we rented the meeting room here for a friend's going away party.  i was impressed by the chic, modern decor of the hallway leading to the meeting room, which felt like a luxury resort.  the staff was friendly and attentive, and they contributed greatly to the smooth flow of the gathering.  i checked the website out, and the rooms all look just as nice.  there's also a gym and an indoor swimming pool.  i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting houston and staying in the westchase area.

this is not the hotel's fault, but i wanted to throw this note in here for the safety of the guests.  one of our friend's cars got broken into in the parking lot.  he had only been inside the hotel for no more than 20 minutes when he suddenly remembered he left his cell phone in the car.  when he went outside, he saw that the driver's side window had been broken, and the cell phone was stolen.  be sure to take all your valuables out of your car, or at least hide them out of sight.  that's houston for ya :T

Nice new hotel.  They gave us corporate rate $89.  Thats really cheap. Room decorated nicely, great bathroom design.  BED WAY TOO SOFT.  THEY USE WAY WAY WAY too much air freshener.  Did someone die in my room?  This is a trend with Holiday Inn's now - maybe its Febreeze but the stink is awful perfumey snooki shyt.  They need a breakfast buffet, service in restaurant was terrible.  Go to iHOP up the frontage road or Le Peep on Westheimer for breakfast.

wi fi Internet poor.  Staff seemed helpful but disinterested.

Very nice hotel.  Great location for where we had to go (we could even stay off toll roads!).  Not too far from variety of restaurants & WFM.  Plenty of parking when we were here.  Plenty of outlets in the rooms.  Very nice staff, helpful & friendly every morning.  Very new hotel, therefore "new hotel smell" of off-gassing construction materials.  Folks sensitive to such things may be bothered, especially since it's Houston & everyone lives in AC, little fresh air.

If you travel often this is an above decent place... clean rooms, not to far from things to do, fairly new property (under three years at time of review).  Every room had a micro and small frig.  Downside, I do not eat on property, I do not enjoy the executive breakfast (rarely do at any hotel), and the bathroom sinks have a design flaw, do not drain well.  Not enough to keep me from staying here, I have for three weeks (saving up for Holiday Inn in Aruba next year).  The star is young BUT very great...

Very modern and classy interior both in the lobby and meeting rooms. I have a manager meeting here today and we are all very pleased with the look and environment. They provided us with cool looking small coca cola metal bottles. We will definitely come back.

Was here for business and did not stay or see a room so keep that in mind as you read my review.

The meeting rooms were adequate but chairs were not very comfortable for a full day seminar and by the 2nd day I was calling my massage therapist for an appointment.  Noise was not an issue from others having meetings in the hotel at the same time.

The food and drink provided by the hotel was not kept stocked very well.  Booked well in advance, breakfast was advertised to be served at 7:30 a.m. but it was after the 8:00 a.m. meeting start time before all items were available.  How can you not have coffee ready until 8:15 a.m. and then have it run out in 10 minutes?

Lunch was more of the same.  No water; only tea.  The tea ran out in about 20 minutes and I was through eating lunch before it was replenished.

Also, a co-worker had is truck broken into in the parking lot.  He was parked on a far secluded end of the lot.  I observed no security patrols by the hotel in the 2 days I was attending the conference.  Luckily I was able to park very close to the lobbby entrance both days.

Overall the food quality was good and there was plenty of it once it was brought out.  The staff was friendly and attentive enough and the wi-fi connection was very good.  All of the multi-media connections for the event seemed to work just fine and overall it was a good 2-day event.

We had a terrible experience and it has finally driven me away from the IHG and Holiday Inn brand for good, I'll use choice hotels from here on out. I called and confirmed my reservation with the actual staff at the hotel and at that time I asked what the hours for the pool was, and I was told. Never did they say that the pool would not be available during my stay. The only reason I chose this hotel at this time was for a birthday party for my 11 year old daughter who had begged all year for a pool party. We had told her it was not an option since her birthday is in February. We actually did some research and decided we could do it at an indoor pool so our search began. Since I am a long time Priority Rewards member I decided to look into hotels with indoor pools, not common in the south. So we booked this hotel, I arrived early and decorated the room with balloons and cake and ordered pizzas for the girls. Once the girls and my wife showed up we all ate and prepared to go poolside. The girls were laughing and excited, very happy about being able to go swim. I called the front desk to ask if the pool had towels there or if we needed to bring our own. He said yes and i went to hang up the phone when I hear something. I paused and said yes and it was at this time, while my daughter and friends are already dressed for the pool and ready to go that I was informed that the pool was "closed for the night" due to cleaning and treatment of the pool. I argued with the guy and at that point I wanted to speak to him face to face. My daughter said she wanted to go and we went to the front desk, again he told me it was "closed for the night" and he was sorry. Even told me a lie that the maintenance man had treated the pool before he went home for the night and simply said its is closed. I later found out that the pool is in fact closed all winter long and they just feed the BS story to the occasional customer who asks about the pool. This info came from the manager on duty the next morning when they tried in a feeble attempt to make up for the pool closure with some balloons and a stuffed animal. There was a security guard on duty that night that saw my daughter bawling her eyes out and offered to take us to LA Fitness where he had a membership, so we loaded all the girls up and took a company shuttle to the place only to be turned away because they don't allow anyone to swim under the age of 14. Devastated once again we went back to the hotel and tried to console my daughter once again. At no point was she being a spoiled brat but instead was only worried that her "friends were not going to have a good time", not that she was not getting what she wanted. We ended up going to a movie, which we could have done at home and not drove an hour to this crappy hotel with had cracks in the wall. I took some pictures and will be posting them. I contacted the IHG support number and the response I got was unapologetic and offered no solution, in fact just said the manager on property was going to handle the situation.

For a handy location and a friendly staff the Holiday Inn HOUSTON - WESTCHASE at  Plaza is an excellent bet. I always appreciate the gym and pool. If the management would work out the policies and documentation requirements for the exemption of taxes, the experience would be ideal.

This place is awesome. Checking in is easy and the lobby is small but really nice. King bed is so comfy, really nice restroom, microwave and mini fridge, nice flat screen tv, cable, once in a while free breakfast ( which is by the way decently tasty), vending machines and natural flavored water in the lobby, and the place is so clean. I've never been in the pool or gone to the gym there but I bet they're just as great as the rest of the hotel. Definitely recommend this place, it's one of my favorite hotels to stay at in htown.
