Great staff, great amenities.  The room was clean and comfortable as was the pool. The staff was friendly and thought ahead to provide for a easy stay.  The breakfast was good but not great .  Yet, it was free and worked well for us.  The powdered eggs were a bummer.  They were accomodating.  It was a great stay for the kids, the pet and the parents.  We will go back.

I would go back, clean, great location good size room.  We had adjoining rooms and two bathrooms!  Also a great view of the Space Needle.

I've stayed here a few times. Fairly decent, my family actually got rooms here at new year's eve. Before midnight we went out to the street and watched fireworks. It was pretty fun.

The rooms are clean, it's relatively close to downtown - walking distance to the downtown shopping for the average person (a little too far for my grandmother). The rooms were pretty quiet. We didn't have any problems with noise or parties. There is a restaurant at the regular Holiday Inn, it's not bad, I had a burger that was pretty good. It's clean at a decent price.

a very quick bus ride from westlake station downtown.  or, if you packed light, you can walk there in 20 minutes or so.  newer, clean building.  walking distance to belltown, downtown, seattle center.  safe area.  free solid wifi.  they have a business center with 2 computers and 2 printers, but they ask that you limit your time to 20 minutes and the computers are slow and outdated.  staff was friendly except for one person.  soda and water machines on each floor.  free breakfast is quite good - eggs/omelets, sausage/ham, bagels, muffins, pancakes, fruit, other pastries.  rooms and bathrooms were clean.  nice large flat panel tv.  located on a major street, but its quiet.

Does not measure up to other HIX I've stayed in. Housekeeping was very inconsistent and sloppy. The breakfast was disappointing when it came to variety. Service was very poor...my tv failed to work for my entire 10 day stay after repeated requests to have it fixed and it took 4 hours to get soap housekeeping failed to restock one day. If you want a place with a decent location to downtown don't settle for here, there are plenty of other choices around.

What a wretched hotel . You can do better in your Seattle accommodations.

    I'll list through the problems.

    1) Bedding: the sheets reek of bleach.  I want a clean bed as much as the next guy, but come on . The stench was so bad we requested to switch rooms.  While the new room was larger to our delight, the problem remained of the sheets pungent odor.

    2) Location: the hotel is not in the greatest part of the city.  Bullets aren't whizzing past, but still.  The nearby highway noise can be distracting.

    3) Room design:  The bathroom walls are paper thin and the sink is located outside the toilet/shower area in the main area of the room.  Annoying.

    4) Convenience charges.  There's a $7.95 deposit charge just to borrow an ethernet cable. It's refunded upon return, but such minor amenities should be offered completely free of hassle and expense.   The in-room on demand movies are 11-14 bucks.

I suppose other than all that, the place seems comparable to other hotels in the same class.  I, however, won't be staying here again.

This hotel is a standard Holiday Inn Express and super convenient to downtown.  It has a lovely view of the Space Needle.  More importantly it is friendly to families.  We were able to get two adjoining rooms and request a crib for my niece.  The breakfast included the standard suite hotel fare - bread, bagels, english muffins, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, cereal, eggs, etc.  And while we didn't get rooms with fridges, there was plenty of ice that we kept refilling our buckets with to keep a handful of things cold (namely leftover dessert from going out).  The parking garage, which had an additional charge not-surprisingly given the area, was small and cramped but safe.  I slept well on my bed although I was amused by the labeled soft and firm pillowcases.  (It is also very good to note what a couple other reviewers have mentioned about the hotwire deals).

I love staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Our visit to the downtown Seattle hotel was very nice. The room was clean and we had a postcard view of the Space Needle - which is just a short walk away. The complimentary breakfast was very good and standard to Holiday Express hotels. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Parking was $10 per day. (I guess paying for parking is the norm when staying in a big city?) On the downside, they really need to test the mattresses in their sleeper sofas and replace the bad ones. Ours was so bad it was like living in the Seinfeld episode when Elaine slept on Jerry's parent's sofa bed and woke up with a broken back because of "that bar!" You would be better off just sleeping on top of the sofa. The hotel still is not 100% non-smoking so the hallways smell like smoke. The non-smoking room was fine though - no smell. If you need a place to stay that is affordable and downtown, this is a good choice.

    Loved our stay here..

Walking distance to the touristy stuff.. (Space Needle and that area.) Cab fare for Pikes and Capital Hill Cost about $5-8 bucks depending on traffic. Everything is fairly close so we walked the majority of the time.

The parking garage is a mess. When first arriving, we had to drive around the block about 3 times before we could figure out how to get in there. Only to then realize we gotta get our room key for the gate to open. Once inside tho it was secure and had no issues.

The breakfast was great! I would stay again just because of that. Plenty of food even if we got there after nine am. More seating would have been nice tho.  There were a lot of people crammed in that room.

Stayed here two nights. The room was okay, nothing special, nothing wrong with it except the shower fixture didn't stay up. The breakfast is kind of gross, particularly the eggs. It also gets very crowded.

I've been a pretty reliable patron of the Holiday Inn Express chain and I was not disappointed by this property. Many of the rooms have recently been renovated, however I was not in one of them, yet it still wasn't bad at all. The size of the room was generous, the cost to park (considering you're right in the city) was affordable and it was in a secure garage, the pool was open late, the staff was friendly, complimentary coffee and cookies were available, and the place was remarkably quiet--especially considering our last of three nights there was on New Year's Eve.

Though this is a good hotel for New Year's Eve, we had a GREAT view of the Space Needle from the parking lot out front of the hotel!

Overall this HIX was underwhelming.  For total value it did not meet what we have come to expect from HIXs.

    1) Under hotel parking is convenient and secure.
    2) Breakfast was same as rest of HIX chain -- pretty good for an inclusive continental breakfast.
    3) Location is within walking distance to the space needle and the monorail (which will take you to the other end of the city).
    4) The staff at the front desk was very nice and exceptionally helpful about the parking situation.

This HIX gets 3 stars because of 4 things:
    1) Breakfast room was to small -- we ate in our room after fighting through a long line to get breakfast.
    2) Price was exorbitant ($200) for what was not nearly as nice as other HIXs.
    3) Room was located next to an elevator and had sounds of people talking all night.
    4) The highway noises are audible.

A few other things to note:
    - Park early because the parking fills up quickly.
    - Seattle has a lot of pick-pockets and thieves -- be careful about where you leave things.  My wife had her iPhone stollen out of her tote bag which she stepped away from for a picture.

Aww.  I'm sad to see my old hotel haunt given only a 3!  I love this chain for their free breakfasts, convenient complimentary airport shuttle, free newspapers on weekdays and the short walk to our company's office building!  I live here again so there's no need to stay here as much, but I always liked this branch.  The shuttle is not shared with another hotel like the Holiday Inn further up the street.  It has the free breakfast which while not gourmet is still enough to provide you with enough coffee, calories and nutrients to get you through the morning.  The rooms are always clean, they always recognize my Priority Club status and I even like the tall wood framed windows in the lobby that remind me I'm back in the Emerald City.  I stayed here a lot and I've never had a problem with them.  Staff are always courteous and prompt.  And I will not confess to brand loyalty blindness either.  I've been to a  one or two in this chain I will never visit again!  Pinky swear!

Upon checking inn, I discovered blood on the wall near the bathroom.  Then, at breakfast time the next morning at 6:25 am, there were 6-7 hotel guests waiting for the breakfast room to open.  Rather than being customer oriented, the staff refused to open a few minutes early.   Then on our second day of our stay, our room had not been attended to by housekeeping until 3 pm!!  When I attempted to discuss these issues to the hotel manager, Darcy Hambrick,  she was indignant, argumentative, surly and condescending.  She came across as totally uncaring about guest services, guest concerns.  I'm retired Air Force, 55 years old, and well-traveled; never have I seen such a surly attitude towards hotel guests than what Ms Hambrick exhibited.

We cancelled our last day at this Holiday Inn Express, and moved to a new hotel a block away.

Pros: Good location (close to Space Needle, easy walk to Pike's Place, etc.), clean, friendly staff.
Cons: On busy road (traffic noise), crowded breakfast room (apparently designed to be wasteful - paper plates/bowls, disposable cutlery, cups), minimal fitness equipment (bike was out of service for my entire stay), no recycling at all.

I stayed for 5 days. All in all, it was okay, but when I return to Seattle, I will look for a different hotel.

I loved my stay here at this Holiday Inn in Seattle. The location was fantastic! I could see the space needle from the hotel. It was not right in the middle of downtown, which kept the noise level down.

NOTE: Parking is $10 overnight. But this is cheaper than finding any parking in town. The parking garage was very safe to park in.

Also at night, walking back to the hotel can be very dangerous. There are some sketchy people walking around the block.

Clean, nice staff, good location- albeit a bit loud from the highway noise.

The reasons for the three versus five stars:
    - Seriously the slowest elevator I've ever encountered. No joke- you can be stuck waiting for 15 minutes. Couldn't use the stairs because of a heavy suit case and being on the top floor.
    - Inconsistent Wi-Fi. One of the reasons to stay at HIE properties is the wi-fi so not having it (it was down an entire day of my stay) kills their competetive advantage
    - Not so great breakfast. BUT, it's ok because the hotel is an easy walk from famous Top Pot Donuts. Awwwww yeah!
-Parking is a problem. They run out quickly, and send you to a lot next door. We were parked there with a valid permit from the hotel and we STILL got a $35 parking ticket from the owners of the lot. They immediately reversed it when we complained, but still- a pain.

Having said all THAT- you may think it should be a two or perhaps even one star review. But, really, those are relatively small things compared to the fact that the hotel itself was nice and definitely an improvement from another comparably priced hotel in the neighborhood I've stayed in. Staff also very, very nice.

Great value! Good bfast spread. Its complimentary. Parking overnite is only $10 which is cheap compared to other nearby hotels. Rooms totally adequate. decent size and clean. Friendly staff. I'd stay here again. Walking distance to space needle. Walgreens nearby. Pike about a mile and a half away. only thing, why can't I fully close the drapes? There is a light outside. The rod is designed so u can't close it. bad wifi connection.

Horrible!..... Smoking is allowed in rooms on every floor, which taints this entire place. I was told that air fresheneR would be used. LOL

MOST elevators don't work, others are too slow.

Lounge nearby is only food place around.

Hallways are not only smoky, but hot

    Noisy kids in pool.

Our parking lot key cards did t work, major hassle to return for new ones.

Hotel should prevent smoking near entry because lobby smells of smoke

I booked my hotel through Hotwire.com ... and apparently nonsmoking rooms are not guaranteed... so when I checked in, all they could offer me was a smoking room. :( I was terrified.... It was late, I was tired (just flew in & had dinner with my friend), and I wanted to throw off my shoes and just relax... but now I couldn't do that.. because I can't stand the smell of smoke (I can smell it from a mile away!)! They offered to move us into a nonsmoking room for the next night.. but we'd have to come down and ask them to hold it for us in the morning... we absolutely took their offer!

I never understood why hotels charge for parking... we are paying for the room! I'd rather not have the complimentary breakfast and park for free! Especially since it'd mostly be overnight parking anyway! I believe parking here was $10/night.

    For the rooms:
Smoking Room: GREAT view of the Space Needle! But the smell of smoke overpowered all the greatness of it! There was also a microwave & mini fridge, one bed. --- I woke up and my throat/nose was full of phlegm/all stuffed up! I guess my body was trying to save me & block as much of that smell out as possible!

Nonsmoking room: Bleh view, NO smoke smell (FELT SOOO GOOD TO WALK IN HERE!), NO mini fridge OR microwave.. but after a night of a smoking, this place was like heaven to me! Plus, we also was out all day and just used the room for sleep!

Overall, this is a great place for people who don't spend much time in the hotel (go out and be tourists!); aside from sleep. But make sure they save you a nonsmoking room! Who would have thought that ALL of their nonsmoking rooms would be booked on a Wednesday night???

This was a walking/public transportation vacation for us. With that in mind in conjunction with price point is the reason why we chose this location. The motel was clean, quiet and the food provided was good "as per my wife" since I usually ate at the Whole Foods after working out at the 24 Hour Fitness. Both are close to this location.

We had family vocation to Seattle in May2014. We were impressed by the excellent service this Hotel provided to us. One evening, we asked the front desk to call a Taxi, after 10 mins, no taxi shown because it was in the rush hours. We asked the front desk again, the front desk called another Taxi. Unfortunately, no one can arrive in the next 15 mins. We could not believe that Yoshi (General Manager of this Hotel) would like to give us a ride. From the top manager's attitude and behavior, you can image the good quality of this Hotel. Seattle food and living cost are not cheaper. This hotel also includes the convenient breakfast and internet. We are happy for the great service and its reasonable price!

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights while on vacation. I'm a frequent business traveler and stay exclusively at IHG Priority Club hotels. We used some of my points to stay for free on this trip. Parking is 10 bucks a night in the garage. Make sure you check-in before trying to park your car, since you will need your room key to access the garage. The rooms are typical for an older Express, the top 3 floors were under construction while we were there. My guess is that they plan on updating the entire facility. It's walking distance to the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and the downtown area which was great. We only took the car out of the garage once and that was to go to far out to the West side of Seattle. They usually aren't as nice as the Hampton, but the point system is a lot better.

My mom and sisters recently found ourselves in a stressful predicament - my dad was rushed from Eastern Washington to Harborview hospital with no immediate family in the area our search brought us to Holiday Inn Express.
Not only did the front desk kindly listen to our dilemma they went out of their way to provide us a great room, reasonable rate and kindness not once but twice as we waited for him to complete treatment! An added plus was the morning breakfast, it was delicious and the staff smiled as they kept everything running smoothly! This will definitely be our "go to" hotel in Seattle!

I have stayed at plenty of HI Express locations and have come to expect a frugal but clean and efficient stay. This location was undergoing renovations, and our room was "complete". The heater hanging out of the window had to be 30 years old or more, loud and inefficient running too hot then too cold. You could not swing a cat in the bathroom, or turn around in it and the enclosure was yellow, crispy, old. This is NOTHING in comparison to the beds - their "triple sheeted beds" were something Fred Flintstone might have used. To say they were as hard as rock is exactly accurate. I have never slept worse! I checked out the next day and these morons charged me for an entire week on my Amex, then tried to "COLLECT" from me like a collections agency. I was billed $765.00 for one night, and Im still fighting with them. Their manager is "sorry" (after 10 phone calls to try to right this) and he "hopes we can resolve it on a work day. Apprently catching someone at the facility on a week day evening (Friday) is not convenient.

RUN, do not walk to the nearest hotel with a repuation for being clean, coimfortable and honest.

we took a girls trip for my daughter's 18th birthday, 4 of us total. Based on our previous experiences with Holiday Inn Express hotels we decided that was the best choice for us for this trip to Seattle. It was centrally located and we knew we could get around by foot easily.

Unfortunately I was a little late in making the room reservations. I went online and was unable to find anything available to sleep four. I called the hotel directly and was promptly transferred to the internal reservation/sales department. Nick was very kind and accommodating. He could not find us a 2 queen bed room but was able to give us a queen suite and offered it to us as the same rate. And after realizing that I couldn't use my Priority Club points when booking with Nick, he asked me to please call IHC/Priority Club number and have them arrange for me to do so. Through he and Savannah, we were given a very fair price for the first night and then I was able to use my points for the remaining two nights.

We checked in rather late i the evening. Some hotels have a not so friendly night staff, those that show that they could care less and that there job was just that - a job. Not the case when we arrived at the property. Tray and Matt promptly welcomed us and asked us how our train ride to town was, quickly processed our check in, and showed much care and customer service even at 1030pm. We were given maps of the city with place marked that are hot spots. We were even given a personal recommendation to a late night dinner place a few blocks away.

We were short a few towels and pillows, so when we left for the late night eatery, we let Matt and Tray know. When we returned to our room, we found four additional pillows and enough towels to get us through the weekend. Even after realizing I had forgotten my toothbrush, one was very quickly brought up t me -- no charge.

Each morning when we ventured out into the city we were greeted with a "Good Morning -- have a great day!" and each night when we returned Tray and Matt would ask us how our day went, what we did, and genuinely spoke to us. On my daughter's actual birthday evening, Tray got the whole lobby to say "Happy Birthday" to her!!!

We would recommend this property to others -- 100%!!!

Thank you for a wonderful stay and for your excellent customer service!

We have been very disappointed with this Holiday Inn Express. We had never been to Seattle; and reading that it was in "City Center", we automatically thought (wrong!) that it was just that:  stores, cafes, etc.  Nada, nil.  It's a crummy area surrounded by paint stores and auto repair.  Yes, the Space Needle is close by as is the south shore of Lake Union. All else must be driven to.  I like to walk, but up and up hills in the unusually hot weather they've been having was not fun. Compared to our HIExpress stay in Portland, which was perfect and well located just outside the Alphabet district,  this has not been. Elevator out for two days now, men's bathroom outside breakfast area closed.
We will not come back to this site.

My stay at the holiday Inn City Center while short was a pleasant one.  The rooms were what you would expect from the newer Holiday Inn Express line, large and well kept.  The front desk girl was very sweet and accommodating to my needs.  I had a great view of the space needle and was convenient to everything.  I didn't venture out much around the hotel, it looked like it could be mildly sketchy at night, but I can neither confirm nor deny such a feeling as I was with friends elsewhere all night.  All that being said, while I would probably look for Another hotel if I traveled on business I wouldn't be afraid or sad to stay here again.

It's a Holiday Inn Express. You kinda know what you get here....

Room was clean and orderly when I arrived. There was AC (noteworthy as a coworker who booked a 'local' hotel did not have AC and it was 85 degrees), there was breakfast ready in the lobby in the morning, and the staff was helpful. The bed was comfy, the TV worked and had plenty of channels, and everything else was about as to be expected. The staff even allowed me to store my bag in the storage room while I took care of meetings in town, returning to pick them up on my way to the airport several hours later.

This location is not exactly in the middle of downtown or convenient to much, but seeing as I was only in town for a night and came during the middle of several conventions (so many hotel rooms were sold out or highly priced), this fulfilled my needs.

Just be warned that Holiday Inn Express tends to attract families, so sometimes you'll have to deal with the occasional screaming kid in the hallway / lobby / elevator. I'd much rather take that than a dirty room, no AC, bums outside, or loud partys next door til the wee hours of the morning that I've experienced at other hotels in Seattle!

Holiday Inn Express' are pretty predictable - a key reason in which my family is their number one fan and I, on the other hand, dig wildly for weird and unpredictable (sometimes good, sometimes bad) accommodations. This location was no different. Clean rooms, helpful service, a very warm and handy lap pool (which I made eager use of) and a continental breakfast with cereals, yogurts, eggs and more.

I had an overall flawless experience, I reserve the fifth star because of the location. Indeed, it is fairly close to the needle and monorail. However, it's not the best walking route, not in an unsafe way, it's just off of Dexter and lacks surrounding street retail, etc. to keep it bustling. I'd probably choose a different location next time.

My family and I have stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels all around the country, so we were extremely disappointed with our experience at this hotel. The front desk informed us that the keys were very weak and sensitive, and they would de-activate if they were placed near credit cards or a cell phone. We thought it was ridiculous, but kept our keys away from those items. The keys still did not work. To make matters worse, the front desk attendants made it seem like we were wasting their time by having them re-activate our key cards.

The customer service from the staff leaves a lot to be desired. For example, one of the managers was asked by another guest if there was a Holiday Inn Express in Portland, and the manager told him that he would have to look it up online. What kind of manager says that to a customer and does not take the initiative to even look it up online? While we were waiting for a cab in the lobby, one of our family members saw one of the employees vomiting in the restroom. This employee then proceeded to hand guests their room cards no less than five minutes later.

As someone who works in the customer service industry, my recommendation is to stay at any of the dozens of other hotels in downtown Seattle. I do have to give a shout out to Kim B for her PHENOMENAL customer service. She was very apologetic, and by far the best part of that entire staff!

We stay at a lot of Holiday Inn Express Hotels and were happy with this one. Good location (just a few blocks to the Space Needle) and good sized room. The only negative I have is that the breakfast room is way too small for the size of the hotel. Our workaround was to take our breakfast back up to the room.

Ellen at the check in desk was awesome. Problem finding my reservations I had made online but she ended up finding it and have us free parking for are stay. When we got upstairs there was a man in our room. Said he was waiting for his taxi and fell asleep. Hotel management moved us to  the room next door. Didn't offer us anything to make up for it. Was not Rey pleased. Was informed I was getting a "suite" but when we got into the room it was just your basic hotel room with two queen beds. Hotel was clean and had a great breakfast. Would not recommend to anyone and will never stay again.

Super convenient spot in downtown Seattle with free breakfast. It was kind of on the pricey side for the quality of the hotel, but we knew we were paying for the location. Staff was very nice, however, and if you're visiting without a car, this is worth checking out.

This place is definitely A-OK.  Our family of four stayed in a double room in June.  The room was average sized and ok for 2 adults and 2 teens for 3 days. No complaints about the cleanliness or the noise. The rate was reasonable and the location close to UW and Safeco field.  It is  a 10 min walk to get to the Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens.  There was a lot of construction going on in the area making driving and walking not so pretty. This is a small hotel and sits next to the Holiday Inn making the tiny, tiny parking lot a little confusing.   Didn't find a lot of eateries nearby, but there is a McDonalds by Space Needle and Pagliaccis has great pizza for delivery.
There is a small indoor pool and a little "convenience store" set up in the lobby. If you walk down Denny st you will come to a Walgreens a couple of blocks away.

The employees are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the touristy things.  They get 4 stars...

We stayed here for 3 nights on a recent trip to Seattle. i picked this place because it was a couple blocks from the space needle. I had reserved a suite online.

When we checked in i asked if the suite had a view of the space needle, girl checking us in said all the suites do. When we got to the room...Wrong!  we had a view of the rooms across the courtyard. I went down and asked if we could please change rooms so we could have one with a view...kinda what they promised us.  OMG...it was like I asked for someone to donate an organ. After approx 45 minutes someone else came out and we finally changed rooms

Went into a smaller room, with a view...it was a nice room, clean, lots of traffic noise though. And only 10 bucks a night cheaper...than a suite?  Oh well...

The area is NOT as advertised on the web site...not at the city center..not much to see walking around...only restaurant close is the hotels...which was nice, no complaints...

it was an Ok place i guess...free breakfast and all that...I just didn't feel i got my money's worth...something was missing. Planning on doing Seattle again next year...will find a different place to stay, live and learn

For what this hotel is, I give it a solid 4 - 4 1/2 stars. The only reason I take off a little is because Seattle City Center is in the name, however, it's not exactly at City Center.  A tad misleading because there is a freeway between the two.

Our room was very nice...great amenities, clean room and comfortable beds. The morning breakfast was perfect for us.  It has a nice variety of cereals, breads, fruits, juices and warm items that kept the 4 of us full and very happy during our stay.  The indoor pool is clean and nice and every employee we encountered was great!

This place was kind of underwhelming, but for the cost, I guess you get what you pay for. It takes forever to get service at the front desk and the internet was down for two days when we arrived, so it was really difficult for me to get my work done. The location is less than ideal for walking to the places we were going, but we figured it out.  It's still plenty walkable to Belltown and local landmarks, just not a pedestrian haven. I wouldn't return, but it was far from the worst hotel experience I've had.

booked the Hotel as all other Hotels were not available.  Direct located at the Space Needle and the very busy Denny Way (crowded road, very noisy 24h). There is a high chance to get a room with a beautiful "wall view", or the loud before mentioned street....
Hotel is pretty old styled and my room was looking since years for a refurbishment. Rates during peak season do not correlate to quality at all...

positive is the very friendly staff and downtown location.

They are working hard at trying to make a very old building better.  Service was good and the value of stay was reasonable
