Hotel was great.  Room was clean.  Staff were helpful.  Location is close to Reliant Stadium.  Breakfast was good and hit the spot.  Would stay here again.  Not much better in this area.

Good place for a conference or meeting. Helpful staff, food places nearby.

Internet was really bad. The a/c was too loud and the ice machine maker was louder than a train coming thru.  Very uncomfortable bed. I was better off at a Hampton inn.

The facility is small and ideal for quick trips to Houston. I prefer this location over the Holiday Inn on Kirby. The rooms are clean and spacious. No pool.

I love this little hotel, it is clean, cheap and the beds are comfy. The free breakfast is a hit or miss though. We normally go to T. Arandas for breakfast anyway!

I have to say that I have become a fan of Holiday Inn Express hotels. Both that I have stayed at recently have been very nice. This one is very nice as well. I'm going to list things as pros and cons because even as good as this place is, every hotel can improve.

Pros (Many more of these than cons as you will see)
    Spacious room
    Fridge / Microwave in room
    Comfortable bed / pillows
Clean room and restocked / cleaned daily
    Very cold, quiet A/C
Huge HD Big Screen flat panel TV
DIRECTV!!! This is a huge plus. There are literally over 100 channels including extra sports channels. This made me very happy.
    Friendly and helpful staff
Free Breakfast, and it is actually pretty good. Probably the best Holiday Inn Express breakfast I've had.
Free wireless / wired internet and it works pretty well. I've had faster in other hotels but I've also had a whole lot worse.

Cons (okay, there are a few)
Ice machine is on the first floor at the end of the hall rather than having one on each floor as the signs state.
Coke machine and snack machine are on 2nd floor instead of all floors

I've stayed at a few hotels in the area around Reliant and this is now my favorite one. I will be staying here again.

Edit 12/10/14: I get very irritated when hotels try to dictate what I can look at on the internet. There is a news site that occasionally posts a picture of a woman in a bikini or something along those lines. Think Maxim magazine but tamer. It is called Elite Daily. This hotel has a internet filter that doesn't allow you to visit websites they don't like. I'm an adult, I don't need a hotel dictating what I can look at on the internet.

Also, the hotel responded to my original review stating the vending\ice signage had been fixed. This is not true as it still is inaccurate.

The tv in our room was huge for hotel TVs. Not a bad area. Breakfast was the same as every other holiday inn. The entry way is beautiful, Best I've seen at a holiday inn. Good price we got a Saturday night for $105.

I booked online and stayed here at the suggestion of a local friend for four nights leading up to the Fourth.  Check-in was easy and accurate and my room on the 3rd floor was clean, orderly, and everything worked.
The continental breakfast was local oriented to the food ( biscuits, gravy, some egg thing, a pancake machine) plus the usual stuff. The brand of coffee at this hotel was good compared to others that have you looking for the first Starbucks.
The cookies in the lobby were a tasty treat before going up every evening.
The neighborhood and location of shopping is good, and it is a short drive to the areas that have the better restaurants to eat at.

All in all, nothing bad to report. It was what you should expect for a hotel stay for the price..

I am very conflicted about this hotel. There are equal number of pros and cons:

    Pros:
Can't beat the location, it is 5 minutes away from the Medical Center and strangely I did not hear a single siren all night. It is very quiet at night.
not a party hotel, I did not hear another resident all day night. It was very quiet.
The afternoon and night time staff are very friendly and helpful.
Free breakfast with eggs, biscuits, coffee, orange juice the works. Or you can go elsewhere for other breakfast -- plenty of eateries around.
    Plenty of free parking.
Renovated and very clean bathrooms, great tub and shower.
    Fresh clean smelling towels.
Clean sheets, new beds, good housekeeping staff.
Fridge and microwave and utensils in room for extended stay / business traveler.
Iron and ironing board in room.
    There's  small gym on site.

    Cons:
Insanely expensive room rate. $169 with AAA, $179 state employee rate. BTW no such rates exist for a less than three star hotel. The pricing was unreasonable.
    No weekly or monthly rate.
Mix of smoking and non smoking rooms means the whole hotel smells funky. A no no.
The room AC unit was moldy and the room felt wet cool instead of the dry cool you want with AC. I think the unit was low on freon. The room did not smell good because of this. It smelled of mold. (Management, if you want to check it, it was room 320).
The lot next to the hotel is construction zone as of May 2014. When I stayed there it was quiet but it is about to get loud as they're preparing to break ground.
I appreciate that the hotel was just renovated but the colors and textures for the upholstery that were chosen look a lot better in pictures than they do in person. The colors are dark and make the rooms and the interior look dark and dank.
Fluorescent lights in rooms make everything appear tacky.

    Final word:
These people are clearly trying to do a good job, they really care! And admittedly I had just stayed at a Park Hyatt (5 star hotel) at the heart of Chicago. So there's no comparison. If my room smelled better I think this hotel would have gotten one more star from me.

Also it makes no sense to me that a hotel that has rooms configured for extended stay has no extended stay rate. But I guess you have to go with what your parent company prescribes.

I was in Houston for a wedding and stayed at this Holiday Inn Express with the Bridal Party because it was really close to the venue.

The service here is absolutely outstanding. They went out of their way a few times to accommodate us which made a HUGE difference.

    1. They opened up the meeting room so we could do hair and makeup starting at 5:00 am. All the girls got extra sleep because we didn't have to open up our own rooms to a MUA/hair team.

    2. Every hot breakfast item had pork in it (we all know I don't eat pork), the guy working that morning had another staff member make a vegetarian breakfast option for me without even asking! I was pleasantly surprised and happy that they would go out of their way to do that.

    3. They made two extra carafe's of coffee for us in the morning without any prior request. So thoughtful and nice!

Parking is free and monitored by security cameras. Wifi is free too.

I love that the rooms have a fridge and microwave without an added cost. There's a Kroger walking distance.

Thank you, Holiday Inn Express Staff for being so warm and accommodating. Y'all proved that a little goes a long way.

The staff at this location were not only rude but they were also completely negligent of safety concerns. After canceling our reservation and blaming it on me, although I had the confirmed reservation, they gave us a room and announced our room number in front of other guests. Later, around midnight, there was a knock at the door and the woman kept repeating "front desk."  When we inquired what she wanted she said she had my license. Upon retrieving it she rolled her eyes at me. I told her that their guest safety tips clearly state not to open the door and furthermore, a person claiming "front desk" is just as scary as no announcement. She was awful. This was an awful experience.

Solid Holiday Inn Express, with friendly staff, and free breakfast. They even have a pancake machine.

I wish I had a pancake machine. Anyway...

You'll get sleep thanks to their quiet location, and comfy beds. Can't sleep? Take advantage of their 24-hour gym. After, enjoy a hot shower. Good water pressure.

Wi-Fi was iffy when I was there, your mileage may vary.
