Nice hotel, pretty convenient to get to places, but a little tricky to get back to from downtown.  The staff were very nice and helpful, I don't have any complaints at all.  I would definitely stay there again.

Pretty location and the outdoor breakfast had great views and excellent service. The MUSC discount was about 1/2 price and conveniently located less than a mile from the hospital. The walls were pretty thin and there were few amenities, until I learned there were glasses and a coffee maker in the hutch. Lobby coffee was good. It was a comfortable stay.

Great hotel on the water. Have some construction currently (fall 2012) but it is not intrusive. Staff was helpful, rooms great, breakfast average but well priced.  10 minutes from waterfront and historic district.

Beautiful hotel with hot tub and pool!  We were here for a wedding at the Thomas Bennett house, so it was very convenient.  The staff was very friendly.  The room was comfortable.  Nicer than your average hotel ... no continental breakfast though -- bummer.

This hotel is classic courtyard marriott.  The rooms are clean, fairly comfortable (courtyard marriott beds don't agree with me for some reason).  

The hotel also has free parking which is a big deal if you are driving into town as parking downtown can be a nightmare.  

The 3 stars comes from the location and desk staff.  The location is across a major road from downtown, so it is not really walkable unless the weather is perfect.  It is also near the hospital, so it is a bit sketchy at night, so to get to the old city downtown, one has the option of trying to find parking or catching a cab.

Also, the front desk while nice was not all that helpful.  We arrived around 11pm on a Friday night (gotta love those O'hare delays), and the first lady at the desk could not give us the name of any place in the area that was open, and the second lady sent us to two places that after a 15 minute sketchy walk (see above) were also both closed.  We ended up ordering at 1am from pizza hut.

I give this Courtyard a less than desirable rating for two reasons.  1. The check-in process has you parking way out of the way and you cant get there from the parking area,
2. The TVs have not been upgraded and should be high on their priority list of needs.

Location: The waterfront view is cool. It is about 1.5-2 miles from the historic district so maybe not within walking distance in the Charleston summer heat.  There is a Marriott property right down the street also.

Also, looks like it is within walking distance of some hospitals in the downtown area.

The view was 5 stars.  The staff was nice and helpful but on the downside... we didn't spend our time in the small room. We had to pay extra for breakfast but the overall experience was nice.

Great view... Of a parking lot. Room could not be exchanged for twin-bed room, and waited a VERY long time to check in. Overall, nice lobby and pool area, but the view and balcony offerings are misleading- we were shocked to see a foot-wide balcony with a plastic table and chairs crammed onto it. Overall, a mediocre experience. Staff, however, were overall very friendly.

I was in Charleston with friends who had their reception dinner at the Courtyard Charleston Waterfront. What I saw of the hotel was incredibly nice, they have a good location, the staff was very attentive and helpful, the views are amazing (overlooks the yachts in the marina) and the Food Was INCREDIBLE! They prepared a low country boil with shrimp, potato, sausage, and corn. I Had a great time! Although I did not stay in one of their rooms one of the employees mentioned all the rooms had just been renovated. My recommendation is based upon a reception dinner and not an actual stay at the hotel as I only attended a reception there.

This hotel had a beautiful view and lovely premises (including an outdoor pool, fire pit, hot tub, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating), and is fairly close to downtown. The staff is very friendly and competent; in particular, the front desk clerk (Sara), the extremely hardworking breakfast staff, and the housekeeping staff.

We were upgraded to a beautiful water view room and we loved it. Clean, reasonably priced, friendly staff, and a great property.  The only downside was that in some brochures they advertise a free breakfast which we were under the impression they had.  It was a little disappointing that they didn't ad the breakfast choices to by are not amazing a little overpriced.  You are not within walking distance of the touristy things so we did have to drive which wasn't fun, but we didn't have to pay for parking which was nice.

It may be slightly outside of downtown but beautiful.  Painted a beautiful yellow with white trim.  Overlooks the river and yachts.  

They have a wonderful breakfast.  When I was there it was not free but you got so much for so little.  So, we filled up everyday thinking we would skip lunch.  We did t.  We ate way too much because of the great food in the city.

The decorations were nice and there were plenty of places to Sit and relax.  Read a book etc.  

There was a nice garage under the hotel and getting places was easy.  I liked this better than the Marriott location that was three blocks away.

Rooms were clean and the staff was friendly.  Waterfront view was beautiful and you could sit outside and have your breakfast.  We were there in January so it was a little nippy.

It is a hidden gem.

Good location  if you are driving in the city. Located between the bridges on the Ashley river with a nice view of the marina. The Building is so poorly constructed you can hear every sound from the courtyard, the halls and the rooms around you!

Overall, its a nice Courtyard. Rooms have been upgraded to new Marriott Courtyard style, with flat screens. Property is nicer than your typical Courtyard with the courtyard area facing the waterfront where you can hangout. I don't believe breakfast should be $10+ per person at these type properties, so we skipped that. Its close enough to the real downtown Charleston by car or hotel bus, so location is fine.

My only real issue was the internet access was kinda slow, and when you travel for work, fast internet is sometimes more important than a comfy bed.

It was a nice hotel, but I think that the name is deceiving.  The location was pretty inconvenient considering how close it was to downtown.  You are right next to highways going everywhere so forget about walking.

The parking is free, which is cool.

Okay hotel, abysmal customer service.

I was overcharged for my stay. I booked through a third party who collected the money upfront. The hotel also charged me when I checked in on my incidental credit card- which I never would have known if I didn't check my credit card bill (the charge isn't on my receipt).

The real kicker is when I tried to call them, the phone continually rang busy. So much for being able to rectify the situation. What kind of hotel doesn't have a working phone, or the ability to appropriately charge their customers for their stay?

Marriott customer service emailed them on my behalf, but I don't count on getting a response.  

Other than this epic fail in customer service, my stay was fine. The location is inconvenient, but the hotel is more reasonably priced than comparable hotels downtown.  However, based on this current headache and time-suck, I would most definitely NOT recommend staying here- you'll enjoy your stay but regret it afterward.

For the price( 300.00 plus) I was disappointed...room was fairly clean...but so over priced it made me laugh... location location so they say...whew... I have experience far better way more humble...go to Vacation Rentals by Owner...Oh my stars what fun awesome priced deals!!! I use this site always and have never gotten a bad experience!

I am not a big fan of this hotel.

Lobby is on the second floor so a little awkward getting to.  There is a turnabout near the stairs and elevator which takes you to the deck and still have to get to the lobby.

Covered parking is nice if you have a compact car.

The deck is the best feature.  Alcoholic beverages are pricey.  No dining except for breakfast.  Coffee station is near the lobby area and not convenient to the elevators.

Hotel is on a one way and is difficult to maneuver in and out.

My last check in there the host wasn't super friendly and gave me a room which had a blower on and blasting the a/c area where evidently water had leaked.  She said no one left a note.

We recently stayed at the hotel and had a pretty pleasant experience.  We switched rooms the second day (they moved our items for us while we were out) to a room with a view of the marina.  Sunsets were beautiful.
We took advantage of the hot tub while the sun was setting, again, very pretty.

Spent some time down at the bar in the evening.  Shannon was great and very friendly.  Knowing that the hotel usually holds wedding parties, one suggestion would be to plan to keep the bar open a little later to accommodate the flow of people returning to the hotel after an event.

I would suggest having some dining options available such as room service, as there is no restaurants within walking distance.

I'm torn between a 3 star and 4 star review. Here's why.

When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, there was a busload of what looked like spring breakers from a local high school or college. They were everywhere. They were drunk. They were pushing past me, my pregnant wife, and my son in a stroller. They thought we were different people and had conversations with us. It was a crazy nut house.

The poor front desk folks seems unaffected by everything going on around them. When we showed up, they didn't seem to care that it was our first time visiting and we'd just spent 5 straight hours in a car with a screaming kid. They handed us our keys and said no more.

We upgraded our room to overlook the pool. This was crucial because our baby monitor reached the pool, so we could hang out outside while little one slept in the room.

The hotel provided a pack and play for our one-year-old, which was pretty great. They didn't bother setting it up in the room, but no problems there. The pack and play was obviously used, had a few stains on it. Again, no problems.

Our room had a mini fridge and a microwave, both of which were sufficient. The shower was standard, the size of the room was standard, everything was fine. We tried to order dinner at their restaurant on the main floor, but I think they're only open for breakfast, which I guess makes sense in Charleston.

I really liked the main outdoor area with rocking chairs that overlooked the pool and marina. Probably one of the better hotel views in Charleston.

Oh yeah, they have a policy not to change the sheets until 3 days in to your stay. But we asked if they could change them 2 days in, and they did it, no questions asked.

Our romantic anniversary weekend consisted of finding out we slept on BLOODY SHEETS!!!

1) We checked in on Thursday and found our tub and sink were plugged.  While we were at a wedding they unplugged the tub but not the sink.  

2) We returned incredibly late and went straight to sleep.  We woke up in the morning to my boyfriend sleeping on a dirty pillow.

3) Laying in bed I looked over and found BLOOD on the bed.  I confirmed it was not from either of us and disgustingly realized, I had slept on someone else blood ALL NIGHT!!! Worse part was it was in the mid section, there were two large spots, it was more than obviously menstrual blood.

4) The hotel somehow disengaged our keys so I was locked out of my room at 6am.  Had to go to the lobby and request another.  The receptionist just asked for my room# and tossed the key at me like I had bothered her.  Not even an acknowledgment of their mistake.

5) When I called the manager regarding the blood, he took 3 HOURS, to return my call.

6) When the manager did call back, he said, "I listened to my voicemail. Come down to the front desk, we have vouchers for a free night." No acknowledgment of the situation, apology or even status of if they were going to send someone up to clean the room.

7) Returned to the room that night to find ZERO parking spots in the garage or connected lots.  Had to park in check-in parking.

8) All we asked of the manager was to have the room clean to "check-in" standards.  Returned to our room to find pubic hair on the toilet seat and outer wall of the bath tub.  Also, dirt on the floor of tub where the maid had stepped in the tub to access the interior towel rack.

9) Despite trying to bribe us to go away with offers of free hotels nights and breakfast, even on check out, nothing was received or acknowledged.  

10) Still 3 days after check out we have still to receive the call we requested Friday night from management.  We did call corporate.  They were receptive and warm.  However, despite ruining our 2 night anniversary weekend getaway, we have received 10,000 points.  That sounds like alot till you realize a night in a normal average room is 30,000 a night.  

Incredibly disappointing.  Hotel has tremendous potential.  Accidents happen, every hotel is going to have a blunder but to have a mistake of bloody sheets and not even take 30 seconds to come to the room or listen to what happened was disgraceful. Even after a full phone call, I still had to ask the manager if he was going to send someone up to clean up the blood since he had lacked even addressing the main issue.

Hopefully others continue to have better stays than this awful experience. At least, stays that require management attention, they may just leave as disappointed as us.

Beautiful view, nice enough room--nothing fancy. 1.5 miles to downtown is walkable, provided you have the time to burn.

The issues: one elevator broken all 4 days, the other incredibly slow. We were near the elevator on 2nd floor and it took 8-10 minutes on average to get out of the hotel. This is really ridiculous if not also unsafe. I used uber frequently and they'd be waiting and waiting downstairs even though I ordered the car service as I was walking out my door.

Our sink was also completely clogged. Running the water more than 30 seconds brought the level to near-flood. Try washing your face when you can barely speed-wash your hands.

Tried to check out fitness center--equipment broken or not well-maintained. Can't imagine it's extremely popular so don't understand the level of wear & tear.

They offer a "shuttle service" to the waterfront from the hotel. Roughly it runs every 30 mins. The issue? It's $6. Is this a joke?!?! My uber was $7 (tip included). That's me hiring a private car service, on my own time, which takes me door to door, with only a few moments notice--$1 more than sharing a rickety van with 6 strangers??? Either make it free or get rid of it.

Staying here and while the staff is nice, they are woefully understaffed for the number of people they have staying here.  The place is dirty, the carpet in the hallway hasn't been vacuumed in 3 days.  The place is worn and no one seems to be overseeing anything.  Good breakfast, rooms ok, we didn't get a view so what's the point? beds ok, towels are average, ...not sure I'd stay here again.

We have been staying here about once a year or so for the past 7 years.  It used to be a bit better than its current state. Slowest elevators on earth, carpeting worn, drain in bathroom sink about as slow as the elevator. Breakfast - everything tasted like grease.  I'm not a vegetarian but noted that no offerings there except fruit/cereal.  I'm not a coffee drinker and good thing I brought my own tea as the tea selection was limited to green tea or Lipton's. The exercise room was acceptable. Staff pleasant but looks like the ownership isn't paying attention. Guess if you sell out every night you don't have to.

Was staying downtown for a quick getaway and booked the first place I could using Marriott reward points. I lucked out for sure. The staff was great, room was clean, and the best part was the steaming hot outdoor jacuzzi - in December!!!

Only drawback was the parking and the speed of the elevators. The garage parking is a bit limited. I went down to grab some coffee in the morning. When I tried to go back up, I waited at least 10 minutes for the elevator to come.

Overall, great place.  The views of the marina and river are beautiful.
