Worst place I've ever stayed! The room was filthy and didn't have hot water. The owner was rude!

My review is just a touch belated.... my actual stay there was in July of 2013.

I am rating the Twi-Lite Motel a 4/5. Now, this doesn't make it a four star hotel.

I've been coming to the Dells every summer since I was a kid. Some of my best childhood memories are from our visits there, and it's so fun to now be taking my own family to make new memories. While yes, I have stayed at the ritzier resorts, I much prefer this family-owned style hotel. When we are visiting the Dells, we have almost every second of the day planned - Noah's Ark, Mt Olympus, boat tours, strolling down Broadway, the ducks! We really only need a place to crash at the end of the day. And the Twi-Lite is perfect for that.

While the rooms are certainly outdated style-wise, the entire premises is extremely clean. The owner, Helen, lives on site and is always busy taking care of her guests. Yes, the rooms have wood paneling and the bathrooms are pink from top to bottom. What matters most to me is that they are clean!! Helen replaced our sheets & towels each day. Our room included a microwave and mini-fridge, perfect for us as we are frugal and prefer to do our own meals vs eating out. The A/C unit took a bit to get the job done but ended up turning our room into a perfectly cooled haven after spending all day in the sun.

There is also a small playground and grill community area with a picnic table or two, next to the pool. The pool is also very clean and decent sized, includes just one basic waterslide but the kids still have fun. There are two levels and no elevator, if stairs are an issue for you, you may want to request a lower room. Beautiful flowers and plants all around. We also received coupons for local attractions, including 50% off tickets to Noah's Ark.

Overall, if you're planning on spending most of your time (and money) doing the normal tourist thing - this is the place for you. If you're looking for a plush, comfy resort.... go down the street and pay 4x as much somewhere else. I believe we paid about $70/night for a weekend in July. Extremely affordable compared to most other options.
