I agree with the previous Yelper about the truck stops on both ends but the staff moved me instantly when I asked. Ask for a room near the middle of the hotel not on the ends- X05 to X24 should be fine. I travel a lot for work with 60-80 nights a year in hotels. Trust me that this is a good place to stay. The staff at this hotel are great... I especially like Marisa but Sasha and Clay were great too. Thanks to everyone there for making my 2 week stay meet all my expectations. If I am in the area again I will definitely stay here.

It's right next to a truck stop so the noises never stop. Everyone is really nice, but it doesn't make up for it.

There's a Holiday Inn Express in Gresham that is like 10 minutes away and would probably be better.

What kind of a place doesn't allow you to check in a mere 30 mins before check in when your room is ready?!?? This place.

At 1 AM the train goes, "woo wooooo!"
At 1:25 train goes, "woo wooooo!"
At 1:47 the train goes, "woo wooooo!"
At 2:05 the train goes, "woo wooooo!"

Yes, the rooms are nicely appointed with four pillows per bed.
Yes, the bathroom is clean and soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are provided gratis. (But it is up to you to decide if you want to mix the hotel's hard water and honest-to-goodness soap.  Good luck getting the lather off your skin.)

And yes, at 2:18 the train goes, "woo wooooo!"

Absolutely the best hotel I have ever stayed at. This hotel gets 5 stars because there customer service was top of the line. They were so friendly and wanted to make sure out stay was perfect. They even called the night before our arrival to see if we needed anything set up in our room. The rooms were clean and breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel!!

Find a different hotel. This used to be a Comfort Inn. It is below the quality of most Holiday Inn Express hotels, and the hotel appears dirty and in need of updates/repairs. It is next to a truck stop.

Ironically this hotel used to be a Comfort Inn and what used to be the Troutdale Holiday Inn Express is now a Comfort Inn. For the money the Comfort Inn (formerly HIE) is a nicer hotel and isn't squeezed behind a truck stop parking lot.

I was a guest of this Holiday Inn Express in November 2014. I booked this branch because of it's halfway location between Portland and Multnomah Falls.

After reading some of the customer's experiences on TripAdvisor, I was concerned with the noise level because of this hotel's proximity to a truck stop. However, it ended up not being an issue probably because I was placed on the 3rd floor. I was in a King Feature room and had no problems falling asleep. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to not hear a single truck or train horn during the night.

Some of the furniture like the sofa and TV are somewhat outdated, but more important to me, the bed was comfortable and sufficient thick bedding was provided to keep me warm during a night when the temperature dropped below 30 degrees.

Unfortunately, the reason why I am giving a low rating is because of an incident where I slipped in the shower, notified management, but there was no follow-up as promised by the case manager. There are no anti-slip mats provided in the shower, which are commonly found in many big name hotels. I hope that Holiday Inn can invest in them in the future.

It is not Holiday Inn's fault that I slipped and fortunately I did not end up requiring medical attention (only bruised my butt and hip but it hurt at the time), but I hope the staff can take customer concerns and cases more seriously. How about calling to discuss the situation further or following up to see if I require assistance?
