Great location if you're lookin' to stay in Wauwatosa; it's right next to the Mayfair Mall and a few blocks from the Medical College of Wisconsin/Froedert campus. It's a little older than some other Holiday Inn Express locations that I've been to, but it's also priced very reasonably ($70-$100 depending on when you're booking) with a hot buffet breakfast in the morning to boot. There's a Denny's right across if you want a quick meal, a real benefit when it's snowed up outside.
I'm taking off a star b/c their shuttle does NOT take you to the Gen. Mitchell Airport, which is the main drawback to this hotel.

I am a frequent traveler and love staying in Holiday Inns....however, this is one of the oldest Holiday Inn I have seen! So old that the battery on the door locks were all dying out on the top floor and they had to give me a new key because I couldn't get into my room. So old that the toilet seat had marks on it from the 1980's. So old that they still have not updated to a flat screen tv. This hotel needs an update BAD!!

Clean, quiet, safe, and nice bed. Walking distance to a drug store and a mall. They had a free shuttle service to MCW. Breakfast was free, voluminous and offered more choices than a Continental. This hotel is highly recommended.

had a couple members who could not make the trip. We called to cancel all but one room. We spoke to Mike who made the adjustments and assured us that all was well. When we asked for an updated confirmation number, he said the old one was fine; he would update Carolyn of the adjustment to the reservation. Flying in from California, with a $50 cab fare as no airport shuttle service, we were told with little empathy, by Mike, that all our rooms were cancelled. When asked if there was a room we could book, we were told that the hotel was sold out for the night. No effort was made to rectify the situation. Not an offer to call another hotel, to reimburse for cab fair, nothing. Mike simply called "next" for someone else in line. Upset and tired, we did not push for a manager as we were too tired to maintain emotional integrity and there was a full lobby waiting to check in. Everyone makes mistakes. The lack of accountability and lack of an attempt to rectify the situation are why we're leaving one star for this location.

Single King was $85+$15 in taxes. Light sleepers beware, the doors slam very loudly, and you can hear some highway noise. All-in-all, it was very clean with safe parking. My room had a mini-fridge and microwave. As always, sign up for the Priority Club card to get a couple extra hours of sleep (1:00 pm checkout instead of 11:00am)

I am a very frequent traveler because of my work. By my experience, this place should have no stars. The room was very nice. But that's where it ends.
1 No matter what they tell you... They DO NOT have an in house restaurant. They have a dining room that they gave a name to.
2 In that dining room, they serve breakfast that is the EXACT same thing as what every Holiday Inn Express servers for FREE in the morning. For said breakfast, they charge you $4.99 for the cold side of the breakfast buffet. If you want the hot side of the breakfast buffet they charge you $9.99 and remember, this is all free at the Express locations.
3 They do offer 3 other breakfast choices, but lack a full menu for a in house restaurant. The "servers" only refill your drinks, they don't server you anything, because it is a buffet. The they ask you for a tip for their effort.
4 This location has 2 restaurants that they own, how charges anywhere from $10 to $30 a meal. But if you want breakfast early, too bad... They do not start serving food until 11am. Which by the way, the dining area I mention before closes at 10am for breakfast.. How convenient. It's so they force you to buy breakfast in the in house "restaurant".
When I expressed my disappointment, the Manager was very rude about it.

I am a frequent traveler and Platinum Priority Club member. When I opened the door to my sleeping room I was greeted with dirty socks on the floor and 2 globs of slimy kids goo hanging from the ceiling. The bathroom floor was dirty around the edges and in the corners, and the handle on the toilet was falling off. When you flush you have to watch the handle so the toilet doesn't keep running. I had a 4 day - 3 night reservation. Housekeeping only came in once to empty garbage and refresh towels/coffee. I went down to the front desk and was told I must have been overlooked. After spending 30,000 points on each night I was offered 2,000 back for my trouble. At least a one night refund for the poor service should have been the least. Stay here again? No way.

This is a middle of the road type of place (a rocky road, lol), certainly not a place I'd seek out again except if I couldn't find a place that allowed dogs.
First the positives:
**Nice appearance of room
**Flat screen TV
**Free breakfast which was pretty decent, just avoid the sausage, no bueno!
**They do allow dogs.
*The internet here is PAINFULLY SLOW!! I mean this place appears to try to cater to the business traveller so you would think decent internet connection would be a must. Look elsewhere if this is a requirement. Forget about loading a video, even simple web surfing is slower than old dial up. Even slower during early evening hours. Pretty embarrassing. This was the worst thing about the visit I think.
*There was an old bottle of shampoo in the shower leading me to believe it hadn't been cleaned.
*There is virtually nowhere to take your dog for a short walk, completely surrounded by warehouse type buildings, roads, interstate, etc. Barely enough real estate to allow them to handle their business.
*As per usual for an average hotel the soaps provided are of the lowest possible quality.
*Be careful as you enter the driveway off the main road, you will bottom out your front end.
*There is an 8-12 inch depression around a sewer grate in the middle of the parking lot which will also destroy your car.
*Parking can be limited at times.
*Minimal fitness equipment.
That's about it. Not the most exciting location in town, but you're probably coming here for business so whatever. There is a Walgreens, a Pick and Save, a Firehouse Subs, and a Mall nearby.

Ugh...Internet might be the worst I ever experienced while traveling. Suppose to have microwave and refrigerators in rooms. Not in mine!

A bit further out from downtown than I'd prefer, but it was the only place around I could find a last-minutish room a few weeks back when traveling to a client's site. Some traffic on the way downtown in the morning, varies, isn't horrible, isn't great.
Not a lot of great dinner options nearby, especially during rush hour when you don't want to travel much. OK, but not great, options within 10-15 minutes.
Nice people. Decent breakfast. Decent amount of parking, though the spaces are a bit small so the yahoos with the big SUVs and fullsize, or, worse, dualie pickups are often on or over the lines.
Fridge and microwave in my king single on both visits.
On my second visit there was hair on my toilet, and black mold or mildew in the harder-to-reach places in my shower/tub. Also my room on the second floor seemed to get a lot more outside noise than my third floor room the week previous, when the hotel was much fuller.
