Sometimes you just HAVE TO see something for yourself. This is one of those places. Don't go sober. Prepare to drink PBR out of a can with a straw. ;)

I don't know if I have ever experienced such an instantaneous time travel back to a place and time so quickly than each and every time I come here. THIS IS A LOST GEM.

Situated on 27th street by Loomis road I guarantee you have driven by this place a zillion and one times. Problem is that it sits back off the street camouflaged by trees. Evergreens maybe?

This is an old old old hotel from the 1800's struggling to remain a fixture on a corporate chain store strip of mediocrity. It's as if Al's saloon from Deadwood was situated in the hell of the Bayshore Mall complex. God help us all.

LUCKILY this place is just..well...The Wildenburg.

In the 1850's it was a hotel and a whiskey distillery. Today it is a boarding house and an old man's local bar, more so local than any place in this city. Why? The old hotel acts as a community gathering spot for a lot of lower income trailers that surround it. Is this a bad thing? Fuck no, it's the best recipe for a real deal character stew...and that's what this place screams.

Take a chance. you'll thank me later.

This place has been here FOREVER and I finally went in. After being curious for what . . . 40+ years? Kind of dump. Kind of awesome! Frozen in 1975.

No Schlitz. Pabst Blue Ribbon! Bartender was as friendly and nice as can be. What more do you need? Pop in if you find yourself on the deep sout' side of Milwaukee.
