I have been to many third world countries with better hospitality then this place. Most of the staff I met seemed nice however the management is some of the worst I have ever seen and as a result is driving what could be a decent place into the ground. Certain things like no power outlets, no heat or air conditioning, an unfinished top floor and a pool which I would expect a dead body to be stuck at the bottom of, were things that caught my eye, I know times are tough and it can be difficult to manage a business but that is something one should fully understand before taking the job. When some of my friends i was traveling with consulted management about these issues they received nothing but rude unprofessional neglect. Also do not fall for the so called free valet parking, when checking out i noticed a 12 dollar fee for every day i parked in their "FREE" valet parking. Extremely overpriced. I will never stay there again if i can avoid it.

I made reservations to this place 3 weeks in advance.  The day I showed up to check in THE HOTEL WAS CLOSED.  There was a scribbled note on the door telling me that the hotel "broiler" (think they meant "boiler") was broken and that the hotel would reopen Friday at noon.  Well, I was there at 10PM on Friday tired and ready to sleep and the hotel was completely shut down.

Did I get a phone call explaining the situation?  NO.  Was I able to talk to anyone at the hotel even though I tried calling all day to let them know I was going to check in late?  NO.  Did anyone reply to the email I sent asking them to hold my room until 10PM?  NO.  And to make things worse, they were aware of the boiler (or was it a broiler?) issue days in advance (see this article: elpasotimes.com/business… ).

This hotel (if you can call it that) is unprofessional and the management (if you can call them that) should be ashamed of they way they treat their customers.

So to sum it up, if you're looking for somewhere to stay in dowtown El Paso AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, the Artisan Hotel.

And in case you think I'm a psycho who only writes negative reviews, check out the following links: tinyurl.com/artisanelpaso and ktnv.com/Global/story.as… and hotel-online.com/News/20…

ZERO stars, this hotel is one giant FAIL. Two weary travelers show up totally looking forward to falling asleep in the luxury that their website boasts only to find it CLOSED!!! WTF?! Now we're scrambling around downtown El Paso at 10 p.m. trying to find an available room.

Completely unprofessional. We didn't get a phone call or any kind of notice from management. The bf thought something was fishy when he tried e-mailing and calling all day today to arrange a late check-in and no one answered. We get there, the doors are locked and all we find is a sloppy note taped to the door saying, "broiler under repair. Reopen Friday at noon." Um, maybe as a business that rants about how classy and luxurious it is, you can pick up the damned phone or send out an email to customers who have reservations for the time that you are closed. Just an idea.

The bf talked to the staff of the hotel we were able to get a room at and apparently it was in the local paper that they'd been having issues with their boiler all week. All week? You know there's a problem and you don't inform your guests?! Ugh, that just angered me even more. Stay away from this place. Overpriced with ridiculously horrendous customer service. If you think I'm just a ranting lunatic, do a Google search for other reviews of this hotel on a few other websites.  The El Paso Times has also written several articles about The Artisan's poor labor practices and bad management. STAY AWAY.

I drove by this place on one of my fiance's and my excursions through Downtown El Paso. I have to admit, I was a bit jealous that I wasn't staying here, instead of the Camino Real. I've never been here, but I will say their website has won me over. If they ever open. If they were actually open, they'd get a higher rating. The opening date keeps changing, so that makes me a little suspicious...

Look for an update in the next few months, 'cause this is my destination next time I venture back home (if they ever open!)....
