If your looking for a place to hold a large number of guest your bringing in from out of town, don't look here. I had such a bad experience, i wish to have taken business elsewhere. First off i reserved a block of rooms for my wedding party. my guests were calling me to tell me that when they called to ask for something as simple as changing there room from a king size bed to a double bed, the answer was that "they were sold out". another guest told me that when they tried to reserve their room with the group rate, guess what the answer was to that? "were sold out but we can offer you the room for $50 more than the group rate offered". Why couldn't they have been more accommodating to my guests. I tried calling the sales office to get to the bottom of all this and it took 3 calls the first day and i spoke to someone who i left a message with, that said they would give her the note saying this was my "second attempt this afternoon." Well i never received a call back. I then called back a the next day and kept getting a voice mail. so i called the front desk and asked to speak to someone that i can actually talk to, that would be able to help me... I spoke to someone and she was very nice and helped me extend our room block over the weekend and added a few more rooms so that n one would have to experience the "were sold out" line. After that i decided that the groom and I stay there for our honey moon night.. they said they would offer me an early check in so that i can get dressed there before my wedding, which i thought was nice and convenient. well  that morning my mom and i checked in got our key and it was already filled with another bridal party. so we call downstairs because at this point the groom is also in the hotel and we were hoping not to run into each other that morning so i was hiding down one of the halls. My mother was quite upset, it being nothing was going right at that hotel and it put us under stress. the hair and make-up crew was there but we were still waiting for a new room change, and the front desk said " well we have 3 weddings thats why" i still don't think that is any excuse to mess up everything so badly.. so the front desk tells us our new room, but they said it wasn't clean yet, turned out all it needed were towels, we never got our key to our room so the maid let us in, since she was in contact with the front desk. It was a complete mess. so after all that, we had a bottle of wine in our room that we bought ourselves, i called downstairs to see if they had a cork screw to open it, and they tell me i have to go downstairs to open it. ok and next morning i call down for room service and they tell me that it was not included in our package, that the package we got was a free buffet breakfast, Now why in the hell would we want to go downstairs and eat, its the morning after our wedding, we wanted something a little more Romantic like "breakfast in bed".  so fine we order off the menu and a few minutes later we get a plain waffle and two giant stale croissants. butter and syrup in plastic packaging, so not expensive hotel menu quality, we were missing our eggs and all that cream and fresh strawberries that the menu describes... so i call downstairs again asking where the rest of our food was and why it wasnt what is described in the menu. and the answer for that was "oh he is new". i was increasingly frustrated with everyones lack of competence. this Hotel sucks. oh and i forgot to mention that its right by the highway, all my guests complained that they were awakened by the early morning traffic...

Ok, so its not actually near the Galleria, maybe 4 miles away, scenically nestled beside the freeway. The public spaces and rooms were ok, but there were some definite needs to improve, especially around service. Two out of three elevators were actually frightening when they were in service.One day we had no washcloths. No courtesy coffee or drinks most of the time. Worst was departure day, when I was cattle-shooted into a very overpriced airport limo after discovering the advertised SuperShuttle did not exist and requesting a taxi. Its a "pass". I feel the room was overpriced at $165-ish per night and would not go back.

Not bad. I have no problems with Crowne Plaza chains. Our toiletries were great. Love getting little samples of special shampoo/conditioners.  Our room seemed a little cramped for two queen sized beds and we had no microwave =(
lobby area looked nice. oh and their lemonade is yummy =)

I feel the need to review again, because I am back for a second round!  I initially booked an apartment through AirBnB.com but for some unforseen circumstances (a filthy mattress pad and little stains of blood droplets on the bedskirt...bed bugs, perhaps?!) led me to flee to a place that I knew was safe and clean; the Crowne Plaza on Katy Fwy!  I spent about two weeks here and every day I came home to a CLEAN room with fresh sheets and towels!  

Free WiFi, a bottle of water and restock on coffee supplies daily and a mini fridge.  They could use more TV stations in my opinion, but whatever.  Close to I-10, so easy access to pretty much anywhere in the city, although you will probably do a few loopty loops to get from A to B given it's slightly awkward location.  The owner is pretty funny - I was in the elevator with him (not knowing he was the owner) and he asked how my room was, so I responded "how is your room?"  To which I was informed he owned the joint.  Entertaining.  

Clean, clean and more clean.  A+ from this business traveler!

I am putting Crowne Plaza on blast! I am a director of an eSports team and I booked my team with this establishment for 3 rooms. 10 days before this upcoming  tournament (that is being held AT Crowne Plaza!), 2 of my players informed me that they can no longer attend the tournament due to unforeseen circumstances. I called Crowne to cancel 1 of the 3 rooms (7 days in advance!) because I would not have enough people to fill them.

I was then told that they have a non-refundable, full payment in advance policy which is absolutely ludicrous!!! This is an absolutely unheard of practice and a dirty, scumbag policy. I cannot think of a hotel, or even motel that does this!

Because of this, I am taking an unnecessary loss of $529.97.  

If you plan on staying here, I hope that you don't get sick, or some of your friends can't make it, or your business meetings get canceled; because you will already be stuck with the bill with no chance to cancel. I will never be booking my team with Crowne Plaza again!

I will be sure to hunt out every forum and ratings guide to warn future customers of this ridiculous policy and money trap! Do not encourage this kind of crap by booking your rooms here! Stay away!

The rooms facing the freeway are pretty loud. You'll hear the highway traffic all night if you're a light sleeper. Self parking was small and full so we were forced to valet. Valet attendant took 4 tries to find my car because of an error from the previous night's valet attendant. Not cool.

This place was terrible from start to finish!  We specifically choose this hotel because it seemed like a good location near food and shopping.   Also we were wanting a place where we could relax in a hot tub while the kids played in the pool. We were told the hotel had both but it only has an outside pool which was too cold to swim in February and no hot tub.  The people at the front desk said we could then use LAFitness across the street which had a pool and hot tub. The kids were excited to go so we took them to LAFitness in the morning, but the front desk people at fitness said only kids ages 14 and up were allowed in the pool. Normally when someone says they have kids, don't people generally envision children younger than age 14? It didn't make any sense to why we were sent over there. To top it off no one could sleep because the beds were so uncomfortable.  So at 3 am I went downstairs to ask if there were different beds in different rooms. The answer was "no" and that the beds were custom made for the hotel. Custom? Custom crap! It was just a joke. No extra pillows or bedding was brought up at 3 am even though it was requested. The staff was condescending and sounded like a broken record of "I'm sorry you are having a bad stay." While doing nothing to solve the problem.  Thanks a lot from a working mom who saves up hotel points for a rare time away from home for one night.

Service: Can be average depending on what you do or what you order. Me and my girlfriend ordered dinner the first night we were here and the food was amazing as well as the desert. It can be on the pricey end depending on what you order as well as the service.

Rooms: Our room had an un-easy smell of urine to it. I kind of dismissed this once we put the air on. Although walking into a room on your first night there and getting hit with the smell of urine is not the best first impression.

Facility: This place has an out door pool, in door work out room which is okay for the average Joe although I would recommend the LA Fitness across the street if you will be staying a while unless all you do is cardio,this place is full of elevators so don't worry about stairs, it has a bar downstairs to get your drink on, has a restaurant, a small store such as drinks and snacks, a shoe polish machine, ATM, large lobby, many business meeting rooms, parking lot is easy to access and exit as well as always available parking, there is also valet parking. This place is also right next to the highway although I could barely hear anything while staying here when it came to traffic.

I would stay here again in the future I just advise some people to keep an eye on the bank account as the food can add up over time if you stay here a while!

I would stay here again. Nice lobby, great designed rooms with big modern bathroom. Staff was always nice and knew where to direct you around town. I give it two snaps up.

Only thing to watch for is the elevators. One is large, and two are small. Veeeeery small. 4 adults and two bags fill the small ones. Plan for this in the morning when many are leaving the hotel at once.

My friend and I recently stayed at this hotel on 8/31/14.  I was initially impressed with the hotel.  The check-in was quick and easy.  It was located right off the freeway.  The hotel room upon arrival was nice, spacious and clean...UNTIL...my friend used the bathroom and discovered a dead roach in the bathroom.  OMG!  I immediately called the front desk and informed them of my discovery.  The manager came to inspect the situation.  He sent the housekeeper to come clean and mop the bathroom.  I let the manager know that I was not satisfied with the service provided and wanted another room.  However, the hotel was fully booked due to a huge college football event being hosted in Houston.  The manager eventually sent some one to spray within the hotel room and offered us two free appetizers and two free alcoholic beverages.  

I feel that we should have been compensated better, pesticide was sprayed within our hotel room, which is toxic, we should have been given another room.  However, since a vacant room was not available, we should have been given a discount or a free nights stay...something a long those lines.  Ultimately, had it not been for the roach, I would have given the hotel 5 stars.  Overall, it was clean, nice, the food was delicious, the overall customer service minus the roach incident was great!

I've recently become somewhat addicted to using the "Hotel Tonight" app on the iPhone to stay at and review different hotels. It's much more fun to me than staying in the same chain all the time...I guess it appeals to my constant sense of adventure.

This time, I was traveling to Houston to visit my cousin and needed a hotel for the night. So I dialed up the Hotel Tonight app. That's how I wound up staying at the Crowne Plaza.

When I arrived, I was immediately worried due to the freeway location. However, it turns out that they installed plenty of sound-proofing, so it wasn't much of a going concern after I got to the room.

Parking: They had the option of valet or self-park, and self-park wasn't a bad option.

Common Areas: Brand new, very clean. Hotel bar was nice and neat.

Room: Also spotless. Extremely neat. Free (fast) wifi.

Bathroom: Super clean and pretty too. Water was hot quickly (something I notice particularly).

Rate: $58 - also excellent.

Location: It's actually several miles from the Galleria, but technically I suppose it could be a Galleria hotel.

Overall it was an excellent experience at a great rate. I would definitely stay here again.

I recently stayed here while vacationing in Houston and from the outside the hotel looked very nice. The check in was a breeze, but when arriving at the room, my friend and I noticed as soon as we walked in the door, that there was a wet smell...like mildew...mixed with dog. We immediately called down to the front desk and had our rooms changed. We were moved to a handicap room and still there was pretty much the same smell just a little lighter. We deeply considered changing hotels, but knew the hassle we went through trying to get a room and their was an alumni event going on in the area. The staff overall were nice and the hotel is in a great location. They definitey had a water problem in the hotel at some point and its in the carpet, so for that reason alone I won't stay at this hotel again.

This is a review of their Banquet Facilities. We came here for my husbands company Christmas Party & really had a good time. The room was set up very nice & the food definitely exceeded our expectations. We got here early so parking was easy breezy as we got a spot on the surface lot & did not need to valet or use the garage.

It's very modern on the inside.
The hotel is clean, the room was clean and the citrus fruit infused water at the front was refreshing.

I booked through Hotwire so they gave me a queen double and told me they couldn't give me a King because they were sold out. Well, according to HotelTonight, that's a flat out lie. I didn't make an issue of it. They gave me a late check-out upon request so I walked away happy.

I don't agree that this is "Galleria Area" though. Maybe to an unknowing tourist, but not a gal like me who stays in Galleria area hotels quite often.

We had sort of an emergency when we found out the person we're staying with in Houston just recently got a cute kitten, a typhoon of allergy symptoms ensued. It was already evening and we had to find a hotel quick before plans later on that night. We were turned away by Holiday Inn due to influx of reservations caused by the Rodeo in town apparently. We headed down the street and gave Crowne Plaza a try and they were able to accomodate us and even get us a bigger and better room than what we saw online, and for the same price.
Staff is very friendly. I called to see if they had honey for the tea that we prepared in the room and less than a minute later someone from the restaurant came up with a ramikin of honey and some sliced lemon wedges. Attention to detail is very much appreciated. The room is very clean, no disturbing stains or scary scuff marks on furniture. Even though this hotel is located right by the freeway (which makes it convenient for us) I didn't hear a single car from our bedroom on the second floor.
Warning! Breakfast is only free if you have the voucher, we made the mistake of assuming the breakfast buffet was free and we ended up paying $30. That having been said, I think it would be a great free buffet, they even have rasins and flax seed for your oatmeal or greek yogurt.
So far we're having a delightful stay. I'll probably update the review after we check out for a more complete synopsis.

This hotel was very clean, and that's pretty much the most important parameter for hotels in my opinion as I'm germ/bedbug threat intolerant. It isn't,  however,  *really* in the galleria area, even though it is close. You still need a car to get on the highway to get there.

Upon check in I was given a room right by the elevator and I requested a different one. The clerk was very polite and understanding. Our room was changed to another farther down the hall. The windows aren't soundproof so if you are facing the highway you will hear cars and trucks.  It isn't terrible and if you have the TV on you can barely tell unless you are sensitive.

The blanket on the bed wasn't very warm, but the AC is adjustable.
The coffee in the coffee maker was mudwatery, but most hotel room coffees are less than Italian espresso.

We ordered room service, it was timely. Club sandwhich and fries were tasty. The personal pizza was just regular hotel pizza.

The valet might park your car in, they lot attendants don't stay outside. We had to look for an employee to move a car so we could leave upon check out, which took some time, but everyone was very nice and professional.

Nice stay.

I had a good stay at this hotel. The lobby and restaurant area are nice and clean, and the hotel staff was excellent.

My room was also clean with the only issue being the loose shower fixture. Not a big deal, but felt out of place with the quality of the rest of the hotel. I stayed in a room that shared a wall with the fitness center, which I thought was going to be a noisy disaster. I was pleasantly surprised that the workout noise didn't come through the wall.

As far as the fitness center goes, it is pretty standard hotel stuff: a couple treadmills and bikes with a cable machine for weights. Nothing special in this area.
