Inexpensive as always.  A bit of an odd location, only one road in and out.  A bit noisy and one of the overhead lights in the room didn't work but again, inexpensive.  I would stay again if traveling through and needing a place to stop for the night like last time.  Not a destination hotel by any means, but served its purpose perfectly.

My wife and I are not big hotel people.  if we're going on vacation, we want to be out and about experiencing the area, going for drinks, doing something that is not being indoors.

What we look for in a place to stay:  Sleep, Shave, Shower.  That's it.

Motel 6 general is a place you can consistently get a good bed, a clean-room and a great price when you're living out of a suitcase.  Unfortunately, this location isn't the solid room we've experienced.  Wi-Fi is not free, which is a first for Motel 6's I've stayed at, in addition to only having a very limited connectivity area limited to about 12 rooms out of 50 or so.  The rooms are small...really small.

The front desk people were nice, but these rooms really need to be redone.

Don't stay here...... they practice age discrimination.  If you are an adult, able to vote and defend your country in places like Iraq and Afganistan they will not let you stay here unless you come with someone over 21 !!!   And if you call corporate and complain (I did) they might tell you what they told me:  SO SUE US.  No "sorry".
No explanation.  Just  "We have the right to refuse service to anyone we like.  You are welcome to sue us if you don't like it".
I have the right to spend my money elsewhere, Motel 6 !

If you have little money and no other choice but to stay in the equivalent of a Third World country with trashy subhumans and their spawn who smoke, drink and shoot up all over the motel, stay at Motel 6. If you don't mind cheap gut water for coffee in the morning, poorly managed facilities, keys that don't work, people who do not have the courtesy to pick up after their own dogs, filthy living quarters and little kids screaming in the swimming pool at all hours of the day and half the night, stay at Motel 6. If you have a dog and no other motel allows pets and this is all you can afford, stay at Motel 6. And unfortunately, they are all alike.

This place is a dump. My room smelled like the combination of a wet dog and a hobo camp. There were a lot of shady looking people hanging out in the parking lot too.  Don't stay here.

This place was absolutely terrifying. We almost left out of fear for our safety. My husband slept with his knife nearby. The rooms stunk. People were hanging out on the stairs who were definitely on drugs and there were young kids running around unsupervised. I would not recommend this to anyone.

    Stay away at all cost!

I stayed at this place almost a year ago, but looking at all the reviews on Yelp and Google, I see that nothing has changed. This is not a motel. This is a scene from a horror movie with junkies, meth addicts, shady people with lots of pit-bulls, tons of shady gang looking characters, horrific smell off feces and a hotel room with leaking conditioner. I'm amazed how a place like this is still able to operate.

My wife and I decided to stay at this place a year ago for couple nights during our Portland travel. First, we were given a room that was in the "pool area". The whole place was packed with very shady people and obvious drug/meth addicts. Right next to us, there was a family that looked like was living there for some time, not just staying in a motel. In fact, it looked like there were bunch of people there that lived there. This family was also a family of drug addicts. Now, the pool area was packed with pit-bulls and people that I don't know whether they even stayed there or not. Furthermore, the lawn smelled of feces really horribly. The whole place was so shady that I started taking everything out of the car because I didn't trust leaving anything visible in it during the night.

I went to the staff to explain everything that I saw and also asking to get a different room that is not in the "party area". The staff was very nice. The guy explained to me that there are families that live here and he seemed to be shocked to hear about the meth addicts and everything else. Anyway, he gave me a different room on the opposite side of the building in a quiet area, which was nice. It was the only room they had available. I still can't believe that this place was packed; however, it maybe was packed with people like me that found this place because of the good price they had comparable to other Motel 6 around and had no idea what was actually going on there. The new room they gave us had multiple issues. The air conditioner was leaking from the sealing, so I placed a bucket under it. The window wouldn't close. There was also some issue with the shower that I vaguely remember now. However, because this was the only room available, we decided to stick with it because it was at least quiet and away from the main junkie area -- and we did not want to return there!

I'm assuming that bunch of other people that would come to this motel into the pool area were people from around the area that didn't stay at the motel but used it for the pool, for drug dealing, probably prostitution, and other things. Like I said, the vibe there was really bad.

At the end of our stay, I spoke to who I think was the main manager there. I explained everything to her and showed her videos of the issues in the room. She was nice enough to apologize and also provided us with a discount for our stay. Thus I do not have any complaint with the attitude of the staff because they were nothing but nice to us; however, the whole entire place and what goes on here needs to be placed on alert. It's not a safe environment and if this is allowed to happen even a year after I was saying there [based on what I see form other reviews on Yelp and Google], then this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

By the way, about Wi-Fi. It is not free and it is not even close to fast. I ended up getting a refund and just using our cell phone internet, which was much faster.

This place sucks. It just next to a railway. So it is very noisy and it wakes me up several times at night.

You pay what you get for I guess. Stayed there 3 nights with some friends and almost every time I went to the check in office, there was nobody in there and I had to wait until someone came around. Some of the staff was short and rude to us as well. The rooms were muggy and very warm. The fan didn't seen to do much at all. Wouldn't recommend, but if you're just looking for a bed to sleep at night, and nothing more, this will do.

Cheaply remodeled rooms and weirdos that stare at you. The highway noise is very loud as the construction workers are as well. The entrance road to the motel is horrible, gravel and huge pot holes filled with water probably from all the semi traffic in and out of the motel. We got a notice taped on the door that states " In the next day or two there will be a worker that will need to get into the room to program the TV and also put the weather stripping on the doors. If your room does not need the TV program they will be installing the weather stripping which will be a bit of noise during the install". This is how they treat their guests at Motel 6. They could have at least waited until the room was empty. We are checking out early and we will not be coming back nor will we be staying at another motel 6.

Much improvement especially since they have a new manager!  Rooms were remodeled last year when we stayed here and still look like new...new microwave in lobby and the coffee even tasted better!
Wish they had breakfast though. Best thing is
they don't bother you unless you need something which is great because before they used to knock EVERYDAY!! Even when you asked them not too (so annoying and disrespectful) ...they even have the privacy please signs you stick in the card slot on your door now!!
    Will definitely return.

We stayed at Motel 6 this last weekend simply because when traveling across country this became out favorite hotel for the price.  They don't charge extra for dogs and the service has always been exceptional.  This location was the exact opposite.  We knew the hotel was right next to a railroad, so I won't complain of the noise.  The trains traveled at least every 15-30 minutes.  Very loud and disruptive to sleep but like I said, we expected it.

My biggest complaint was the staff and how they handled our reservation.  This night was the first night of three in our trip throughout Oregon.  We reserve a room with a microwave and fridge because we travel with a cooler to keep out eating budget down.  When we arrived the man at the front desk checked us is.  He wasn't polite and didn't seem to want to be there.  When we got up to the room we found no fridge or microwave.  I went back to the front desk and was told that they had overbooked those rooms and there was nothing he could do.  I explained why we had booked that type of room and he simply said "sorry" and stared at me.  The lack of responsiveness was astounding.

Secondly the pool was horrible.  My son was so excited to get a chance to swim.  One look at the pool and I told him no. It was horribly taken care of and you could tell it hadn't had a ph test in weeks.

Finally, while walking my dog before bedtime, some druggie went overboard and the police showed up, sirens blaring to answer the call.  I promptly took my dog and went to the room.

As for the room itself, what was labeled a non-smoking room, had clearly been used for smoking. There was mold in the bathroom and the walls weren't particularly sound proof.  The towels were decent but that was perhaps the only part of the experience that didn't suck.

Pay the extra $20 and find another hotel in Troutsdale.  I will stay at Motel 6 again, but definitely not this one.

Not fun.. Indifferent front desk clerk not too interested in helping guests.. We arrive after 4pm to hear (telling other guests too) rooms aren't ready for another 30 minutes...when questioned since check-in was supposed to start at 3-  " yeah, but rooms aren't ready till 6". ...  Finally, Go to room to discover party central happening in all adjoining rooms near me.. Great.. Of course front desk couldn't move me to quieter location. I was only trying to get some rest after a long drive, not coming to motel 6 for the resort/party atmosphere....
Room was clean and modern.  First time at motel 6 in forty years, and I don't plan on returning...

I had to double check to make sure this was the hotel I stayed at when I saw all the negative reviews.

    ??? Why the bad reviews?

The staff was very nice when we first arrived. She took her time checking us in, and kept telling us if there was anything at all we needed to please let her know. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fridge, microwave, large TV. The bathroom was large. We slept really well on brand new pillows (the morning manager said the box had just arrived and the pillows were all brand new).

Checkout was 12, and they still had hot coffee out by the time we were leaving. The staff was all smiles.

Yeah, I just don't get it.  Perhaps I got exemplary treatment because I'm so much better looking than you all. (ha ha just kidding)

I was admonished for noise I didn't even make. Clean rooms, but NOW I see why other complaints about the staff have shown up. Some of them great,  the rest NOT so great. Good deal for pet owners.

5 days at the Troutdale Motel 6?

I did it and it was great!  It was way cheap, about $40 a day.  My room was cool and basic, (Check my photos!) And the room included great TV with 2 HBO choices.

It gets kinda festive on Friday and Saturday nights, all kinds of people, groups of people traveling together.  I liked the vibe.

Trains?  Yep, they roll right out back.  They usually don't blow the horn, but they are huge and roll by regularly.  Didn't really bother me, as I like trains...  it's amazing how some trains seem to be much heavier than other ones.  Amazing how the engines have unique sounds, the feeling of power they give...

The manager seems to be on the case, I saw him all over this place.

Seemed pretty clean, everything seemed to work...

Only negative, the WiFi is a little weak. It costs $2.99 per day for access and it did work.  If my memory is right, back in the day, Motel 6 would charge you to watch your TV, 25 cents for 20 minutes. Since each show lasted at least 30 minutes, you always had to add one more quarter!  That was back when a Motel 6 room cost $6 for  the night!

I also used the coin laundry once, worked perfectly.

So, I'm sold, it was worth it to me, NOT to pay $80+ for a motel room, this was a great motel. 50% less is cool!
