This is a review on the restaurant in the hotel. The "Humble Cafe". We went as we are staying at the hotel at 9:00pm  to get something light to eat, like sandwiches. There were 3 in our party, and 2 other tables in the restaurant. We ordered 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and an order of mozzarella sticks. 45 minutes later and me complaining, I got my sandwich burned, the other one was cold, so much the cheese was starting to harden again, and the mozzarella sticks were cold. no apologizes were given. We won't be eating there again.

I don't know if this was an isolated incident, but my stay was horrible. People were Yelling screaming and running in the hotel halls all night long. 2 am to 5 am limited sleep as a result the hotel finally called the police and had the guest removed. In the morning no apology was made despite the fact the staff was fully aware of the issue.  I had to ask, the front desk for a comp before the incident was even acknowledged. I shouldn't have to ask for an apology at checkout it should be automatic. My poor score is a result of the lack of acknowledgement of the problem not the inconsiderate guests.

A very clean and comfortable hotel.    The staff is extremely nice and helpful.  The breakfast was very good.  The location is fine if you are there for business.  For pleasure, try to stay in Galveston.

I returned from the Yukon on Saturday and on Monday I was off again on a business trip to Houston.  I really didn't want to go, but the timing of this globally mandated program left me little choice.

And on top of that, Tropical Storm Edouard was projected to come through Houston (and did).  As a precaution, my employer announced (while I was on the plane) that the central offices would close at least on Tuesday.  So after encountering empty office buildings and a few open shops underground, I headed back to the hotel for my "free" day.  It did storm significantly and luckily there were some inside retail therapy opportunites in addition to the pub (Flying Saucer) down the street.  I also spent a fair amount of time in this very comfortable hotel with internet, TV, and some good reading to keep me company.

So if 68 degrees in December isn't awesome enough, I get to stay at the Courtyard Marriott on Dallas and Main.  The hotel is either brand new or recently updated.   The lobby, rooms and every inch of the property are well maintained and extremely clean.  Marriott has a fantastic chain of hotels, I have never stayed in one I didn't enjoy.

Its nice to stay in a place like this and feel comfortable and have some privacy.  Especially when you haven't been home in 5 months.  Its like a breath fresh air.

Clean.
Bed are very comfortable.
Big rooms.
Free internet.
Great shower.
Freindly and helpful staff.

The rooms are nice and the staff courteous and helpful. The small restaurant is overpriced and the food below average. It is within walking distance of many downtown offices if you are a business traveller.  If not for the restaurant I'd give it 4 stars, so my solution is to stay here and eat elsewhere.

The rooms have single pane glass windows which give a nice view of the public train outside. CHOO CHOOOO!!!! ...every 15 minutes until 2AM. Ambient traffic noise is also loud and clear inside the rooms. There should be a corporate ban on single pane windows.

**WORST STAY EVER*
If I could give them half a star, that'd still be to high. Their staff ids terrible. I waited over an hour, just to get my car. Valet only.. the line alone was a mess to get your car parked!! worst idea this hotel came up with. The bistro was overly priced, and be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food. I will never stay here ever again.

Stayed there for a week for work because it was close to the office. The Staff was really friendly and greeted me every morning and every evening when i came back. The staff at the Bistro was very friendly as well. The food was good and the price reasonable for downtown. There are not many restaurants in the area that are not very pricey, most are around $25+ per person. There is a BBQ place on the other side of the building but when i walked by it was completely empty, not even any staff was visible so i did not go in.

The room was a nice size with a queen bed and a small sofa in font of it which is  facing the tv and the desk that is across from it. The room was relatively clean. I say relatively clean because there were some stains on the carpet by the bathroom area. But the towels, bed sheets and couch looked pretty clean. You can tell its an old building with old pipes as after you flush the toilet every other time you can hear a really loud vibrating noise from inside the wall that last about a minute.

The room is a bit noisy as others have stated because the windows are only single pane and thin. I was lucky enough to be on an inside room on the 7th floor so the noise from the train and the noise from the new high rise being built across the street was not as loud. With the tv on you wouldn't noticed it. But if i was on a lower floor and with a room facing Main Street i would have most certainly been annoyed as the train runs from 6am until 11pm and you can hear it rolling by and blowing its horn about every 30min if nto sooner.  If you have a room facing Dallas St you will be annoyed by the construction across the street that starts at 6am and ends around 6pm every day. They just started clearing the site so that construction will probably be going on for a while depending on what they put there.

There is a bust stop right in front of the hotel so there is quit a lot of foot traffic until about 8pm. But not many homeless or other characters around that i noticed. They certainly did not ask me for anything or bother me any.  Heck the taxi cab drivers harassed me more!

I briefly had an office that overlooked the pool and into rooms if their shades were not drawn. So it was weird being in a hotel room overlooking my old office and any other offices that had not invested in blinds.

It is an older hotel. The pool on the terrace is nice. It has a Starbucks attached so it gets points there.

Not the best hotel option downtown - it is not in the theatre district. But if you are willing to walk and/or use the light rail then I suppose distance is not the most important thing. But if you want to roll out of bed and instantly be at the courts or the theatre district you can do better on location (and likely better on the price as well.)

For the location, the property isn't too bad. Its definitely an older hotel, as the lobby (which has the updated bistro concept) may mislead you. The rooms are pretty standard courtyard layout, with small tvs. I'm saddened that the bedside lamps don't have power plug outlets so to plug a phone near your bed is to move some furniture. The showers/bathroom is slightly awkward layout (although convenient since the sink is outside of the bathroom), as the shower is behind the bathroom door so it can cause you to bump into things if you shower with the door open (when you are the only person in the room, you get lazy). The closet is old school accordion mirror opening and mine was rickety. My thick curtains also had no rods to open them (the rod was on the floor) so I had to do some reverse engineering to open them...to my view of a empty concrete space in the middle of the hotel.

The gym is small, and SUPER hot. I even tried to turn the thermostat down but it just never cooled down. Tvs work fine, and the big tv allows you to listen to news and such. Cool towels were nice option, but all the towels smelled a bit funny. Not enough weights, and definitely not enough benches (only 1 bench). The pool is nice outside, with the hottub and offers a nice way to cool off (especially in the hot Houston weather). Staff is all friendly and nice, and the bistro offers your typical courtyard fare. Starbucks attached to the place is also nice, but it closes pretty early. I wish they had tunnel access, but you can come out of the Macys from your work location and be across the street from the hotel, so that's pretty solid too.

Overall, decent property. Needs a lot of updating in the rooms and they could probably do without the cheesy music playing 24/7. Oh and for god sake, make the workout room not be a sauna please.

WARNING - AVOID!!!!

I'll start out by saying that I did not stay here.  Why you ask? Well, I had a reservation and checked in.  That was enough.  I checked in at 2PM, 1 hour prior to official check in.  I was told that my king size bed would not be ready until 3, and if I wanted a room then I had to wait and hour..really?  OK, I went with the two beds to avoid sitting in the lobby...  The woman who was "helping" me was Meriam.  Remember that name.  

So I go upstairs and and unpack.  I then called down and asked Meriam about my breakfast coupons.  She said "you did not pay for that with your rate"  Seriously?  I am Platinum member Ma'am.  No free breakfast for you!  Not that breakfast is a deal breaker, but it was just her attitude and way that she handled it.  

I said, well I think I am going to check out (not that I wanted to) and go to the Residence Inn next door.  She asked if I needed assistance making a reservation next door...Are you F-in kidding me???  I packed up my stuff, handed in my key and walked next door. Keep in mind that this is the same building and company!

I was pleasantly greeted and given a room, happy hour and free breakfast..but I will save that for their review.

So, I would give the Courtyard 4 stars based on all my personal and extensive business travel (okay 3.75 ;) ), but....

The staff is so absolutely superb that they deserve 5 stars!!  I've stayed lots of places and I am not in to the pretentious BS sort of service you may get elsewhere.  Without knowing what company I came from or what size my party was, they provided me with friendly, customized, and thoughtful service ALL AROUND.  From Mike, our shuttle driver in the morning, to my delightfully friendly server from Florida (I am sorry to have missed your name!), to the super thoughtful guy (James!  What an incredible service asset!!) who helped me up to my room KNOWING I DIDNT HAVE A TIP!!, y'all are amazing!  Thanks for the amazing service, making me want to come back, amd leaving a great  impression.  A hotel is a hotel, but my experience with your service is nearly unparalleled!

Not the greatest location, jumbled up mess getting to drive in near the front door.  And around the "oil well" fountain.  How cute!  This place is older, and probably needs a bit of a freshening up, although the lobby was nice.  However, the greeting we received was awesome as we drug our battered bodies to our room.

Loved the high ceilings in our room and the view of the pool.  Later that night, the pool would come back to haunt us.  Two incredibly ignorant, loud mouthed broads woke us at 3 am.  I called the front desk and they immediately sent someone to remove them.  Apparently, the pool closes at 11 pm.  So, how do people get in the pool area a 3 am?  Good question.

The rest of our stay was fairly nice.  Loved the nearby Starbucks.  All in all, a good stay.

Hotel staff is super friendly. Rooms are nice at a great price. The hotel was very hard to find. I had to go around the block 3 times to find it, there was a lot of construction nearby.

I'm a very loyal Marriott customer so I have high expectations for this chain. While this hotel was pretty nice, it did not meet my expectations.

I was given a room that they were aware had a major issue.  The air conditioning stays on in rooms ending in 08 or 09 constantly! There's no way to turn it off so it was freezing in there.  I went to the front desk to complain and they admitted to being awsre of the problem before they assigned the room. Who does that?  If you know there is an issue don't give out that room until the problem is fixed! I was able to change rooms which solved that problem but the new room was considerably smaller.  Also it was not as clean.  By then I was too tired to complain again and just wanted to go to sleep.  

Another issue, the Bistro has no lunch hours so you have to go outside the hotel for lunch.  The hotel is in the process of renovating so hopefully thst brings some good changes. The hotel does have some good attributes.

The good: awesome customer service,  prompt correction of issues, great location, lots of restaurants and entertainment nearby,  near the train and bus line, and a very quiet hotel.

I may give this hotel another chance if I'm in Houston again, but I was not very satisfied.

Pulled up, valet guys awesome. Check in took about 45 seconds even with a minor glitch AND the front desk Dood handling what could have been 35 problems. I didn't know because he took care of me and all that jazz with such fluidity I probably could have asked for an enema and neither felt it nor the .03 seconds it would have taken him. 2hours later, my parking concerns were answered (and correctly!) with a hint of humor and my over-the-top request of an umbrella was undertaken by at least 5 people who were simultaneously checking people in, providing enemas, and overseeing tea between Netanyahu and Obama. When I returned the umbrella, I'm pretty sure I received a facial. Upon arriving back from an evening out I was greeted by the late night gorilla. If you stay in hotels, you know what that means. If not: it's always a she. She's constantly being looked over for a promotion! But it wouldn't ever be because she's too dramatic or lazy. It's simply everyone else's fault! For a LNG, she wasn't bad, though. I look forward to lurching my way past her later as I take a final swig from my beer. It's not your fault! It's your hair bleach!

Nice room! Very friendly staff!! The valet parking is very nice. The parking price is a little steep but it's downtown so it's to be expected. The on site laundry room proved to be useful as one of our party had an accident. The beds are comfy!! And it's right on the light rail, super convenient!

I went there for a coworker who traveled from Louisiana for a small meeting, last night , The staff John, who is responsible for charging the valet parking fee, but not a valet parking guy,  the whole process , he was so rude and put all personal  attitude on the process,  just do not  give any guide and instruction make  a hard time to  me,  just make me  walked back from front desk to outside parking lot several times, I  asked him why he did not let me know to get my receipt here , he told me he is not responsible stop me walking outside , he could tell me I can get my receipt in front desk but instead he said nothing, I asked him why did not tell me i should pay my fee inside, but instead saying nothing left me outside waiting ,since i pass him my card, he even not accept it, so i have to put on the desk, then he just went away,
it is a very unprofessional service and too much personal attitude on the service , whole process without let me know anything no guide and instruct or talk, if I am not ask how much , do you have change , he just make me wait there and keep silence ,
but the lucky thing is  for  another valet parking guy is very nice guide me where to pay , how to get receipt , of course I did tip him good, but two different staff obvious show the different attitude and different  on service ,
I believe the hotel should more concern the staff who like John, need a professional training, there is the worst experience I had since I went so many hotels for my work .

The staff here is not very nice, except for the girl who checked us in who was very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff seemed apathetic to our stay; they seem to treat men who appear to be on business better than 2 young women, even though we pay the same amount. We are a platinum status at Marriott hotels, and we expect better treatment.
The breakfast selection is really slim, and the woman behind the counter is incredibly rude. She acted as if we were a huge burden even though we were just asking what options we had for breakfast because it was unclear what we could order (there was a breakfast menu on the wall but apparently you can't order from it?). She even yelled at us for not finishing our sandwich; the sandwich tasted like plastic.
In addition, we were placed in a room next to construction without being warned. We were woken up by drills. There seems to be a lot of discrepancy with keys because our room keys didn't work on the fitness center and hallway bathrooms because the technology is different. I feel like there is too much active renovating for there to be guests staying at the hotel.

My 3-night stay was pleasant, and I would recommend this place for business trips if you're not with a large group (the lobby area/meeting rooms are quite small).

Why is it perfect for a business trip? It's conveniently located next to a Starbucks, which means you can duck in to get your fix even during the shortest bathroom breaks.  Also the bathroom in the lobby smells like fresh baked vanilla cookies (I'm not kidding).  Never did I think I would be tempted to linger in a hotel restroom.

The staff was courteous, greeting everyone who comes within a 10 foot radius of the concierge desks. Truly refreshing for a girl from the Northeast.

Most of all, they had contact lens solution for $2.
