I did not give this one 4 stars because of the location -- downtown is really the preferred location, but if you can't stay downtown or need to stay near the airport, this one is unbeatable if you are staying more than a night.  Full size fridge, dishwasher, completely stocked with dishes and utensils, clean, nicely furnished, great breakfast options including a to-go box you fill yourself from the hot breakfast bar (which includes hot, make your own waffles), and a happy hour that includes not only alcohol, but real food including salad every day, plus a hot item, which changes, such as chicken fingers, steak, etc.  My last stay, I showed up with a reservation for the wrong date (I'd mistakenly booked the room a week early).  They did not charge for the no show the week before and quickly got me a room for my stay.  Oh, also free internet in your room, and free computer use, including printer, in the business area if needed.

This hotel is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. I always choose the homewood every time I come to charleston and I'm greeted by the same friendly people who stop at nothing to ensure a satisfied stay. With a great breakfast, dinner and happy hour :) every night of the week, it turns a business trip into a vacation, month after month. They let's us use trays and pitchers by the pool, have dinner waiting for us in the room if we have a late flight, and have even customized the menu for a visit since the pot roast is amazing. Would recommend to anyone, even though I like to think it's my little secret paradise.

So far in all my travels, the experience at the Charleston Homewood Suites has been the best hotel stay yet. The rooms are well-kept, comfortable decor, attentive and caring staff, very clean, and great amenities. I would visit Charleston again just to stay at this hotel.

Outstanding place to stay. This is my 4th stay here. Great food and outstanding people manning the desk. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Charleston.

Great place to stay. Clean and spacious rooms.  Great breakfast downstairs, and great customer service. The pack-n-play we requested was already in the room when we checked in. Kyle was very friendly and helpful. And their complimentary shuttle service was very appreciated.

In terms of service, amenities and cost, this place is as good as it gets. We booked a room for when our group returned from a cruise. They offered free parking AND transportation to the cruise terminal. They also do breakfast and meals.  It's a little out of Charleston, but totally accessible. Plus, there is a close community of shops within walking distance. All and all, the best hotel experience of our vacation.

Very spacious, very clean, incredible pool area, quiet, convienient area to stores and Sullivan Beach and Isle of Palms. Our room had a stove and a little kitchen area!
Loved it. They even let us check in early.

Highly recommended. Oh and they offer free breakfast and a nice 24/7 gym.

Had a one night layover in Charleston, South Carolina  and had to scramble to find a hotel for the night. Hilton Garden Inn was available and it turned out to be a great experience. The hotel staff was courteous, helpful and the room was ready upon arrival and clean.

Homewood Suites was a great stay. Price was great especially for a full blown suite. Staff was beyond friendly and very helpful when it came to resturant suggestions. Rooms were also clean and bed was comfortable. Another perk was they offer free breakfast and dinner all week long. I never tried the dinner so not sure how it is but breakfast was lacking I was not a fan. It did seem they tried to change things up and offer different things than most Hotels but it wasnt very good. That was the only downfall to the Hotel other than that its definetly worth checking out.

"Home away from home [a must stay for families]!"
    Reviewed August 7, 2011
This review is written by a family of six (myself, my wife, my mom, and three children ages 1, 3, and 7. I say that because this hotel is very family friendly. It seems as though their rooms are built with a family concept.

I don't even know where to start it's all so good.

There is a reason tripadvisor.com rates this place as #1 of North Charleston. If you are concerned with the location... don't be. North Charleston is fairly 20 minutes from downtown but it's a wonderful drive. There are plenty of "all-day" parking lots downtown if you wanted to spend the day down there. It is also 30-45 minutes away from Isle of Palms Beach. We usually make it in 30.

The bed is SO comfortable we slept so good!

I had been a IHG Rewards member for quite some time but decided to switch to Hilton Honors this year so this Homewood Suites is our first stay at a Hilton other than the Hampton Inn.

In Charleston we had previously stayed at the Crown Plaza whenever in town [Charleston].
This hotel is the same price and it exudes all qualities of a 3 star hotel one would expect.

The customer service was excellent from start to finish and they were extremely helpful with accommodating our request for a double queen since they were unavailable when we booked our rooms. We didn't even have to ask they automatically put us close together with adjoining rooms.

The facility itself is in excellent condition. The interior is sparkling clean and beautiful. Their guests facilities such as the pool, gym, and business center are very well kept and organized.

Complimentary breakfast is a perfect selection of hot and continental choices. Their belgian waffle maker was a little hard to get to but then again, they're irresistible and if you make two that's enough for our entire family. There was plenty of seating as well as clean high-chairs.

The rooms were perfect. We booked one king and one double queen. They both had a living area and a small kitchen with stainless steel appliances as well as a kitchen table. The difference was that the double queen actually had the living room and kitchen in a separate room from the sleeping area (which I prefer).

There is a full sized refrigerator, sink, utensils, cups, dishes, dishwasher, microwave; everything a kitchen usually has. This was perfect for when we decided to order take-out, we just borrowed a high-chair from the restaurant area for the baby.

They offered free wifi which as great as well as a nice desk. The TV is a 32" flatscreen that rotates so you can watch it from the bed or the couch. The room with double queen has two flat-screens one in each room.

The bathroom shower had awesome water pressure! I liked it that the sink was not in the same room as the toilet.

Overall this has been by far one of the best family hotel stays we have ever had. I really regret staying at the Crown Plaza the past three times especially when the prices are the same. It feels like the other hotel should cost 40% less based on what they offer in comparison to Homewood.

Last thing I wanted to mention is that they have a complimentary grocery store run. You just leave a list of items you need from the supermarket and they do your shopping for you! This is a great feature if you are staying for 3-5 nights!

First off we book our room 2 weeks before coming down. We have 3 kids under 8. By the time we got to the hotel it was 8pm and the kids are tired. That morning we "pre-order" our rooms so we know which room were suppose to get and when we got here our room was taken. Then she offer us a joint rooms, few mins past "oops" no we can't do that. After 40 mins in the lobby trying to figure out what are we going to do with 3 kids. Only option is 2 separate rooms, so me and my husband are in different rooms with half of the kids. This isn't my idea of vacation especially being in the car for 9 hours driving down.

The rooms are small and you can hear the airplanes. Oh ya I can hear my neighbour flashing the toilet every time. I will never come back here again.

The Homewood Suites in North Charleston is a great hotel for either short or long stays.

The good:  Great rooms and excellent service.  Breakfast served daily, dinner Monday - Thursday.  Very hospitable.

The bad:  The gym and laundry facilities are a bit small given the size of the hotel and lengths of stay (only three washer and dryer units, no quarter machine).

Great hotel, great staff and the surrounding area is better than your typical hotels located near the airport! They have a free shuttle to and from airport and will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area!
