Stayed here for Y'ALL Fest. Got a great rate and a very good room. 2 couples and a child and it was very comfortable in the 2Q Suite. Staff was great, especially Al who was super friendly and helpful. Hoping they offer the same next year for the Festival.

Well, I guess I'll just come out and say it.
It is absolutely filthy here. No bedbugs in sight after checking the mattresses and headboards, but the last time this room even saw a squirt of Windex or a vacuum was a long time ago. Duvet covers (which are routinely thrown on the floor no matter where we go) had piss stains on them, and the mattress on the bed closest the window was basically concave. Pillows and pillowcases smelled bad and I headed straight for the local Target to pick up a sleeping bag.
I wiped down the kitchenette area with a washcloth and it came away black. The refrigerator was particularly bad.
I'm sitting on the 'queen-size sleeper' in the living area and I've got the heebs just resting the edge of my ass on it to type this. Then why am I staying here, you might ask? For some ungodly reason, every single hotel in Chucktown is booked solid this week.
If this place was refurbished in 2010, I shudder to think what it looked like before that. Not quite as bad as staying at the Red Roof Inn, but pretty damned bad. Sandwiched in between some industrial zoning, this place is serviceable but only if you can take some pretty heavy duty amounts of filth.
The people at the desk are sweet as hell, though. Really friendly and funny. One bright spot in an otherwise very dismal experience.

Stayed here last night, we are in town for a mud run. The pictures online were nice and the price was right compared to other hotels in the area. When we first arrived, the lady at the desk seemed irritated that I asked her if it was possible to get my sisters room as close to mine as possible.
When we got to our room, it was a nice size! The "living room" was separate from the bedroom, which was nice! It looked clean, but had a funny smell, and the place was falling apart! Toilet seat was broken, all the faucet handles were broken, and the a/c unit was leaking!
I called down to the desk to see about getting extra towels and wash cloths, and the woman at the desk was extremely rude and seemed annoyed by my request!
We will not stay here again!

My husband purchased a Groupon for Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham Charleston in July for a one night stay. The price was reasonable and the location, about 15 minutes outside of Downtown Charleston, isn't ideal but fine for the price.
Upon entering we noticed that many of the furnishings in the lobby area were old and worn. The elevator we took to our room sounded like it was being turned with a hand crank.
A dog in the room across the hall was barking from the time we got off the elevator. The chair and sofa in the room were old and worn (holes in the fabric and you sink almost to the floor when you sit. The toilet in the bathroom was running and didn't look very clean, the bathroom floor was sandy. In the bedroom there was no covering on the box spring. We asked to change rooms and were moved to another floor.
The next room was cleaner, still no cover on the box spring and very worn furniture. The carpet is also very old to the point where I think its uncleanable at this point, dirt is ground in. I think sad is the best way to describe this hotel. My husband went to the front desk to express his disappointment and the staff was very apologetic.
We checked out and went to another hotel

Not the best experience. The light was burnt out by the bed, the faucet on the bathroom sink kept falling off when you turned on the water. You could tell the room was once used by smokers. It did not have a pleasant smell. The furniture was stained with burn holes. The feather bed was so lumpy on one side, we slept off to the one side of the bed. There isn't a lot of room for parking. The whole time we were there, construction crews took over the parking lot with equipment and sat outside drinking and smoking outside the door. The evening front desk staff were not very personable. The day staff were very nice and pleasant. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are better in Charleston.

Hawthorne by Wyndham - Charleston SC
We stayed at the Hawthorne from November 28th and checked out December 1st, 2014. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The stay included hot breakfast, free parking and free internet. The rooms were spacious with a mini kitchen that included a fridge, sink, and microwave. The place was clean.
The only negatives: it's not in downtown charleston; you will need a car to get to historic Charleston. It's about a 20 minute drive. The walls were super thin!! The guests next to our room were loud and awake past 12am and their noise felt they were in our room.
Positives: free internet, free parking, free hot breakfast!! Pet friendly. Clean and spacious rooms!!

Deodorizer over top of mold and you can tell they painted over the bad. It was hard to breathe being an asthmatic.
There was obvious mold spores coming from the ventilation. But otherwise the service was decent. They forgot our wake up call so I'm glad we set an alarm. Breakfast was subpar.
Might stay here again if we can't find a better hotel.
