History

Established in 2003.

Super 8 Hotels Inc. is the world's largest budget hotel chain, with hotels in the United States and Canada, as well as newer properties in China. The company is a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide, formerly a part of Cendant.
Super 8 was founded in 1972 by Dennis Brown and Ron Rivett as a hotel referral system, which was replaced with a franchise operation in 1973. The original room rate was $8.88, hence the numeric brand name.  The first Super 8, with 60 rooms, was opened in 1974 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, which still operates today as "Aberdeen Super 8 East".
Super 8 had a frequent traveler program, the V.I.P. club, which was introduced in 1976; it grew to over 7.6 million members. The program was purchased by Hospitality Franchise Systems, which later became Cendant, in 1993. The V.I.P. program was dissolved in December 2003 and replaced with the TripRewards program, which was renamed Wyndham Rewards in 2008.

alas, we won't be staying here again.  the staff is all wonderful and the lobby is sparkling but the rooms are just so icky.  they each have a recliner chair in them that is just filthy.  we had to cover ours with an extra sheet that we got from housekeeping.  and the bathroom tiles were gunked up and broken.

i think when we first started staying here it was either new or remodeled. the problems with the place actually speak more to the piggishness of the clientele than the diligence of the staff, but it is what it is...

and i do love the staff and the "gym."  but the room cleanliness (and pool too) is just too much to take.  we'll have to look elsewhere.

We stayed in a jacuzzi room for two nights. The jacuzzi was half the size of the room, with extra towels, soaps, hard jets and lots of hot water. This was absolutely worth the 230$ price tag.

-The room was clean. It had been vacuumed and smelled very nice. I always like to inspect the bedding, shower, toilet, etc. I was very impressed.

-The curtains totally suck. They keep no light out. The A/C does not blow very hard and it was quite uncomfortable.

They do have laundry, vending machines, and breakfast in the morning which I would recommend avoiding if you value your innards.

They also have parking for big rigs and RV's inbetween the hotel and gas station next door.

I would recommend it even though the staff was less than cordial on more than one occasion. Book online for bigger discounts.
