Nestled amongst the trees just off the main road on Lookout Mountain, the Bavarian Inn is really quaint and cozy.  It's owned by the nice couple who live on the property and they seem to love what they do. It's by no means a chain and that does mean a lack of amenities, but sometimes it's more fun to get off the beaten path. The rooms/cabins are all connected in a row and each has it's own back porch that overlooks the mountain, the valley and river below that and the city just beyond. It's a beautiful view, even though if you look straight down and across the river there is a mental hospital. Ruby Falls and some tasty restaurants are right up the mountain. If you have to be in a place like Chatt for awhile (er, no disrespect, it's very nice there), this is a cool place to stay with a home-y feel.

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the summer and we had a wonderful time.  It's beautiful, clean, interesting, and we can't wait to go back.  Perfect for getting out of New York and relaxing in the country.  Can't say enough great things!

I went here with my boyfriend for a long weekend and it was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it. Everyone was very nice and the room was very clean. It was like our own private get away!

Simple accommodations with a great view of the Tennessee river and a beautiful nighttime view of Chattanooga lights. The cabins are old (quaint) but clean and well kept. If there was WIFI we didn't pick up a signal, and that was fine. The back porches are a wonderful way to disconnect. if you stay here, see Rock City up the mountain above you or Ruby Falls around the corner.

The view is the only great thing here. The hillside hideaway needs a desperate makeover. One bedroom doesn't have a door at all. The bedroom that does have a door the door won't shut and the knob is falling off. The bathroom door won't close either, leaves a good 3 inch gap so you have no privacy. The refrigerator was old and dirty. The sheets were stained and dirty. This could be a great place to stay but in it's current condition we will NOT be back and I would suggest it to an enemy.

Away from being a B&B, this motel lacks maintenance big time. A/C window units are noisy and in need of replacement. On room 12 the beds, uneven mattresses, furniture, carpet and flat pillows look very outdated and smell like it. Building is not structurely square so most doors do not function properly. Pest control was a big issue since we found a cockroach in the kitchen towel along with spiders and ants all over the place. No cleaning service while we were there. Cigarettes butts were on the deck the entire time. Continental breakfast was badly arranged. This included frozen food and unhealthy snacks that looked more like a pantry in an old house. Kitchen in our room was useless. No pans, silverware, dishes or sponge. The view was the ONLY attractive feature here in this cat city (owner must have 10 wild cats). We were hoping to have a very pleasant and cozy stay on Mother's Day weekend but we were sadly disgusted by all of the above. Only chance to see the staff was when we arrived and had to pay upfront not knowing what we were about to experience. Not coming back never ever!

I loved this place.  The problem with this inn is that no other accommodation you stay at will compare.  I stayed here with my ex fiance. We arrived late at night and on check in all they needed to see was my drivers license.  I found it bizarrely trusting that they didn't even want to swipe my credit card.

We had a room with a jacuzzi which was huge and directly next to the bed.  We had a balcony overlooking the river and there were seats and a small table out there.  We didn't have a fridge but luckily we had traveled with an ice chest so we were able to keep wine cool to enjoy out on the balcony.  This place is perfect for a romantic get away.

There is a little cabin where they keep an ice maker, leaflets and where they serve pastries and coffee in the morning.

Each day they left a little gift for us.  The first day they left Popsicles and the next they left us candles.  The service is so personalized and it's absolutely beautiful.  I wish I could stay somewhere like this every time I went away.

There are cats and kittens all over the place. Very cute! This place is a little more costly than I would normally spend on a hotel but you definitely get what you pay for!
