Below average for an HIX.  Their internet connection (wired and wireless) is slower than molasses in January! My iPhone 3G is much faster. Frustrating.  The microwave in my room was ancient... the kind you don't want to stand too close to.  A couple of times I had to let the brown water from my sink faucet clear up before I could use it. Kind of gross when brushing my teeth.  Ran out of hot water in the shower on my last morning there.  On the plus side, I got upgraded to a suite and both rooms had very nice flat screen TVs.  They did a good job of keeping the walks and parking lot cleared of the snow that came down for three days.

Standard HIX with a larger than normal workout room. It's not the typical closet size and actually has weights and several bikes/treadmills.

Rooms are clean.

Normal HIX breakfast but stocked and maintained better than most.

Close to numerous dining options including a Damons grill next door.

My hotel of choice in PIT.

This is a good basic hotel located close to PIT.

I stayed here Sunday night after flying in late to PIT.  This is your typical fare Holiday Inn Express - all of the basic requirements without a lot of of frills.

The only thing I dinged them on is that their towels are as stiff as a board and rough as sandpaper.  I stay over 200 nights a year in hotels, and I would guarantee that these are by far the worst towels I've experienced to date.

Friendly staff, location is convenient to the freeway, breakfast is included as always at Expresses.  The rack rate seems high, but I didn't shop pricing at any other local hotels so my perception may be poorly based.

From the moment I walked up to the front desk, I was greeted by warm and friendly staff members. The desk clerk was very pleasant and helpful and even offered me a complimentary sports drink or water when I checked in (I don't even get that at 4 star hotels!). The room was nice although I would have liked to have a refrigerator. The room was clean and well-kept. The bed was very comfortable and made for a great night of sleep. Great to wake up and open up the curtains to a balcony that overlooked their nice, outdoor pool.

This place is great.  We were here for one night at the end of our family trip to Western PA.  We stayed near the airport the last night so it was easier to fly home in the morning.  This hotel was perfect.  Clean.  Helpful staff. The rooms have fridge and microwaves.  They had the crib waiting for us upon arrival.  We ordered pizza and had it delivered to the pool, which is beautiful, and we ate under the gazebo while our kids swam.  We will definitely make thus a regular stop for us whenever we come to PA.  On the front end of our trip we stayed at the other holiday inn express in southside and it didn't compare to this--this place is great.

The hotel was under construction during our stay and will be for some time by the look of things. Most of the hotel was incomplete. The lobby was filled with loose boards and drywall dust everywhere. Ice and vending machines were disconnected. While our room was freshly renovated, a bathroom fixture was crusty and old and several surfaces were still covered with paint and needed to be cleaned. Our rates should've been greatly discounted for the inconvenience, and at the very least we should've been alerted to the planned construction prior to our stay. Had we known we would've secured alternate accommodations.

Pro: friendly staff
Cons: not up to HI EXP standards. --
Outdated rooms
I moved out of my first room as it reeked of mold, mildew, and cigarette smoke. Visible mold of bathroom wall.
My next room was cleaner, but the threadbare chair was from the early 90s. I sank down to the springs.

Below the expectations of a typical Holiday Inn Express and it desperately needs renovation. The wallpaper was falling off the walls in multiple spots, the microwave is from the 80s, the shower didn't provide hot water at night (but it did in the morning), the furniture was worn and outdated. I also had a couple disappointing encounters with bad customer service. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable.

I would only recommend if you're in desperate need of a room near the airport.

As a Holiday Inn Express, I'd say the property is significantly better than average in terms of decor and facilities.  And the staff are commendably friendly.

But .... it's hardly accurate to describe this as an "airport" location, since it's almost exactly half way between the City and it's Airport (i.e. about 8  miles from each) ... located in a formless expanse of strip malls around Robinson, meaning that most dining options (remembering "Express" grade Holiday Inns are not Full Service) are cookie cutter chain establishments.

But if you're happy with those limitations -- and the higher than average price for an "Express" grade Holiday Inn -- it's not a bad choice.

Loved my stay here. Room is very nice and spacious.  Bed was exceptionally comfortable. Very clean. Staff was the best. Everyone from Al who was the shuttle driver (very friendly and helpful ), the night front desk agent (her name escapes me), to Cindi (exceptionally friendly and a great lady) the Kitchen Manager are simply the best hospitality staff I've every met.  Holiday Inn management should be proud of this hotel and it's staff. Highly recommend this hotel.
