.

The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms were all very up-to-date.  We had a king bed, very comfortable.  The rooms also have the blackout shades along with the sheer shade so you can sleep in without the sun waking you up.  The room was a decent size for New York.  The location of the hotel was the best part - 2 blocks from Central Park, 1 block from the start of 5th Avenue shopping, 10 minute walk to Time Square, and the entrance to the subway is right outside the hotel door.

Room service refreshed the room several times a day with complimentary water bottles (which you don't find that often), coffee pods for the Nespresso machine, and refreshed the bathroom and bed each time.  They also have a fitness room on the second floor - didn't utilize but looked decent when the elevator opened on that floor.

Concierge was good - willing to look up stuff when you had questions if they didn't already know the answer.

Overall it was a great experience and would come back again for the price and GREAT location/service!

High quality, even for NYC. This hotel has amazing service and beautiful rooms. We went for my birthday weekend and it was wonderful. They made the room up with decorations and a cake. It was quite spectacular.

The view of the corner suite was very nice; Looked over 6th and 57th. The room was freshened up at least two times per day. They refilled the complimentary waters as well.

Can't say enough good from the doorman to the complimentary toiletries (replaced for almost every shower)

Thank you Quin for a fabulous birthday experience.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with our stay at The Quin, and we will most definitely stay here the next time we are in NYC.

The attachés, who reach out several weeks ahead of arrival, are incredibly helpful. Especially, Erica who was arranged dinner reservations, theater tickets, champagne and chocolates upon our arrival, and, perhaps the most impressing thing, she somehow greeted us by name each day as we came and went from the hotel.

The rooms are comfortably sized with a king-sized bed, sofa, side tables, dresser, and a small desk. The bed is very comfortable, with soft pillows, down comforter, and pillow-topped mattress. The bathrooms are nice and functional. The rain shower was great. The Fresh brands soaps and shampoos are an excellent touch.

The service is impeccable. Our room was always spotless. Each morning the room was cleaned and straightened. Each night it was turned down and prepped for our return. Most importantly, we had absolutely no concern for our belongings; nothing ever seemed handled or touched, something we've, unfortunately experienced at other upscale hotels.

If you've read this far, thanks and congratulations. In sum, book at the The Quin without hesitation or concern. I would.

The hype around the Quin is everywhere. As a result my expectations were set pretty high.

The hotel is small and I personally prefer that. We were on the move while in NYC and having a conveniently located hotel with easy access to our room was wonderful. However service was nearly non existent. Having stayed in a few other 5 star places I have something to compare to and this experience didn't measure up.

We used UBer a few times and while I don't expect the door man to recognize that a car parked in front of the hotel is automatically a guest, I do expect that I'd be consistently greeted and have the door opened for me. This didn't happen.

While the room was very nice, details weren't taken care of. The lamp fixtures were askew, the shower head nozzles needed to be cleaned, I couldn't figure out how to turn on the desk lamp to save my life. Some of the items listed on the mini bar menu weren't stocked, etc.

Overall, I didn't leave there feeling valued as a guest. We also stayed at the W Hoboken and the Marriott Marquis during our trip. Honestly out of the three hotels, we were treated the best at the W.

Excellent experience, I mean excellent.

Room was extremely clean and maintained very well, staff was extremely friendly and hotel was spotless.

They seem to take an extra step others do not. One morning I was running late.. upon returning to the room, it was spotless and room service went to so far as to neatly organize my razor blade, cologne, ect by the sink (which I left rather hastily unorganized due to a morning rush). This impressed me as they even look after the little things!

The room was very comfortable, electronic controls for the lights + shades plus felt a bit luxurious.
Bathroom and shower were spotless and very comfortable, definitely not low end grunge.
Downstairs a great place to eat and socialize.. again with more friendly service.
Close to the subway and only two blocks or so south of Central Park.

Front desk and doormen were stellar and extremely helpful.
I left with a very fond experience and enjoyed my stay very much.
