My family and I checked in relatively late around 10pm but we did inform them so we still had a room. We booked a suite which consisted of 1 king bed and 1 pull out sofa bed which was a queen and 2 plasma tvs.  As there was an error on their website, the management willing to honour the original rate that was on the website. Infact, when we checked in, the story was totally different. When I checked in the floors 5-7 were ALL booked. Apparently, according to the hotel, they said ALL of the suites on floors 5-7 were booked. As we booked a suite with view, they guarantee a view of Lake Union, we could not see Lake Union AT ALL!! All we saw were 3 trees. As a result, we went down to the front desk to see if they could give us a different room. They decided to show us a room on the same floor but different room. The new room consisted of 2 queen beds. I have to say that the new room did have a better view of Lake Union than the old room.  We did ask if any there were any other rooms available on higher floors but the answer was NO. In my opinion, i don't think there is ANYWAY that all the rooms from floors 5-7 were ALL booked!!!!  Also, we did request for a higher floor room. They did not tell us that no more rooms were available. I believe that hotel or inn was very mean. They did not like the fact that we found a mistake on their website. Overall, if you want BAD service and front desk people glaring at you, then GO AHEAD and book this inn!

Decent room. Stayed in a King suite with a lake view, nicely sized room, had view of Lake Union that was fairly unobstructed.  Continental breakfast was okay, offerings not completely what you expect... had a waffle iron to make your own besides the atypical offerings of pasteries and cereal.  Parking being included was a big incentive for me since it seems all others were pay or valet options only.  Nice to go to and from the garage as you want.  The room was just over $200 with taxes but based on the research of downtown area hotels, this was comparable for the room we had.  Only negative is the door that leads outside to our view has a hard time staying closed which is frustrating and being right next to the lake you hear several sea planes taking off during the day.  Those are small compliants for an overall good stay.

This one has a great view/closeness to Lake Union, if that's your thing.

The UVillage one is super close to the Burke-Gilman Trail and the U Village shopping center ( yelp.com/biz/XYcht_y51Zs… ),
    if that's your thing.

Compared to the Broadway one, rooms are huge and prices very good (especially given that parking is included rather than additional and expensive) the SLU location is pretty convenient and Eastlake makes quick work of a trip to Cap Hill or the U District.  As I write this, I am unwinding gleefully from the drive up from Olympia in a room with a jacuzzi for the same price as a vastly-inferior jacuzzi-free room on the hill.  I think I have a new favorite Seattle hotel.

Easy to access from street.  Locked secure parking.  Breakfast was typical but good.  Like that parking and breakfast are included in the price.  Clean rooms - no mold in bathroom.  Fireplaces are a nice touch.

My parents stayed here on their last visit (thank god, they got a hotel!).  And it's a great place to house the fam when they are in town for several reasons:

Great view, make sure you get them on a higher floor facing Lake Union.  My mom loved watching the boats sail around and the sea planes land every morning.  Heck, I loved it when I was over there visiting.

Friendly staff.  They gave me my parents parking permit for the week, since I would be shuttling them around all week.  It made my chaffeur job that much easier when I could actually park the car.

Apparently, they have a decent breakfast (as far as hotel breakfasts go) with make your own waffles.  A pool, fitness center, and internet access.

All-in-all a great place to house out of town visitors, a nice little hotel with great views without the cost of a downtown hotel.

This place is great for the price and location! Right near where the ferry leaves to Whidbey island. Lots of little hole in the wall pubs and resteraunts all around within walking distance. I think it's worth it to pay a little extra and get a room that overlooks the ocean. These rooms are a bit small, but beautiful, especially the view! They place you literally over the ocean with the waves coming up underneath that part of the hotel. In December, we paid about $145 for the room.

The service is A++!!! There was free wine in the evening. Free continental, breakfeast, coffee etc. Overall, I'd call it a cosy, romantic little seaside hotel. Great cultural feel to the whole area. Loved it!

I am seriously still sitting in my hotel room at the Silver Cloud Lake Union, accessing the free wireless Internet, watching the boats and planes on the lake and writing this review.

My family and I arrived late last night and were quickly checked into our room; yeah for free, locked parking.  When we arrived in the room I realized it was not the one I requested and quickly went downstairs to get the correct room.  Unfortunately the employee who had made our reservation had not given us the right room (deluxe king suite with water view) but the employee on duty upgraded us at no extra charge and apologized for the mistake.

Take my advice, pay a little extra and get the deluxe king suite with a water view if you are traveling with a child!  The living room (which has a pull out sofa bed) has french doors (with locks) separating the bedroom.  It is so nice to put my daughter down to bed or a nap in the bedroom and be able to sit and read, watch TV, etc in the living room.  Did I mention two 42 inch plasma screen TVs in the room?

All the other stuff is great as well: good complimentary buffet breakfast, aveda bath products, nice indoor pool and spa (open 24 hours), central to a lot of activities in Seattle and nice friendly staff willing to help you find things in Seattle and make recommendations. The hotel even offers a free daily shuttle to downtown every half hour, just make sure to reserve early as they fill up quickly.  I will definitely make this my home away home when in Seattle.

Stayed here one night this past month.

    Pluses -

    - pretty area
    - room was clean and good sized
    - decent breakfast
    - free coffee (24 hours?)
    - free Wifi

    Minuses -

    - tight parking lot and very hard to park
    - very S-L-O-W elevators
    - lack of breakfast eateries within walking distance of the hotel

Decent, but there are better choices.

I normally try to stay downtown when I'm in Seattle, as most everything I need to do when I'm there is between Spring and Pike.  On this trip, I screwed around and waited until the very last second to book, so I had to suck it up and crash at this Silver Cloud hotel on the south banks of Lake Union.

As with most of the Silver Cloud family, this is a well maintained and fairly attractive property.  I only have two beefs:

    1.  There's not much happening nearby, unless you're into cancer research.  If that's the case, you're in heaven.

    2.  The central elevator sucks.  They kindly implore you to use the other (faster) elevators, but I found that kind of annoying.

If you need close access to downtown and the other alternatives are too pricey or already booked, you could do a lot worse than this one.

I'm kind of a picky traveler, and this place is one of the better places where I've stayed.

I have a king with lake view, and it's a pretty decent-sized room for it not being a suite. Also, the view (with the Needle in a distance) makes it all worth it.

I had poked around the web looking at Trip Advisor and such, and this was one of the top-rated accomodations (based on user reviews) that cost less than $200 a night (sans tax)! They were pretty *right-on* with the other reviews.

They have a pool/spa, and also a workout room - again, all of them a decent size.

The coffee is good, though the continental breakfast sucked.

You have your standard: yogurt, under-ripe fruit, cereal, hard-boiled eggs sitting in a bowl of ice; pastries, juice, and coffee. Then, make-your-own waffles. I dunno, I know that in some way, this is all you need, but on the other hand, the WOW factor just wasn't there - it needed quality and variety. For example, the pastries tasted like they *used-to-be-flaky*, but they definitely also tasted like they've been brought out for the 1,000th time. Also, it would've been nice to also have some warm foods...

Also, I think that the "breakfast" being served in such a large dining room (with a great view) kind of sets the expectation higher than what you get with the food.

I knew this ahead of time from reading the other reviews, and I also know that this is beyond their control, but my only other gripe is that this isn't close to any businesses of interest - retail, restaurant, coffee shop, etc. There are a couple of sit-down seafood restaurants across the street, and a cancer center next door.

The huge plus-side to this place is that they have a free shuttle that leaves every half hour  to three spots downtown: Pioneer Square, Pike's, or Space Needle; if you need a ride back, you can call the hotel and they come pick you up. They offer this service anytime from 7 am (weekdays) and 9 am (weekends) to 11 pm, just as long as you let them know in advance when you need to go.

All-in-all, I'd recommend this place and would stay here again.

This place was okay, but I expected more for the money. I was told my room would have a view of "the water", but it had a nice warehouse view with a tiny sliver of water off to the side instead. I'd also like to point out that lackluster free breakfast. It wasn't bad, but again... for the money, I expected more. I'll probably stay here again but with downgraded expectations- and room.

A romantic location, with our room viewing the harbor and water.  The rooms only have double beds so take away a star on romance.  Rooms are small and the bathroom is tight with the vanity outside of the bathroom.   Free Wifi in the room.  The secured inside parking has very tight spaces but the lobby is inviting with a TV, 24 hr store where you can buy snacks and things you might have forgotten on the trip.
The breakfast was very good, plenty of seating, with a fire place and coffee bar and outside covered patio overlooking the water.  The breakfast was more then continental, with build your own waffles, hard boiled eggs and such.
Checked in with some confusion on the room, should have been waterfront view, was fixed but had to be made up.  Online with hotels.com for $180.  A bit pricey but great location near eateries and the water.
    Geared towards families.

This is an excellent hotel for the price.  My wife remarked that the bathroom was one of the cleanest she had seen.  The staff is professional, if not overly friendly.  The shuttle driver was really nice and a lot of fun to talk to.

The view of Lake Union was beautiful, and you feel like you're right outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown yet still close enough to everything.

The room was well appointed and very clean.  A separate wet bar sink and sink outside the bathroom is very nice.

The parking is secure, but there is a really funky angle as you're leaving the gate to go to the ramp, that might have you doing a several point turn coming out of the garage.  But that's really not that big of a deal.

The parking was relatively empty during the week but was filled up on Friday night, probably due to the 3-day weekend.  I'd stay here again if we were doing things outside of Seattle Center.

Just got back from Seattle and I was super happy with Silver Cloud. We booked it for the price, free parking, wifi, room fridge, microwave and breakfast and I didn't have high expectations on the room decor since the pics on their site don't really do it justice.

I was pleasantly surprised with the room, it wasn't as outdated as I anticipated. The staff were super nice and we couldn't have stayed at a better place. True there's not much going on around there but you can drive like 7 mins and be in the Queen Anne area, it's still conveniently located and not totally traffic laden like it is downtown. Would totally stay here again.

The rooms were great, the views were lovely, the shuttle as convenient as could be ( and with drivers just as charming!) The customer service however was very poor. We had a small family trip here as we were considering using The Silver Cloud to book our upcoming wedding party, and wanted to check the place out (IE interested in possibly booking between 12-15 rooms for A WEEK = lots of business!!!).  I can honestly say that we are a pretty easy group that came from NYC, South Georgia and California for this visit (just 5 of us)  and we were very disappointed with the consistently poor attitude we all seemed to receive from the employees. The amenities were meh, not bad...but not worth the chill. In defense of the employees I will say  that I have found when a place has consistently poor customer service, or the employee's always seem pissed off, it's usually because they are---and that usually comes from not being treated well by management, I'm just speculating why a place that seems to hit all the marks, misses such an important one. The good news is, after a week's stay here...the Marriot Residence Inn next door won our hearts and seemed FAR better in comparison (no I do not work for Marriot). We just wanted a little warmth and professionalism.

I went to Seatle in July for a short vacation and came across this hotel while I was researching hotels near downtown.  I liked the location near Lake Union, the price and the positive reviews.  In the end my family and friends chose to stay at a different hotel.  However I made a reservation and realized that forgot to cancel them when I saw the charges on my credit card bill the following month.   I made a call to the hotel immediately and Kate the person who picked up my call was very helpful. I acknowledged my mistake and asked if they could do anything about the charges.  Kate talked to a manager and called me a couple hours later and told me that the charges were reversed.  I really appreciated her efforts and the hotel's willingness to reverse the charges.  If I have a chance in the future to stay in Seattle again I will definitely try Silver Cloud next time.

Outstanding hotel at the right price.  Friendly staff, excellent rooms, free shuttle, comp breakfast, free parking.  What else can I say?  As a Portlander I will definitely be returning to this property.  One word of caution: There is is substantial streetcar contruction in the area so be careful.  The staff knows all the ins and outs.  btw...the King Tut is a must see.

I will stay here again for sure on our many trips to Seattle, and here is why:

    1.  Front desk staff was super friendly.  Back in the day I worked at a front desk, so I expect a high level of service, and I got it.  We pulled up and I jumped out to ask where to park, and the front desk attendant said he'd just check us in quickly, and he did in a friendly yet professional manner.  Quality customer service ranks very high for me!

    2.  The room was just what I expected from the Internet pictures.  We had a non-view room, so we looked right into another building, but I knew this when I booked.  It's $20 more for a view of Lake Union.

    3.  The pool was perfect for the kids, and hot tub was nice too, although on our visit there seemed to be a lot of chemicals in the hot tub so my eyes were irritated.  But there were plenty of towels, and there is an elevator nearby to get you back to your room quickly without tramping through the lobby.  The shallowest section is 3 feet, so I did have to hold my 3 year old son, but my 9 year old had a blast!

    4.  Breakfast is included in the price of your room!  There was make-your-own waffles, hot eggs and sausage, and then of course your typical continental breakfast selection.  The room was big and clean with a view of Lake Union.  I've been to other hotels where the breakfast room is dark and small...not the case here!

    5.  Free gated parking!

    6.  Honesty.  We left our camera in the room.  They found it and mailed it back to us.  They could have easily kept it, but no, they were honest.  Hard to find these days.

    7.  Quick service.  In addition to the friendly desk, I had to call to get more shampoo because my 3 year old decided the shampoo was bubble bath.  I had 3 more bottles in 5-10 minutes delivered to my room.

    8.  FREE WI-FI!

I paid $119 for the non-view room standard room, so with tax about $138.  With a family of four, I could have easily paid $38 just to go out to breakfast with what we ate and drank, so this was a great deal.  We will most certainly stay here again on our next Seattle adventure!  We were there end of March 2011.

Great place to stay, The location is a bit off the beaten path but the shuttle helps a great deal. Not a lot more I can say, staff was great, the room was clean and spacious, and even the complimentary breakfast was tasty. Parking and wireless internet were free.

(Did I mention the little gas fireplace?)

    Will surely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Silver Cloud this past weekend.  The room was large, spacious, and very quiet.  The bed was extremely comfortable.  The staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional.  It didn't hurt that their "gift shop" was open 24 hours, and included microwave popcorn AND Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Bars for late night snack cravings.  We also really enjoyed the fact that there was private parking in a very secure parking garage.
The continental breakfast was very, very good as well, featuring pastries, Belgian waffles, eggs, sausage links, an assortment of breakfast cereals and beverages.  My wife and I consider ourselves coffee snobs, and we both agreed that the coffee both in the room and at breakfast was quite good.  Even in the rain, the views of Lake Union at breakfast were quite lovely.
We highly recommend a stay here if you're looking for some place conveniently located to all of the wonderful downtown attractions that Seattle has to offer.  They also offer a free shuttle service, which, had we been able to check in earlier, we would have most definitely taken advantage of.

DON'T book here if you need to go to the Seattle Convention Center for any type of convention. The shuttle service they provide won't take you there, if you can even get on it in the first place. For a hotel their size I was told by the rude front desk lady that they only have one shuttle. We had to take a $10 cab ride to the convention center about four times a day which adds up.

Their service people are rude, including the drivers, and the only good experiences I had was with the complementary breakfast. We would constantly got noise complaints because we had to blow up an air bed, which I know isn't fully the hotels fault but was still stupid. All in all it was a horrible experiences and I wont book with any of their hotels again.

Nice room, horrible customer service, good breakfast, plane on staying where you are.

Clean, decorated in modern colors, right across from the lake. Priced reasonable. Very quiet. Free breakfast comes with and indoor garage parking is inexpensive with in and out privileges. Wifi is fast and free. It's in an area that you need to pay attention to with directions as the streets change names and there are one ways and two ways and forced turns etc. The gas fireplace is a nice touch. Room was roomy. Front desk was accomodating. There's an Indoor pool and hot tub. It was open 24 hours which is also nice. Not too far from downtown. It's a chain so mostly predictable but they seemed to have thought of all the extra amenities. Safe area. I personally like locally owned, one of a kind hotels better but that's just me.

Stayed here back in October for my 30th birthday and have to say it was a great choice.  We live only an hour away but decided since heavy drinking would be involved (my 30th) and the club/lounge was literally across the street this would be a great option for us.

Staff was friendly, check in was super fast and efficient.  Parking lot is a secured garage for added comfort to your security.

Rooms are clean and what you expect from a motel/hotel.  Great large flat screen tv'a included, however the quality is poor since HD is not included.  Kid friendly.

The breakfast buffet is alot better than most.  Never ran out of food, pleanty of supplies throughout the service and food was really decent.  Waffles were really good and freash since you got to make then yourself.  The view from the eating place is beautiful as well!! Great clear view of South Lake Union!

I recommend this place because it's inexpensive, comfortable and close to everything.  If you are visiting from out of the area leave your car in the garage, walk across the street and take the South Lake Union Trolly and make your way to all the sites our beautiful city of Seattle has to offer.

Silver Cloud Lake Union hotel has 7 floors in a quiet area that caters to families and business travelers. Silver Cloud offers good rates clean rooms and lots of amenities. Overall great value! And there's 2 other locations in Seattle.

Stayed here in mid-July 2011; rate for 2 queen beds was $169 per night before taxes.

    Hotel stay includes:
    - gated covered parking; space is a little tight in some spots if you drive a large car
    - in room free wifi with good connection for you tube videos
    - breakfast goes beyond typical continental as there's make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, muffins, fresh fruit (though this one goes fast in the morning), cereal, oatmeal, toast, English muffins, juice and coffee
    - shuttle bus to three locations (space needle, pike place market and pioneer square). Pretty much pick up and drop off are almost every 30 mins depending on how busy they are and traffic
    - paper in the morning (Seattle Time)
    - coffee and tea available all the time
    - Aveda bath products
    - free use of business centre with two desk top computers and printers

Other nice things: microwave and fridge in the room. Washer and dryer available for guests to do their own laundry. Service was friendly from front desk staff to shuttle drivers. Separate and additional sink outside of the bathroom.

    Small issues:
    - elevators are pretty slow - one main one in the lobby and two on the south side but connects to the garage so you have to walk through garage area for about 5 meters
    - coffee machine is in the bathroom - very odd location to have coffee aroma wafting out of the bathroom
    - bathroom is small as door just clears toilet by an inch but nice that another sink and mirror is located outside of bathroom
    - probably one of the weaker hair dryers that I've ever used; I have thick hair so it took forever to blow dry it
    - hotel is definitely older but you can tell they renovated the place several years ago so things don't feel too old

The Silver Cloud Inn on Lake Union was the perfect hotel to host all our out of town guests for our May 2012 wedding (about 50 rooms).

From the beginning, the Silver Cloud team (namely, Garret) was courteous, helpful, and very accommodating.

They helped us set up a block of rooms at a discount (10 rooms), booked conference rooms so we could have food available throughout the day, and even offered free shuttles to help our family get to and from dinner. Wow!

Our guests loved the hotel's proximity to downtown, the free shuttle to tourist attracitons, the generous hot free breakfast every morning, and the view from the 2nd floor dining room (also a great gathering area).

Very reasonably priced and well-appointed rooms. Highly recommend this hotel!

I was in town for a wedding nearby and a group of rooms was reserved by the happy couple for anyone coming from out of town. They picked a great spot, because this hotel was excellent.

As I was checking in, I was asked if I wanted a room with a fireplace... for no extra charge. I would be a fool to pass up on an offer like that, even if I was staying there by myself. It was pretty warm out, but I was sure to fire it up (no pun intended) every chance I got.

The rooms were clean and spacious, and the front desk folks were friendly and attentive. They had no problem getting me a cab to the wedding that accepts credit cards, and there's a shuttle offered that will take you downtown.

And a big bonus... they provided a quality breakfast, complete with waffle irons and eggs. Be sure not to miss this! Just be aware: If you're hoping to sleep in, try to avoid a room on the third floor. It gets pretty noisy in the morning with all the dining guests.

Overall, I really had no complaints about my stay. Attractions like the Space Needle and Pike's Market aren't far way (not walking distance), and the prices were reasonable. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting from out of town.

I stayed with some friends for one night and the room was pretty awesome, very roomy and comfortable. I love the included parking, I never even used my car after we checked in, and there's a pretty large parking lot right outside of the hotel that wasn't too expensive.

I also really liked how the hotel itself was away from a lot of hustle and bustle, but it was still walking distance from the Seattle Center. In fact my friends and I just walked over and used the monorail to get downtown. It was really nice not having to worry about parking, and it's definitely doable, as long as you're dressed for the weather.

I think what really sold me on the place though, was what happened when we were about to go out for the night. We asked them if they could call a cab for us, and instead they offered to just drive us over to where we wanted to go. It definitely saved us a couple bucks and they were really cool about it too. This is definitely my go-to hotel from now on!

Silver cloud inn Lake Union was awesome!  We stayed here for 9 nights and the location is perfect.  Right by the freeway on/off ramps and right outside of downtown.  They have a free shuttle to take you to space needle and downtown.  We had a car for some of the days - so the free parking was a plus for us.  The other days we didn't have a car - we explored downtown area and activities and used the free shuttle.  The other plus was the free breakfast daily!  The sausage they served was delicious.  They had yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, ham and sausage, waffles, toast/bagels and fruit.

The staff was pleasant and helpful.  The shuttle drivers had the best personality and were the nicest and most helpful.  They were always willing to go the extra mile to help and so cheerful and friendly!

We ate at the 2 restaurants nearby - Daniels broiler (best steak and jumbo shrimp cocktail ever - but expensive) they have a happy hour but couldn't take advantage since we had 2 kids.  Also ate at Joey's - that was pretty good also.

We had a suite room where there was a fireplace and pull out sofa bed - the room was very spacious.  The extra room came in handy with the kids.

We will definitely be back here when we visit Seattle again.

I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Silver Cloud inn.  My friends' wedding was nearby so the whole bridal party stayed here.  The free parking at the on site parking garage was close and convenient.  We spent $160 and got an in room jacuzzi tub.  It was huge and fun.  The view for this room is not as good as some of the others, but it was worth the trade off.  A friend's room had a view of the space needle, but I had to literally stick my head outside the window to see it.  It was still nice even though kind of distance.

The price was very affordable compared to a lot of hotels in Seattle, although there is not a lot to walk to from the hotel.  Breakfast was included and everyone was digging the waffles.  I enjoyed an apple and a cup of coffee.  All the rooms have a mini fridge which was awesome except we forgot our unopened expensive bottle of Champagne in there :(

This place was perfect if you're looking for a nice, but not too expensive place to stay in Seattle. It's close enough to the downtown and happening areas that you can either walk or take a quick ride in their free shuttle to explore the city. Our room was clean and quiet. Their pool and hot tub area are also great to relax in at the end of a long day.

Perfect, in every way.  7th floor suite.   Incredible views.  Loved watching the seaplanes and the sailboats.  Could even see the Space Needle and night lights of Seattle.
    Comfy, clean, romantic, and fun.
Breakfast (again, view!) was great.  Waffles!
Girls at the desk, to the lovely woman who took care of our room, were sweet and delightful.
We stay here every time we come to Seattle (once or twice a year).
    Wouldn't change one thing.

I was planning a trip to Seattle, and was reminded of the dreadful stay we had here a few years ago during my nephew's graduation.

I had read wonderful reviews about this hotel--the view!  the breakfasts!  the free parking!  the pleasant accommodations!  and was looking forward to a nice relaxing visit.

We arrived from out of state after a LONG flight with my elderly mother in tow, looking forward to a clean room and a hot shower.   I showed my email confirmation and reservation number but  Oooops!  no room.  After a while, they did locate it, but the room they had for us was not the room we asked for.

Well, mistakes do happen.  I didn't care about a view and I know mistakes happen; I just wanted a clean room that would work for an old lady in a wheelchair.

Okay, so we asked to speak with the manager.    We waited, and waited and ... After 20 minutes he finally emerged, clearly annoyed that we were taking up his valuable time.  I've traveled throughout Europe & China & never been treated so RUDELY by the manager.   So over an hour after we arrived, he offloaded us to a dark noisy hole with a noxious cigarette smoke odor.   Worse, the room was dirty.  My mom couldn't use the bathroom.

We asked about moving to another room and it was basically: take it or leave it.  By now it was late and we just wanted to sleep.   The next day I looked for rooms at other hotels, which was difficult because it was around graduation.

The hotel is moderately priced, the views were nice, as was the breakfast, but our room smelled and looked like a flophouse.   Coincidentally (or not) I also developed a staph infection on my skin (that was a first).

I eventually wrote to the corporate office of the hotel chain and expressed my disappointment.  I got back a two sentence letter saying they are a great hotel chain and they were sorry I didn't enjoy my stay.  Clearly the "we don't care, we don't have to" attitude goes all the way to the top.

So ... if you book here, you might have a nice time.  You might not.   It's a crap shoot.   Just hope you don't get crap.

If you are staying in the Seattle area, you will have a hard time finding a better place than Silver Cloud Inn.  The rates are reasonable, but when you include the delicious complimentary hot breakfast, free fruit, coffee and tea 24 hours per day, free shuttle service to popular landmarks, free to use laundry machines, and free parking, the value can't be beat.  Service is top notch, too.

Nice clean rooms and in a very good location. Hotel shuttle will take you downtown and leaves about every 30 min. Free continental breakfast and free parking. Many hotels have parking which with tax is about $50 per day. They allowed our friends from out of town to park for free in the lot and most of the staff was pretty nice. My only negative was one of the young ladies (Jeana???) at the counter was a little rude the two times I talked with her. If you get the older van driver you better hold on.

I just got back from a last minute road trip to Seattle where I had the pleasure of staying at the Silver Cloud Inn at Lake Union. Not aware of Seattle's super busy summer tourist season, I had searched every site available for a hotel that met both my vacation needs and my budget. I usually look for hotels with at least a 4-star rating, marble tubs, on-site dining, and a bar. And during Seattle's high season, these rooms were waaay over my budget. The Silver Cloud was the most affordable, decent looking place...So although I was grateful for the last minute room at the price paid, I wasn't totally sold on the place. Until I got there.

We arrived for a late check in and were greeted warmly by the front desk, instructed as to the best place to park the car in the garage FOR FREE, and were told of the time and place of the complimentary breakfast. We also were told about the FREE SHUTTLE at our disposal.

My room, had a Space Needle view, two queen beds, a sofa, desk, microwave and fridge. The room was spotless, modern and comfortable. The bathroom, although small, had a shower/tub combo, and the water pressure was amazing.
In the mornings, my room did a get a little loud, as it was right next to the free breakfast hall. Undeterred by the noise, I simply woke up, put on some sweats, walked next door and grabbed some grub, then came back to my room and ate on the balcony overlooking the lake.

After my free waffle breakfast,  I'd shower and hop on the shuttle to go one of it's
three stops: the Seattle Center, Pike Place Market, or Pioneer Square. After a day of meandering through the city, I'd simply call the shuttle for a pickup and they'd come get me usually within 15 minutes. A great deal, considering a cab to and from Pioneer Square ran about $12.

So, how did I deal with no onsite restaurant or bar, you ask? Well, the hotel is located across the street from a little marina area that has not 1 but 3 pubs that I found and a good selection of small restaurants...none of those national chains, either. There's also a high end steak place, Daniels, that Paul the shuttle driver recommended to me. When he asked if I had reservations, which I didn't, he called for me and set up my dinner plans. Thanks Paul!

Bottom line, if you're driving into Seattle for some touristy action, stay at the Silver Cloud. You can park your car for free in a secured garage, use the free shuttle service to take you to where you want to go, and be treated very well by a professional, helpful staff. High five, Silver Cloud.

I stay in this Silver Cloud at least once a quarter for business.  Nice views of Lake Union toward the west, including from the breakfast area.  The rooms are clean and lacking a strong chemical odor.  Newspaper in the morning.  Good wifi from every room I have stayed in.  Aveda products.  Full cable selection - if that is what you want.  Breakfast in the morning is better than Lenny's, I mean... well, you know.

My biggest complaint about Silver Cloud is their gate-secured parking.  Micro lot sizes and very low clearance.  Beware.

Awesome suite! Fireplace right in front of the bed, super romantic. Our waterfront view was less than such, we mostly had a view of the parking lot but this didn't ruin the stay or cost these guys any points. Close to the pier for nice walks in the evening. Safer area. Shuttles are available to downtown at no cost. The staff was wonderful and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel.

    Location - awesome
    Cost - ok
Breakfast - bacon and potatoes and eggs would be better if warm
Bed - extremely uncomfortable; both of us had trouble sleeping
(Suggest bringing own pillows as theirs are quite thin)
    Service - impeccable
    Housekeeping was awesome
Shuttle bus - morning driver was extremely helpful, very nice and a calm driver; afternoon driver was not personable and an extremely impatient driver
    Check in - super quick
Check out -  if u had prepaid, u had to do nothing but leave your keys in the room
Parking was free which was a bonus in d/t Seattle

    We would stay here again

Do yourself a favor, stop looking at the Residence Inn down the street, and look here instead.   I've stayed at the RI too many times and been dismayed by their lame customer service, their (often) overbooking, and their lackluster breakfast and "reception".   The last time I booked at the RI, they were yet again overbooked and they sent me to this gem at nearly midnight.

The staff at the Cloud are friendly, attentive, and smiling, and the rooms are actually clean and updated, which is more than I can say for the other options in the area.  Breakfast isn't anything special here either, but I gave up on free hotel breakfasts a long time ago.

For convenience to the Hutch and SCCA, look no further.   Lake Union gets better every year for exploring, too.

Only stayed here for 1 night, but it was a comfortable, clean room, with great service by the staff and free parking and wi-fi. That's a deal here in Seattle. Hotel is not downtown, but a shuttle is provided to take you to the hotspots! Room had a nice tv, small microwave and refrigerator. In room coffee maker & coffee were good! Would stay here again!

Decided to come to Seattle on super last minute planning in the middle of summer annnnnd on a weekend. Boy was that not the best choice. This was one of the highest rated and cheapest hotels compared to anything else during our visit.

Before my vacation even started, someone at the front desk, was kind enough to inform me that the best and least expensive way to get to the hotel was to take the light rail from the airport into downtown for less than $2.75 then call them and they'd have a shuttle pick us up! The light rail was perfect! great way to settle in to your surroundings and get a peek at the surrounding neighborhoods. The ride has about 10 stops or something like that, takes about half an hour to get to downtown with.

Once we got to the meeting point of the shuttle we called them and they arrived within 15-20 minutes and we were on our way to the hotel. During our stay they had a shuttle every half hour going from the hotel to 3 main tourist areas (pioneer park, pike place/downtown, and Seattle center). Very convenient for first timers that aren't looking to go extremely far. Dave was the best!!! Don't forget to tip these guys!

The concierge/front desk was super helpful with helping us find things to do and places to eat. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating at all times. One of the best parts was at the end of each night around midnight, we'd come back after a long day and go to the Jacuzzi! I think their pool/Jacuzzi is open 24 hrs? Great way to wind down on our days.

The hotel is right across lake union so you can literally take a 2 minutes walk and be right by the lake to watch sea planes come and go. Dukes is about a 5-10 minute walk for a simple good lunch/dinner.

Our room was a king and we got a pull out sofa bed! Perfect for my friend and I. It's a suite so they have a tiny kitchen area as well. I wish they had more of these everywhere else in the world!!! Can't complain about anything at all. Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town!

Sitting in my hotel room, as I complete this review.  Horrible experience from the minute, I checked in. David, the front desk rep was highly rude and insensitive.   For a five night stay and payment in advance, I was given a room where you could hear the sounds of cars/large trucks passing up/down the street.  I'm here on travel for work with one the largest companies within the US and to be treated, as nothing is shocking.

The Shuttle driver (M-F) should take lessons in customer service.  Extremely rude to hotel guests when they request shuttle service to a specific location.  Constantly interrupting guests conversations to correct them.

My leather jacket was stolen from the closet in my hotel room.   No accommodations or anything just  "I'm sorry."

This has to be the worse hotel, I have ever stayed in.

    Update 8/8/2014

Adding more info, as their Staff stole my leather jacket hanging in the hotel room closet! After numerous calls to the front desk with no resolution, with the staff saying, "You sure you didn't leave it in a cab? or Our staff will never steal"  I was able to retrieve the main line to their corporate office after they refused to give it to me.  I ended up speaking with the Director explaining my experience.  Needless to say, 2 hours later the front desk left a VM saying they found my jacket. Very sad, I had to go through these lengths to retrieve my items. Be very aware of this place.

We have an account here through my dayjob, which didn't apply for my stay, but it was how I even thought to come here in the first place -- I'd typically not think of SLU as a place to stay / visit / for anything other than a neighborhood to mostly avoid, honestly. By default, I'd either think to go downtown or out to the coast.

With that said, other reviewers are on point -- you can stay here inexpensively (out the door for under $150), and have a quiet, luxurious stay, possibly with a Lake Union view.

I splurged for an overnight staycation (a must from time to time when you and your person live with roommates), and upgraded to the king bed with fireplace and jacuzzi. Total cost with all the fees and taxes was under $200 -- and was worth it for the upgrades! Comfortable bed, huge tub in the actual room (with jacuzzi jets if you don't mind the noise) (I took two baths during our stay), giant shower, switch-activated fireplace, and a good-sized TV. The room was clean, showed minimal wear, and the in-room coffee (Seattle's Best) was actually drinkable in the morning. Small fridge was perfect for drink & snack storage, and there was an in-room microwave above a small kitchenette-sized sink, too. Reservation and check-in processes were both efficient and pleasant.

Honestly, the only thing that failed us was the free breakfast. I mean, I get it, it's free, and it had plenty to it: eggs, fruit, waffle station or whatever, all the things you'd expect. The food itself was totally fine / edible. However, there were no plate lids / trays / ways to transport food back to your room, which would have been a nicer option than carrying open plates all the way back upstairs. I note this because eating breakfast in that space was absolutely not an option. It was crammed wall-to-wall with midwest-esque tourists and their screaming kids, which was a full frontal mellow-harsher from the previous eighteen hours of bliss in the room.

Anyway -- breakfast vibes aside, I left feeling like I'd had three full body massages. Will absolutely be back. Oh, and I heard there's a gym and pool in the building someplace, but didn't see them or test them out. Next time!

You get 5 star service for an inexpensive stay. It's about $130 a night and you get free parking (in downtown, parking can be up to $30 a night), free high speed wifi, free breakfast, fitness center, communal deck where you can see the Space Needle (this was perfect for New Year's fireworks), indoor pool, AND a shuttle that takes you to and from downtown. Best deal ever!

Rooms are VERY spacious with a fireplace! Cozy lobby, great customer service.

Also a huge plus that a lot of hotels don't have: checkout time of NOON. Most checkouts are 11. HELL YES TO AN EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP.
