Excellent hotel. Efficient, friendly staff. Maybe the most comfortable beds, pillows and linens of any hotel I've ever stayed at. Central to all Milwaukee attractions.

I've stayed here twice now and I've decided that I like it.

*good location
*friendly service
*valet guys are great
*clean rooms with new furniture

The rooms are a little on the small side, but it's an older building so you just have to deal with it.  It's just big enough.

So we just had to get away from this town for a couple days and Milwaukee got picked for our outing.  Just me and my mom, out to eat poorly, drink muchly, and get a sunburn.

I guess this hotel used to be a Holiday Inn, but now it's a Doubletree.  No matter, I was just looking for a hotel in Milwaukee that fit this basic criteria:

1.  Must have bar (preferably attached to a restaurant) on site
2.  Must have an outdoor pool
3.  Must have smoking rooms
4.  Must actually be *in* Milwaukee (no, Brookfield doesn't count)

You'd think this would be an easy task, but it's really not.  Anyway, I think the Doubletree was one of maybe two that fit the bill.  Book the room, I did.

First the bar.  Good beer on tap, all Milwaukee's finest.  Nice touch.  Best damn fried appetizer plate I have ever had.  They had cheese sticks wrapped in wontons and fried,  Awesome.  Fried cheese curds, awesome.  Fried fried fried, yum yum yum.

Next, the pool.  Very nice, seasonal roofdeck pool.  Empty except for us for most of the many hours we were out there (nighttime was actually more popular).  We joked that it was 'ours'.  Cozy chaise lounges, tables, chairs, towels.  Warm water, decent view.  Awesome.  Yay pool.

Smoking room wasn't smoky smelling, good for mom.   Bed was super uber comfy, with a feather toppy-thing, and tons of feather pillows.

Lastly, and I didn't know this when we booked, but they give you cookies when you check in.  They were out when we were checking in, but they told us to make sure to come back later, because 'they are SO good'.  They ain't lying.  For the rest of the weekend, we devised plans, theorized shift changes, contemplated busy times to see how we could get MORE COOKIES with LESS EMBARRASSMENT.  We had three each over the weekend.  It turns out, many people are way more ballsy than us in cookie requesting.  Some people even say 'gimme'.

Anywho, earlier I've said I would stay here again just for the cookies, but I actually found the recipe and made a batch last night.  So, I'll stay there again, but not JUST for the cookies (though I will certainly not pass them up whilst I'm there).

The wrapper doesn't say it, but the recipe tells me they are 401 calories each.

So when I travel with a certain gal pal she has this tendency to put us up in places like the Doubletree. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with clean bedding and mini-fridges, but hell, I was about to settle for the Super 8. Anyways....

~ nice staff
~ clean, spacious room
~ tiny, awkwardly narrow bathroom
~ neutrogena products. holler.
~ liquor store across the street (closes at the ungodly hour of 9 pm)
~ city bus to Miller Park picks up in front
~ valet was convenient and "user friendly"
~ obnoxious tv that uses the weird Hotel TV Network or something and is impossible to navigate when intoxicated.
~ too rich for my brokeass blood, but if you got the cash - go for it.

Think that about covers it.

This Doubletree was fantastic.  Top to bottom, everything was great.  A group of us were in town for a concert and we came away totally surprised at how great the service was.  The valet guys were very polite and nice, the front desk employees were very courteous and welcoming (not to mention graciously doling out warm cookies), and the rooms were exactly what we needed.  The front desk even sent up a basket of snacks and soft drinks with a handwritten note thanking us for staying.  The breakfast buffet is pretty good, although for some reason I remember it being free last time (which it is not anymore).

If staying in Milwaukee, I look for a 3+star hotel in the 75-150 range per night.  The Doubletree is one of my favorite hotels to stay in downtown Milwaukee.  I have stayed here several times over the last couple of years.   If I have to actually book a room at a list rate instead of on priceline, this is my preferred choice for ~125.

The other options which I can get on Priceline are the Intercontinental and the Hilton.  The Hilton can be had for sub 70 on priceline, but it is old.   The intercontinental is 150+ on priceline and it is nice and brand spanking new.

Bathrooms here are a bit smaller than used to for a Doubletree or this class of hotel.   I do find this hotel to have great location and very clean though so I am more than happy to return here for future stays.

I stayed here three nights this week and I enjoyed my stay. The beds and pillows  were very comfortable and the hotel seems to be close to a variety of spots such as restaurants, museum, convention center (there are other hotels closer). The decor might be a little dated, but nothing to deter me from returning. I'm always more concerned with comfort and service. The check in Process was speedy and they give you a delicious warm cookie when you check in. The breakfast buffet was decent - good, but the coffee was terrible. They claim to brew Starbucks coffee, but I really don't think they do. Both times I tried it, it tasted bitter and they do not offer fresh creamer, but the packet liquid kind (not the same). The bar on the other hand was kinda cool. The bartenders were so attentive and nice. We talked about spirits and specialty cocktails. He prepared his specialty and it was good. I wish I remembered his name. I will definitely return to this hotel, but will be making the walk to Starbucks for my coffee.

Somehow the picayune TV roster was expanded. And included MeTV, Thank you.

But my only complaints were the sundeck area and it's lame 10 PM closing policy. Those security guards though they were pretty polite, But they reminded me of that one bete noire's lackeys from the 1970's, In that one country.

There are definitely higher class hotels that are available in Milwaukee (ie Iron House, Pfister).  However, the Doubletree DT Milwaukee provides the best service.  I have stayed here several times and they have always accommodated my early check-in requests.  The chocolate chip cookies are fabulous. The location cannot be beat especially if you are visiting MU, Water Street or for Summerfest. Doubletree is one of the most affordable hotels and makes each of their guests feel special.
Check this hidden gem out.

The staff at this hotel must be on nice pills.  They are all so accommodating, friendly, and eager to please!  We stayed two nights this past weekend and have absolutely nothing but good things to say.  The roof deck is a wonderful amenity, and the beds and rooms were comfy and clean.  Doesn't get any better than this, and I'll never stay in another hotel in Milwaukee again!

We stayed here for 1 night in June for a wedding.

-Easy valet.
-Nice, friendly staff.
-COOKIES. OMG. So good.
-Nice room. Bathroom was pretty small though.
-Super comfy bed & really nice pillows.
-Free wifi
-Good location.

Although it was more expensive than I wished to pay for only a 16 hour stay, I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here over a Summerfest weekend and had a great experience!

Check-in process was quick and easy. Service was great; the friendly front desk lady was very helpful in guiding us in the right direction and pointing out some places to eat, etc..

Summerfest was also only a couple blocks down the street and had some great shopping and food nearby.

Rooms were pretty spacious, clean, and updated.  Beds were super comfy, too!  I know it may sound odd, but the room coffee was unusually good for hotel room coffee.

The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the mandatory $15/night valet parking charge.  That's just me being me though because I'm a tightwad and don't like other's driving my car. : )

Heard they also have a pretty good breakfast in their attached restaurant, but again I'm a tightwad who prefers coffee and a granola bar.

Great comfy beds and very good service at the front desk. Room was clean, nice big tv. They are doing some remodeling but everything was still nice. Ate in the restaurant Friday night for pasta buffet-good for only twelve bucks. Our view was bad (the rear of building with open garbage dumpsters) but only if you looked down. Only complaint was the morning of checkout, I called for someone to come get our luggage and store it until we were ready to leave. Girl on the phone told me everyone was busy and then dead silence on the phone. When I asked what she suggest I do then about getting all of the luggage down for storing, she never answered me. Again, just silence. I dragged all of our stuff downstairs with my young daughter and they told me since I had a car, I had to store it in the car. So, I had to tip the valet to bring my car up from parking, then open and put all of my stuff inside while he stood and watched me, and then bring it back down. Bummer that there was no indoor pool either. That said, for the price, we will stay here again for our event next year.

Love this hotel. Not crazy expensive, clean, conveniently located near downtown events, warm cookies at check-in, but the best thing is the bed- soft, comfortable, clean. Oh, and free WiFi and good cable channels.

I didn't actually stay at this hotel, but I'm a big fan of places that seem to be LGBT-friendly. This hotel provided shuttle services every 30 minutes to and from the Pride Fest. I'd say that's pretty LGBT-friendly so I'm giving them a 4-star review (Yay! I'm a fan).

If I'm ever in town again, I'd opt for staying at this hotel.

We ordered a drink in the hotel bar. The drink was "short"  - so much so that my husband commented that they just held the JD over the glass but forgot to actually pour the drink.
We had also visited the outdoor bar (2nd floor) where the bartender was absolutely great (personality and customer service) HOWEVER, the fact that everyone and their brother came up to that outdoor level to SMOKE  - was VERY DISTURBING.  Here you are trying to enjoy the great weather outside and you have to endure everyone's second-hand smoke. I don't think so! Something is wrong with that.
If I was the manager of this facility, I would certainly review these two facts and make some SIMPLE  changes.

The staff is nice but aside from checking in, I usually don't have much contact with the staff during my stay.  We stayed for 2 nights and when we checked in we had been "upgraded" due to my Diamond status.  Usually I associate upgrades with higher floors so imagine my surprise when I was directed to the 2nd floor, across from the business center and directly next to the fitness center.  Our view was the gravel roof of the 1st floor.  The room was bigger but the space was useless.  What good is a 32" TV when it's 20' away from the bed? The decor of the room was very dated. In fact it looked like it was leftover from when the hotel was a Holiday Inn. Bedding smelled like an old man.  The door to the bathroom was incredibly narrow and the shower head was old and the ring that was on the shower head at the wall was loose and dangling.  To top the stay off, we were awakened by someone in the next door fitness center bouncing a medicine ball on the wall each morning.  Thanks for the "upgrade", Doubletree.

I'm starting to see Hilton's become very tired looking and this Doubletree is not helping matters.  This place better become more "Wit" like or the newer hotels like Aloft and the coming Garden Inn, Marriott and others are going to make it look really bad.

Location - Great location, within walking distance to restaurants and right off the high way.
Room - Clean bed room, clean bathroom, clean sheets - check - what else could you want in this category
Perks - Its a double tree so - free chocolate chip cookie upon check in; however, this location goes the extra mile - there were snacks in your room so you didn't go hungry

This location made my life easy. i checked in, walked down the street for dinner, actually got a massage, came back and went to bed. The staff is very nice as well.

We checked in with silver status, so our experience was slightly different. HHonors clients got their own top two floors in this hotel, with HHonors wifi. Bed in the room was AMAZING. King sized, pillowy comforter and feather pillows. We automatically took a nap!

Front desk service was very helpful, particularly Courtney. We also had a good experience with room service. Toiletries were very high quality - the Citron line from Crabtree and Evelyn.

Location is right next to all the sights of Milwaukee. Perfect walk to the Art Museum.

I've now stayed here twice and can confirm that I probably will not be staying anywhere else when I'm in Milwaukee.

Check-in process is super quick.
A check-in cookie (these things just might be worth the money to stay a night here).
Service, no matter where you are in the building is excellent.
Valet is quick and easy (Though there is a mandatory $15 overnight parking charge).
Rooms are clean, spacious, and the beds are comfy (good pillows).
A bar/restaurant with a bartender that has a killer memory and an awesome personality. Plus the food isn't your normal hotel food. Also, ROOM SERVICE!
Quite at night! Last time I was there, they had two wedding receptions being held and I didn't hear a peep from them.
Hotel breakfasts, probably one of the best I've ever eaten. The morning crew really takes care of you!
Area isn't so bad to walk around in at night.
Located near the highway.

Everything you need and want in a hotel. It's simple and affordable.

My sister used this hotel to book a block of rooms for her wedding; however, over half of the wedding guests were coming from IL so we needed more than just 10 rooms to accommodate everyone. Needless to say, the hotel staff in reservations were anything but helpful. Many family members complained that the staff were short with them (a woman in particular), & were not helpful in resolving booking issues. There were not enough rooms blocked, & instead of opening up the block until all of our family was accommodated, they instead chose to offer us a 2-night minimum at $40 more per night. Who are they kidding??? If I was the bride, I would have said "see ya later" & moved my block of rooms to another hotel. In the end, we had family staying at 4 different hotels. Extremely poor customer service all around.

They don't make hotels like this anymore! Man, what a lovely place! The staff is extremely accommodating (I went and stayed here for a wedding) and friendly. They'll clean your room whenever works for you.
Their room service is pretty delicious and not too outrageous for room service prices. They've also got a cafe, starbucks and a pub in the hotel. Nice!
The honeymoon suite is 5 rooms- 2 bathrooms, dining room, living room and bedroom. It has an enormous Jacuzzi. Just do it.
The regular rooms have incredibly comfortable beds, large tvs, coffee makers, irons, hair dryers. Good times for all.
Great location and less expensive than you'd think- rooms start around $109 with advance purchase! If life ever brings me back to Milwaukee, I'll hit me up some Hilton.

One hour wait to get a room when we arrived around 1PM (check in is at 3 so no big deal). Nothing but great things to say about our experience here after check in.

-Warm Chocolate Chip cookies after check-in
-Super friendly staff
-Modern room; featured fridge and new hd tv (with hbo)
-Quiet hotel
-Great value
-24 HR convenience and Dunkin Donuts across the street

There wasn't much around the hotel but we took taxis around the city.  The front desk would call taxis for us and they were at the front door within 1-2 minutes.

If I came back to Milwaukee this would be on the top of the list for the price.

I was in Milwaukee last week for a Lutheran Education Association Convocation. The teachers of my school stayed at the Double Tree Hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The TV is big with many channel selections. There is good water pressure in the bathroom. The elevators are also quick.
I think there could have been a breakfast provided. Their restaurant did offer one, but it was too expensive for my budget, and I do not eat much anyway.
The hotel is very convenient to the Wisconsin Convention Center.

Stayed for summerfest. The bus picked us up right outside the front door and we had an easy ride to the entrance of the event. We got back late and were greeted by super friendly staff welcoming us in. The bed was one of the best beds I've slept in at a hotel. I slept so soundly and didn't hear a peep from anyone else in the place. The room was spotless and the shower was heavenly! I loved the shower head. Patricia Allen, the director of sales, greeted us on their gorgeous sun deck and shared many great thinks about Milwaukee and summerfest! What a joy to speak with and she made us feel at home. This place under went major renovations and is like a brand new hotel! We'll be back on our next visit to Milwaukee. Parking is valet only and 15 bucks a night. I found that to be pretty reasonable considering what parking costs in the lots near summerfest.

Love to stay here.  The best run hotel I've ever seen.  Every staff member goes the extra mile, from the valet parker to the bartender.  Every person is friendly yet respectful.  The manager is always standing in the lobby helping out and greeting guests.

Four nights here and it was good. A quiet and nicely sized room on the tenth floor with a comfortable bed with all the amenities I would expect from a proper hotel - large television with a bunch of channels, free Internet, a comfortable work space, a bar and restaurant, and a very friendly helpful staff. And of course, the free Doubletree cookie!

Here are my only complaints. The work desk didn't have enough outlets. The well gin in the bar was pretty awful. The water pressure in the shower was very high, no matter what time of the morning I tried it. Parking is expensive. Uh... that's pretty much it.

As a Hilton Gold elite, I get a couple of breakfast coupons. The buffet breakfast isn't bad. I wouldn't pay for it though. If you're of a like mind, there's a Starbucks across the street in the Hilton. There's also a taxi stand over there if you want to avoid the parking charges.

FYI... a taxi from the airport to here is about $40. The convention center (currently called the Delta Center, soon to be the Wisconsin Center) is a block away. There are also plenty of restaurants within a couple of blocks.

This place was just right. Incredibly comfortable bed the size of a lake; small, clean room; small, clean workout room, with two washers and dryers for guests' use. Delicious breakfast buffet; nice bar that was a really mellow place to hang out. Was there for a conference and stayed for 5 nights - would have happily stayed on. The hotel and restaurant staff are awesome! Super friendly and helpful. Oh yeah, and they gave us warm cookies when we arrived.
The conference got us onto the HHonors floors, so I can't speak for the rest of the hotel, but the staff alone make it worthwhile.

Stayed here one night while visiting the college. The location is great, walking distance to the college. Many restaurants around as well.
The rooms were fine and appeared clean... but when I took a shower I noticed that the water was not draining well. Same with the sink in the bathroom. That grossed me out a bit. Other than that, it was a decent experience.

Let me start off saying I'm very Hilton loyal and am part of their HHonors program. Diamond status by the way. Balling!!!  From traveling and being to all their different chains I have an idea of what to expect from them on my visits. The service here was exceptional. I originally had a double bed room booked because that's all they had available. Still the same case when I was checking in. I asked them to let me know if a king room opened up. Within 15 minutes of being in my room they had one that opened up so I was able to switch. It was much appreciated. They gave me extra drink tickets for my inconvenience and glad I took advantage of that in the bar. The bartenders were great with service and making recommendations for beer. I also ate at the bar which was really good. I got the beer cheese meatloaf and cheesecake. It was really good so give it a shot it you go.

NOTE: Valet Only (don't worry, it's free). And by free I mean $15.

Located in the heart of DT Milwaukee, near tons of bars and restaurants.

This location boasts bars located on 2 different floors (Oh hell yeah). One is indoor and one is outdoor.

The staff here are insanely friendly and accommodating.

This hotel has two top floors dedicated to Hilton Honors Members (AKA...me).

Huge beds, spacious rooms and decent views (its just Milwaukee).

Would I return? (Does a bear shit in the woods???).

I have travelled almost weekly for business for the past year+ and this is the first negative hotel review I've ever written. I do this to hopefully spare someone else the misery I endured this morning. DO NOT stay at this hotel while the construction to their parking area is going on!!! Or if you must, INSIST that they put you on a high floor far away from it. I completely understand the need for renovations/construction and have stayed at various hotels while they did so, but in every other instance, I was always notified about where it was, what time it would start, etc and given a room away from it if requested or if I would need to still be in the hotel in the morning when it was going on, etc.
So imagine my unpleasant surprise when DEAFENING JACKHAMMERING started at 8:00am on the dot the next morning!!! Not just loud, teeth jarring!! And it never stopped. I live in downtown Chicago in an apartment building that is often renovating its units, so I am used to typical construction noise. I have NEVER heard anything close to this LOUD inside a building!
The only notification about any construction was a sign in the elevator saying they were working on the valet lanes, so you could not ask for your car until you were ready to take it right away. No warning  WHATSOEVER that there would be DEAFENING JACKHAMMERING starting at 8:00am the next morning. And no one mentioned a word about it at check in!! As I said, I understand the construction. What I do not understand is why I wasn't given the courtesy of a warning so that I would have had the opportunity to say, "Actually, this is one of the rare times that I don't have to leave the hotel super early and would still be here at that time, so yes PLEASE give me a room far away from it or transfer me to the other Hilton right across the street."  How difficult would that simple courtesy have been?!?!?!  The response from the front desk was that they were sorry, and yes they have to hear it all day. Well you are being paid to be there, I am a paying guest!! But I certainly won't make that mistake again. And as it turns out from reading other reviews, as a Hilton Honors member, I should have been given a room on their designated (higher) Honors members' floors to begin with, which might have avoided this whole issue! Wow, what a way to treat your members!!

Stayed for a week for work and was happy with the accommodations. Conveniently located, very accessible parking (important for me because work requires tons of driving), quiet rooms. The lobby bar was spacious enough to allow private conversations over drinks but also to meet strangers at the bar (hotel bars are the best place to meet random strangers for memorable conversations). There are multiple on-site dining options including a casual bar and grill and nicer restaurant. There's also a Starbucks.

I generally get room service once while traveling. There is something fun about staying in with dinner in the room, your pajamas and television. This place was no exception and the room service was excellent. So excellent I did it twice.

I would definitely book this hotel if I found myself back in Milwaukee.
