As a business traveler, I stay at a lot of hotels around the US.  My preference is Marriott brands.  My wife and I are staying here at th Courtyard Medical Center near Reliant Park for a get-away weekend in our home town without the kiddos.

As a newer Courtyard, this one has the great new Courtyard concept - very current, spacious and comfortable... from the public places to the guest rooms.  The staff is terrific, and the hotel is wonderfully maintained and feels like it opened yesterday.  The pool and outdoor lounge area are terrific for relaxing.

Highly recommend this hotel for anyone doing business in the area or looking for an in-town break.

I travel a lot for work and I know what I like and don't like about hotels.

Courtyard Marriott has everything that I love about a hotel.

    1. The staff is incredibly friendly and more importantly, they fulfill your requests in a timely fashion.
    2. The rooms are huge and considering the establishment itself is fairly new, the rooms do not have that "used up" feel.
    3. This is a true rarity for hotels in this price range: high ceilings.
    4. There is a Kroger supermarket half a block away, so if you're staying for a while, you can stock up on essentials (water, snacks, even some minor groceries)
    5. The cleaning staff knows what shit to clean up and what shit to leave alone.
    6. There is an in-house Starbucks (not supporting Starbucks, but if you're in a rush for coffee, there it is)
    7. The lobby is immaculate and very "lounge" like. Dim the lights and get a DJ and you'd think you're in a happenin' nightlife spot.
    8. The FAST WiFi is FREE. No "free for 24 hours" bullcrap. It's FREE.

If I ever stay in Houston again, i'm coming back without question.

If I had to be super nitpicky and complain about some things, here they are:

When running the shower water, the water comes out yellow for about one second. Let it run for a few seconds before getting in.

The towels and sheets have a bit more of that bleachy smell.

Would be four stars except no free breakfast or coffee. Also low water pressure. Staff is friendly and room is comfortable and clean. Lots of amenities like business center and underground parking.

Very clean and a great location.

We came in town for the Texans game (damn Vikings) and this hotel had a game day shuttle. We found all hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, the gym was clean and the cafe area was very nice. Hotel food is so so and the beer is expensive but thats standard.

    We will stat again

So this in all is a nice hotel facility. I have been staying here every six month for a duration of 1 -2weeks per visit.  I also bring my employees here - so I bring good business to this place.
But during my last stay ( October 2013) something happened I did not expect.
I left behind a laundry bag of clothes.  I realized my error when I returned home.  Immediately I called the hotel and to my astonishment they said that they did not find anything - seriously ???
And what made it even worst is that the following week business took me back to Houston and so I decided to stay at this hotel again, hoping to also speak to the manager about the situation and get my clothes back. Manager did not call me back so I stopped by the front desk to speak to him.  He pretty much was of absolutely no help not even any amount of comfort.
A few more calls were exchanged between the manager and me.
He told me he will forward the case to another person and that I will be contacted.

Well it is now January 2014 and No ONE has contacted me.

This whole incident is truly sad.  I am a rewards member of the Marriott chain and I have always trusted this outfit to be honorable.  And I do not want to suggest that Marriott is not honorable, however, it is in situations like this one that the true face of the beast comes out.

I am deeply disappointed with this Courtyard's management and staff.

I will NOT stay at this particular Courtyard again nor will I send anyone to them
It is about the principle !

Really good hotel with fantastic staff.

So the general hotel is pretty nice.  I'm a fan of Marriott in general, and especially Courtyard Marriotts because they have a bit more of the all-in-one hotel with their cafe or full-on restaurant.  This one has a cafe which has minimal hours (for example, weekdays is 6 AM - 9:30 AM for breakfast and 5 PM - 10 PM for dinner).  The lobby is very clean and maintained well.  No signs of wear that most hotels normally have.  It's not resort-fancy, but it's comfortable and modern.  The pool is the same, well-maintained and inviting.  The room I have (single king) is a step above almost all similar rooms with nice looking and modern decor, an armoire instead of a closet, a spacious shower with seat and a big shower head.

The hotel staff are great.  The front desk guy that worked late night when I checked in was professional, fast, super nice, and he even fixed a booking screw-up that was entirely my fault and with no stress at all.  I've stayed in hotels where the front desk are a bunch of apathetic turds and plenty where they just go through  the motions with a smile but you don't get anything more, but the staff here are genuinely helpful and strive to do whatever they can to get you what you need.

My only complaints so far are lots of the HD TV channels don't work (although I'm probably too dumb to figure it out) and the shower takes a few minutes to heat up...not bad at all as far as cons go.  I booked early with pre-paid so it was under $100/night, which is pretty cheap for what I got so it must be the off-season.  This place will definitely be one of the first places I look at booking in the future.

Overall great place to stay if you need to be close to Med Center. Fly into Hobby which is much closer than IAH. Clean and next to residence inn. Big lobby, fridge in room. Indoor parking below in garage. Good service overall.

I am a platnium with Marriott and live on the road. I stay at many Courtyards. I rate this a bit higher than most since close to hospitals I work with.

A great choice when in Houston but the prices were very high.  Compared to others, the cost was on par, but everything in Houston geared to tourists is outrageous because of the high bed and user taxes.  Clean comfortable room, decent lobby bar/cafe but high priced.

We stayed at this hotel due to the fact it was within walking distance to the Houston Stock Show & Rodeo. But the hotel provided transportation every hour to and from it. Upon checking in I noticed this place was pretty much new where the interior still smelled fresh. Out check in process was quick and easy and the staff were very friendly.

This place even has a small pool but too cold outside to swim. After we settled in we used their shuttle to get to the fairgrounds.  But had to walk back since they stopped their service at 7 pm.  When we returned we hung out at the bar.

The next day we woke up early and walked to the fairgrounds.  It is safe to walk so I would not worry about it. Our room was nice and had a pull out sofa bed.  Everything worked properly except the shower valve where it seemed to be either extreme hot or cold. It took some adjustment to get it right.

Check out was not a problem either and the staff again was very friendly and nice.

Besides the rodeo it is also a great place to stay at to see a Houston Texans game!

I stayed here for a week. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. They stay busy here.

There is outdoor and underground parking available. I parked my car and really did not have to drive anywhere because they have a courtesy shuttle that will pick up and drop off ANYWHERE in a 3 MILE radius of the hotel.

The rooms have a no DVD players so renting or bringing the kiddos favorite movies is pointless. However HBO had good movies on while we stayed there. There is a refrigerator but it is small and you will have to keep pushing the cool button to keep things cool (2 hour duration).

Love the bath tub! There is a seat where you can sit down and shave or just enjoy a good steam shower.

The bistro is a bit pricey however the marketplace sells beer and is cheaper than the what the bistro sells them for...weird. There is a microwave that guests can use in the marketplace area which is a plus for cutting costs. There is a Kroger in walking distance to buy food and toiletries.

Oh ya my other half wants me to include that the hotel puts out cookies and juice daily in the lobby area for guests mid morning. So get there because they go fast!

Great hotel and I will recommend and be back!

I stay at hotels majority of my time. And there's one thing that drives me crazy at a lot of these hotels, the maid cleans the bath and then leaves the drain plug pushed down so that you must touch that nasty filthy plug that everybody's funky body filth has touched to open it. "I don't want to touch that and I'm sure no one else does! How hard is it that I don't have to touch this damn thing every time I take a shower?!!!!"

This is an excellent place to stay in Houston clean quiet and comfortable. All you could ask for and then some. I will make this my first choice when I go to Houston from now on. I have stayed at several places in Houston and none have met the level the level of comfort that this one provides. Rooms are spotless and very homelike, worth your money.

I'm here for work. Only stayed one night. The room was clean and I even got a room upgrade. I've never been to a bad Courtyard. This one definitely meets the standard. I really liked the towel elephant. Very cute & nice touch.

Pros:  I hate the commute from Katy into the medical center. When I expect back to back long work days, I book a hotel near work. This is the best one I've stayed in this area in this price range. It's new, I like the decor, the bed is comfortable, and there's plenty of parking.

Cons: the shower has really low water pressure. The cafe doesn't open till 7am and I start work at 630am. The employees are incredibly inefficient. Like all the other hotels in the area, I hate the neighborhood and the other clients are frightening. They always smell bad and look one step above homeless.

Horrible!  Quoted $99/ night for the week.  Once my Sister who spent the last two days traveling across the country to go to MD Anderson for her cancer got to Houston,  Marriott told her that only the first night was $99.  The rest of the nights will cost $240.  How can they get away with this?

I was here for a few doctor's appointments and surgery. We left my wheelchair at the front desk while we went to a brief post op visit and when we got back it was a different wheelchair and it was broken. I was a bit disappointed by that, hence the four stars. Other than that this hotel is very nice, the people working are very kind and helpful, the cookies in the lobby are awesome if you can get one before they're all gone haha! The food at their little bistro is great, I had the spicy chicken and spinach flatbread for dinner one night and the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. Today, however in the hall another guest was talking too loud and woke me from my nap but that isn't a problem with the hotel, just one rude guest. Despite these two minor issues, this is a fantastic hotel and I recommend it to anyone.

I stayed here on business recently and was very happy.  My room was very clean and the front desk service was really friendly and accommodating.

I'm not in Texas very often, but would not hesitate to return here or recommend this hotel.  Especially for the price.  Also worth mentioning is that they offer a free shuttle that will take you anywhere 3 miles from the hotel.  Nice touch!
