I would not recommend staying at the Microtel. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything in every room. Every. Thing. Also, the in room heaters click on and off loudly all night long. I barely slept at the Microtel.

There should be a new show on Fox called "So You Think You Can Sleep at the Microtel Inn?" because it's would be pretty damn impossible to do. Let me elaborate.
Apparently there is some airshow in Oshkosh so the area is flooded with people from all over the world here to see airplanes. My typical room at the Holiday Inn would have cost me $325 a night, and my company wasn't keen on that idea. So, to the Microtel I went. Keep in mind, they are charging me $140 a night for my room. One hundred and forty dollars per night for a room at the Microtel Inn in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Talk about supply and demand...
Night 1 went fine, I was out like a light. However, that had more to do with extreme cardiovascular activity and getting zero sleep the night before. I could have slept in the middle of an Iron Maiden concert on O'Hare's Runway 3. The second night was a whole different story. It sounded like the people above me were having a tap-dancing competition, but I'm sure they were just walking around. I could even hear their conversations about Aunt Claire's most recent surgery and how Jimmy has to marry Nicole now because she's pregnant. The walls are scary thin, I wouldn't even think about something for fear the people next door can hear what's in my brain.
On top of all that, the air conditioner is clearly powered by a 7 liter diesel motor because it shakes the walls and blows the covers off the bed when it comes on. So every 10 minutes, it fired up, scared the crap out of me, and kept me awake. Another fun little tidbit: everyone in Wisconsin rides a Harley. What's better is that they all drive up and down the highway right outside the window to my room at 4 in the morning. Add to that the 15'' CRT TV, vanishing ice machine, and "fitness center" with stuff my grandfather used in high school and you get yourself a 1-star stay.

Gone WAY downhill! I have been coming to this Microtell for the past ten years. The last few years have been increasingly worse. My last stay being the worse of them all. The air conditioner was unable to cool the room below 80 degrees in the middle of July. The bathroom sink was clogged and wouldn't drain. The bed sheets were stained. Finally the fold out couch was a throw back to the Spanish Inquisition. I am sad to see a place I used to be so fond of fall so far down the drain. I tried to contact management however I just got the runaround line of, "we will have the owner call you." I never got that call so I guess he or she was either too busy calling other disgruntled guests or just doesn't care.

Place is Gross and they will charge your credit card online as you make your reservation...then play dumb. Thin walls. Last time I was there police were called twice. Run!
Furthermore Wyndham customer service is the worst!
Other choices in town. DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!

This a MICROTEL, not the Hyatt or Intercontinental Hotel. The names sez it all - micro and hotel - get a clue by the name. Normal room rate of $55 is the lowest in town for a name brand hotel. To go any lower in Fond du Lac requires you to go to a local bedbug place - so the Microtel is an inexpensive place to flop your head.
Our group of 5 was in Fond du Lac for a banquet and needed someplace to change our clothes to go to the event so we stopped here and spoke to the front desk clerk. They let us use a room to change and freshen up for 1 hour for a minimal charge where several hotels that we stopped at refused. Yes, the rooms are very small, but hey it's cheap and clean and they are reasonable to work with.
