Just had to post....I've been staying at various Kimpton hotels for years.  I like the overall high quality of service, the quirky decor, and yes, the complementary wine in the evenings.  I didn't even know that this hotel was brand new when I made my reservations.  Every staff member has been friendly and helpful.  Tonight there was a problem with one of the items I ordered from room service.  I called and explained the problem and ordered something else.  Not only did they appologize and comp the entire meal, they also brought me a bottle of wine.  The server, Dale, even took the time to check with the hosts of the wine hour to see if I preferd red or white so that he could bring me the right bottle.  Great job, Hotel Monaco!  Clearly you have hired friendly, exemplary staff.

Just here this past weekend & LOVED it.  It is extremely difficult to find hotels that accommodate pets & Monaco was more than happy to have my four-legged friend.  They provided treats, a bed, dishes, and even a pet menu!

The staff were super friendly and the decor had a wonderful, contemporary, bohemian-esque flair to it... totally my style.  The energy that comes from the patrons at the Commoner is very fun as well!  Not to mention the Extra Dirty Martinis that the bartender makes...

I don't typically write reviews, but Hotel Monaco totally deserved one!

Great facility! Warm and welcoming from valet parking! Beautiful decor! So inviting and relaxing! Don't miss the Living Room for early complimentary cocktail at 5 and for complimentary coffee/tea in the morning. The Commoner bar/restaurant is hopping unique and a lot of fun! Great people watching too ! Awesome and unique weekend brunch.

My friends and family stayed at the Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh during the NCAA tournament and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is genuinely friendly and over-the-top helpful.

We had a luncheon for over 30 people and the food was absolutely delicious. To mark the event, Deb helped us take a group photo on the landing with the bird cages. She helped us pick the perfect spot!

I stay at Kimptons all over and love  "Kimpton Karma" for the little extras like free Wifi and the Raid the Mini Bar!

The tournament was special but the Monaco cemented our special family memories!

The Pittsburgh Kimpton was amazing! My husband and I had been looking at staying at a Kimpton for a while now, and unfortunately due to some family health issues, we had to leave for Pittsburgh in the middle of the night with our 2 dogs in tow. We booked the hotel on our drive out, and they could not have been more accommodating! At 2am, they quickly parked our car and brought up a dog bed and food for our pups. The doorman always greeted us and our dogs cheerfully in the mornings which was really great! We ordered room service quite a bit when we were back at the hotel, and it was great for breakfast/dinner/drinks/dogs! Overall, the location, food, service, and decor are amazing, and it is well worth a stay!

Sure, it's a more expensive hotel. But if you stack the Hotel Monaco against all the other expensive hotels in Pgh, it is the clear winner. Well done, Kimpton.

The staff is unbelievably friendly and genuinely interested in making sure you have everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay. The wine-happy-hour is free, social, and unique.

I could write a sonnet about the bath tubs in the "spa" rooms. Suffice to say, this is what made me decide that I will be taking a once-a-month "staycation" here during the winter months.

The restaurant is really good and deserves it's own 5-star review.

Expensive, but worth every penny if you're looking to be pampered for a night or two!

Have you ever stayed at a Kimpton hotel? If you have, then you know. If you haven't, DO, and as soon as possible. After your first time, you won't want to stay in another hotel for the rest of your days. Not only are the rooms (and this brand-new offering in Pittsburgh is no exception) exquisitely appointed and outfitted with plush beds and mountains of fluffy pillows, everything about the hotels is perfect. Their rewards program is the best of the best and the staff bends over backward to make sure your stay is not just great, but completely mind-blowing. We're staying for my daughter's birthday and even through she's just 11, they're treating her like royalty. Cherry soda & "dirt" pudding served on a silver tray (the child is in Heaven). Thank you, Kimpton (and go Team Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh!!) You guys rock.

This place was amazing in every single way. We booked a night here for after our wedding, and every single person we dealt with was helpful and speedy and friendly. The decor is phenomenal - so colorful and unique and fun. Just a remarkable boutique hotel here in Pittsburgh.

This place was awesome. Staff was super friendly and attentive. It was very clean and hip, and we'll definitely be back.

I had to take a star off, though, because I tried to take a shower around 10:30 am, and the water was cold and wouldn't warm up.  Called down to the front desk, was told that it wouldn't be warm for another half-hour.

Even though this was inconvenient, the person at the front desk was very acommodating, and let us check out later than normal so that we can use the water.

Yet again The Kimpton hits a home run with The Pittsburgh Monaco!

I come to Pittsburgh quite often for business and I was anxiously waiting for the Pittsburgh Monaco to open.  As with every Kimpton I have visited (which is many) they didn't disappoint.  The staff at every Kimpton is truly too-notch.  Erin, Charles, and Myles couldn't have been more helpful.  I even met a gent working on the elevators who told me he was just hired by Kimpton after working on the Labor team to get the  property up and running.  He couldn't have been happier.  Hell, I have yet to meet a disgruntled Kimpton employee.

It's a beautiful property with a very cool color scheme in the rooms.  I got one of the standard rooms this time (I have heard that the suites with the tubs are gorgeous too) and it was perfect.  I absolutely love the bird cages and lamps in each room..so funky.  They also have a very spacious workout facility with free weights, kettle balls, a multi precor machine, and about 8 cardio machines.  The attached restaurant (The Commoner) is wonderful, just like most of the restaurants / bars affiliated with The Kimpton Brand.

I'm so happy that the Kimpton Brand is expanding.  They just seem to never miss and The Pittsburgh Monaco is just another example of this. Well done!!

First off, we're so very lucky to have a Kimpton Hotel in Pittsburgh!!! And Hotel Monaco really stays true to their reputation.

From the moment you walk in you know your experience is going to be magical, the lobby light fixture, swoon.

I have not stayed in a room here yet, but I was able to tour 2 of them and they are SO very cool. The thing I loved the most is that their cool factor didn't outweigh the comfort factor.

All of the employees that I have met there have been friendly and helpful. A huge plus for me!!

I can't wait for my next staycation. :)

From start to finish, my stay at the Monaco Pittsburgh was amazingly stellar.

When I set out to move back to the DC area from Chicago, I wanted to take the best route possible, in the quickest amount of time, and I saw that Pittsburgh was the easiest stopping point, keeping in mind that I was also looking for Kimpton hotels AND had my two cats with me.

I get an email the day before letting me know that the St. Patrick's Day parade would be coming through and therefore I wouldn't be able to leave until around 2 p.m. if I valeted my car.  No biggie for me, since the Pittsburgh to DC route was shorter and I wasn't going to complain about sleeping in.

Everyone was amazingly nice when I checked in.  I had called and asked in advance to ask whether or not they had a litter box and kitty litter, and they had the box, although it was taken by another kitty guest when I arrived.  They were nice enough to run out and get both, as well as additional wet food since I had left mine in my car.  They even brought me special kitty food bowls.

The room service staff were a dream, and they were kind enough to ask me how everything was later.

The room was beautifully appointed- and one big benefit was that there was no place to hide under the bed for the kitties (although one kitty loved climbing on the high headboard).

The only hiccup was later when I asked for a late checkout because I thought I wasn't going to be able to get my car- I got a little confused when they told me no- but come to find out it was because they had parked valet cars in advance of the parade.  Score!

Highly recommend- and I'll be back when I happen to be in Pittsburgh again.

My parents had a room here over the weekend. I got to spend some time here and check out this new hotel. They were very pleased with their stay and plan on staying at Hotel Monaco again. Found a great deal on Expedia (20% off). The hotel felt very new and had an interesting style compared to the older dated hotels in Pittsburgh. Also, very nice to have one of the hottest new restaurants in your lobby.

I would say it had a stuffy feel compared to nearby hotels. It seemed like an 'upper class' crowd and it was awkward wearing jeans and Pirates T-shirts when all the other guests and restaurant patrons were in suits and dresses. Maybe not the right place to stay for a baseball game or sporting event.

Overall the place was immaculate. Decor is a little trippy... to say the least. But I found it to be very interesting and loved the crazy ambiance. Also, the free Wifi is a major step up from the neighboring Omni.

My stay at the new Hotel Monaco in Pittsburgh was nearly perfect. Check-in was a breeze and my room was gorgeous. The hotel's restaurant and bar, The Commoner, is clearly the place to see and be seen right now, so it was fun having it right there in the building.

The room had everything I wanted including a comfortable bed, nice TV, outlets close to the bed, plenty of lighting, full length mirror, magnified/lighted mirror in the bathroom, nice bath products, etc. Normally I don't mind the open showers with half walls but this one definitely took some finagling so that I didn't flood the whole bathroom.

The hotel gym has great machines and is open 24/7. I liked the treadmill so much I took a photo so I would remember the make in case I decide to purchase one for home! There were plenty of towels, a water cooler, fresh fruit and wipes for the machines.

The free happy hour and "raid the mini bar" perks are always much appreciated at Kimpton properties.

As I stated, my stay would have been perfect had I not had to ask four times for a copy of my bill to be emailed. Once at check-out, once on the phone, once through email, and then a second time on the phone which was met with positive results (thank you, Jessa!). Still, not enough to pull a star and I would definitely stay again.
