I want to start out saying if you are used to the Hilton or Marriott and don't want anything less, don't stay here. The rooms were clean, but we did run into having a smokeless room that reeked of smoke. We called the front desk and were immediately relocated to a room that smelled better.
The room was quiet (but this can depend highly on the other occupants) and clean. Water was warm, TV functional, WiFi free, friendly front desk staff, and beds comfortable. Also, there is a Ruby Tuesday in their parking lot - great for a late-evening snack or drink (what you actually think of Ruby Tuesday is up to you). Also, the hotel is close to the airport - about 10 minute drive.
I recommend this hotel, but again, if you're expecting a high-end hotel, this isn't it. It's provides a comfortable clean hotel to crash in. Didn't enjoy free breakfast so cannot comment on it.

Stayed here for two nights. This location is right off of 26. The building had a southwestern look to it with yellow paint contrasting the clay-colored roof. Checked in around 5:00pm and was greeted warmly by the desk staff. Check-in was quick and I was given a non-smoking room on the second floor.
The hotel is shaped like a "U" with rooms on the inside and outside and an outdoor pool on the inside. There are no elevators up to the second floor. My room was dated, but was odorless. The layout of the room to me was reminiscent of a Quality Inn that I had stayed at in previous travels. Bed and pillows were decent. Chairs in the room left something to be desired as the upholstery was coming unraveled and they were also two different styles.
This hotel gets two stars because of ultra-thin walls and windows, which allow too much sound in. In addition, while the air conditioner worked well enough, the fan did not work, which would have helped drown out some of the noise. The rating is also representative of the sad-looking breakfast buffet who's high points included Yoplait Yogurt and sausage gravy from a crock-pot.
Would I stay here again if the price was right? Yes. It's within walking distance of Ruby Tuesday, McDonald's, and IHOP. There's a Target within a mile. The free wifi worked like a charm. And I would know to bring earplugs to help block out some of the noise.

Oh my goodness!! I arrived at this place with a van full of people. I had reserved three rooms. Upon arrival was told the place was sold out and they didn't have rooms for us. After waiting we were given three rooms but not together. We were greeted with the worst smell of smoke even though we were assured they were non-smoking. One of our members got sick. Another vomited. Just horrible. The neighbors were having a party that made noise on the entire floor and it was after midnight. We weren't looking for the Ritz but a clean quiet place would've been nice. I'm returning to Charleston next month with another group. I know where we won't be staying.

I don't really know what the fuss of the awfulness is, it had an outdoor pool, pretty room except it doesn't have a washing machine, dryer, Microwave or refrigerator. It smells of smoke but you'll get used to it eventually. Other than that it's a pretty hotel I still don't see what all the ruckus was about, hope my review was helpful.

First, this is a motel not an inns and suites. That said it doesn't warrant the negative reviews it's gotten here. The bathroom is very small and the shower curtain was even smaller, but the water pressure was great and everything was clean. Beds were comfortable and pillows were fluffy. The pool area, though we didn't use it, looked very well kept and clean. We also saw no signs of cockroaches (and believe me my boyfriend would have found them because he was looking after I read him the reviews). Nice place for the money spent.

Basic, somewhat dated, but otherwise acceptable hotel. I have stayed here several times over the past few years. Not fancy. Reasonably priced.
If you want fancy or a five star experience, there are lots of other choices, for a lot more money. If you want a fairly clean place to sleep and not spend a lot of money, this place should work for you.
Easy access to to the freeways.
I am not sure what all the complaints are about. If if they expected five star, they should have paid for a five star place. YGWYPF.

I stayed here last minute because I was only in town for a day....so take notice that the word "Suites" is omitted....that's because this is a motel....you enter your room from the outside and yes, you can hear people walking by and talking and laughing and all that stuff...I payed around $80 through Orbitz but I'm thinking the prices are lower if booked in advanced...customer service was good when I checked in and out, however, I was a little bothered that they didn't ask for my ID or card when I checked in...my name was verified and they gave me a key...wow first time that happened!! No thrills type of place....I stayed there on a Saturday night and I was on the 2nd floor in front of the pool, so there were people in the pool late at night acting foolish but that eventually ended...I was so tired, anything else happened and I probably wouldn't have heard it....the important stuff for me was the bed was clean and the bathroom and towels were clean...the building definitely needs updating but I doubt La Quinta HQ will put the money into that...fine place to stay for just a few days and then go ahead and leave for your next destination.

Because we travel with two cats between Chicago and Florida each year, we book La Quinta as they are pet friendly. In fact we search for La Quinta hotels when planning our trip.
Normally the rooms are simple rooms, but clean, comfortable and serve their purpose. That is, of course, until we encountered this one. The place was so filthy we immediately called the 800 customer service number we used to book the room for help relocating to another La Quinta property nearby.
The carpet was covered with stains throughout the room. I don't think its been cleaned in 10 years.
The cushioned chair resembled something that someone threw out at the curb on trash day (after leaving it on the lawn for weeks.) It was filthy and covered in stains. I wouldn't sit on it as I don't want to guess if they are food stains or bodily fluids.
The bathroom floor needs a good scrubbing. All the corners were filthy with grime from months or years of cleaning staff just moving around the dirt and never cleaning the corners. I don't think anyone has ever given the floor a good scrubbing. The grout was beige, but as you can see from my photos, it looks black in the corners and along the walls.
The bath tub drips continually (see Asian water torture for the sound effect) and the faucet protrudes from the tub with a half inch gap that has been filled in with caulking.
The air conditioner filters were caked with dirt and I had to wash them as I have serious allergies and immediately began sneezing and my eyes began to swell. Thought it best not to breath in that junk all night.
All in all, the most disgusting hotel I have ever been to. We contacted customer service at La Quinta corporate who said that they could move us to another LaQuinta property about 10 miles away, but the cost would be nearly a hundred more for the first night. We agreed immediately. Then they said that the hotel clerk does not have authority to credit us for tonight so we would have to pay for the night here whether we stay or not. So basically it was going to cost us $300 for the first night if we went through with it. I told her that was unacceptable. The customer service manager was going to call the hotel manager to discuss a refund (he was at home) and then call us back in 15 minutes and make arrangements to moveus to the other La Quinta. Its been over an hour and it is now too late to move to the other hotel as they had only one room available over an hour ago and it has now gotten late so we are stuck here for the night. Hopefully we'll get lucky and not wind up bringing home bedbugs or other unsavory critters.
Tomorrow, rather than visiting Charleston as we had planned, we will continue straight on to Florida. There is no way that we can sightsee as planned. It will be in the 80s outside and that is why we plan two night stays. This allows us to travel to our destination the first day, check in, leave the cats at our air conditioned hotel the following day while we sightsee and then spend the night at the hotel before continuining on our trip. It will be too hot to leave them in a car tomorrow until 3:00 when hotel rooms become available and we don't plan on staying in this dump another night.
Thank you La Quinta for ruining the last few days of our trip. I need to say that listening to your recording about your clean rooms and new spacious lobbies over and over while I waited for customer service only made my mood worse. This commercial repeats repeatedly and the farthest thing from the truth as it relates to this location.
If anyone from LaQuinta would like to see them, I have photos of the room, some of which I have posted here as a warning to others!

Room price wise was a steal for fact that the phone never worked or was not fixed after asking front desk. Also towels were never refreshed by maids while we left for the afternoon. But what floored me is that my 15 yr old son left $100 out in cash and the maid stole it (probably thought it was a tip) but that would have been a hell of a good tip if were staying at the Ritz Carlton! Informed the front desk and they said they would look into it and call us by Tuesday. It's been a week past Tuesday and haven't heard back ( no surprise ). I do not recommend and I will not be returning!!!

The worst place I have ever stayed (including a foxhole I stayed in when I was stationed overseas). I don't want to write everything (it would take days), so I am gong to just list everything together:
Disgusting, non-smoking room reeked of cigarettes, dirty towels and open containers of leftover mystery foods in dresser drawers (obviously hadn't been cleaned for a long time), both phones didn't work, television didn't work, fire alarm was broken and literally hanging on by a wire, blood stains on a lamp, so much torn/ripped carpet (so much so that it felt like a joke), horribly rude & unaccommodating desk clerk, no soap/shampoo/towels in the room at all when we arrived, the person who was sent to "fix" our tv, came in, flipped a switch and claimed it was ready to go. It wasn't. It still did not work.
Do not stay here.

This property has definitely gone down badly. My initial "non-smoking" room smelled like a smokers' convention had just checked out. Front desk promptly moved me. The one positive was that it was very clean. Terribly noisy as it has become a refuge for traveling work crews who stay up late. The entire facility us in need of renovation, or, destruction and rebuilding. The continental breakfast was a joke. Decidedly the worst attempt at breakfast I have ever seen. Horrible coffee, hidden creamer, lack of spoons, bananas over the hill, no selection.
The fact that the housekeepers can keep this dump clean is a tribute to their professionalism. Whatever they are paid is not enough!

Avoid La Quinta inns. Period. We had reservations, even held by credit card, and they gave our room away anyways. Then they told us that they called to the La Quinta downtown and they had a room waiting for us. When we got there the downtown location was full too. We were just told a lie to get rid of us by the North Charleston desk clerk. This whole time we had a screaming infant by the way, which made the drive back to Columbia horrible.
Not worth your time or money, go someplace decent and avoid these dumps. Never had a good visit to a La Quinta, I guess I will never again be seduced and deceived by the low prices.

The hotel was a peaceful place to stay during a busy day of shows and and a break from driving. We stayed here after a show, before we had to leave the next morning to Wilmington. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The shower was one of our best's on tour with a powerful showerhead to wash off the grime and humidity of a day seeing the sights in the swamps.
We were right next to the pool, which was clean. Even though we were next to the pool though, we still had a quiet room. The breakfast was also great, just what we needed to get ready for another day on the road!
