Rooms have inadequate AC when not in main building. Internet slower than dial up. Grim.  Great location. Nice people.

The Bayfield Inn is a terrific place to stay. The staff is warm and inviting. The rooms are great. The food in the restaurant is tasty and the deck is a fun place to be in the summer. Make sure to visit The Bayfield Inn and enjoy the beautiful Bayfield area!

We stopped here for some lunch after the ferry ride earlier today. All of us got fish and chips and some nachos...the food was EXCELLENT!! The fries/chips were crispy from the outside and soft from the inside and had a little twist of spice to it. The fish was simply fresh....crispy but not oily and had great flavor! Cole Slaw was delicious...had cilantro and lime in it....DELICIOUS!!! The nachos was full of fresh flavors too. They all have good selection of beer and the bartender was very pleasant. I would definitely go back if I am ever in the are again.

The service was superb! The food was absolutely delicious! I had the blueberry pancakes with hash browns. They were done to perfection and the organic maple syrup was wonderful. My husband had the Benedict sandwich. He loved it (the sauce wasn't too rich). Drinks were good too. Mimosa for me and Bloody Mary for him. And he's picky about his Bloody Mary's. We will be back here next time!

Haven't stayed there but have visited the deck bar. Service was bad and the staff very unfriendly.

Review is for the Deck Bar only.

They are not lying when they say they have a great view, looking out into the Apostle Island chain over the marina with a drink in your hand... like that could suck. I found the service solid and with plenty of friends nearby it was a favourite gathering spot before everyone split for their evening activities.

Only thing I found odd was the lack of a menu upstairs but that was not a horrible thing as it allowed us to branch out and try other places.

Great place to stay in Bayfield.  You're near the ice road and have a good view of the lake.  The restaurant serves great breakfast!  The portions are large, so you might want to split an order.  The rooms were very clean and warm in spite of frigid temps, and the service was very good.  They helped us find food, gave directions, and were willing to answer all questions.  Would love to stay here again!

Bayfield Inn is an adequate place to stay, however it is categorically nothing special.

As a repeat guest, I typically find that businesses will attempt to accomodate specific requests if at all possible. I inquired as to the availability of a room for one night in the middle of the week, next week. It's the dead of winter and the Inn is showing the majority of its rooms as available. I asked to check in one hour ahead of the stated check in time of 3:00. The staff refused that request, not once, but twice after I'd explained why I couldn't just "stop by" early and see if they had anything available.

I was looking to stay in one of the most, if not the most expensive room they had, and their refusal to adjust an arbitrary policy by one hour will cost them my patronage this trip and in the future. Subsequent to posting a review on TripAdvisor, I received another email from the Inn stating that they never refused to check me in early and that they do appreciate repeat clientele who are patient and polite.  I was neither impatient nor impolite.  They were patently unwilling (twice) to make a minor adjustment to a discretionary policy.  Completely within their rights to do that, and completely within mine to share.  It may not bother anyone else, and it's not my intention to deprive them of patronage - merely to share my experience.

Rather than spend time and energy arguing with me by email, it would have been very easy to bite the bullet, apologize and either extend me the courtesy of 60 minutes or not.  Friendly customer service benefits them.  It makes little difference to me if I stay at their lodging or somewhere else.

When I stayed there at the end of last summer, the room was not particularly clean, the HVAC unit was extremely loud, and there was a natural gas leak in the doorway leading in from the parking lot. All in all, there are numerous better choices in the Bayfield area.

We came up and stayed at the Bayfield Inn late August 2013. The inn is not hard to find - right down in the middle of town by the water in Bayfield. Decent looking place from the road, a great view of the lake and a nice rooftop patio/bar to sit and enjoy.

We unfortunately were not able to get a lake view room. We settled for a street view and just didn't bother opening the drapes. The room was nice, I think the recently renovated and everything was pretty modern and clean. Front desk was friendly and staff seemed efficient and eager to please.

The roof top bar / deck area was very nice. There was live music the night we were there (Saturday) and the band was excellent. They had set up a little tent and some couches for the band, to go along with the umbrella tables and other seating already up there. Very nice atmosphere. So nice that the bartender was a bit overwhelmed. Wait was a bit long for drinks - but understandable. Very fun time.

The next morning we ate at the restaurant for breakfast. I got blueberry pancakes and sausage and my wife got french toast. Both were good, but I was expecting more blueberries after hearing all the talk around town about blueberries and how many places there are near by to go pick them.

My only complaint was that when I called to make a reservation, they informed me there was a two night minimum - and that if we only stayed one night there would be an extra charge. I really didn't mind this (and sometimes expect it on peak season weekends) except it didn't say that anywhere on the website and I think that is real shady. I noticed there were a lot of vacancies the next day when I checked online so it seemed off. I wish they had that posted online and that if there wasn't high demand for a room the next day that they would waive the fee.

Otherwise, excellent stay, nice room, decent service - and the location and deck on top were very nice.
