Very clean and updated rooms. The bed was comfortable. The staff was pleasant. I was also impressed by the free breakfast & coffee every morning. I don't have a single complaint about this hotel. Had a great stay!

Clean, nice hotel in the Pitt area.  Has happy hour during the middle of the week, which is nice in a state with odd liquor laws which prevent you from buying beer in small amounts.  Staff was friendly, the the beds were comfortable.  Decent outdoor pool and a nice workout room.

Great place to stay, comfortable beds, good breakfast, friendly staff. Only stayed 1 night but I definately would come back here.  Not located in an area where you can walk to things but the area seems nice anyways.

My wife, in-laws, and I stayed here over 4th of July weekend.  It was our first time in Pittsburgh.  The desk clerks were very friendly and very helpful with their recommendations, they made us feel welcome.  The room was extremely clean and the beds were comfortable.  The continental breakfast was excellent!  They even provided fresh fruit in the lobby, that you can get any time of the day.  They even had free daily newspaper for guests in the lobby as well.  The outdoor pool looked inviting, but we didn't take the opportunity to try it out.  So if we ever go to Pittsburgh again, this place will definitely be our choice.

This hotel was clean, comfortable, and outstandingly nice.  We booked a block of rooms for our wedding party and the hotel staff was so accommodating.  They let us use the shuttle for transportation to our reception in the West End, which I think was a total of four trips.  There were absolutely no problems with any of the rooms that I heard of and everyone slept very well.

The hotel is a  bit out of the way, set back from the road; and a bit difficult to find.  Making a left turn into their parking lot can be a bit tricky since cars can come from the right on a nearly blind curve.  Still, the location is good, several restaurants are nearby, within a short driving distance and the hotel has a shuttle that runs hourly with good hours.  We didn't use it because things we did took longer than we planned, but it is a good idea to reserve it early.  We heard a bit of grumbling when some people found that it was already reserved for a 2 or 3 hour period.

The rooms are decorated nicely and clean. Ours had a sofabed with a couple of footstools.  This is a nice touch for tired legs, but they are a bit too tall for the sofabed.  The front edge of the sofabed cuts into the thighs a bit.  The bed is comfortable. good for a couple of nights.  The desk area was functional and actually became our dinner table when we ordered a pizza for delivery on our last night.

The free breakfast has a couple of  waffle makers and served  eggs and meat items.  Each day the eggs are prepared differently and a different meat accompanied it.  The problem ... the ONLY day with scrambled eggs, there was NOT MEAT selection ... so, it was waffles AGAIN (but meatless!)

Everyone on the staff that we talked to was friendly and helpful.

OK hotel. Weird location, on a dead end street near train tracks. I did not like the breakfast, even though it was the same stuff these places usually serve. I think the cheap plates and plastic utensils, unfit for cutting waffles, just aggravated me. The coffee was luke warm. As for the room, it was fine. It was an adequate hotel.

They always go above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable as gold members. Recommend for weddings and trips around the Pittsburgh area.  Rooms are quiet and the shuttle is great.

Perfectly clean and predictable, like a lot of Hampton Inns I've stayed at.

We did have a particularly fun night one of the nights I stayed there; someone left a cigarette burning in one of the stairwells, so they evacuated the whole hotel at 3 AM. We all hung out in the lobby for an hour while the firemen came to find the source of the smoke and declare all clear. Although the night manager made us comfortable in the lobby with bottled water, she didn't make any announcements during the hour or help us understand what was going on. I thought it could have been handled better.

Pseudo-fires aside, the place is comfortable, has free wi-fi, free breakfast, and lots of parking. Not bad.

Attempted to stay at hotel in October. The raised the rate on me just before I arrived. General manager has no idea what customer service is. Will never stay there again. Rude staff do not recommend to anyone going to Pittsburg. Would of given negative stars but was not able to.

I stayed here specifically because I found out they were a dog friendly hotel on bringfido.com ... Me and my doggie stayed there two nights (7/2, 7/3) , the girl at the desk when we checked in was so nice and accommodating and gave my doggie a treat. They also gave me the closest room to a door on the lowest floor just so taking him out would be easier. And there is plenty of outside room and grass to walk dogs around on. There were other people with dogs around the hotel too so I didn't feel weird. The room was very nice and the bed was huge, had a big nice bathroom too. Overall it made my trip with my dog as easy and worry-free as possible. Would def stay there again. :)

Very nice room and overall, a good experience.  just a few cons: TV had problems working, but desk person was able to fix it.  Also, people were smoking just outside the front door and directly beneath a sign that said no smoking within x Number of feet--makes for a very upsetting arrival.  Also, this shows very poor management on the part of the hotel.  Most importantly, this hotel is not easy to find, actually rather difficult to find and dangerous, just off a sharp curve.   So, be very careful.
If not for the smoking issue, I would have given four stars.

It is neat and clean, has a courteous staff, and a great breakfast.  The rooms are small however, and the location of the hotel is slightly isolated. Overall a decent hotel.

I stay at this Hampton Inn Green Tree every month (on average). I am a Diamond member with HiltonHHonors and a Platinim member with IHG (Holiday Inn brands) -- definitely I'm a seasoned traveller. I have a love-hate relationship with this property. It's convenient to downtown yet offers more reasonable rates of, usually, less than $150 per night. My dislikes are these: 1.) The rooms are very dated and very dark. Tonight I entertained myself by castint shadow puppets on the walls. There is not adequate lighting for work or enjoyment -- I'd compare the smaller-than-normal rooms at Hampton inn Green Tree to the inside cabin on the lowest level of a cruise ship. The walls are painted a color similar to Grey Poupon mustard ... would it hurt them to lighten things up? 2.) This room is not designed for the business traveller. Case in point: The desk is pushed in the corner with its BACK to the TV. I hate this set-up. Luckily, the desk is on wheels, so that I could move and position it facing the TV ... but is does not allow one to walk past the bed easily. 3) They refuse to offer a 2 p.m. check-out for Diamond members. The reason given to me (by two different people on same night) is that they just don't do it because they don't have enough housekeepers. It would be interesting to see if a housekeeper were to storm the room like a SWAT team precisely at 12 noon. If you are claustrophobic and need to get some quality work done in the evening, consider staying elsewhere.
It works in a pinch -- maybe for one night -- but they just don't seem to care much about accommodating guests' needs (e.g. 2 p.m. check-out for Diamond members, extremely poor lighting, not conducive to working in room).

What a great place to stay!!! Slightly out of the way of the city downtown, but the hotel offered a free shuttle service (which made up for being out of the way) and took you to 13 different stops throughout Pittsburgh. We were shuttled to steelers and penguins games and had no issues with getting back after the late games. The shuttle drivers were great and very friendly.
Room was exceptionally clean and plenty of room (we had a king size bed, couch, desk, 2 night stands, closet and TV stand with fridge and microwave).
The staff were so friendly and accommodating and offered us a drink when we arrived and checked in the first night! There's always free coffee and tea in the lobby, and it was fresh when I got a cup at 12 a.m.
The free breakfast was delicious and changed daily (our stay was 3 nights and different breakfast each day).
Would definitely recommend staying here if you visit Pittsburgh, and we will stay here again for our next visit to the city.
