stayed here in April 2009 with a group of friends. well, we ALMOST stayed here. the whole hotel had a creepy vibe from the beginning. rooms were on the second floor and there was no elevator, the pool that was supposed to be open in march was still being renovated, and the rooms reeked of smoke. after checking in, some of us went downtown. my friend stayed behind to take a nap. when she woke up, she was covered in bug bites! to be fair, the manager tried to be helpful and offered to discount our rooms and move us to a different one. he assured us that they had never had a problem before. we tore the bed apart to try to find the bugs, but we only found stained sheets and lots of hair. :( we were able to get a refund and went to another hotel which was much nicer and clean.  needless to say, it will be a long time before I stay in a days inn again!

This place is the worst motel I have ever stayed. Do NOT stay here!!!!

Looks and smells like a decrepit moldy old place because of the pool. The layout is confusing, the people staying are sometimes a little sketchy (or maybe church folk in uniform and highway hotels just creep me out, I don't know.), but there's free wifi (unsecured), an indian buffet, a bbq place, and more than competent staff. Good enough.

Except a little after midnight some dude woke me up knocking on the door, and insisting I had ordered a cab. I had not. It was weird. The next morning I noticed they were doing some maintenance and remodeling on the front lobby and air conditioning system, so maybe there will only be ongoing improvements.

I forgot to review this too!

What is it with hotels in Pittsburgh? You could film an effectively disturbing b-grade horror film in the few I've had crash at. Kay and I stayed at this Days Inn during one of our early adventures for reasons too complicated to explain; it was just the most convenient thing to do at the time the night before Ozzfest.

Um, yeah it's labyrinthine and cheap and sleazy. Imagine a sex scene from a straight-to-video erotic thriller that you watch with the sound turned down on late-night cable.

Oh, come on. Like you've NEVER done that. Once. Anyway, that's what the rooms are like.

And no, we didn't even dream of swimming in their pool. That's where the horny, skinny-dipping kids always get killed!

This was the worst hotel that I ever stayed in. my hubby and I  took the smoking room and it stunk sooo bad that I wanted to throw up. I was afraid to sleep in that nasty bed. in the morning at 5am I wanted to leave the room cuz smell was sooo gross that woke me up! I felt so dirty that I took two showers AT Other HOTEL. I never thought that I will have nightmares bcz of bad and stinky hotel.

Although the night attendant was accommodating and nice, the non smoking rooms smelled like ashtrays and/or moldy and the rooms are run down. There are cigarette burns in the shower and on the bedspread. It's way overpriced for what you get and I won't stay here again.

I stayed here for about a week.  I stayed in the non-smoking room and found it to be clean and smelled OK.  Flat screen TV, remote and free HBO.  My issues were: the telephone in the room was next to useless (most of the time didn't even work when i needed to call the front desk) and the internet service was terrible.  It seemed that if I was in the main building, where they serve breakfast or in the fitness area, the internet was great, but much of the hotel is outside and the internet was terrible.  Other than that, the staff was friendly, plenty of security cameras and the place seemed in decent shape.  It was a prime case of you get what you pay for.  Could have been better (fix the internet, better choices on the free breakfast, restock the vending machine) but I have to admit, I have paid comparable amounts and been in much worse hotels.  Oh and they're close to downtown (about 3 miles) so that's a plus.  If I visit Pittsburgh again, I wouldn't mind staying there again.

BED BUGS!!! Horrible place! DO NOT STAY HERE!! Stayed here for a wedding we attended. Woke up in the middle of the night with bites all over my legs, arms, and back. We flip a pillow over and there it was. BED BUGS. We had to cut our trip short. The man at the front desk apologized and gave us the managers name and number and told us to call back later that morning. We have been calling since 8/10 and have yet to receive a call back. Such disrespect. We risk bringing back bed bugs and spending hundreds on extermination fees and no has the decency to call back.

I stayed here on New Years Eve and I can't say that I had any significant problems although admittedly I was concerned given the previous reviews. I found my room to be clean, warm and comfortable, the front desk was friendly and efficient, and the price was far more reasonable than other larger hotels in the city. The issues I did have were that my quilt had some holes in it, the vending machine was sold out of most items, my remote for the tv was not functioning, and the continental breakfast was limited although granted it was free.

While the aforementioned issues seem minor and did not necessarily detract from my stay, it is apparent that the staff does not pay enough attention to the details, which could be significant for families or those staying longer.

Bottom line is that while this hotel provides basic essentials at a low price and is conveniently located to the city, attention to details is very important and if the staff can improve on these it would then warrant a 4-star or maybe even a 5-star rating.

I've never been to Pittsburgh before and I planned on doing some heavy partying and needed a place to crash that was not on the floor so I booked this hotel the day before I drove up. I saw the reviews & ignored them because I figured I'd be drunk and happy enough to dive into a bed.

I checked in around 2am, the girl who checked me in barely said anything to me besides "initial here and sign here and your room is over there". The room smelt like hot dogs, the AC wasn't working at all so I was dripping in sweat all night, none of the lamps worked at all, there were holes in the pillow cases and bedding, there was a tiny blood stain on the sheet, I went down for the continental breakfast at 9:30am (it ends at 10am) and they already stopped serving, the shower was ice cold. I then checked for bed bugs after realizing the shithole I spent the night in last night (coast is clear). I checked out and went back to Baltimore, which seems like heaven on earth compared to Shittsburgh.

Pros: friendly staff, clean, nice pool and close food. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are nice.

Cons: towels were stained, walls were a little rough.

For the price it's clean and solid, needs a facelift inside as it's aged. But I'd stay here again!

While clearly an older property, the rooms have been updated and are modern and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was friendly and I liked that there was an Eat N Park next door for food 24/7. I stayed two days and visited several different parts of the city, none of which were ever more than 15 minutes away. I'd definitely stay again.

I had advanced reservations and when I arrived everything was ready for me.  The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful when I asked for directions to a venue I was headed to.  The room was very clean as was the bathroom.  I stayed 3 nights and had wonderful service the entire time.  Breakfast is simple, cereal and some toast, juice and coffee.  There is yogurt as well.  Wifi worked no problem at all.  Overall my stay was very comfortable and enjoyable.  The only downside is more of a warning to families with children.  It has nothing to do with the staff but although shower pressure was good the water temperature varied greatly while trying to take a shower.  It really did go from cold to near scalding.... if you have children, use the bathtub.  I think this may be related to construction taking place next door but it does bear mentioning.  For me, I just filled the tub and relaxed.

The Days Inn Pittsburgh was a great place for my business visit to the area.  I had the friendliest, no-hassle check-in that I've had in a long while, and I stay in hotels for work about 150 nights out of the year.  My room was clean, comfortable, and had easy access which is important because I don't pack very light when I travel.  Breakfast in the morning was included and surpassed my expectations for a mid-level hotel chain.  Every member of the team was fantastic and responded to my needs, and I like that.  The hotel at first seemed to be located in a secluded area, but anything you could want in terms of restaurant, shopping, entertainment and more was only a short drive away.  I met the General Manager, and thanked him personally for the great stay.  I would definitely stay here again.

Pretty rough, but not completely unbearable.

The location isn't ideal; on the side of a busy highway. The overall condition of the hotel wasn't promising on first entrance. Musty smell in the air, crumbs on the carpets going up the stairs to the room, obvious general maintenance needed.

The room continued to be unimpressive.
- The light over the desk was unplugged from behind the dresser. When I moved the dresser to plug it in there was garbage that hadn't been picked up.
- The temperature control unit felt like it was only half working and made lots of loud noises that aren't typical.
- There was crusted food on the laminated TV information sheet

The high notes;
- The woman at the front desk was very friendly and while I didn't need additional assistance, I heard her being very helpful to other patrons.
- No visible signs of bed bugs.
- Blazing fast Wifi for a hotel (2MBS)

Because I only needed to stay one night and it was bed bug free, I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to find a different location. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

Priced right and was well maintained. I was pleased with the prompt check in and check out. The room was quiet and comfortable. Nice hotel if your in the area on business. I would stay here again and would recommend the Days Inn Pittsburgh-Banksville Road to anyone looking for a nice hotel priced right in the Pittsburgh area
