I am two hundred fresh tomato slices into my lunch time buffet frequent flyer program at the Doubletree.  So how is it that self-proclaimed salad bars can't match a buffet at an airport hotel?  Go figure.  Anways, the restaurant itself is clean, and quiet considering all the happy folks who have found my little secret.  I have already told eleven people, twelve if you count all the readers here at Yelp.com .  Service is great, usually only requiring 150 seconds to get your drink order and experience that 4 seconds of silence where someone finally says "shall we have a look at the buffet?'.  Where the white plates are clean with no spots, no adherent parsley leaf, and no chips along the edge.  It all begins with the tomatoes.  First up, the fresh sliced tomatoes with mozzarella, then the Origami (sorta) tomatoes, then to the 1/4" thick sliced tomatoes, then to the fresh tomato wedges, all to be mixed with the last best iceburg-based greens, no California weeds, leaves, and twigs here.  This delicious base can be adorned with a number of attachments that cover any of the ongoing medical research findings for a long life.  I breeze right past those to the walnuts and dressing, sprint past the boxed pie, back to my prime Texas unsweetened ice tea that never sees the bottom of the glass thanks to the hard work of all the future one percenters who find their way to serve me with a smile.  In a town where most people map their lives with Tex-Mex diners, this buffet is your seventh lunch.

Pretty standard business-stay hotel. Nice bar.   Miss it, as I am staying at the Sheraton across the street. Only thing good about the Sheraton is my clove room faces the runway. So every morning I enjoy watching airplanes land and take off....... taking some photos......  Next time I'd choose DoubleTree.

2 free  bottled waters(my drink), free cookie(my dinner), free internet, free parking, easy, straight driving from IAH,$169.00 per night (when even Hampton inn was $150), my room at top floor appears to be renovated, quite, and friendly staff..

So, why 3.5 stars? When I walked into the room at 11:00pm, I thought I was entering a tomb. Window was positioned to the side, almost invisible, creating a depressing atmosphere. Bed was OK (better than say, fairfield inn)..Ah, shower was wimpy, not good.  I like airport hotel for 24 hour room service, but not on this location. Stops @11ish, I think. No good.

I am sure there is a better room than that but no need to fuss for a day stay. Perhaps next time.

Although I never got my warm cookie :( everything else made up for it. We only had the pleasure of staying here for one night but it was great. The bed was amazing and by far the closest to my double pillow top at home I have ever slept in. The nice flat screen tv was large and set up directly in front of the bed for some nice relaxing after filling up on way too much BBQ - exactly what I did. The shower and bathroom were nicely furnished with the most important part to me being shower pressure and it was perfect.

Other high points were the in-room coffee by Wolfy Puck with to go cups and a nice desk to work at if you so need. The pool looked nice even though we were so busy I didn't get a chance to jump in. Also there was a business center that you could use to check your email if your so inclined - but it way too crowded to use when I tried.

Overall it was a great short but sweet one night stay and I will return to a Doubletree if I get a chance in the future. But if I don't get my warm cookie next time there will be hell to pay!!!

When a hotel gives you warm chocolate chip cookies for free, how can you not stay there?

Even more so when they give you a room with a huge conference table in it!!! Our last night in town required we stay much closer to the airport than we had been, so we moved to the Doubletree, which is probably a five minute drive to the terminals. The person helping us at check in, Ms. Barbara Rose, was unbelievable when I later called to ask if there was a conference room that four of us could use in the afternoon to get some work done. She called me back to ask me if I wouldn't mind a hotel room that served as a conference suite. I asked her what exactly she meant by that, and she explained that they had a conference table in some of the rooms with different seating capacities. I said that a conference suite would be fine, and was promptly upgraded to room 618. The table was so big I could have held the upcoming Friday morning meeting in there (see attached pictures)! There was also a nice sitting area with a flat screen TV, a hallway area where the coffee machine was located, a nice sized bathroom and a great bed in the bedroom. I received foam pillows on request and they were so much more comfortable than the down feather pillows.

Two things that are on my list of criteria for me to stay at a hotel include free wireless Internet and free parking for guests. The Doubletree meets them both and then some! Can't comment on either the gym or the continental breakfast offered--not enough time spent in the hotel to observe/experience.

Happy travels!

For the purposes that I needed this hotel, it worked out famously. I was two minutes (literally) from the airport, had free wi-fi and a good looking bathroom/shower. :)

For a "working" hotel, it was great - always appreciate the fact that a coffee maker is provided that includes "to-go" cups and covers and gives you an assortment of coffees and teas.

Next time I'm in Houston, I'm guessing I wouldn't stay RIGHT near the airport; for my business trip this time, it was key!

My stay here was a relatively short one - I flew into Houston, landed at about 7:30 p.m. and stayed at this hotel overnight before flying out again early the next morning.

It appears this hotel has been newly renovated and they were able to make it look classy without being gaudy. When you enter and approach the front desk, directly adjacent is a 2 storey high lounge/seating area. There's also a Starbucks adjacent to the lobby as well as a decently stocked gift shop/travel store. Further past the Starbucks is a sports bar/grill with wooden floors that look like they've been there forever, a large bar and 3 pool tables with "Budweiser" lights above them.

The rooms themselves are well appointed, classy and modern looking with lots of teals, dark woods and textured beige wall paper. Countertops in the bathroom, on the TV desk and the wall surrounding the tub are all cream colored granite. In the rooms you'll find a huge writing desk and comfy wheeled office chair (which was perfect for my needs on this night as I spent a few hours working and catching up on e-mails), a 27" flatscreen TV with wireless keyboard and mouse for surfing the internet and writing e-mails through the TV, a small refrigerator and a coffee maker with Wolfgang Puck gourmet coffees and condiment sets and Numi organic teas. In the bathrooms they've supplied Neutrogena personal care products, and they also provide a few complimentary bottles of water so you don't need to risk getting the dreaded "travelers diarrhea" from drinking tap water. The trash cans in the rooms and bathrooms have something I've not come across before - 1/2 the liner is brown for trash, the other 1/2 the liner is green for recyclables. Good to see!

This hotel has a pool/hot tub (which felt more like bath water than a true hot tub) which is located in a center courtyard that's filled with lots of trees, foliage and pathways, a 24 hour fitness center (5 aerobic machines, 2 weight benches and a weight machine), 2 coin operated clothes washers and free wireless internet in the lobby (they also have wireless available in the rooms for $12 / night).

The only thing I found slightly irritating is that the fan on the A/C unit in the room stays on constantly, so your choices are to switch off the A/C so the noise goes away but you overheat, or leave the A/C on so you're cool but you need to put up with the fan noise all night.

The best part about the stay here? Upon check in, you get a complimentary fresh warm cookie from the front desk staff! Yes!!

After I wrote my review about my experience with the coupon, the Social Catering Manager of the hotel contacted me and explained that she had just set up the coupon on Yelp and the staff were not yet told. So she's sending me some of their awesome cookies to make up for the confusion.

Also, I didn't have time to try much because we had to catch a plane to Nicaragua, but the breakfast spread looks great. It was a large buffet with stacks of pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and a lot of other stuff. It all looked very good.

A little bribe with cookies goes a long way.

I really enjoyed my stay at the DoubleTree.

The fitness room is large for a hotel and the swimming pool is quite nice. The hot tub was a nice touch too. The room was clean and nice and my wi-fi was comped because I stayed in a nice room. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan on staying near this area.

The only small downfall was the constant airplanes that flew over my hotel. The noise could be heard but didn't bother me too much.

Stayed here recently while attending a conference at the hotel. I've stayed at plenty of Doubletree Hotels in my day and this one is pretty standard. Rooms are slightly bigger than your average hotel room - the oversize chair and ottoman add an extra area for lounging. You get a cookie when you check in (or whenever you ask the front desk). The breakfast buffet and internet is free if you are a Diamond HHonors guest.

The meeting facilities were adequate, as was the hotel catering for lunch. It was a nice day so we were able to eat lunch outside - it was pretty fabulous out there so that was a nice touch.

I appreciated that they have a coin washer/dryer since I like to go home with clean clothes. My only complaint was that the items in the hotel shop were ridiculously overpriced - I was sick and wanted cough syrup and it was $12.99! The laundry detergent which sells for $1 at all other Hiltons was $2.25. It pissed me off enough to get in the car and go to Super Target to get what I needed when normally I would just go with convenience.

Other things to know - the hotel bar is open until midnight. They offer free shuttle service to/from IAH that leaves every 30 minutes.

And speaking of the shuttle, I bumped this review from 3 to 4 stars because their staff was super awesome about letting us hire their shuttle out to take a large group of people to and from Pappasitos for dinner. That kind of service is what I expect as a Diamond member and I am always happy to report when a place gets it right.

I love Doubletree; I'm not a fan of this one.

The staff was super-friendly, which made for a great start. The room, however, was something entirely different.

The room was rather warm and humid upon entry. It turned out the A/C had been turned off. After turning it back on, I took off my shoes and noticed the carpet felt damp in places.

I took a quick nap, and woke up in my own sweat. The AC had been running, but it never cooled. Off for a quick shower --where I saw mold around the caulking lines of the tub -- and I took off to see some friends.

Hours later I returned and the room had cooled a tiny bit, but the room felt ridiculously damp. The bed felt damp, the pillows felt damp --  I got the sensation that I shouldn't put paper down anywhere or it would start to curl.

Piece de resistance: The toilet barely flushed. It took about 5 flushes to... um... do the job.

I want to love this location, because it's terribly convenient and part of a great chain. But based on this room, I just can't.

P.S. $11 for wifi. It wasn't terribly slow, but when you have multiple Internet-capable devices (as most business travelers do), that's kind of a bad business model and tremendously inconvenient and expensive.

Passing through Houston on our way to Costa Rica.  We were hoping for a good place to have a meal or two on our 18 hour layover.

We had requested a King, but they had us with Two small beds.  When I asked if a King was available, they 'upgraded' us.  Our 'Room' was a 'meeting room' with a 30 foot long conference table and countless leather chairs, attached was a bathroom, and a stinky bedroom shoved in the back.  The place smelled like mold, and I was unable to turn off the AC. Not much of an upgrade.

The next morning, I checked in on yelp and received a Yelp Coupon for 'free breakfast'.
"Cool!" I thought, "This will make up for the stinky room."  When I showed the Yelp coupon to the front-desk, they were confused.  They didn't know what it was. I spent 5 min standing there as they tried to decide who to call, or what to do.  Finally the 'assistant manager' came out and said 'Sorry, you only get free breakfast if you paid full price for the room." (I had booked on Expedia)

So they denied the coupon (which had no such restrictions or requirements).  So Guess what Doubletree. . .You get a two star review at the expense of a $10 breakfast.

Either get your coupons right, or fix your ideas customer service.

I will stay one positive thing; Their airport shuttle drivers are GREAT!  These guys are hilarious, friendly, and very happy.  They know customer service!!  My advice, get these guys working the front desk, and have the grumpy girls at the desk driving the vans.

Hotel portion was adequate other than mold on the shower curtain and peeling paint/wallpaper.  Derrick's Saloon, which is what passes for their restaurant, was beyond horrible.  Server was not just rude but belligerent.  Took 15 min to get water, 20 min to get cocktail, and didn't get food order placed until we finally asked for a different server.  Food was mediocre to inedible.  Just looking for a quick bite after a long day of travel.  Instead was lucky not to get food poisoning.  Run don't walk!

Worst, most indifferent and poorly trained staff ever. Noisy party hotel. They don't care if you get a good nights sleep. The staff isn't empowered to do anything about your issues and they interrupt you before you can express them anyway.

All in all a great place to stay.  From my visit on 5/23/14 I found the staff friendly, the rooms clean, the beds comfy, and the bar/saloon lively.  The airport shuttle seemed to take much longer than needed, and when I went to use a Yelp promo, it took me getting to the GM to get resolution.  The breakfast restaurant was clean, a little slow, but the staff seem to have plenty of heart.  Pool area is lush and tranquil.  Plus you're close to IAH, walking distance to fast food and a couple dive drinking bars.

I has a reservation at this hotel and when I arrived, was told they no longer had my room. Being a Hilton Diamond member for 10+ years and already qualified as Diamond for the next year, I was totally floored. I live in the hilton hotels being a business traveler. How disrespectful being told I did not have a room. The Sheraton across the street is very, very nice and the rooms are so much better than any doubletree I've ever stayed at. I recommend not staying at this hotel as you may get there and not have a room, even with a confirmation number.
Update: 14May14, well, spoke to Manager who gave a different story why they have away my room than the front desk manager gave to my corp travel agent. Did receive cookies, money for 'inconvenient' interruption. Still not trusting of hotel.

Dirty out dated rooms with a coffee maker that didn't work and a shower that didn't work. The carpets smelled like urine. It was So bad that we had to check out early.

The restaurant was horrible,  both the service, cocktails  and the  food. THE MOST DISGUSTING margaritas I have ever tasted,  one sip and I had to send it back...

AMYWHERE but here...
