General: Great location in the heart of downtown. Recently renevated and the entire interior facility had a was very fresh/clean look. Desk staff was great the whole time. There is a charge for parking but only a very reasonable $8 per night.

Room: Stayed on the Hilton Honors floor (10th), but don't know if there are differences on any other floor. Room exceeded expectations for this class hotel. Bed was very comfortable (stayed 4 nights so plenty of chances to test it). Clean bathroom of average size. Shelf space embedded in the wall big enough to handle all my toilietries (at least for a guy) was a nice touch.

Entertainment: Good quality TV with wide range of TV channels, including several HBO choices. The very slow wifi (speed test graded it the same as a 3G phone, 1/5th the speed as you typical home wifi!) was one reason I didn't rate the hotel a 5. The other reason was a very sparse fitness center. Looked like about 4 treadmills and a shelf of barbells, but plenty of room. On the plus side there are at least two gyms close by that accept out of town guests, Rush Fitness ($5 if you show your hotel room key) and The Sports Barn ($10, which FYI had a really nice indoor lap pool). If you're a runner, I'd recommend the Riverwalk which, predictably, runs along the river providing nice scenery.

Food: The restaurant is a full service kitchen. Ate 3 meals there, all breakfast. I ate the buffet twice in the dining room and had room service one day. plenty of selection. All food was tasty, even the eggs which I rarely will try in at a hotel buffet. Lot's of other (I suspect better) food options around town, but not a bad choice for breakfast.

For its category, a superlative operation. Great location for access to the TN Aquarium and other Chattanooga attractions. Staff very friendly, helpful, and informative. Restaurant very good. (Not great.) Price is related to location, I suspect. Very clean. Very modern. Rooms well laid out. It's just not a five-star hotel. What can I say? For a four-star hotel it deserves five stars... if that makes sense.

Great! Really nice, love the cookies and complimentary bottled water. The in-room, fridge and microwave came in handy and the free wireless was a nice treat. Our room was fairly quiet, unlike at other hotels where you can hear everything your neighbors say. After finding less than desirable local watering holes we decided to get some liquor and head back to our room; it was so nice we preferred to spend our evening at the hotel. The only downside of our stay was during check-in.  There were two women working at the front desk when we checked in, which should have kept the line moving.  Unfortunately it appeared that one of them was trained in checking in/out guests  ONLY, any inquiry that required further knowledge meant the other woman had to stop what she was doing and come to the rescue. This made checking in a rather long process. If I ever come to Chattanooga again this will be the place I stay and every time thereafter.

This place is amazing.  I had such a great time.  The bar is nice.  The restaurant is wonderful.  The staff is so in-tune and friendly.  The rooms have such a welcoming comfortable feel to them.  I really enjoyed my stay and the room service breakfast was fast and delicious.

My only complaint was that when I pulled up the entrance, I sat in the car for a long time waiting for valet or bellhop.  After waiting for a long time and in the rain, I got out of the car, grabbed my bags, loaded them all inside, checked myself in, went back out and parked myself in the guest parking lot that is about 30 yards away compared to the valet parking which is right next to it.  Self parking is 8$ and valet is $12 plus tip, but I didn't have to worry about that since the valet didn't seem to want to work in the rain.  This is part of the hotel experience that a Hilton Doubletree hotel should never get wrong considering the amount of money you spend.

Exactly what you'd expect.  If you're in town, go ahead and stay.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, even though there were a few unsatisfactory items. We were in town for a wedding, so we didn't spend much time awake in our room. That made the fact that our TV had no audio tolerable. When I tried to call the front desk, the phone had no dial tone. When I went down to speak to a desk staffer during checkout, he was on the phone, but then awkwardly kind of greeted me, but at the same time wasn't listening to me.  Also, the elevators are kind of slow, but that's because there are only two of them. Once you're on one, they move quickly.

So, with all those complaints, why give it 4 stars?  Well, I suspect the TVs and phones work in most rooms.  The restaurant had a nice breakfast buffet and the waitstaff was very friendly. The furnishings throughout the hotel are new and nice. I didn't use the gym, but my wife gave it a favorable review.  Also, the location of this hotel is amazing. Walking distance to what seems like all the best entertainment in town.

Not only is this hotel new, clean and in a nice location, but also the staff is excellent.  You get free warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk (they really are delicious and are available all day long if you want more, except for late at night).  The rooms are well furnished, the beds very comfy, free WiFi throughout, and the bar "Eleven" has a very trendy lounge feel to it.  There's also a pool and exercise room; both look immaculate.  But the best part of this establishment is the staff.  Everyone there is very friendly, from the valets at the front door to the attentive attendants at the front desk, to the housekeeping staff carting through the halls.  Will, at the front desk, is particularly exceptional.

The only negatives I can think of were that the elevators took a long time (though, the hotel was pretty full with wedding guests) and we weren't able to order an extra roll-in bed (again, probably due to the high volume of guests).  Another minor detail is that the bathroom door in each room ise huge and swings out into the entranceway of the room, which makes for some awkward maneuvering if you have more than one person in there.

But all-in-all I really have to give this place the highest recommendation.  It was a very positive experience and, combined with a fantastic first impression of Chattanooga, I'm certain that I'll be returning to this city and this hotel again.

The front desk staff is great! Brad checked me in and I also asked for an upgrade to a suite which I received at no additional charge. The rooms are nice and clean... The entire hotel was clean..very nice establishment! BUT, I ordered room service the next morning for breakfast...it wasn't worth the money AT ALL!!! The pancakes were almost 1 inch thick and had a cornbread taste, the scrambled eggs tasted like egg beaters, the fruit wasn't ripe, the best part about the meal was the limp bacon, potatoes, and toast, which wasn't the best either. Maybe the head chef was off on Sunday, 2 June 2013, not sure...but whomever was cooking didn't give this nice hotel justice , who prides itself on its name and service. The kitchen staff ruined my experience! But I will stay again....just won't order room service.

This is one of the BEST  hotels I've ever stayed at. All the staff were friendly, eager to help and remembered who I was when I walked up. They were accommodating to all our requests (joint room, extra pillows etc) and never once did I feel like I was an inconvenience. The entire hotel was clean and we'll kept with a modern design that was still inviting. The front desk was concierge like in its knowledge of the area and saved us time with their recommendations.  Their breakfast buffet was delicious, fully stocked and you can order eggs how you like them.  Excellent stay!!  My next trip to Chattanooga will include a stay here!!

The best Doubletree we have ever stayed in, hands down. This former Clarion has been completely made over...it is clean, modern and gorgeous. It is in the heart of downtown which has it's plusses and minuses...we were there on a weekend and I must say it was hopping. A frat (and their floozies, er, girlfriends) were staying at the hotel for a party weekend...the staff was kept hopping confiscating drinks, etc from them. Needless to say, it was loud. It was loud in the hallways, it was loud in the lobby. It was loud in the restaurant, these kids need a new hobby. I don't know...ite seemed kind of lame. Back in the day, we had dorm rooms and frat houses to do our business...sneaking drinks at a hotel? Lame.

In any case, the advantage to this situation was that nobody could hear our baby when she was crying. How convenient! We really appreciated the friendliness of the staff. We will definitely be back!

I rarely give 5 (I rarely bother to review). This property is nicely renovated & the staff take obvious pride in it. The food is good, the bar is good (if a little kludgy in design), but the staff raise it a level. They all go out of the way to make me feel welcome & @ home. I spend a lot of time in hotels every year so that counts big for me. Will stay here when in town.
Special mention to Ashley @ front desk, Jennie @ bar, & Laura @ restaurant who make this a comfortable & welcoming hotel.

I travel a good big for business, and have logged close to a thousand nights at Hilton properties; however, after my experience at this hotel, I won't be staying at Hilton again.

My wife and I came in for the Riverbend Festival and stayed at the hotel.  It was very apparent that the hotel was not ready for the significant increase in business.  The staff was hurried and rushed...and the bell staff/valets were quite rude. Additionally, the wireless was very unreliable.

When went to check out, we noticed the valets damaged our vehicle.  Unfortunately, the hotel has stuck me with the bill after much back and forth.

I'd advise staying at one of the Marriott properties downtown instead of this one.

This is an amazing hotel. It's new and very clean. The location could not be better.

There are two reasons I didn't give it five stars:
     (1) No Lodgenet (PPV movies).
     (2) Very slow Internet

Everything else is perfect. Be sure to check out happy hour at H2O bar and eat at Eleven. It's too cold to swim right now, but the pool looks like a lot of fun. Access to downtown is as easy as walking out the front door. This is easily the best hotel in Chattanooga.

I give this location 4 stars and I am rather tough on hotels.
Why? Staff here is great, rooms are great, location is great.

With my Hilton status I usually get an upgrade to a suite from time to time depending on booking.

Has a nice bar downstairs and the morning buffet works well.

Location: Best thing here is you are in the heart of Chattanooga. Park your car or Valet if you wish, then your done. Everything you want is in walking distance.

OK, you may be thinking all the rave and no 5 star rating? My only bulk with DoubleTree is the price. Most rates are seasonal and seem to peak to 189.00 per night during the leaf peeping season. Add parking and the Tennessee sales taxes and you end up at 220.00 per night. Just a tad high for Chattanooga in my opinion.
Don't feel alone DoubleTree as the others on Chestnut are right there with you.

Great bar and restaurant. Was across the way in the Hampton since the Doubletree was booked. H2O had great appetizers, drinks and dinner. Very friendly staff and a fun night right across the way.

The reason for my 2 star was due to Susan the host.  If it wasn't for her I'd rate it a 1 star. From the beginning it was clear that she was overworked, but she maintained that helpful positive attitude and even took time to answer our questions about the city.  When looking at the rest of the restaurant, the food had run out, there were no other staffers helping her out and we had to wait a long time for a table to be cleared off.  Several guest in front of us left, but eventually we got seated.  Now in Susan's defense she did say they weren't expecting such a large crowd, but given there was a huge race in town, management should have planned better.  Having been a server many many years ago I can appreciate good service and strongly think that the customer is your paycheck.

Wow! Double Tree Chattanooga, I am IMPRESSED.  I love this chain anyway because of the warm, fresh baked, delicious chocolate chip cookie upon check-in (obviously), but I love it for so many other reason as well. I appreciated the in room microwave as well as the make-up remover. Crucial for me as I remembered on the plane, that I had forgotten my own. (Thanks DT)  Amenities missing however: a shower cap - Totes that was standard. What happened?

It might just be a southern thing, but the hotel staff was crazy polite. Every staff member I came across greeted me with a smile, a salutation, the kind of "how's your day?" that makes you feel like their genuinely interested, and a sincere desire to make sure you had everything you needed.

My king bed was amaze and super comfy! The room service was legit, speedy, and seemed super affordable, especially for a hotel.

It was Chattanooga, but it was paradise during my short 3 night stay thanks to the Double Tree.  I'm sure this won't be my last visit and I look forward to staying here again.

This is a nice, clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff in a great downtown location.  The pool area is beautiful with a fire pit.  No Jacuzzi, but super seating area and gathering spot.  The hotel staff is incredibly helpful with directions or anything you need.  Oniste restaurant is open until 10PM, but you can easily walk to quite a few interesting restaurants at night without moving your car. There is valet and self parking for a fee.  Valet is $12 with unlimited in and out.  The only note I would make is that the rooms at the end of the corridor are very small and have a half wardrobe instead of a closet so you cannot hang up a full length dress or suit.  It was fine for a one night business traveler, but I would ask for other rooms if you are there longer or have more than one person in the room.  Very nice place.

This is a nice hotel with nice amenities and a friendly staff, however, for what ended up being over $200 a night, it came up short of my expectations. For one, the air conditioning unit in my particular room was by far the loudest I have ever experienced in a hotel - it sounded like someone was kicking the door in every time it fired up. We eventually just turned it off to get some sleep. Second, there was still a 5:55am alarm set (from the previous guest?) that caused another major sleep disturbance. I mean even motel 6 resets the alarm clock... Not the end of the world, but annoying to sleep so poorly in such a nice place.

Disappointing is the kindest description. The hotel is physically appealing and in a good location for enjoying downtown. The rooms are nice. That's as far as I can go on positives. Not sure I'll bother with this one again. Hampton Inn is a block closer to the sights and my expectations are lower for a Hampton.

Warm cookies? They're on the website. They're on the room key card. They rated 5 stars on someone else's review. We had none on check-in. They delivered on two giant trays while we stood to get our key cards reprogrammed because the desk turned them off. We stood there drooling and finally just asked for one. Inept staff can ruin even the simplest marketing plan. And they did.

Best description overall: poorly staffed. If you're not going to staff it, why have a restaurant or bar? I was actually expecting to spend an evening "in" and enjoy a hotel restaurant that might actually participate in the downtown experience. Silly me! I suspect they can't attract and  keep good help. MANAGEMENT PROBLEM! When workers are too few, however everyone loses. Why would anyone want to spend time at a restaurant or bar that isn't focused on being successful? That's probably why the restaurant is closed for dinner. It used to be open. The restaurant name dominates the marquee out front. Sad really.

The front desk was best staffed during the day. Evening was down to a skeleton crew and definitely not first team capability. Housekeeping seemed to spend more time chatting in the hallways, though the only real complaint I have with housekeeping is that they disposed of personal bath soap left in the shower. Could be a simple mistake, but is fitting to an overall lack of focus.

I stay at this hotel about once a month,  I am a fan. The beds are extremely comfortable,  and you have probably 200+ channels on the TV so that's always a plus.  Typically very clean, the only complaint would be you typically have to ask for a cookie at check in...  You would think with that being their entire marketing plan that they would offer them to you...

Okay.. We checked in and was pleased with our room. However, on the way out we decided to grab the breakfast buffet before hitting the road. Bad idea!!
This has to have been the worst breakfast I've ever had at a hilton chain. We stood in line and waited for a table. There were two of us in line. The first couple decided to just leave. Another guest came up and said we would just need yo seat ourselves because there were tables available but no staff.
We walked in and I literally saw every table loaded with dishes. I was stunned.
We checked out the buffet which didn't look too bad but there was no silverware or coffee.
The poor host was trying to do her job and apparently cook and clean at the same time. She (Susan) was trying very hard to make the best of a bad situation.
The buffet is close to an $11 meal, which the potatoes were not cooked and they were cold.
Hilton is a name I trust for quality and consistency. I was sorely disappointed.
