Their response to my complaint e-mail - even their "apologies" are pathetic:

" I was disappointed when I read your recent e-mail. First of all,
please accept my apology for the problems with your "package"
reservation. It is entirely our fault. The package was set up with our
partners several weeks ago. I never expected that they would fail to get
us their part of the package at the time we posted the package. We had
called them numerous times trying to get their part of the package.
Every day we expected to get the materials we needed. The person who
took your reservation most likely believed that we had what we were
selling. No excuses, we failed to provide you with what you reserved. I
would have been happy to have given you another "giveaway" at your
choice of time. However, apparently because you say you will never
return you are not interested. Two additional points, one, our rooms are
very well appointed, well built and well maintained. I believe you are
overstating your case because you are angry that the package was not
available. Thousands stay with us every year and are very happy. Two,
why would you interrupt someone on the phone? Would you hang up on a person you were speaking with in conjunction with your job just because a person says excuse me? Perhaps your(too politely) "excuse me" was a rude interruption?

As for what transpired in the restaurant, I wish you had asked
the restaurant manager for help. I'm sure she would have rectified your
problem had she known about it. There were in fact two managers at the
restaurant that morning. I spoke with and they were in fact aware you
had left the restaurant when the food was being brought out. The manager asked your waitress what happened and she replied that she was surprised you had left because others had waited longer. All of our breakfasts are made from scratch and not precooked like they are at McDonald's. And we were also aware that the group of 15 senior citizens waited a long time for their meals since the waitress was new and made some mistakes. That is why the manager was sent out to speak with them and ended their day on a positive note. That is probably why 2 days after they departed, we received a glowing letter from their group with dates for  rebooking nextyear.

I believe your happiness over the package clouded your
perception of everything around you. I am very sorry your vacation was
ruined. I only wish you had allowed me to rectify the situation instead
of venting your anger in writing to travel review sites to demean. We
all make mistakes and we should be allowed to change the outcome.

In the future I recommend if you have problems with something
that if you would allow someone to help you instead of exaggerating and
denigrating them, you would get much farther."

    - Nice huh? Keep up the good work Wintergreen!

Ew. Ew. Ew. Place looks really nice from the outside. Don't be fooled! I was so embarrassed having suggested we go there for our final breakfast in the Dells before hitting the road back home. I should have read the reviews first. Bland food, boring menu. We where the ONLY people in the entire restaurant (should have been a sign).

Crashed here during my trip to Wisconsin for snowboarding. All in all, a great stay with no complaints. They did have an adult only hour at the swimming pool and spa, which was nice. They have a giant polar bear in the front lobby which was amusing, with disproportionately large rear paws.

Not worth it for the price. We stayed in a suite. When we walked in to the room we were hit with a strange smell. After being in the room for a bit we discovered that three light bulbs were burnt out or missing, a lamp just didn't work (when a hotel employee checked it out she commented "I hope I don't get electrocuted unplugging this!"), the sheets on the king size bed were too small and they were inside out (so they kept popping off and bunching, plus we were a little concerned that maybe they hadn't even been washed, but just turned inside out?) and the pullout bed from the sofa was broken, so we were afraid to let our daughter sleep on it because she could have fallen back and gotten hurt. There was also hair sticking to the wall of the shower.

We called down to the front desk and mentioned these things. Someone came right up. They offered to move us to another room, but we were staying for two nights and they only had the other room available for one night, so we would have had to move back.

If I'd spent $60 on the room, these things probably  wouldn't be a big deal. For $200, it's a big deal. Although the staff is very kind and friendly, in general the hotel is run down, somewhat dirty and very loud. We won't stay here again.

This review is for the bar.

The bar is a hidden gem.  I'd stay at the Wintergreen again just for the bar.

That being said, this bar is BYOC.  Bring your own crowd.  The bar was a ghost town the weekend I was there which was perfect cause I was traveling in a herd of about 20.

Steve, the bartender knows how to show out-of-towners a good time.
Friendly service, stiff drinks, great prices.

This place is pretty gross. It looks like it's never been updated since it was built. Old and super run down. I should have known this as soon as we walked in. The place smelled like an armpit. And there is a weird gift shop that sells Christmas-y type decor? We went to our room and upon opening the door it smelled extremely musty. Like the floors have been wet for weeks. We didn't want to walk on the carpet without shoes bc it was so dirty. I accidentally spilled some yogurt on the floor and I wiped it up with a towel and the towel was BLACK after. I don't mean a little dirty, I mean DISGUSTINGLY BLACK!!! The only thing positive about this place is that my kids liked the slide for the pool. I would have rather stayed somewhere nicer and paid for our tickets to Noah's ark. It says in their description on their website that the beds and bedding have been updated. Maybe in 1970. Everything is really gross. Stay somewhere else!!!!

Giving it 4 stars because we didn't stay at this resort. We only ate breakfast there. It was an excellent breakfast with good service. Everyone had and loved the pancakes. Best pancakes I've had since Kaleidoscope closed in Chicago. Anyway, all the food tasted fresh and greasy as expected. Way, way better than Denny's. We had 8 people and tried various breakfast plates. Everyone was happy we chose the Wintergreen for breakfast. Would go there again.

The Winter Green Inn, it might not be the biggest, it m ght not have 28 water slides but this is a pretty good hotel to stay at.  I have stayed at all of the big hotels in Wisconsin Dells & I felt that all you were paying for is the water rides.  The rooms at these big hotels were nothing special.

My friends & I stumbled upon this place our senior year of high school.  This was the only hotel that we could find that looked decent & would rent to 18 year olds.  Not only did they rent us a room but the prices were over half as cheap as other hotels.

The hotel itself was simple but it was clean & the staff was friendly.  They have an indoor pool which is not as fancy as some of the other hotels but it gets the job done.  They have a bar downstairs & the hotel is located in a pretty convenient area right by the outlet malls & close to a lot of restaurants & other attractions.

If you are looking for a nice & comfortable hotel & don't really care about a huge water park then this is a good hotel to check out.  It is also priced really well.  Overall the staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable & clean & the prices were some of the best I have seen in Wisconsin Dells.  I would stay here again if I was in Wisconsin Dells.

The food was nothing to write home about. Very average and luke warm. It was very loud and noisy and crowded. But staff was relatively friendly.

We stayed here last week during our vacation in the dells. The staff was nice, rooms were clean and the WaterParks they have was fun too. They have and indoor and outdoor WaterPark. The indoor one is more for kids. But they have a hot tub in both. We didn't do the morning breakfast buffet but it looked good (about $10 a person). We got a suite and it was $155 for one night and included 2 Noah's Ark tickets...worth it.

    Mediocre at best.
The food was ok. Service was slow. The room was loud. Do yourself a favor & go to Denny's or Cracker Barrel instead.

The advertisement on the billboard for homemade pancakes was the lure for breakfast on our way back to the TC. It lives up to its rep and even the syrup isn't from a bottle. They were awesome, and the waitress brought extra butter without us asking. Ashley was new, a little edgy, but very cool and helpful. I just had water, because the dells water is pretty tasty.  I even liked the flatware here. I'll definitely do it again and prefer it over Mr. Pancake. There are tons of brochures and coupons as you walk in, too.

So, there is one dish - and one dish only that earns a very positive rating for the Wintergreen Grille - the bread pudding french toast on the buffet!!!

The food is overall decent, the prices are slightly high, but atmosphere is blah and the service is decent - the bread pudding is like the greatest thing since sliced bread, oh wait, it's actually an improvement on sliced bread!

We came back this year just to get the bread pudding,  Anything else is decent, but not to justify the price.

If you get nothing from this review it's try the bread pudding french toast - oh, and try to not think about the ingredients, we asked and ya, it's not on your diet no matter what diet you're on :), just indulge and enjoy!

And don't mind the random gong sounds, it's just like people ramming into go carts on the track (you'll understand after about 5 minutes).

What a great establishment. Friendly staff, great food, and cozy rooms. A lot of people complain that the rooms look out of date. They are dense. The hotel is Victorian themed!
