The South Jordan Super 8: what competitive rates, what fine service, what...inadequate security?

This Fourth of July weekend, the missus and I booked a room for three nights at the Super 8 in South Jordan, our second such excursion. Checking in at our 'usual' (i.e. we booked the modestly priced but very comfortable Whirpool suite for $90 a night), we plopped down on the firm but still amenable king-sized bed and got some shuteye. We were disturbed the next morning at 8am by an unrequested wake-up call from the front office. Seems a ?Jordan City police offer wanted to talk to us about my bubby's license plate, which some unknown assailant had decided to remove from her car while we slept. Several other cars in the motel parking lot suffered the same fate.

Since this occured on a holiday weekend, having to navigate the city for three days without any hope of getting a replacement license plate put a crimp in our plans, but the motel still served as an adequate love nest for the remainder of our stay. There was little the motel staff could do to lessen this pain in the tookus. They didn't offer anything beyond an apology for the theft, but our service had been so superb during both stays, I'm not sure what 'above and beyond' would've entailed. Guess you can't do THAT much to guard against parking lot trolls...can you?

Unfortunately placed security cameras aside, the Super 8 staff and amenities have always served us just fine. The continental breakfast offers healthy, family-friendly variety, although get there early--the other families crowd around the DIY waffle machine in the closing minutes before 9am. Our whirlpool suite has always been in shipshape, although it did smell noticeably of cigarettes during our most recent stay, an unwelcome bonus for a non-smoking suite  (the Super 8 would appear to offer smoking rooms, however). Wi-fi access is free and mostly up-to-speed...mostly. Washer/dryer and VCR/DVD machines are also available to guests. Convenient access to I-15 and nearby greasy food options ("Hello, Moons Over My Hammy!") is nice, but the joint is surprisingly quiet for an off-highway motel.

I'm not sure if the Super 8 will find our heads resting on their king-sized pillows again, but aside from the considerable inconvenience of an automotive abduction from plain view, I have no real cause for complaint. The staff is competent and friendly, and the rooms certainly tenable. Would recommend to couples and families passing through Salt Lake's south side, with the caveat that you bring all your valuables with you (including but not limited to license plates), lest you attract off-highway marauders.

I stay here 20 days out of the month and i love it. Staff and manager very friendly. rates are very competitive. rooms are always clean when i come back from work. pool is always warm, especially in the winter. Cleaning staff is awesome. towels are always clean and bed is made everytime. Hotel is in the middle of where i need to go so its a very convenient location. I recommend this location!

Low price was the driving factor on our stay here. Quickly found out why. Decor is extremely dated, hot tub jets didnt work, unless you're standing at the front desk don't expect a wifi signal from that "free wifi", generally disappointed in everything but the price. If you just need a room to sleep in, this place will work fine. I'll give it 2 stars since the price was as low as it gets.

I stayed here last year for ski season. Staffs were friendly, rooms were clean with small refrigerator , coffee maker and microwave. Everythings good as expected for the price paid except the Internet was sucky. I stayed here gain this year , everything was good and even the internet was fixed. Breakfast is continental , area was clean and nice coffee. I will stay here again next year! . Price, service and close to ski.

Don't know what the people running this joint are thinking, but calling room and complaining about noise level at six pm is totally lame. There is only one ice machine for all three floors. I have been to cheaper places with one on each floor.

You get what you pay for.   It's old.   It's not great.  It's a super 8, what do you expect?  I crashed one night (6AM-NOON) here and they gave me an extra hour to check out because i got there so late.

The place is fine.  We experienced worse on our trip.

This place was good, considering it's a Super 8 and the low price point. Room was clean, beds comfortable, staff friendly. The breakfast was Super 8 standard. The location is a bit off the freeway and far from central Salt Lake City. If you intend to spend time in central SLC, it might be 45+ minutes trip is rush hour traffic.
