I do not like Houston.
The lack of zoning & planning here makes for visibly un exciting areas.
The view out the window here at HIE is no exception.
A boring concrete highway out your window makes for a visibly boring stay.
Yes they had cookies.
Yes they had apples
Yes coffee always available in the lobby.
Yes they have USA Today...even the local Houston paper the Chronicle.
A some very nice magazines in the lobby for you to borrow/read.
Never get a feel for Houston....................

I only spent one night/morning in this particular Holiday Inn Express and overall, I was pleased. The suite I got was nice. They had a good selection of breakfast items that they refilled often. The workout room (a treadmill, elliptical, and stairmaster) was quaint but clean. The only thing keeping me from giving them five stars was the noise level. Whenever I travel, I bring a mini fan to muffle any extra noise at night. But that plus the loud air conditioner couldn't muffle the banging noises coming from the floor above me. While the only noises only happened periodically, they lasted all night.

It is impossible to sleep in the rooms on the north side of the hotel facing I-10. You will hear cars buzzing by at 70 mph all night, and once traffic increases at 5 am, it is impossible to sleep.
The staff was kind enough to move me to the south side of the hotel, where I had peace and quiet, but this only happened after I could no longer sleep at around 5 am.
This is a terrible location for a hotel. They need to soundproof their walls and windows. Be warned!

The hotel has everything that you need. It is by the freeway and about 10 mins from downtown so you can always just pack up and go. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The rooms and hallways are clean. Breakfast is included and the wifi is complimentary. :)

We enjoyed our stay here once again. This is the third time we have stayed at this location.
It is close to Memorial City Mall & The Galleria. The indoor pool is clean & a nice size. The hot tub is nice too. We enjoyed the free breakfast- pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, biscuits & gravy, warm cinnamon rolls, cereal, muffins, toast, bagels, apples, bananas, juice, chocolate milk & regular milk & yogurt. Coffee 24/7.Nice variety. The suites is extra large having a full size frig, microwave in kitchen area. Table with 4 chairs, recliner, pull out sofa, 2 flat screen tvs,, 2 queen beds, desk, chair & ottoman, closet, large bathroom, & lots of plug ins for phones. The staff was outstanding. Free rollaway, but request them before you arrive. Breakfast ends at 10:30 am. The only thing I can say negative is it could use a fresh coat of paint & touching up a few dings on walls, but nothing major. Suite is located next to the elevator, but is well worth it although you may hear the elevator sometimes. Downstairs was not as cold as the room, but the pool is heated & close to the front desk. Overall we loved it & loved the price!

We called ahead in search of a room after traveling about 5-6 hours and the front desk was extremely helpful! They quoted everything over the phone and the hotel is pet-friendly. We were on the 7th floor (top, I believe) and it was pretty quiet. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was ok...it was, after all, free! They had bagels, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, milk, fruit, toast and pancakes. I would stay there again.

This is a nice hotel for a Holiday Inn Property I agree the highway noise is ridiculous but a upper floor suite makes a big difference. I've stay here many times because of the location. The staff is always friendly and the hotel is clean. They always thank you if you are a priority club member and give you a bag full of goodies. This may sound silly but I would of given them another star if the coffee was better it's really bad no matter what you do to it. Luckily there are plenty of Starbucks around. Switch Coffee suppliers and earn the 4th Star :)

When I first walked in at about 930 pm there was a sign on the front desk that said the clerk had stepped away and he'll be right with you. I had a hand full of food and bags and after waiting and waiting the guy finally walks in from outside. WACK. When I finally got into the room I didn't think it was nice at all. Out dated furniture and drapes, the ceiling had cracks, the shower head was so old and the tub was filling up like a bath when I was taking my shower.
I don't ever have to come back to this location. I usually enjoy Holiday Inn Express but this was a let down.

Very convenient location. Easy access to 10 and 610.
I did not receive any goodie bag or bottle of water upon check in, and I'm a Gold member. I didn't even think about it until later :(
The beds and bedding are old. The blankets are thin and not very cozy. However, the shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The bathroom lighting was better than most hotels (for applying makeup). Ladies know the importance of good, bright, even lighting!
My room on the 4th floor facing 10 was a tad loud at times but not obscene. My window air unit did not detect the temp accurately and never turned off regardless of how hot or cold I set it to. Because of that, I couldn't hear the traffic outside. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad.
The workout room was okay- small but ok. It was very awkward to jog on the treadmill with the window facing the lobby. Essentially anyone walking into the hotel can see you struggle.
The "business center" is a computer in the lobby. Again, anybody walking into the hotel can see your back as you're printing stuff. The computer was not equipped with Adobe Acrobat- essential for any real business work. Also, I was let down that the printer could not print double sided.
Staff was all great, but for the price I'd rather stay at Crowne Plaza next door.

Great Hotel! Clean hotel, friendly staff, and very handy indoor heated pool if you have kudos with ya. They had the rooms I wanted without any fuss. Morning free breakfasts were very good and ample amount for our hungry family. Overall very very satisfied with this hotel for our first family vacay.
