The NEW Washington School House. An exclusive Park City boutique hotel where you can expect... well, the unexpected. Built as a school in 1889, Washington School House has just graduated to a new level of luxury with the completion of its stunning renovation. Original quarried limestone exterior. Twelve spectacular rooms/suites. Historic living space with 16ft ceilings. Roaring fire. Chic ski lounge. Heated pool terraced in the hillside. Wine, aspen trees, stars. You get the picture. School is out but the hotel team is in... providing unprecedented service for an unequaled experience. The new Washington School House. Where old school is the new cool.
Established in 2011.
Built as one of the three original schools in Park City, Utah, the school was named for George Washington. Yes, of the cherry tree fame. Though close to going up in flames in Park City's Great Fire of 1898, the hammered limestone façade of the school house survived. So did the name. After the stock market crash of 1929, enrollment declined and the school house was sold in 1936 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It was used for dances and social events until the 50s. In 1984 the building was purchased and renovated into a bed and breakfast, The Washington School Inn, which served its visitors and community well until a new idea for the iconic landmark took hold. Nearing completion of a total interior renovation (think gutted to the studs), this fabulously preserved 1889 limestone gem reopened in December 2011.

I cannot begin to say enough about this hotel which feels more like a luxurious private mansion than a "hotel". My husband and I were treated with kid gloves as the friendly, professional staff cared for our every need. The chef, Ernesto was incredible!!! If only they served dinners we may have never eaten elsewhere. The stunning design, service... peace, relaxation and comfort you will find here is truly unparalleled. Don't forget, to top it all off, the location is PERFECT. I practically snowboarded off the mountain right into the hot tub. STAY HERE- IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY!

FYI, This review was on the wrong page... they completely renovated and have a new name now.
This place is a real treat, and so unique for Historic Park City. I agree with Scott W., the staff here is incredible. No detail was too small. From the greeting with a selection of wine and small bites to our gourmet breakfast, we were overwhelmed with the service and level of this hotel.
So, the service... French press coffee anytime? Done. Perfectly heated swimming pool and hot tub in the middle of Historic Park City? Sure. Chocolates, fruit, and complimentary water as well as Molton Brown toiletries greeted us in our room. Clean, polished, and still cozy. Oh, and the bed rocked. We got a great night's sleep.
Granted, our room was on the small side for Park City hotels, but keep in mind that this is an old school house. Everything else makes up for the size. And, it looks like they have a penthouse and other suites, which we didn't check out as they were fully booked!
The decor is a stylish mix of antiques and clean lines. Lots of white and light, with abstract paintings to add color to the spaces.
The Washington School House recently completed a (to the studs) renovation and it shows. My husband is a developer, and he couldn't fine any faults with the construction or finish details. And we're very picky. The linens and towels were divine, I have to get some Pratesi for my own home. We would have loved a full-length mirror in the room, but that was our only (small) complaint.

Absolutely above and beyond.
The service was not only attentive, but extremely friendly. The staff, Haley, Lindsey, Caleb and the rest of the crew were on top of everything; from remembering our wine preferences to waiting for our arrival on the sidewalk after receiving our flight information and calculating about how long it would take us to get there.
Breakfast was amazing; my boyfriend felt like a kid in a candy store: "I want the eggs, and the sausage, and a cappuccino, and an orange juice, and a smoothie, please." Their pastry chef should be sainted / blamed for the inch I can pinch after our two day stay (oh but how it was worth it!).
While the rooms are a bit small, the service as well as the quirky charm and warmth of the antiques and well-renovated decor more than make up for it.
My boyfriend and I have stayed at myriad "luxury" hotels around the world; we both agreed this is probably the finest, most intimate hotel we have experienced. We can't wait to return!

Pretty! White! Simple! My honey and I had the pleasure of spending time at Washington School House a few weeks ago for two nights. Peaceful and friendly. Extremely accommodating! Danielle was terrific...from the minute I made the reservation to the time we checked out. Wonderful reclaimed barn wood floors. Best of all, they had a really terrific fan in the room...seriously!

Our stay at the Washington School House Hotel completely blew me away. From the incredibly welcoming and attentive staff to the interior design and decor, this hotel offers everything one needs to feel like they're at home while staying in a new & luxurious place. The staff makes sure to take care of any and all requests you may have--they even email you before hand to ask if you have any preferences (food or comfort) that will help you enjoy your stay. They will drive you into town, welcome you warmly every time you enter the hotel, and check-up on you to make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable vacation.
The interior of the hotel is absolutely exquisite--every single space is utilized and decorated in a way that makes you feel at home yet in a very lavish surrounding. The bed was probably the best part of our room--extremely comfortable. Pairing that with a huge flat screen tv that includes all the HD channels + movies made it really hard to get out of bed!
The only downside to our stay at the Washington School House Hotel was that we only stayed two nights. Next time I am in Park City I will make sure to stay for more than two nights so I can really take-in this rare and wonderful hotel!!

Absolutely fantastic. Absolutely worth the price.
Rooms are very nice and property is historic with great decorating and unique feel, but it is the A+ personalized service that really sets this place apart. Great location, you can walk a block to Main Street or the park city resort lift or the staff are happy to take you or pick you up any where you want, anytime at no charge. Amazing breakfast, afternoon appetizers, drinks whenever you want.
Just don't book it next time I want to go!
